this is still my go to place for breakfast and dinner, but saturday 4/27/18 we ordered take out. to start when i called you would think the place was slammed the guy that didn't seem like he had time for my order. then after several attempts to get my order in he hung up so i called back and asked why he just hung up on me he told me i said good bye "nope" i was about to recheck my order. i then asked how long and if he wanted my name? when i got there 20 minutes later the place was empty almost. i figured maybe it was me. so i left a tip and returned home. i got what i ordered but wrong dressing for my salad, no honey butter for the scones and i asked for brown gravy and got some runny crap that wasn't brown gravy. i will be back because of the past meal's i have had there but not for awhile. denny's is just across the street. read more

It was awful. I always drive by the place with my boyfriend and we ALWAYS say "we need to try their food". We were then full of regret, and not good food when we finally tried it. The cheese on the omelette was like white American cheese that they tried to say was Swiss. It tasted like wax and butter. Everything seemed like it came out of a package. My husband ordered a Chile Verde Omelette. Evidently someone doesn't know the meaning of verde. The sauce was red. When we asked the server, her response was, "That's how we do it. Do you want something else?" The service was fine and so was the food, just not what we expected. Midvale Mining needs to change the recipe or the menu. read more

Best breakfast, scones, etc. The Latin waitresses are terrible and do more chatting and rolling silverware than actually refilling drinks or helping guests, but the rest of the staff is nice and friendly and work hard. This place always has a great crowd on Sundays. Get there early if you want to get a seat fast, and have decent service. We went on a Sunday with 4 adults and a small child. I guess they didn't want to squeeze us into a booth, so we waited over 20 minutes to be seated. This literally was while table after table was filled ahead of us (our name was the only one on the list). We were seated in a back area where two tables were pushed together and my daughter had the pleasure of dealing with table crack. This would have been fine, but it took ten minutes for the waitress to even tell us that she would be right back. Luckily, we were busy chatting because under any normal circumstances I would have left. On to the food! I ordered a vegetarian omelet that came with a huge portion of hash browns and toast. It was tasty, full of veggies and not very greasy (which shocked me!). My daughter's french toast was dry and plain. I ordered a soda (I know, I know), it is so frustrating when the services is so bad that you never get a refill. The one great thing about this place is that you can't beat the portion size for the price. I brought home two or three breakfasts worth of food from my plate alone! Don't get me wrong, if you order everything his way it is a real bargain, but if you want to substitute anything, the up charges are really bad. I've been here a couple times and always have good experiences. They give you a ton of food for a reasonable price. I really like their macaroni salad. I had salmon last time I was there and it was good. I had to make the sacrifice not to finish it in order to have some of my scone with the honey butter instead. :) read more

As important as it is to have a good breakfast to have for lazy mornings, they are hard to come by. My friend and I discovered this place while heading up to the Airport and I've been hooked ever since. It has the classic diner feel and the food is no exception. I've tried the South of Border, which has great hash browns and green chile. But usually I get steak and eggs which they often have as a special for 7.95. You get a great morning steak with some A1, two eggs, and toast for almost nothing! Best breakfast place I've found in Utah. read more

Mining cafe is a dive type restaurant that has been here for ever. The breakfasts are good but their roast beef for dinner is really good.

We are from out of town, and I must say this place has the best service we have had our entire stay! The waitress was friendly, attentive, and quick. The portions were huge and the price very reasonable. I can see why this place is known as having the best breakfast in town, and is filled with locals. Great little mom and pop classic diner feel. Lots of local history and a good menu. I try and go in Saturdays for their special, prime rib or Alaskan Salmon. I highly recommend it and if you leave hungry it's your own fault they serve a three course meal when you order a special. read more

Terrible service! My family arrived and we stood there for 5 minutes waiting to be greeted. 3 employees saw us, none of them spoke to us. Finally, someone came over and took us to a booth. She just dropped off the menus at the table and didn't say a word and left. We sat there looking through the menu for 10 minutes.
