We love their pizza HOWEVER their online ordering system is HORRIBLE. Several times we have ordered, gotten the pickup time & waited and waited and waited. Today the pickup time was 6:03pm. We arrived at 6:05pm. Pizza in hand at 6:40. Seriously? Waiting 35mins past the expected time? That's not acceptable. 5mins? Ok. 10mins maybe. THIRTY FIVE! The owner family came from Brooklyn, NYC, so they serve authentic Brooklyn style pizza. We tried the classic cheese pizza and the white pizza, and both were absolutely fantastic. The restaurant is quite small, but they have a spacious patio table and a few small tables outside, making it a great spot for a family dinner. I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The pizza guy, Eddie, showed me his pizza-making process, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him work. We recently stopped in for a bite and even though I wasn't in the mood for pizza it was a convenient location and we were hungry. It's counter service and there's not much seating inside (there are also picnic tables outside) so I immediately knew it was more of a "takeout" type of place. I ordered the Rocky Balboa which is basically a cheesesteak with shaved ribeye. It was delicious. We never had the pleasure of tasting Miei Amici before today. About a year and a half ago, we bumped into the owner who was new to St Johns county. We thought Mei Amici would host a dine in for our new apartment complex but it did not happen. Inside is small. However, there is outside seating. Not very busy for a summer day. Great service! The young adults that work there are courteous, patient, and are polite. They check in on you while dining in making sure you had everything you needed and didn't wait long. The pizza was just okay to me. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and a slice of pepperoni. I do like that you can buy pizza by the slice here. The sauce for the pepperoni was a little sweet to me, but it came with a good crust and the pizza slice overall was tasty. We stopped in for a quick slice and to check out this new pizza spot nearby. It's counter service with just a few counter/stool seats (4 on one side and 4 on the other). Seems like there was some picnic tables to sit outside overall definitely a place for takeout. Everyone was warm and friendly. The buffalo chicken pizza slices were spot on. I ordered (4) slices of pizza yesterday and the staff piled all (4) slices into the smallest box on top of each other (not even with parchment paper and yes...they had large boxes available...they were visible). I immediately balked at the presentation when I opened it - everything piled on top of each other like trash. I immediately asked for that to be rectified and was presented with (2) small boxes, which could properly accommodate my order. When I got home...just 3 blocks from this establishment, I found that the quality of the pizza was extremely poor and burnt. I've eaten the best that NYC has to offer across (4) boroughs...I'll continue to support Sarafina. I tried. See pic...this can't be for human consumption. So, this was my second time trying this place. The first time I went they had just opened and the pizza was meh. I wanted pizza so bad tonight and this place is in my neighborhood so I tried it again. It was disgusting, cheese was nasty it made me nauseous, crust was soggy, I threw both slices in the trash!! Went there to try their pizza for the first time since it's in our neighborhood. The pizza was good, nothing mind blowing. But their system and service --a whole different story. Should've ordered online (but tbh, not coming back). While waiting, witnessed one of the employees take out 2 slices of pizza and what looks like a flat bread with his bare hands. Yep, BARE HANDS. no use of a pizza cutter or gloves. Disgusting! The gentleman ahead of us canceled his calzone order because It has been 40 mins from the time he put his order in. He was told it will be 15 mins. Guess what, they just started his order and ours!! I felt sorry for him, he was in his senior years and the cashier did not even give an apology for their delay. He asked for his pizza to go only to find out he said it's not even lukewarm. I hope they did credit his 15$ back because he did not even get a receipt he said. The line was getting long and people can see that the guy that makes the pizza was getting so frustrated and banging the oven door. We were secretly praying he doesn't make our pizza because who wants that energy on the food you eat? One of the guys even told him "Tranquilo". After 55 mins our order number was called and good thing my husband checked because they were going to give us the wrong pizza! Smh, the cashier said oh there's two number 28. Lol. How much more disorganization can their process be? So many workers standing around but I've never seen a pizza place so chaotic like this place. Here's the kicker, they charge 3% because you use a credit card. As far as I know, the merchant is supposed to disclose that to customers before payment. There is no sign of that when you pay! We have tried Miei Amici a few times now since opening. We always get the cheese pizza, finally after feedback they are allowing you to specify the doneness. This was our only complaint in the beginning that we like our pizza well done. Last weekend ordered and the cook was perfect! I also really enjoy their rolls, love that they updated the online order to allow for build your own. Their subs are also quite good, nice size and selections. The Tony Soprano was spiced and delicious. Very much a Jersey style. I had the Cheesesteak. Because of the bread, it wasn't very traditional, but delicious on it's own right. Don't be disappointed if you don't get a soft philly style roll. This is their style and it was great. The timing was fine and considering it is day two and they are busy with half of Aberdeen trying it out, I have no gripe. I look forward to trying the hand tossed pizza. While I understand new businesses have growing pains, this place has a long way to go. We used their website to place an order for delivery. The site does not allow you to modify the order. Basically, if you order an item, it has to be as is. No changes. Therefore, I called the restaurant to place the order. I was told changes cannot be made on the site. When I asked about adding such extravagant items such as lettuce an tomatoes to a Hero, I was told there was an "up charge." The person on the phone told me the best thing to do was to place the order online, then call the restaurant to modify the order. Based on this information, I asked the person if I could place my order with them, since we were already speaking. I was told "NO." They stated, "I don't take orders over the phone." I am hoping this was just an unintentional mistake on the part of an employee, but it was not a good look. With so many other options for pizza and the like, I will take my business elsewhere. read more
