Mikado is a beautiful and large restaurant that has about a dozen or so hibachi stations that can seat 8 on each side. I went with a colleague and we were mixed with other duos to fill the table. Our chef was friendly and did a fine job cooking the food. All good tasted great and was fresh too. The experience here, however, isn't as fun and exciting as almost every other place I've been to. There's was no round of flipping cubed zucchini into people's mouths, no sake squirting over mouths, few jokes. It was a bit of fire and pretty much, cook, here's your food, goodnight. The filet was delicious - very tender and tasty. Salmon was good too. I think everyone enjoyed their food - chicken, shrimp, lobster, steaks, salmon, all good. Someone at the table got the sashimi appetizer and loved it as well. They offer an assortment of beverages here. We had a couple Japanese beers, but there are plenty of options. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Our group was seated at a grill table. Our waiter did a phenomenal job of upselling as we each started with an appetizer. The mixed tempura was the highlight of the meal as it featured a few shrimps along with a few pieces of vegetables. The dipping sauces were all off though...I haven't had a gyoza sauce for tempura before...same with an aioli... The miso soup smelled great and was actually decent. Came here for a group dinner at a conference. Actual dining experience was great, our server and chefs were great and food was good. Tempura appetizer along with edamame were tasty. Had large hibachi reservation set in advance and was told absolute max was 16 people, there was no way they could accommodate 17 - then we show up and there are 17 seats at many tables, including ours. Just odd. A handful of our party also showed up a few minutes before the rest of the group and asked to be seated (since we had the whole table) - hostess was very rude, they were met with a significant amount of resistance but ultimately were seated after asking several times. Didn't love the $3 upcharge for fried rice instead of white (fried rice seems like a given for any hibachi place). Positive though was that they brought the wrong drink accidentally and comped it for our party. Dropped in for a NYE dinner with my wife. Had reservations via Open Table which is convenient that they offer that option. Seated immediately (we opted last minute for the bar vs a teppanyaki table experience). Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. Dinner was a few commons apps (edamame and gyoza) followed by sushi rolls and nigiri combo's. Everything was fresh as can be and made well. I asked the MOD to make something special for my wife after her birthday earlier in the month and they delivered a very nice cheesecake desert which was both delicious and just the right amount for two to share after filling sushi. My biggest complaint is that everything seems to be overseasoned. I ordered the lobster and filet combo. The filet was good but the lobster was way too salty and a disappointment (frankly i want to taste the lobster). I wlso tried bites of shrimp snd strip steak. The strip steak was actudlly cooked really well and was very tender. I was annoyed thry charged an extra $3 for fried rice when its just included in other places but the plain steamed rice was nice complement to the other overseasoned items. I'd give them a 3.5. We book our dinner reservation at 8pm for party of 10 on a Sunday night. We were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty spacious. We picked this place for convenience since we were staying at the hotel. I ordered the filet mignon with lobster tail. It came with miso soup and salad. Surprisingly the food was pretty good. Had hibachi dinner here two nights in a row. Most of the staff is friendly but others walk around looking angry. First night I had lobster which was over cooked and rubbery, fried rice lacked flavor but the veggies were perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The second night I went for the noodles instead of rice and they too were bland however the shrimp were cooked perfectly and delicious. The spring rolls were super burning hot and a bit heavy on the grease. If staying at the hotel out of ease I would go there but I would not go out of my way if I was not a hotel guest. I do highly suggest if you are planning to go there even as a hotel guest definitely make a reservation because the restaurant is small and books quickly. read more

One of the few onsite restaurants at World Center Marriott in Orlando. This is your standard Teppanyaki Japanese steakhouse dining experience. The restaurant is on the smaller side. We followed recommendations and made reservations to ensure a spot to enjoy the show. If you're not worried about the grill show there is bar seating for food and drinks as well. We ordered edamame and the tempura shrimp/veggie appetizers. Both were great starters to an awesome meal. Steak & Salmon, Lobster, Shrimp & Chicken dinners. Everything was delicious and fresh. We were most impressed with the amount of food, taste, and reheat the next day flavor. There will definitely be leftovers which made for a timely next day lunch. This is the Japanese steak house in the hotel. It just reopened so we were happy to get seats. We arrived right around our reservation time which I recommend not getting there early as they plan the seats around the hibachi with your time slot so if you get there early you may not get seated. So it is the standard fair, different combos of seafood, chicken and steak with sides of soup and salad. I had the steak and shrimp and it was really good. Very good flavors and the cook was spot on with the med rare cook. I will say the show was so so. He only made the onion volcano. None of the other stuff with the tools or shrimp. read more

The Filet Mignon you can cut in half with a fork (not that you need it, because they sliced everything up for you.) they have a kids menu too, which is amazing. Came here Tuesday night during Holiday Matsuri. They weren't busy. I made a reservation on Open Table to be sure, just in case they were. It's actually outside of the hotel but still attached. There's a giant sign above a door that leads to an outdoor area that you walk over to get to it. The hostess stand is large and in the middle. I did notice they didn't have a separate area for sushi, everyone just sat at the hibachi tables. The host and server and chef were great. I let them know I was gluten and dairy free. I was bummed I couldn't have the salad or miso soup since both had some sort of gluten in it. Soy is notorious for having gluten sadly. The yum yum sauce even had dairy in it. But it was a fate I was willing to accept and I took lactaid when I went back to my room. Everything was really delicious otherwise. The restroom was also nice and clean too. Overall it wasn't too bad for pricing, I was worried, but I managed to only have it be around $30 for what I had and tip. read more

We were seated at exactly 830pm which was when our reservation was, it took about 45 minutes to finish taking our orders and order our food. Way too long! They were out of stock in noodles, which is pretty bizarre for a japanese restaurant. Otherwise the experience and food was good. They have more salty flavors than sweet, for example the ginger dressing on the house salad was different than im used to. I would give more stars, but it wasn't a fantastic experience due to their operational issues and the bill was up there. read more

Bad experience. The waiter was pushy to get the order then barely revisit the table to refill drinks. My son got a tofu dish and the chef put chicken on it hf way while he was eating it. The waiter did not care and no refund for his meal she was only concerned about the check and this is really the only time we seen her. Left then while walking back in the family next to us at the table told me it was the worst hibachi experience they ever had also. The chef did no show. The manager did nothing about it. went to the front desk to complain and they took the info down to send a formal complaint. Only reason for two stars is my tuna entree was above average. The rest of the meal, I could not bring myself to eat. Our chef ("David") prepared our food in so much oil he was creating a wake trying to shovel it off the cook top between courses; it was completely disgusting. He also made no effort whatsoever on the show side; he did the typical spinning egg and the volcano, that was about it. I honestly could care less about the show side if the food is good, but it wasn't, so at least give us some entertainment. My wife had filet, ordered rare. He cut everyone's filet up in advance, which causes it to took quite rapidly and throughout, so even though hers came off first given the rare order, it was already medium by that point. Everyone else saw this and started asking for theirs early, which tells you how things were going. My miso soup was bland, the veggies, as mentioned earlier, were more oil than vegetable. They do not have a full sushi bar, so the sushi side of the menu is three rolls, and given they don't make any other sushi, I'd advise passing on those rolls. The salad was average at best. Last but not least, they do not have the sauces you'd expect. Most Teppanyaki restaurants you'll encounter two sauces; a mustard-based "white" sauce, and a ginger-based "brown" sauce. At this restaurant, you get a disgusting "yum yum" sauce, which is basically melted mayonnaise, and the ginger sauce has been replaced with soy sauce mixed with sesame seeds. You can already have soy sauce, what's the point of giving it to you again and calling it something else? Just a completely mediocre to poor experience; won't be back. read more

The Sushi Bar is where I found my value in this excellent restaurant. Judy was my bartender/server and her pleasant charm convinced me to stay at the bar and enjoy one of the 3 entrees available. The hibachi tables have more options but the value for me was clearly at the bar. My mixed cocktail was very good along with the Lobster Tempura, I thought an excellent value and the Yakisoba entree. This $16.95 meal better than most beef/shrimp combos in any restaurant thus far. The amount of beef and shrimp was a pleasant surprise for me and you should enjoy it as well. The noodles firm and tasty, just the right amount of vegetables. I preferred the yum yum sauce vs using soy and I thought added a good flavor to the dish. I did consider a sushi appetizer but opted for the lobster tempura based on Judy's suggestion and so glad I did. While not a fan of octopus, it appeared fresh like all the other ingredients on the bar. read more

It's a below average restaurant for a resort addressing the below average quality requirements of Disney goers. And it's expensive also.

We used to come to this Hotel and this restaurant all the time. It was our "spot" unfortunately the years have passed and the restaurant did the same! It's old smelly and the food is nothing like it used to be. The waiter had his uniform all dirty he looked more like he had been working on his car than at the restaurant. The cooks used to do all these tricks and they were so fun, now they look tired and bored with their job. They do nothing but cook in front of you. The food was tasteless the chicken over cooked and mixed with the seafood. So sad. It looks like a bad copy of an old Benihana. Also the hotel is in bad shape. We said goodbye to our favorite spot and will not be coming back! read more

We were staying at this resort for Christmas and decided to make dinner reservations here. Our 1 son has never been a fan of teppanyaki restaurants, but was willing to give it a try. We made Christmas Day late dinner reservations on Open Table. The food was good, our server and chef were great, but our table mates were not great. The couple next to me made a lot of unusual requests and then barely ate anything. The family next to my wife didn't speak much English and their young daughter was watching the phone the entire time. It was still a fun evening, but as I wouldn't stay at this resort ever again, it is doubtful we'd ever go back here. read more

Use to be one of our favorite restaurants for the last 30 years - our go too in Orlando. The quality of food has dropped significantly. Frozen vegetables in the fried rice - no sprouts anymore and no shrimp. I can make the same food on my Blackstone or go to a 2nd rate Japanese steakhouse. Hopefully they reverse their course of action and go back to 100% quality. We will go back, but will not be the go to anymore. read more
