Used the reliable GrubHub to have Mika's Greek gyro and greek fries delivered to my hotel nearby. The BEST gyro with extra gyro beef - I ordered the one with jalepenos and really wanted them to be grilled with grilled green peppers and onions but instead all of the veggies were raw. Given it was 8:10pm when we called in our pick-up order, I guess I would expect the quality, but my boyfriend and I were hoping for more since we paid $30 for our meal. We ordered a gyro and greek chicken plate with fries and a salad in addition to a chicken souvlaki wrap, mediterranean style with fries and a couple drinks. Our hot fries were placed next to cold veggies in plastic to go containers that don't seem heat safe; fries were soggy and otherwise lacking. I got two hunks of whole chicken breast and a few slices of pickle and onion with a weak spread of sauce, not what I had in mind. My boyfriend was disappointed his large plate didn't come with pita, and that his "greek" chicken was no different from my chicken "souvlaki." I was surprised by this little place! Saw them pop up about a month or so ago. Nice to have another place open on Saturdays close to my neighborhood as most are closed weekends. Decor is clean and modern, customer service was good, and food was done quickly. I was happy to see they cooked and prepared everything while I waited so it was fresh. I orded a greek chicken platter with rice and salad as my sides. Chicken was flavorful and moist, rice was perfectly tender and spiced, salad was fresh and had the right amount of everything. Pricey for what you get- and the hummus reminds me of baby purée, the consistency is weird. We keep coming to see if it gets better but it's just disappointing knowing you can get a better meal somewhere else. $16 for a meal with a drink?! Solid selection if meats, salads, hummus, toppings, ect. The service was fast and really quite friendly. They accept credit cards, cash, and even square if you are into that movement. The original gyro and side salad is honestly more than enough food to feed one for dinner. They also have a wheat pita option but you might have to ask. The ambience is clean, quiet, and nice all around. Parking out front is a little hectic but I believe there is more around the back. Enjoy! I know I will be back when I return to Phoenix. read more

I also had an order of hummus, regular and jalapeño.... they were both very good, although they don't give enough pita for how much hummus you get. Buy a couple extra. If you like eating fast food then proceed. If not, then skip this place. The food was not fresh, you could tell the lettuce had been sitting out. They had tiny strips of onions, and a few baby cubes of bell peppers as the "veggies." The pita was way overstuffed with chicken. /: my boyfriend got the felafel pita... he took two bites, the second one he actually spit onto a napkin. One word. PATHETIC. I have ordered out from Mika's five times. None of those experiences were impressive. The last time, about 3 weeks ago, was the worst. The woman who took my order over the phone could not get it right. She spoke English fluently, but kept repeating the wrong order. I finally spelled it out for her. After I picked up my order and got it home, I found that my HOT grilled Greek Chicken was packed in the same container as my COLD Greek Salad. Needless to say the salad was wilted and inedible. Plus they put in ONE Kalamata Olive. ONE! The feta cheese was miniscule; and the salad greens were wilted & soggy. Only good item was the chicken, after I reheated it. My wife ordered Chicken SOUVLAKI with Rice. That was ok. But we also ordered from the Kid's Menu: Grilled Greek Chicken with Fries. ( Yeah, I know. A "Greek" restaurant that serves French Fries.) It would have been acceptable if the fries were cooked correctly. But these potato strips were beyond pathetic. Cold, soaked in old smelly deep fry oil that probably hadn't been changed in a year. They resembled sponges. If you twisted them, oil would pour out. Of course the chicken was packed in the same container as the pathetic fries, so it all stunk from old dirty deep fry oil. I was going to throw it out along with my wilted salad, but then decided to offer the chicken & frys to my dog. He took one whiff of them and walked away hungry. Here's what I witnessed another time at Mika's Greek: I drove over there and ordered takeout. Greek Grilled Chicken and Dolmathes. I sat in their "dining room" at a high stool & table. I watched the "chef" in the open kitchen. It was then that I saw that he did not wash is hands after handling raw chicken. He would take the poultry out of a container and toss it on the hot grill with bare hands . Then he would wipe his contaminated hands on a side towel. Then use the same side towel to wipe up the work station. At that point the chef noticed me watching him. He realized he committed health code violations. But he STILL didn't correct them. Now he put on foodsafe gloves while handling raw chicken, but then only rinsed his gloved hands off with cold water, wiped hands on the previously salmonella soiled side towel, and proceeded to make the raw cold vegetable Greek salad. When I got the food home I put the hot food into my warming oven for 2 hours at 200°F. That would kill the bacteria that "chef" had given me. Chicken was ok, albeit dry, but at least I knew I wouldn't spend the night in the ER with food borne illness. One last note. Remember the Dolmathes that I mentioned earlier? In case you don't know, these are grape leaves stuffed with rice. When I bit into mine, there was no rice. Mika's Greek stuffed MY Dolmathes with...you ready......?.....Mashed up soggy french fried potatoes. I kid you not. So my grade for Mika's Greek in PHX is.....an "F". read more
