Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

We were surprised to see the restaurant had the front door propped completely open letting the hot air into the restaurant. Since this is a small restaurant you really couldn't escape the heat. The heat unfortunately caused us to leave after a short while.

Band was great and also not too loud to not enjoy conversation. Their wine list is massive, so we added the wine pairing to our dinner to try a few types. Our server Pablo educated us thoroughly in so many varieties and countries we never experienced - and we left with at least two new favorites! Our own personal sommelier I'm on a mission to find these bottles. We were so lucky to have gotten him. Although we initially came for the four course menu, they shared they offered other options including an omakase option (it's chef's choice that will take you through the menu with options for each area of it) and it was the best $150 pp choice we've made!! It even changed my mind on dishes I normally wouldn't lean toward like beef tartare. Chef Jason does not play any games!!! Our server, the manager Gilles, and each person we encountered from the moment we walked in were so welcoming. And the location is beautiful!! We couldn't stop smiling. It was just so fun. But the 40 pounds of oranges I ordered are green (unripe by any definition), smooshed, and moldy. I've no idea why these weren't rejected as well, but as it was pouring buckets during pickup and they only allowed you to drive up while they put the stuff in your car -and then you have to leave, you don't get to inspect anything before leaving, which means if there is a problem you're just out the money. - There's a new twist to their rules of having to inspect your baskets before you leave or you're just out the money. Lucky me, I got to spend $27 on moldy beans and $29 on unripe nasty oranges. I tried to email the "owners" (Tanya and Sally) but guess what! The email address is INVALID and there is absolutely no way to contact the people who took your money. There is no number to call and no recourse. DO NOT buy into this scam. Simple requests for minor changes were ignored and then one of our guest took a bite of the vegetable on his plate he ended up with a shard of glass or plastic or something in his mouth which nearly cut him. This was brought to the servers attention and it was very clear that he couldn't care less, has to flat out tell him we expected a re-fire on the plate since who knew if it was safe to eat. When he returned with the "new" plate (which we question if it was really remade or if they just moved it to a new plate) he ended up blaming it on the guest saying he must have broken off a piece from the salt grinder but then it took us pointing out that if that's the case he should probably remove the broken grinder before it happens to someone else. Since I live local I was hoping this would be a place I'd be adding to my "places to go" when in downtown but no chance I'd ever return.
