My friend was visiting for the weekend from SF and he hasn't been in 5+ years so we decided to go for lunch. We started with the Franimal Fries. It took about almost 20 minutes to come out which They were busy so I understand. When they mean "everything that comes on a Mikes Burger" they mean it! It was good but the cut up burger patty was overcooked. We were all really hungry and it hit the spot. I ordered the Grilled Cheese a La Miguel with a patty, grilled onions and a side of pesto. While I was eating it I couldn't put my finger on what tasted different. Then about half way done with my first half I realized it had no fresh tomatoes or fresh herbs. At this point I was done and was going to take my other half home so I didn't say anything to our server. What I should have told our server was that the Macaroni Salad did not taste right, maybe a new recipe? It's like they almost forgot an ingredient. It had a watery taste which we all didn't like. Overall my friends experience was disappointing considering he was craving it. This was my first time here and I can honestly say this was one of the best burgers I've had. I had the garlic "stinky breath burger" with a side of pesto ( I couldn't choose between the pesto and garlic burgers so I combined them) and a side of garlic fries. While I think they may have switched up the patties ( my BF asked for med-well and I like medium) it was still an awesome burger. He also enjoyed his western burger and didn't notice. Food was fine. The burger was a good size and the flavor was good. But it was not worth the price. My table ordered two burgers, one order of fries, and one soda and the total was $45 (before tip and fees) For the price, I would expect fries to be included but that costs an extra $3.50. It does come with an option of macaroni salad, potato salad, salad, or house made chips. Except, I guess as of today, the chips also cost an extra $4 (This is not stated on the menu - the server stated he didn't know why they charge for them now but that they're serving a different type of chip) To add on to the steep price, I was not told that there would be a service charge to use my credit card til after they charged my card. The cheesecake was the best thing ever! Also, it was huge. They have a new flavor every month and for March it is mint chip. Been coming here for over 10 years since high school. Now living in San Jose, I have to make a visit to Mikes every time I visit home. Every time my burger is perfectly cooked and juicy. I've gotten almost every burger on the menu but this time I ordered the Moo-ben burger. The corn beef was an excellent topping. The burger wasn't over topped with corn beef, but enough to have some in every bite. The only thing I wish was different was if burger had a little more thousand island dressing on it, but that just my personal taste. Coming out swinging from covid lockdown mikes has always had a place deer to my heart. One of the first gourmet burger joints I went to. Had the Cotati jam burger. * My 600th review * "One mean burger" That's what Mike's slogan says on their menu and as I was sitting at the counter perusing the burger choices, I couldn't help but wonder if it will indeed live up to its slogan. I remember Jason C mentioning this place as one of the best burgers he's had. The verdict? small town Cotati should be proud! this burger joint has got it right. MIke's burgers are always cooked medium, unless you want it otherwise. The meat is mouthwatering and juicy! that's no surprise since they use Harris Ranch (grain fed) beef. You get two slices of cheese on your burger, placed on top and bottom of your patty! The cheese is standard, so if you don't want cheese, they'll charge you a nickel to take it off. Seriously! My only gripe is the bun, it's not hardy enough to withstand the meat and toppings, I was only halfway done and my bun has already broken into a hundred different parts. Also, my fries were a little overcooked, but I was starving so I finished everything in sight! Service was pretty casual, but forgetful at times. But if you're in the area, skip In and Out and head over to Mike's for one mean burger! read more

This burger was like my hometown stuff. Loved it. I got the bacon jam which was interesting. They used the thinest greasy bacon they could find mixed in with pickled onions. Had to eat it by itself with a fork for a little while, trying to determine my like level. I could live without it, much rather have a big slab of cheese to go with it. The burger itself is great even without anything on top. The bun was strangely toasted only on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside, Nice! And no mustard on any of them, that is one thing less to worry about. read more

We find ourselves returning to Mike's at the Crossroads over Super Burger over and over again. Diego, their long time chef (of at least 15 years) really knows how to dial in a juicy medium rare burger every time. These burgers are ginormous. Serving a burger to satisfy your palate, you're bound to find something pleasing. Do you like garlic? Want to keep the vampires away? Try the Stinky Breath Burger that has an unbelievable amount of roasted garlic. FYI- You will toot garlic the next day. Like mushrooms? Try the KRUSH Burger. There is a burger with Pesto and their latest creation is the Cotati Jam with onions and bacon. My personal favorite is the Belle Burger. Sauteed red onions topped off with fresh basil. You have sides you can choose from: potato salad, mac salad, fries, garlic fries, sweet potato, green salad or chips. This garlic lover goes for garlic fries. And boy are they not shy when they toss those fried in garlic. Unfortunately the fries are already Sysco thick cut. I prefer thin sliced. More crispy that way. Used to go to Mike's for burgers once upon a time. Went there last night for the first time in probably a decade, got three Mike's burgers and three orders of fries (for three people) and ONE pepsi for the kid... and it was $66. Beef had no flavor. That's it, I give up on eating out. Restaurants can all close and we'll go back to eating street-food (rats) from vendor carts. What a stupid civilization. read more

For about $12, you get a half-pound burger, with a choice of potato salad, macaroni salad, green salad with raspberry vinaigrette, or waffle cut chips. They've got really interesting burger topping ideas, some I hadn't seen before (see pics of the menu). They've named the burgers, and honestly you might feel silly ordering a few of them. I got the "Belle Burger"-- rosemary, basil and sauteed red onion, and a green salad. I didn't love my burger. It was dry, and the pile of red onion was overpowering. But I still like the idea of it, esp the basil, so Mike gets credit for that. Service was minimal, no refills offered, nobody checked on us. Portions are huge. My salad was literally falling off the plate, and the burger was so big it was hard to eat. I'd prefer to pay a bit less and not have leftovers for days that I won't touch. read more

My son and I decided to try a new burger place and settled on Mike's. After paying for my order and opting for takeout, my first instinct was that the price was a little high, but decided to reserve judgment until tasting the food. I'll happily pay a premium for delicious fare, and Mike's certainly delivered on that front. To be clear, $15 for a great burger is reasonable, in my mind. My son and I were blown away by the burgers and both agreed that their fries are some of the best we've had. My son had the P-Town burger, add bacon, and I had the Rye-lee Melt. This is not the mikes we all remember. The food was good. That's why it got 3 stars. The portion sizes where small, service non existent. The waitress was more interested in talking to the other party. Than waiting on me. I had to ask for my check from the other waitress who was just standing behind the counter. $19 for a beer, burger and garlic fries is a little much when I was still hungry. Saturday afternoon out running errands we found Mike's to be nearby and after viewing lots of reviews (mostly photos) we decided we needed to see for ourselves. There were lots of open tables to choose from, one gal helping customers and two guys in the kitchen. We were promptly greeted and told to seat ourselves. Our server was attentive, but not overly friendly. Our order was taken asked if we needed anything else. Cut, dry, no frills. Our burgers came up pretty quickly since there were only a few tables at that time. One burger/fries and one burger/mac salad. As many reviews that raved about the macaroni salad, I was sadly disappointed. I stuck with fries and called it good. Both burgers were done just right. Big burgers, enough to take half your meal home. Our first visit was good, and I am giving 4 stars but I don't think I'd make a special trip to town for one. read more

This place, of all the places I've tried up north, and I live in RohnertPark, is the most consistently, very very good hamburger. If you want great ambiance it's not the best, but it is clean, efficient, and a good "diner" type place. If you want a great tasting hamburger, cooked well, great seasoning, and very generous with both the burger and whatever fries you chose, this is the place. I am VERY picky when it comes to hamburgers and I must say- this is the best. A little pricey- but worth it when you want more than the fast food deal. read more

Hmm. I was just reading my last review! After my visit tonight I'm wondering why I gave them 4 stars?! The waiter was a decent guy. He wasn't very inviting or happy. He was just doing his job. Apparently he didn't want to ask if we needed refills on our empty beverages. So that was a nice touch. I didn't think the burger I had was spectacular by any means. I got the Krush (mushroom, cheddar) it was eh. I thought it was a bit too salty. I don't know I've had better experiences at Super Burger. read more

I don't really give a lot of places 5 stars, but Mike's at the Crossroads deserve 6! On a beautiful Cotati day, I got to try both the Great Western Hickory Burger and the Pesty Pesto Burger (see photos). The Hickory Burger came smothered in sweet-n-tangy BBQ sauce and 2 slices of bacon. It is a messy burger to eat, but still very tasty and finger lickin' good. The Pesto Burger was served with a dollop of creamy pesto. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to taste it because I felt my taste buds were still reeling from the BBQ flavor, but I was happy to see it was still bold enough to hold its own. The meat patties were thick, almost 3/4inch in height, and cooked perfectly. The meat was also very tender, not at all chewy, dry, or full of weird pieces of cartilage/bone/etc that sometimes interrupt my enjoyment of the burger. Originally I had asked for the macaroni side AND a side salad (it looked so good I wanted to try it too), but the waitress misunderstood me and substituted my macaroni for the salad. It all worked out in the end though because the salad, dressed with a light Italian vinaigrette, was more to my liking. The macaroni salad was alright, but it had faint pinkish color (perhaps ketchup) and relish in it which made it too sweet. I prefer my macaroni salad creamy. And as I looked around the restaurant, I was pleased to see that I wasn't the only one that made this call. A majority of the big, biker dudes had all ordered salad too! The staff were on point with the drink refills and pleasant. I love that all burgers are served with mandatory cheese. This practice should be made into burger law. read more

A fall from grace. Mike's was my favorite burger of all time. A year or two ago I would have died defending that statement, but all good things must come to an end. After Mike's was sold, many years ago, the changes began to creep in; fries, higher prices, a revolving door or cooks, new beef supplier, etc. I tried my best to ignore the warning signs, telling myself that it was just a fluke that the burgers were overdone and under-seasoned. But after my last two visits I can no longer stick up for Mike's. Over the past 7+ years of living in LA, I made a point of going to Mike's 3-4 times a year on every visit to my parents house. Over the last two years, I don't think I've been in love with a single burger. I've never seen the same cook twice, I've only had one burger come out with any pink, and service was so horrid last time that I was embarrassed for my family. I'm sure I'll drop back into Mike's in the future, but a new crop of burgers have arisen in Sonoma/Napa that I look forward to trying. In the meantime, sorry Mike's, my picture of your burger is coming off my Capitol One credit card. read more
