I was so excited to try Mike's after moving to Boston and learning about the cannoli essential experience in the North End. The long line outside was a great sign and luckily it moved pretty quickly! They are cash only as well as Modern Pastry down the road. Be prepared to order and pay fast. The chocolate ricotta cannoli was absolutely divine and the best cannoli I ever had. The Dubai I thought was a bit overdone with the pistachio filling and it tasted more sugary than nutty imo. I will definitely be back again for the chocolate ricotta cannoli and try some more of the classic flavors!
What can I say? The HYPE is real. I was there on a Monday, no wait. I got a regular canoli and ate it right out of the box. So fresh and yummy. Don't let a line deter you, it moves fast. Just go. That is all. Cash only.

Popular bakery in the North End for Cannolis and pastries, this is cash only. We came in on a Friday afternoon and there wasn't really a wait. We saw everyone walking around with their boxes and had to try their $9 cannolis. Our group was 4 adults and a toddler and we def ordered too much. We got a lobster tail and 4 cannolis, we would have definitely finished 2 cannolis amongst us and probably could have done without the lobster tail, it was something nice to try but they don't have napkins or seating and on a hot summer day, we tried to eat it standing and it was messy. The creams were really good and it was good fresh but it was quite sweet for me. We got the lobster tail which was a cream filled pastry and that had a lot of powder on top. For cannolis we got pistachio, lemon ricotta, chocolate ricotta, and Florentine. The Florentine cost a little more because it was a hard coated sugar crust. I preferred the lighter less sweet cannoli's like the lemon ricotta and pistachio. They were all good, but it was a lot for us, definitely shareable. The North End can get busy and it's an area full of restaurants, street parking is difficult. Service was efficient. More of a grab and go spot.
This location is the original, but there are now others. It tends to be crowded with about 6 or so long lines. It's probably because it's a block from the Freedom Trail near Paul Revere's house and popular Italian restaurants and shops. If you see people walking around with a white (multiple cannolis/desserts) or blue (single cannoli) box tied with string, you know you must be nearby a Mike's Pastry. Though the line gets long, it does move quickly, and there are periods where it's not so crowded inside. It's cash only at this location. I didn't think I'd be here that day and realized I didn't crab enough cash but saw the sign for Uber Eats and GrubHub pick up, so I just placed an order for pick up from my phone on Uber Eats. It took about 5 minutes when I got my cute blue box order. There is a Bank of America down the same street if you need to withdraw cash which I later did. I'm sure there's also ATMs nearby. I think it's easier and quicker to order through Uber Eats or GrubHub and pick up. I've been here once before about 12 years ago. I tried the pistachio cannoli that time and loved it. This time, I wanted to try a different flavor, so I got the hazelnut cannoli. It didn't have the nuts I was expecting from the photo on the wall. It didn't quite taste like hazelnut to me at all. I regretted not trying something else. I eventually did at Hub Hall (another food hall) connected to North Station. This location is a little more expensive by $1-2 for cannolis compared to the one in Hub Hall and sells other desserts like turnovers, donuts, croissants and sticks if you don't want a cannoli (but then why come here for anything else?) There's also nowhere to sit.
Let me preface my review by saying that I am not a cannoli fan. I rather spend $8 on a different dessert, like a really good gelato. However, Mike's cannolis is an iconic Boston pastry shop that is a must-stop for first-time visitors. There are so many different flavors of cannolis. I got their blueberry mascarpone flavor and it was unique. All the cannolis are a bit too sweet for me (1 star off) and the other desserts do not look appealing (1 star off). Again, this is my opinion only. Note: Cash only.
Amazing cannoli. If you are at Little Italy in North End, definitely give place a try. They also have a TON of other pastries other than cannoli, but cannoli is what this place is known for. The cannoli is a bit on the pricier end ($8 for one), but it is a rather large cannoli. Very tasty and satisfied my sweet craving for the day. Of note, this place is cash only.
****CASH ONLY*** We specifically came to this place for breakfast, and had to leave as they only take cash. We came back the next day and ordered cannoli, neopolitan, and butter cookies. The people at the counter were not very friendly. The desserts were good, the cannoli was delicious with a smooth, silky filling and chocolate chips.
Came back again on another trip and had to stop by Mike's Pastry once again! Before you go, make sure you have cash (it is cash only). The inside is very simple - just a large area to order your pastries and go. It gets super busy in here and it's often filled with people waiting in line. The people behind the counter are quick to pack your order and are always friendly. The pastries have never disappointed. The Neapolitan was a very good, true pastry like the ones I get in New York. The icing is sweet, the layers were crunchy, and the filling was the perfect amount.
It was worth the 35 minute wait for a delicious lobster tail and cannoli but the standout was the ricotta cheese pie slice. Bring cash and patience as it's crowded and they have 3-4 lines moving at a time.
Pastry store with lots of options and flavors! Cash only. When you walk in you can see cases of pastries and workers ready to take your order. The box it up for you and tie it up after asking if you want some powdered sugar to top on your pastries. The pistachio cannoli had great texture. First bite had all the pistachio pieces. The middle part was not too sweet with a slightly crisp crust wrapping it. The Boston cream slice was ok. Was not for me texture wise but did like the chocolate on top.
When we were at Harvard we saw Mike's Pastry and I thought about stopping in to buy cannoli but I didn't because we were planning to go to Paul Revere's house in North End and this Mike's Pastry location is a couple of blocks away. If I had gone to the Harvard location I would have been in and out in 5-10 minutes. That was not the case at the North End location but in fairness it was Friday night and around the time people want dessert. The North End location had four lines from the counter to the door with the line out the door. They take cash only but while you wait you have plenty of time to decide on what you actually want to get. They have 10+ cannoli flavors plus many other pastries. We opted for a pistachio cannoli and a amaretto cannoli. The cannoli were twice the size of what I was anticipating so we split one on Friday and split the other on Saturday. If I went back I'd get the amaretto again. The pistachio was mostly ricotta tasting. If you go, go early and bring cash!
Went again this time get the fueilltine cannoli. Best I've ever had and the lobster claw always a winner. We didn't like the cookie it as dry but will come back every time!!!

Love the fresh filled cannolis at Mike's! Don't be discouraged by the long line because it moves fast. My favorite is the chocolate chip cannoli and I had to stop here this trip. The shell is light and crispy and it's filled with a delicious lightly sweet and creamy ricotta filling. The ends are covered in mini chocolate chips. So good! read more

Classic Italian feel in this bustling bakery. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. There are so many wonderful treats it can be a little overwhelming but we chose the pistachio cannoli for a little pick me up on our stroll in North End. It was hands down the best cannoli I have ever had! Will definitely stop here again before heading home. read more
After a sub sandwich lunch in the Paul Revere park picked up 5 cannolis to share. Cut them in half for three of us and shared. Brought home at least 2-3 cannolis. Really a great dessert. I wish the lines were shorter though. read more
Friendly excellent service. They were out of lobster tails so couldn't try. Had the small ones in chocolate. Amazing with thick shell chocolate. Cannoli pistachio - great ! Carrot cake - very good ! Definitely a tourist trap sort of place but I think Mikes deserves all the hype they get! If you don't want to wait inside as I hear it can be quite packed you can order delivery which is what I did. I tried the whoopie pie and the neopalitan. The whoopie pie is a 5/5. I had a best friend when I was a kid whose family was from Maine. Whoopie pies are a huge thing for them and her grandma who lived next door would make them for us as kids. Mikes whoopie pie is spot on and reminded me of what I had when I was a kid. Great nostalgia. The neopalitan was the first dessert my now partner gifted me when he worked at a bakery almost 10 years ago. I haven't had one like it in a long time. This one was quite good. Not as good as the one I had years ago but close. Overall the desserts are fabulous and there is a wide array so you are sure to find something you like. And their packaging is gorgeous. This was my favorite stop on my North End cannoli tour. I loved that the filling gave more of a ricotta v icing vibe. Not too sweet. Just perfect. The shell was light and crispy and really provided balance. They are on the bigger side so could probably share if this is an after dinner treat... or maybe two to try the options. We kept seeing everybody walking around with boxes from Mike's Pastry shop. We figured we had to stop in and there was a line at 7:30pm. A line of like 40+ people. They work through that line quickly when the customers use their brains. We got a selection of cannoli's. When we finally got the chance to taste them, they were fantastic! read more

A must try when you're in Boston! A large selection of different types of Italian cannolis and other desserts. These are the best cannolis that I've had. The shells are flaky and the filling is rich and creamy. A great place to stop by when you want something sweet! We stopped by Mike's Pastry in the North End, and it was absolutely worth the visit. We ordered the crème brûlée, pistachio cannoli, and a slice of carrot cake. While everything was good, the crème brûlée was hands down our favorite pastry here. It was incredibly flavorful, perfectly creamy, and beautifully balanced--easily the standout of the visit. The pistachio cannoli was classic and enjoyable, and the carrot cake was solid as well, but the crème brûlée really stole the show for us. If you're visiting Mike's Pastry, definitely try a few things--but don't skip the crème brûlée. We'd absolutely get it again. read more

I tried to go on a cannoli tasting tour, but I didn't have enough stomach room by the time I got to here. This place is very large, busy, and efficient. Wherever you see the hanging spheres, it's a line with a staff member to help you. It took my friend and I a bit to figure it out. They take orders and wrap the to go boxes well (securely, efficiently, and conveniently). Out of the three cannoli places I visited (Mike's, Modern Pastry, and Bova's) they definitely have the largest variety of filling options...and desserts in overall. Instead of the cannolis, my friend and I ordered a Tiramisu (my friend had a craving) and Boston Crème Pie (when in Boston) to go. It's cash only and not really anywhere you can sit down to eat. It's a hustle and bustle type of environment with no frills. Staff were courteous. After opening up the box, we were kind of disappointed. The Tiramisu was not a traditional one like my friend was hoping for and the Boston Crème Pie was just okay. It's definitely a tourist destination, but I don't think I would revisit it. read more

A must when in Boston! Had to stop by and try the famous lobster tail and of course, you can't forget the cannoli! The lobster tails are huge and the cannoli was so so good. There were multiple lines but they went by pretty quick. I'd go back for the cannoli. read more

The iconic Mike's pastry was a must stop on our trip to Boston. The line did seem long down the block and it was a cold day, but I think we waited around 30 minutes which isn't the worst, but given the chaotic nature of the inside where no one knows what is going on it felt very overwhelming. If you are trying to get some pastries for your family, I really recommend just having one person go inside the store and ordering for everyone that is waiting outside. Once you get to the front after scrambling through people who you are are not sure if they are in a line or not, the service is quick and attentive and accurate. We grabbed our cannolis and ran out of there. We got a chocolate chip cannoli , Dubai chocolate flavor, and pumpkin pie flavor. The Dubi chocolate one was completely dipped in chocolate, and I thought that that was too much I would've preferred to enjoy the actual shell of the cannoli, but I really enjoyed the pistachio flavor. My favorite one overall was the classic chocolate chip cannoli that was just a classic cannoli with mini chocolate chips pushed in on the outside. If I were going to go back, I would simply get a handful of more original style cannolis. Those were my favorite. read more
It is a bakery with every Italian American dessert you can think of! It is cash only and only to go. There is no seating available and your to go orders come in a box. My mission was to try the cannoli and since it was fall they had a pumpkin flavored one and it was delish! They only sell it in their regular size and there is a minimum to order their minis. Mike's Pastry is one of the many amazing pastry shops in the NorthEnd. If you are visiting Boston, you gotta try both Mike's and Modern. Both are great, and it's fun to do taste tests to find who is better at what. I loved the black and white cookie from Mike's. It's soft, sweet, and a great size. I had wished the cannoli had a crispier shell and was sweeter, but it's still a really good cannoli. read more
1) LONG LINES, BUT MOVES QUICKLY 2) JUST THE CANNOLI, don't get other things 3) BRING CASH LOGISTICS: the line out the door is intimidating, but luckily it moves quick. It's utter chaos inside. There's one line outside but once you get inside, there's 5 or 6 separate lines. If you pick the far right, you can see some of the things in the case along the side. WHAT TO GET: cannoli, hands down! $10 each. The ricotta filling is light and not too sweet, the shell is fresh and crunchy. We got the pistachio and the Florentine. Pistachio was *chefs kiss* I would get that again in a heart beat! Florentine was also delicious, but because the shell is covered in caramel, it's sticky and crunchy. Delicious, but totally extra and not necessary against the ricotta filling, and didn't need the mini chocolate chips. I'm probably not enjoying it correctly, so shoot me. Almost all other items we got were very disappointing. I was thinking - given the amount of customers they have daily, their pastries have got to be fresh and amazing. Could still have been fresh (didn't seem like the case for all items), but the taste lacked. Napoleon $7 - not sure if this is done in an Italian way, but the "custard" was more like frosting, it was that thick. The puff pastry was also soft and damp, not crispy and fresh. The top was also decorated like an opera cake, with vanilla and chocolate swirled frosting, too sweet. Chocolate Lobster Tail $7 - mmm the cone was hard, too firm really. The whipped cream (I think?) inside was so light and fresh though, my favorite part. Didn't need the chocolate exterior, in my opinion, but someone in my group wanted it. Good quality dark chocolate. Sfogliatelle $6 - this one was also too firm for me (stale?) and the filing was orange (a surprise)! Largely left untouched by our group of 5. Boston Cream Donut $5 - custard and chocolate frosting both too sweet for me as well. read more
Be aware that this spot is CASH ONLY! Located in the North end, this bakery is always bustling with people. From its popular (and abundant number of cannolis) to their Boston creme pies to their other delicious pastries, Mike's Pastry is great for a sweet treat. I got their Boston cream pie here (my first time trying one) and I thought it was great. I was worried it would be too indulgent and overly sweet but it was perfect. Definitely have to come back here to try their cannolis one day (I mean, as I walked out, a man walked back in just to say that their cannolis were the best he's ever had). read more

Mike's might be known for its cannolis, but oh my gosh are all their desserts just as delicious and noteworthy!! Their Boston cream pie in particular is one of the best I've had! There's something so nostalgic and comforting about their simple flavors done just right, so it satisfies and surprises your sweet tooth all at the same time. The service here is always fast, efficient, and caring despite often long lines and a busy environment. Regardless, you're sure to get your pastry or dessert of choice in no time! Even at night they have a wide selection to choose from and it's just as fresh as in the day. I love the clean, relaxed atmosphere with a subtly chic vibe to bring a modern, elevated dining experience to the old, traditional north end. And they definitely still reflect that tradition in their vast pastry cases covering two walls of the space and even more of their cookies along the back wall. A visit here is such a unique and fun one in Boston that everyone must experience at least once! Not to mention, their desserts are all at an extremely reasonable price considering their size, quality, and reputation. Everything from the baked goods to the atmosphere makes Mike's a place to remember and certainly worth the hype! read more

Mike's Pastry is one of Boston's most renowned Italian bakeries. Every time I go to Boston, I always try to stop at Mike's Pastry in historic North End or one of their other 3 locations for their cannolis. Mike's Pastry in the North End is a good size bakery, but there is always a line to get to the counter to order. There are mouthwatering pastries in the display cases. On the wall, the different cannoli flavors are displayed. I chose the blueberry mascarpone cannoli. They are $7 each and cash only. Mike's Pastry is known for its iconic white box with bright blue lettering tied with string. The cannolis are always very delicious. The cannoli shell is crispy and the cannoli filling is so creamy and filled to the max. The staff member that assisted me was friendly and helpful. The line moved and didn't have to wait too long. read more

While we were dining on Hanover Street, we kept seeing people walking by with little boxes from Mike's. I had read that Mike's was a must stop in the North End but I'm a little spoiled by my experience on Arthur Ave in the Bronx, NY so I get real skeptical on how good stuff can actually be somewhere else. We decided to check it out and whoa the lines were long. Literally out the store, down the street. Thankfully, the line does move pretty fast and we only waited about 15 min. I'm actually glad we had to wait in line because neither my husband nor I carry cash and Mike's is a cash only establishment. There's a very large selection here and I'm glad that they still have such a large selection even late at night, like when we came after dinner. To be wholly honest, I don't think anything I had was that good. I especially did not like the lobster tail, which sadly is my favorite thing. I was so excited to have my husband try it because he didn't get a chance when we went to NYC a few years ago. He looked at me crazy for saying it was my favorite pastry (I let him try it first) and then I tried it and was super underwhelmed. It was dry but also soggy, with way too thick layers and literally no flavor. We didn't even try the chocolate one because we didn't like the regular. The ricotta pie was just ok, I took 3 bites and threw it out. The whoopie pie was too sweet and extra soggy. Super disappointed, especially given how expensive these pastries are. However, the rating is still high for those cannoli. No, they are not better than NY (sorry Boston, NY wins this one) and they aren't the best I've ever had but they were solid and the vast variety of flavors was impressive. I wish we had gotten a box of all cannoli. read more
You can't come to Boston and not stop at Mike's Pastry. The line was long (as expected), it's cash only, and totally worth the wait. We went with the strawberry cheesecake and the Boston cream pie, both rich, fresh, and gone before I could even think about a photo. That's always the best sign. Everything here feels a little chaotic but in that old-school, Boston bustling way that just works. No pics, no regrets just sugar induced happiness. read more
Oh. My. Lord. These pastries are *chef's kiss* We were visiting Boston and had seen this famous pastry shop all over Tik Tok, so we made it our mission to check it out. When we first arrived, we saw a gigantic linen out the door and were initially intimidated, but learned pretty quickly that the line moved pretty quickly. For reference, we maybe waited 25-30 minutes. Trust me, it was worth the wait! Make sure you bring cash otherwise you will be turned away. Luckily there are plenty of atms nearby. While your waiting, you can look at their large menu boards and decide what you want. Make sure that by the time you get to the counter that you're ready to order as things move fast here. We ordered an amaretto cannoli, chocolate covered lobster tail and a Boston cream puff. All three were absolutely incredible and were gobbled up so fast. We're definitely coming back next time we visit! read more
Worth the hype! Came on a raining morning with no line which was awesome since they usually have a long line outside the door. Ordered half a dozen cannoli from the woman who made my day. She was no nonsense and gave me solid recommendation. I ordered the chocolate chip, hazelnut, limoncello, oreo, pistachio, and the amaretto cannoli. AMAZING! It was the perfect blend of crispy and creamy. The shell was light, crispy, but had so much flavor. The fillings had just the right amount of sweetness. So smooth and rich without being heavy. I can't say enough about this pastry shop! The Blueberry Mascarpone Cannoli was unbelievably good. Forgot to take a picture but my sweet girlfriend took a picture of me unhinging my jaw like a snake to devour it on our FaceTime phone call! Also had a strawberry turnover that was delicious. Don't pass this up and get there at 8AM when they open to avoid the lines. read more
Here's a rare sighting: no line at Mike's Pastry on a Monday mid-morning. I practically floated through the door, but come the weekend that is not the case. The line is out the door, down the sidewalk and around the corner with tourists, locals, and cannoli devotees alike. I went with the classic cannoli, no chocolate chips, no frills, just pure ricotta glory. The shell was crisp and golden, the filling smooth, lightly sweet, and piled in generously. It's the kind of treat that makes you pause mid-bite and silently vow to come back for another. Mike's delivers a dessert that's worth every minute but I don't think I would ever stand on a huge line just to have one. You have to do it while in Boston though! Pretty famous for their Cannolis and it didn't disappoint with respect to that. We tried the most basic one - Ricotta cannoli - and it was probably the second best I've had (best so far is Alati in Montreal) till date. Quite fresh and tasty. The crust was quite thin, which is good. Having said that, the Boston Cream Pie was a bit let down. While it was great on the surface, the middle area was frozen and didn't leave a good taste. Ambiance in the store is something amazing. Very crowded but was being managed in an orderly manner. The cashier in your queue will only entertain one customer at a time, so there is no confusion as to who is waiting to pick up or yet to order. It's all cash - so make sure you have the cash enough for your order. Definitely to be tried but perhaps don't buy in to the hype. read more
4.5 stars Mike's Pastry had always been one of my favorite places to visit when I was in Boston, and I had planned to stop there on my recent trip as well. Before I made it there, I kept passing other folks carrying those iconic white boxes with blue writing, and it was as if the bakery would taunt me until I finally went. I headed over to the North End, fully prepared to join the typical, lengthy line leading down the block from the pastry shop. However, Saturday around 11:00 am was apparently an ideal time to go, as we only had to wait on a very brief queue. When we finally made it to the counter, the woman that helped us was a complete doll! I was shocked that she was able to remain so friendly when she was being swarmed by tourists, but clearly she was experienced with patience. Others might opt for the famed, multi-flavored cannolis, but I ordered my favorite of Mike's pastries - the brownie. The rich, fudgy square was topped with a thick layer of chocolate frosting, making it pure decadence. I also sampled the Champagne Cookies, which were made from white and pink dough and had been rolled in sprinkles around the edges. I liked that they were thickly sliced, so that they had some texture, but they were very lemony, which I had not expected, since they looked more like shortbread or butter cookies. A visit to Mike's Pastry might involve standing in line and shelling out a good deal of cash for your treats (credit cards not accepted), but a bite of their heavenly desserts, especially the brownies, made that all worth it! read more
Great baked goods, no complaints, the Sfogliatella was especially Devine. The cannoli was crispy and the filling creamy and tasty. It was a line queued to the door upon arrival. The lines, there were 4 or 5, move quickly depending on orders, the phone, etc. My server was very polite and quickly filled my order. It's been 18 years since my lady cannoli from mikes and it's exactly as I remembered except now all of the flavors are epic!!!!!! The original is definitely the best. That ricotta is just mmmmmmm so good. Next fave was the espresso. I'm a big coffee everything kind of gal so this definitely exceeded all expectations. The chocolate ricotta was phenomenal and we tried the special raspberry marscapone, while it was delish it was too much for us. Can't go wrong at mikes honestly.
