I've ordered take out from various places on the island and I must say that Mike's Place is on the top of my list. The food is always prepared right when or even less than the time the hostesses say they will be. They even throw in a complimentary dessert. The staff is always kind and welcoming. The food is absolutely amazing. They're open 24 hours, can't beat that! Mike's Place is there when I need them to be. Weather if it's for Sunday breakfast or 2 a.m munchies. Ordered take out of two corn beef sandwiches on Thursday March 17,2016 for St Patrick's Day. Delivery time was less than 30 minutes...not so bad yet. The pickles were the worst tasting pickle I ever bit into. Had to throw them away. My first bite into the sandwich resulted in the same reaction. Biting into the second sandwich confirmed the fact that there was so much gristle that I had to throw away the entire take out order. I was unable to chew through the corn beef. Went here for light supper. Wife and I ordered omlets. Waitress (Debbie) seemed somewhat spaced out, not sure about menu items. Did they use fresh or canned artichokes for omlets? She said yes. When I inquired further, she went back to kitchen and returned, saying no. She was always asking how is everything. My wife didn't want homefries or French fries and was told a baked potato substitution was an extra $ 1.50. When the bill came, we noticed that the prices listed on the bill were not those on the menu. I checked and found I had been overcharged more than $ 1.50. The waitress said she just pushed the buttons and didn't know how that happened. The "manager" intervened and attempted to say we modified the omlet order. Nonsense. Who knows how many others are being ripped off and unaware of how they "push buttons" to prepare the bill? I only went there because family members who live in the area go here often. Annoying waitresses, less than impolite manager on duty. Buyer beware! More of a greasy spoon that I will never patronize again! "A" Rating? Seems most unlikely....... read more

Very good food I order from here all of the time. Peter, Sam, and Jimmy are great when it comes to the deliveries, and also it's very fast and sufficient service when dinning in. I love their ham burgers, chicken soup, chicken terykeri, Cesar salad, also their chicken cutlets are good as well. Love this place and you will too. Came for breakfast. Don't usually come here because of the limited parking but wanted to try it. Read reviews and saw a lot if comments about the servers that were negative. Ours was fine, once she showed up but when we walked in the door and two more times there was a server cursing about the manager. Very unprofessional. Plenty of refills on the coffee and the home fries were cooked as ordered. The atmosphere is quieter then some of the other diners in the island. Will definitely return. 2nd review. I will put it bluntly. I won't be back. None of our breakfast order of egg whites, burnt home fries, white toast butter, bacon egg and cheese on a roll with bacon well and egg medium well was prepared correctly. We had a hard time explaining egg white over. The eggs in the roll were over easy, the bacon was not well done, the buttered white toast was unbuttered and burnt to black. We were never offered refills in the coffee despite the server wAlking past our table to refill the cups at the booth behind ours. Then as we are paying the server we had was near the register and I had to go past her to use the ladies room. Unknown to me her foot was sticking out and I tripped and went flying coming within an inch of hitting a wall with my head. After this I mentioned the issues about the food to the manager and all he did was berate the server. He didn't even bother to offer to comp us for the lousy meal. read more

Guy at the door no hello sat me and a 2 year old in the middle of a women's auxiliary group having a little chow and meeting when the whole restaurant was empty (stupid) make me feel uncomfortable and annoy them good job we both won't be back. The kicker was 12 bucks for a BLT club and the give you no frills mayo in a packet.. get Hellmann's cheapo. Waitress was very nice. The no frills mayo has me sticking with Annandale Diner or Andrews. I ordered through grub hub & got a honey mustard chicken sandwich and a lemon meringue pie slice. I was called minutes later to be told there was no lemon meringue and instead I got cheesecake ( I was fine with that, the lady seemed nice and told me what they had on hand etc.) For my order I got a HONEY MUSTARD chicken sandwich, and asked for extra honey mustard on the side. When I got my sandwich it was a soggy mess of bread and chicken with thick Swiss cheese melted all together, the chicken was grilled and pretty well done and burnt, there was absolutely NO honey mustard on it at all.. which is what the sandwich is literally called.. " Honey mustard chicken sand which" and instead tasted like over cooked chicken and soggy Swiss cheese. The fries are good but soggy as well.. The cheesecake is pretty good. My overall experience is that I probably won't order from here again read more

Ordered two souvlaki platters and a eggplant wrap. (54.00)There were more fries than meat both of which were dry lettuce was brown on the edges and the eggplant was tough you couldn't eat it they raised their prices and made their portions smaller and there quality of meat is awful. Will never order from them again. They offered to bring another eggplant wrap ??? Why. Would they think I'd want another tough eggplant wrap. This place offers terrible service. The delivery person is very rude and must really hate his job. I would not recommend ordering from this horrid place. This diner is the worst I ever seen. On Christmas we went there me, my husband and two kids .We wait 1 hour 10 min. The drink we get serve after 50 min waiting time. The waitress was so rude and she brings the food for us and for my daughter 8 years old she said we must to wait another 25 min. How can we eat and my daughter not. The manager was very rude. The meals was very cold and the stake was terrible and not cooked it was cold. I suggest no one to go there. I'm surprised the Health Department didn't shut it down. read more

I now live in NJ but always loved Mikes Place and its a treat when my wife is on SI to get some take out. I have to say it seems things have declined. I like to get the Spinach salad with Chicken but as soon as I opened the container I could tell there was a lot less "salad"...maybe one piece of dried up chicken sliced up..one over-cooked hard boiled egg wit green yokes cut in half...wilted mushy unedible spinach..tomato cores (I kid you not)..one sad old piece of mushroom. WTF happened?! The only good thing was the white sauce (thank god) but unfortunately that isn't enough for a return visit. Oh did I mention the price was crazy...for Christ Sakes its a salad...take fresh ingredients and put them in a damn bowl..not that hard I guess unless you don't have fresh ingredients or less than stellar chefs in back... read more
