My daughter is moving to the area and we walked around to see what the neightborhood was like. We saw Milano Pizza and decided we would stop for lunch. Not knowing anything about the pizza, we both decided to take advantage of the 2 slices with a can of soda for $7.99...yes that's right $7.99!!! When our slices were brought to the table, each slice was actually the size of 2 slices! The pizza is beyond delicious and the slices so large that we each only finished one slice each. Great food at a great price with leftovers! Also, to get a sense of what the place is like, while we were there, someone came in and spoke to the man at the counter. They were there to pay for food that was given to them yesterday with the promise to pay today. There are definitely not many business that are this kind/accommodating! Came here for some late night eats our first night in Boston that was walkable to get to. Food was pretty decent, seems like they have a lot of good daily deals. This place is disappointingly mediocre. I don't come here too often, but if I do, it's usually late at night and after having a few drinks when going out and want something to eat late at night. I usually go for subs, but typically I've been a person that really enjoys chicken subs. A few months ago, and I had their chicken Caesar wrap, the chicken wasn't fully juicy there was a piece of cartiledge when eating it. Gross, and unedible. I've then decided the next time I went, which was a month later to try their buffalo chicken wrap, well tasty, I also found a piece of cartilage with the chicken. From this point on, I decided that their chicken comes from a subpar provider that has a lot of cartilage in the mix and that I really shouldn't eat anything chicken again unless it's wings. Tonight I decide to go with a beef Shawarma. Who can mess that up? Wow overall decent, I found the meat to be a bit dry quite flavorless. Now guess what, after getting to the end of having my Shawarma, I found a beef piece of cartilage. Either I am one of the most unlucky patrons to randomly visit this place, or cartilage comes with everything I order from now on as a "happy meal" prize. I pay for food, not food that has a random "fooled you part" of rubbery unsettling cartiledge I gnaw on, spit out, and discard. The staff however, are friendly, and they're very hard-working, and they're often working until 1 AM in the morning or 2 AM which is far far more than anyone else in the area. The place is also clean and presentable and they do a great job keeping on top of the physical aspects. But for crying out loud, whoever the owner is, change up your meat distributor, get your proteins, juicy and flavorful, and make real quality food even if it cost 2 to 3 dollars extra. Until then, it looks like I'll settle on average, partially stale dried up pizza slices that linger until the night if I'm truly hungry. This place can offer so much and be such a great Goldmine if only they will improve the quality of their food to a higher level. Whole Foods and Babushka marketplaces are nearby, as well as a local convenience store that's overpriced. Locals are used to the high prices, we just want quality. read more

I've been having a hankering for pizza recently these last couple of weeks, and was told by several others that this is a nice hidden gem to try out. The location is right on the Brookline/Brighton town line, and right between the Boston College and Boston university campuses. Parking is nonexistent if you plan to come and eat here, however, there is a Whole Foods parking lot just on the other side of the street. Now I'm not recommending you park there, as there are signs that say parking is for WholeFoods customers only, but if you are trying to just run in and grab your pizza.....(Again not condoning anything with regards to illegal parking) If you come before 5 PM, there are a lot of specials you can buy, such as two large cheese pizzas and a 2 liter Coke for $25, a pasta, pizza, soda, combination, and quite a few other options . I came past five, so I didn't get the special, which was fine, because I was actually interested specifically for two specialty pizzas. This is a family owned and operated establishment. The young lady who took my order, was very kind, and going over some of their specialties, and being that this was my first time here, she was very helpful in giving suggestions of what is popular here. lol I ordered the beef taco pizza and the Al Pacino. Being that I I had walked in, and did not order ahead by phone, I had to wait 20 minutes, which was fine. The Pizza was good, and the dough was a nice and even, with a crunchy bottom. I did wish that there was a little more topping on both pizzas, as there just seemed to be a lot of bare spots and really seemed lightly topped. If I do come back, I would be coming before 5pm to take advantage of the specials. read more

This used to be my favorite place.... it's a no frills pizza place and they do it well. In my honest opinion is the best around; fast Eddie's is now closed it seems and for good reason, and unless go up to Harvard ave to ottos you'll be pressed to find a good spot on comm, ny fried chicken & pizza isn't as good as it sounds I promise. Woman's for the 3 stars when it would seem they deserve 5: literally everytime I go in one of the older woman overcharges me! From Buffalo chicken to Caesar wrap to my mushroom calzone! The funny thing is the menu is right there in front in paper and in back sign above them! It's insane. I've ordered here several times now (trying to give them a second chance) and it's always terrible. Never ordering here again. Last time I ordered here I called for takeout for a chicken Alfredo pasta- easy order. They said no problem it'll be 15 minutes. I was 30 minutes away so they had plenty of time to prepare my order. When I got there and went to pick up- the girls were confused and go, what was your order? Then I watched them put my order in the computer and begin to make it after 30+ minutes past my "confirmed" phone order. I sit down waiting for my food and I notice the girls are COOKING IN FREAKING FLIP FLOPS. I've been in restaurants for 10+ years and rule 101 in the kitchen is no flip flops. Major health code violation and I almost walked right out then and there (but I already paid at that point). It's fucking disgusting, I get your a casual take out spot but Christ almighty get your employees up to code. Needless to say the food was garbage, just like the bare feet in the kitchen. The pizza was just meh. A large was not enough for three people, and that was a damper on our day. The service was quite horrendous. The delivery driver badgered and demanded for a tip, and I was quite taken back. I explained to him I tipped online when I ordered, and if it didn't show, I could call the restaurant to make sure they added a tip. I've worked in the food industry, and I'm quite a generous tipper. I have lived within delivery distance of Milano for about 4 years now, and it remains my go-to for pizza/subs in the area. It is a small little shop, but the service is always friendly and fast. The pizza is pretty good, but they really do great with the pastas. Everything tastes fresh (rare for a takeout place) and has plenty of the sauce/chicken/veggies/etc. that is promised. None of that dry pasta bull. My food always arrives not just warm, but hot, so they're definitely doing something right. The subs and wraps are my current favorite. They let you customize them with pretty much all the essentials. My go-to is a pastrami sub with lettuce, tomato, banana pepper, onion, pickles, and their "boom boom sauce", which is a mild chipotle sauce. Bread is always fresh and everything tastes really good. Serving size for the small is still plenty for two people to split (or to be my lunch and later my dinner!) read more

Absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had in my many years of eating pizza. I had a coupon through a Google promo so thought I'd try someplace new. Big Mistake. Ordered a large mozzarella, tomato, basil sans drink because a small with a 2 litre soda doesn't meet their $15 limit - ridiculous! So after after all was said and done including the coupon still cost close to 20$ so really didn't save me anything. What I received though was the kicker...it was basically a disgusting cheese pizza with something that resembled mozzarella, a few chunks of tomato scattered around and a little chopped basil thrown in for color. So disappointing. 7-11 serves better cheese pizza than this. When I called the app I used and they were really nice about it. They contacted the restaurant but were told by them that they wouldn't do anything about it. Definitely not good customer service and now I'm even less impressed. Depending on what your order is. The food is ok i guess.. my problem is the woman who takes the order over the phone for delivery never seems to listen to you or understand English.. Before explaining my complete disappintment with the pizza I received, I'd like anyone who orders from this place to know that if you get the wrong item, they will not try and offer you a replacement or refund, Neither when you ask for one! Now about the 2 pizzas that I've ordered from this place, the delivery took longer than expected and also my pizza was cold. Very. Cold. Beware that most of the toppings on their pizzas are first fried it bread crumbs! And they don't even tell you that! Not on their menu and neither when you order. So let's say if you order buffalo chicken pizza, it is FRIED IN BREAD!! Which just tastes nothing like chicken! Also, I got eggplant pizza, which to my surprise and unlike any other pizza from anywhere else, the eggplant topping was also breaded! If I wanted "eggplant parmigeana, I wouldn't have ordered it on a pizza, I would have just got a roll! Also, I don't know what they fry these toppings in, but I swear besides being spicy, the buffalo chicken topping tasted exactly like the fried breaded eggplant(or whatever that was!). read more

It is open late. There, that's the most positive thing I could think of. The pizza's are dripping with fat and lack proper taste. I've tried cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza, but couldn't really distinguish the two in terms of how it tasted. Also, the Ceasar Salad I once ordered came without chicken, or egg, or parmesan or the proper dressing. It was just lettuce with weird-tasting pieces of baked bread and garlic sauce.
