I used to love the milk bar pie slice (formerly known as crack pie). And I don't know if it's because I'm older now and my taste buds are less interested in super sweet things but it just didn't hit this time. The crust was too soft and moist and it just tasted off. I may not actually drink milk but I am obsessed with Milk Bar. What's cute about this spot is that it is a to-go window, so it's perfect if you want to enjoy one of the many delicious treat Christina has gifted the world. (If I refer to her solely by first name that means we're friends right?!) I've been quietly stalking Milk and Christina from afar being a huge fan of her on Masterchef Kids, her featured episode on Netflix and her journey as a chef. I purposefully built my trip around visiting a Milk location so when I pulled up my maps to find one within ten minutes walking distance. I basically ran like a kid trying to see Santa Clause. Although I wanted to order the whole menu I only ordered about half of it. The cereal milk ice cream with cereal crunch gave me so much life that I don't think I had a chance to catch my breathe because I inhaled it. It was so damn good. I want a cone in my hand right now but I can't because I'm back home in New Orleans. The desserts are sweet but I have a sweet tooth that basically runs my life and ruins my diet so I was in love with all of the desserts here. I also had a slice of the classic birthday cake and that crumble and elevation of textures within each bite was divine. A slice ran a little under $10 and although you can easily share a slice-- DON'T., Eat a whole slice by yourself. Be selfish. Treat Yourself. While you're eating all of these desserts that are zero calories (don't fact check this, just go along with it) you might as well also order a slice of crack pie. I actually saved it and ate it the following day and it was so good. I probably ate it within four bites seriously. The winning moment for me was finding out they ship NATIONWIDE. I've been sleeping on this and thinking I had to wait till I was physically in New York City. After watching a Netflix documentary about Milk Bar, I had to come visit when I was in New York! I had high expectations since my friends had hyped this place up to me. I ordered the cereal milk soft serve and the crack pie (now named the milk bar pie). The cereal milk soft serve was pretty good, but didn't live up to the hype. It definitely has a unique flavor that I haven't tasted from other ice cream shops. I didn't think the soft serve was bad, but I wasn't wowed. On the other hand, the crack pie was AMAZING! Although it came cold, it was delicious! I couldn't stop eating it and wish I had bought more when I finished. The pie is pretty small, so I finished it in a few bites. Next time I go, I might get more than one. The pie is pretty sweet, so if you're not into super sweet desserts, this pie won't be for you. The service was fast and the cashier was helpful in explaining their menu to us. There's no seating here. It's the kind of place where you order at the window and take the food to-go.
