This was my first visit here with my family of 7 with a 12:15 pm lunch reservation. Two were newborns and one was only 2 years old. The place was packed when we arrived. We were seated at their large booth located in the rear of the restaurant near the kitchen and restrooms. I started with my bloody mary for $9. I enjoyed my sashimi ahi tuna salad for $14. The tuna tasted clean. It was sushi grade, but, more thinly cut. I wish it was thicker cuts of tuna strips as in sushi even if I had to pay a little more for thicker cuts of tuna strips. They charge an additional $2 to split either the sashimi ahi tuna or the Milkstop cheeseburger. A glass of matchbook cabinet wine was $10. My total bill was $114 less gratuities. Molly Graff served our table needs well. We agreed we will definitely return here again for lunch or brunch. read more

Holy sexual harassment in the form of being brushed up against purposefully multiple times!!! What in the actual F. It took me a while to write this review, I was here in November but remember exactly the hi top table I sat at and could pick out the harasser/pervert/waiter out of a lineup. He looked very comfortable and like he's worked there for years and I bet he doesn't get called out on this BS because when you're at lunch you're with polite company and you think maybe it's an accident (at least the first time) and so you don't say anything. I was with a colleague/friend, another woman, who also noticed he was a little touchy feely. I'm still grossed out every time I think of LaGrange, lunch places to eat. I would actually consider coming back because the food was pretty good and I'm not intimidated by assholes but honestly I wouldn't come without my husband (because I guarantee he wouldn't dare with a man around) and if I saw that waiter I would probably tell him off. Milkstop is a hit or miss for me. Their drinks never disappoint, but some things on the menu aren't worth it. I got the olive and swiss turkey burger recently, and I was expecting something more put together, but olives were flying all over my plate, as they were just thrown on under the bun. Filet mignon sliders didn't stand out either. However; the french onion soup and ABLTA are definitely worth the trip. Really cool vibe inside!!! We met some friends for dinner recently. Our friends live about a mile away, so they patronize the restaurant quite often. After eating there, I understand why! Our meal was fantastic. We started with a few of their signature cocktails. Mine was really good. Next week ordered the reuben latke for an appetizer. I wouldn't have thought to put that combo together. It was very good. Next both couples ordered some French Onion soup with steak. I'm not a big French Onion fan, but this was really good. I usually find it too salty. But theirs definitely was not. Milk Stop has some very interesting entrees but both couples ended up ordering their hamburger special for the day. The patty was made from four different type of meats. I thought the burger was good, but it was my least favorite part of the meal. The burger also came with sweet potato fries. They were outstanding. For dessert our friends shared a milkshake. My wife and I shared the white chocolate trifle. Everything else was excellent but the trifle was phenomenal! I understand why our friends eat here often. It was a bit of a drive for us. The food was fabulous! We went for dinner and ordered the wasabi deviled eggs, short rib stroganoff and the Gorgonzola gnocchi. Everything was delicious! Three different waiters came to our table. Each one took a different order and were confused when we said we already ordered. One even told us he would take great care of us and then when I said we already ordered drinks from someone else he literally turned and walked away without a word. I'm sure the sandwiches are great, the drinks are brilliant. Dinner however-totally Mid, overcooked risotto. Atmosphere and lighting felt very off, weird lighting. My husband and I have a 1 and 3 year old, so as you can imagine, we don't eat out often and whenever we do, it's chaotic. Summer is coming to an end, and it was a beautiful Friday night, and on a last minute whim we decided we really wanted to dine outside before the fall cold set in. We were able to make a last minute reservation no problem although there was a decent amount of customers through out the night. I give this place 5 stars for a reason, the food is very good, but the service is beyond. First of all, plenty and easy parking!always a must when hauling around the kids. We were seated in their cute little outdoor area in the side of the restaurant , with plenty of space around us to accommodate our stroller (thank goodness because my 1 year old is an escape artist when it comes to high chairs). Our waitress was super nice, and didn't give us any issue when our 3 year old ordered a salad with an entire bowl on the side of sliced up cucumbers. And lastly, we didn't feel like a burden to other diners not were rushed. We had a very relaxing , painless time and the kids very much enjoyed being able to watch some trains drive by which is a plus. read more

The service is friendly with delicious food at this restaurant - it definitely stands out compared to other places for eating out. This place has workers who care much about both dishes and surroundings. We had an unusual turkey burger together with olives and ahi tuna salad that just made my day when we visited; they did not just mix those things up anyhow; they were well done in each way possible, from preparation techniques down to being served with a great bun. I ordered also a crab cake egg roll, filled with genuine crab meat, located atop tasty slaw - this was an incredible dish. There are great options for breakfast and brunch in terms of dining such as avocado toast or even simply balanced pancakes at lower prices. read more

This is my first review ever. I felt that I had to share my experience. I ate brunch there with my wife in the afternoon. Great location, however I would not go back again. We were sat all the way in the back of the restaurant by a curtain even though the restaurant was not full. The table was small and the menus seemed larger than the table top. Other parties of two were sat by the window and at larger tables. Our waiter was not friendly at all. My wife asked about their non-alcoholic drinks and he replied with, "I'll give you more time", rather than answer the question. Our waiter never came back after taking our order. The coffee was burnt, and the food was not worth remembering. When our waiter did comeback it was to bring us the check. I offered to pay the check twice and was ignored by our waiter. A different waiter noticed and took our payment. Based on the customer service and the food, Dunkin' or IHOP would be better options than Milkstop for brunch. read more

We came on a recommendation from a friend and absolutely love the atmosphere. Cozy seating and a nice large bar. Luis was our server. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and made great menu suggestions. The food was delicious with lots of flavor. Loved the presentation. Ordered a mint julep for my drink and it took me back to Kentucky! We will definitely be back to try the burgers I hear are the best smash burgers. I highly recommend. read more

We really wanted to love Milkstop however I would sum it up as "good, not great". I had the burger (two thin patties) which was good but nothing special. My son had the mini burgers and we both thought it was odd that they came standard with an onion-ring on top but not cheese....also no side such as fries, fruit or a veggie. Lastly, we were there for dinner on a Friday night and it was really loud, we could barely have a conversation. They need to get some things on the walls or do something to absorb some of the sound. read more

Maybe I expected more because of the large amount of good reviews, but I was so disappointed by my experience at The Milkstop Cafe. Our Server was pleasant, but I don't feel like that was enough to make up for the meal. My wife ordered the Maison Benedict and I ordered the Croque Madame, adding a side of Fries. Although the menu seemed interesting, each dish missed its mark. My Croque Madame had good flavor, but it couldn't have been more than 90 degrees on the internal temperature, and my French Fries weren't much warmer, and certainly weren't worth the high price tag. The steak on the Maison Benedict was one of the worst pieces of meat I've tasted in a long time....no seasoning and had a gaseous flavor (I'm sure it was a MAP or modified atmosphere packaging product). I honestly felt that I had wasted my money on this meal and wished that I had gone elsewhere. read more

First: they are currently requiring proof of vaccination, to comply with the county health department mandate. We couldn't be happier. It feels much more comfortable eating in a place that doesn't pick and choose which health department rules they will follow. The food is great. Just the right mix of creative and comfortable. The drinks are fun. We went on a Friday for lunch and weren't rushed. We had a leisurely lunch with courteous service. The Milk Stop Cafe is a nice little gem in La Grange. We went there today to celebrate our aunt's 89th birthday. Service was excellent, the food scrumptious. My cousins and wife have been here several times. This was my first. I ordered breakfast croissants with eggs and bacon. The croissant was one of the best I have ever had. Flaky, soft, and delicious! The breakfast sandwich is a true winner. The only thing I would change is give a little less portion of the fruit. It was a bit too much to eat. Incredibly good and fresh, I just could not finish all of it. That is o.k., though, I just finished the last of it a little while ago! :) Reading other reviews and someone made a comment about the building being old. Yes, it is. You see our uncle used to own a pharmacy in this location in the 50's and 60's. A nice little touch of Milk Stop Cafe is the three frames on the back that hold the marble of the wall that was part of where the apothecary was! The touch really made our aunt proud. This is another excellent restaurant in La Grange. Though we moved from La Grange because of Illinois extremely high taxes with less and less services, we still come to visit our stomping grounds. Milk Stop Cafe is one of the top FIVE restaurants in La Grange. I would name the other four, but not here as the other four are friends of ours. If you have read my reviews in the past, you know who the other four are. This gem of a restaurant I highly recommended for great food and awesome hospitality. Fantastic job guys and gals. I was so excited to finally go here. I was sadly disappointed with the service and quality of food. The omelet was a ok but coffee and toast served cold. Hashbrowns cooked in such rancid oil they were uneatable. The server brought an alcohol drink which i had specifically ask to not have alcohol. He was gracias enough to be embarrassed. I might try again because so many people like this place. My wish is that they improve. read more

Went here for 2nd time with a friend who really likes it. She loves the lobster egg roll..or maybe its crab. It's 17.00 for the fish eggrolls. She tried the French onion soup and she said it was very good. It looked traditional. I ordered the breakfast egg/Bacon sandwich again. I skipped the cheese bit. It comes on a smallish croissant. No sides but oddly came with an order of toast. It was served with no jelly packets.? The eggs were too buttery and the croissant was overly soft. In hindsight i should have switched the eggs to the toasted bread. My meal was not satisfying and i got a stomach ache from too much butter in the food. The coffee on my last visit was decent but this time it was too strong. I can't say I'll be back because the menu doesnt have any choices i want to try and its a bit pricey for what the portion sizes i see served at other tables. It is a very small cafe/bar. It seems to be enjoyed by people from the area but when I went it was so packed. The service was fine, nothing remarkable. The food was not good. Maybe it was that I didn't enjoy what I got. I got an omelette and it was the only one that seemed good to me but it had goat cheese and I asked if I could switch it out for a different cheese and I was very disappointed when they said no. I wouldn't come back because I didn't love my time there. read more

Love this place for the food and great ambiance. Just picked up takeout though for my self and 3 others. They have everything packed in styrofoam which is not recyclable and never decomposes. Disappointing. Would love to see restaurants take initiative to use environmentally friendly packaging. If this costs a bit more, add a 25 or 50 cent charge. This is not a fast food joint where pricing is more critical. Besides, I do not like the idea of hot food causing chemicals to leach into my food. read more
