Came here straight from the airport for a quick brunch. The food and the service was very homey. My friend is a vegetarian and accidentally received her french toast with bacon. The staff was very nice and immediately gave us a new set of french toast and apologized for the inconvenience. The lady who brought us the fresh batch was extremely nice and said some very kind words. Service like that makes you want to come back to a restaurant and be a loyal customer. Millbrae Pancake House is one of my favorite breakfast places in the Bay Area and a lot of people from the area agree too (it's always so packed!). Parking: There's a private lot in the back and it gets filled up pretty quickly especially during breakfast/brunch hours. However, there's a ton of street parking available. Service: I came in with six other people and the waiting room was pretty crowded, but the wait went by quickly. We were seated within 15-20 minutes. The service here is pretty good; we were served our food really quickly and all at once (even though some of us ordered a little later). When we were following up about a waiter to order, it took a bit of time since it was so crowded. Food: I've gotten the buttermilk pancakes, the #2 (your choice of eggs, toast vs pancakes, hashbrowns), and the fish and chips. The pancakes, of course, are bomb! I really liked the Swedish pancakes and the lingonberry butter that they use. I really liked the #2 because it was a ton of food just over $10. I wasn't a big fan of the fish & chips, so I would say opt for the breakfast menu. A lot of my friends got the omelettes and really enjoyed those. Those also come with 2 pancakes. This place was recommended to me by some friends in San Francisco since it is on the way back down toward SoCal. During my time, I tried the corned beef hash which came with eggs and two pancakes, while my girlfriend tried their poached eggs. The food was alright. I don't think my plate was anything too special although I do love a plate of well-made corned beef hash; they could have been a little more crispy. The poached eggs were pretty good as well. They came with spinach and ham on an English muffin and a side of hash browns. The ham was pretty thick, and got a little messy but it was good nonetheless for my first time trying poached eggs. I read there was boysenberry syrup available, but I didn't find any on my table. Their bathrooms a bit cramped, and their sink is pretty tiny. When a friend of mine said the hotel we were staying at while visiting San Francisco was in Millbrae I was kind of wondering why. Then she mentioned that the Pancake House was across the street from the hotel. She was calling it the Swedish Pancake House which was a slight exaggeration. They did in fact serve a Swedish style crepe pancake with lingonberry butter, but this was no Swedish restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. Once we got there I quickly realized this wasn't as advertised by my friend. But I was hungry, the place was packed and smelled delicious. They have a little gift shop in the lobby where you pay and wait for your table with a PEZ theme. I'm a retired PEZ fanatic so to see all of the dispensers displayed prominently really got my PEZ senses tingling. I could come out of retirement and buy ALL THE PEZ here, right? No? Calm down Kirk, were here for Swedish pancakes, not PEZ. We get seated in a reasonable amount of time for how busy they were. But despite having large open booths in the rear of the seating area, they decided to seat four of us, Me a fairly heavy set dude and three curvy, full figured beautiful women into the smallest booth left in the main seating area. Just after us they seated a child and his young father in one of the mega booths across the room. I'll never understand the logic involved here. The waitress comes and we've compiled quite a sampling of the menu to order. We're now wondering if the small table they sat us at would accommodate the amount of breakfast we were about to have thrust upon us. They should have known, we're gonna fuckin' eat. Our host on this trip went straight for the Swedish pancake with lingonberry butter as expected. She got the Benedict, customized for a more vegetarian palate. I went for an egg breakfast with sausage links, toast and of course I had to try the waffles. My friend offered me a piece of chicken to experience that as well. Here's my deal with waffles. At some point in history it was decided that all waffles at restaurants and all retail sold waffle makers would be thick, bready, Belgian style waffles. A sub-par choice compared to the thinner more traditional flat, round and crispy waffle. It's like the thinner superior waffles ended up being the BetaMax of waffles and Belgian the inferior VHS. So when they brought out the waffles I was so excited. Real. Non-Belgian, waffles! They could have seated us on the floor with no silverware.... 5 stars for REAL WAFFLES!! Everything else was pretty good and the menu has a ton of options for breakfast and lunch. The Swedish pancake thing was kind of a let down but I didn't care.. REAL FUCKING WAFFLES! It's the perfect breakfast spot! Everything was great, from the omelette to the coffee to the Swedish pancakes! The Swedish pancakes are lighter than the regular ones, but still delicious. My early morning flight got cancelled so instead of fighting the traffic I decided to stop in for breakfast. Location is only about 5-10 from the airport. I was lucky that they opened so early at 6:30am. I was the first one there. With being the first one there you would think I would be greeted right away but I wasn't. I did have to wait a few minutes. Once I got to my table I was greeted right away and they took my order. The food came out fast! I ordered the veggie scramble and instead of toast I subbed hash browns. It also came with salsa, avocado, and fruit. Immediately when they brought this to me I was overwhelmed by the portion. The menu had it priced at $12 and I would have gladly paid half that for half the food since I did waste the other half. I can't imagine anyone would eat that much in one sitting. I would have taken it with me but I was out of town. Anyways I wasn't impressed with dish. The eggs were watery and some of the fruit pieces were old on the bottom. I did like the crispy hash browns. I guess that's what I get for trying to order healthy at a pancake house. I think next time I'll just stick to the pancakes and maybe I'll have a more positive experience. read more

Three of us went here and my food was just about the only good thing. Server: was distant, rude and talked back to us. When we ordered basically said nothing, did talk to us about options for our plates. I get that people have a bad day, I've worked as a server I get it. But this combined with everything else, this was just poor management. Bathrooms: Absolutely disgusting. I don't even want to get into it but was really really bad. Person 1: biscuits and gravy, the gravy was below room temp, I suspect it was because they nuked the entire plate instead of the gravy by itself so the outer parts were cold. Flavor was "out of can", not terrible though. Person 2: Asked for no XXXX item in their food, I believe even the server repeated it. We get our food, and there is item XXXX in the food, my friend even had my try it to confirm. We tell the already absent and disgruntled server there was this item is in the food and she takes it back to the cook area. Then comes back about 2 min later with almost a "gotcha" look on her face and says "I talked to the cook, they aren't in there" we both say "yes it is in there, I can taste it". Server simply talks back and says "no" and sets the food down. So we begin to pick out the onions and put them on a spoon and call the server over. She takes the food back and gets a new plate made. This place is doing a great job during this pandemic. Everyone wears masks and gloves, they have socially distanced tables, contactless menu, and a lot of tables from outdoor seating. What I loved is how their food quality is not compromised through this time. I love the little things like the fact that they actually saute vegetables for their omlettes, the in house butter, the yum bread for their toasts, etc. Only thing was the server could've been a little more attentive. There is an odd smell upon entering. Neither my daughter nor I had pancakes. I had two eggs, two sausage links and tried the two biscuits and sausage gravy. The OM eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage was ok. The coffee tastes like water. The biscuit appeared ok. Once I tasted the gravy, I felt as if that was the source of the odd smell upon arrival. The gravy was not good, it was bland and there were two tiny pieces of sausage included in the gravy on the entire large plate. I ate about four bites of the biscuit and gravy...it was terrible. I often have company and always take them here to enjoy a delicious specialty waffle -strawberry with whipped cream is the best and Swedish pancakes are a blast. Last year we even celebrate my youngest daughter birthday with her friends! The location is very accessible on our way to the or back from SFO airport when our family visits. It is a must for us. The hubby ordered a southern omelet ( which came with pancakes) and I ordered french toast that came with two pieces of bacon. 1.) The exact words of the hubby regarding his omelet- mediocre-Decent, but not worth it to get it again. 2.) French toast was flavorless. Soggy too. I guess once you become a french toast connoisseur, you palate is only suited for finer french toast in life now. The best part of our meal was the supplementary pancakes. They were so accommodating to take my huge piece of luggage and safely stow it behind the counter while I ate my meal. I ordered the Swedish pancakes, eggs and bacon. The Swedish pancakes were crepes served with a custardy fruit/butter spread. Interesting combination of textures and flavors. Eggs like most places were a bit runny, but bacon.... You can't really get that wrong! Within 5 minutes of ordering I had my food! I couldn't believe how fast it came out, and this place was packed!!
