Millburn Standard is my go to spot now. When I don't know what else to eat I just go here and I know I'm going to have a great meal. It can get pretty packed it's a very popular place in the neighborhood. The service is always great even though it's typically a packed house. My go to meal is the Caesar Salad w/ Salmon, awesome one of my favorite restaurants salads! I usually get something off off the specials menu as well I'm always excited for that, every couple of days something new pops up. But the Half Roasted Chicken is what I come for. The Chicken is so juicy, the skin is crispy and it's well seasoned. Oh yeah the Mashed Potatoes on the side are elite as well so light and creamy. Its dimly light and modern with an area with TV's for casual meetings with friends, and dining area catered for dinners and lunches. The set up is very interchangeable though. I had the chicken sandwich and it was phenomenal. Tons of flavor, the chicken was so crisp, and the tomato was perfectly juicy. The larger serving also left me very satisfied. The highlight of the meal though was dessert: the bread pudding. It was PHENOMENAL. My boyfriend and I went in yesterday night for a drink and some food, we sat at the bar and ordered our first round of drinks. The bartender carded us, because we are in our 20s. He took my boyfriend's no problem but when I handed him mine (just moved from out of state), and then asked for a credit card to verify it was a real ID, then asked for my Apple ID to still verify!!?? Making me very uncomfortable. I have worked in restaurants for years and never seen this before, I know bars usually have a ID booklet and can scan IDs but for this man to go out of his way to question my ID multiple times was wild, we have been here multiple times before and never have experienced something like this. I understand it's their job to check IDs but if you are that untrained to do that you shouldn't be behind the bar. Very rude, and from that point on I felt so uncomfortable just sitting there. Food and drinks were great though. But everyone just remember for this establishment I guess to always have another form of ID like your checking in for a flight. :) read more

Located in downtown Millburn is where you'll find Millburn Standard, and at a first glance, coming down the busy street, you might miss it! During my visit there, we ordered the Lychee drink, which was top-tier soooo good! The calamari app was rich in flavor and had a nice crisp texture. Visited Millburn Standard today and overall it was a nice place with a great ambiance. The weather was beautiful, so the restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated within about 5-10 minutes, which wasn't bad. Our drinks and appetizers came out in a reasonable time, but our main course took quite a while. We eventually had to speak to the manager to let him know we were still waiting. Shortly after that, the food came out, but mine wasn't very hot, which made it seem like it may have been sitting for a bit before being served. My partner ordered the Wagyu burger well done. After eating most of it, he realized it had bacon on it, which wasn't listed on the menu and is something he doesn't eat for religious reasons. It appeared the kitchen may have brought out the wrong burger. That said, I do want to highlight the manager's excellent customer service. He was very apologetic, removed the entire bill, and even gave my friend a gift certificate, which we appreciated and weren't expecting. Mistakes happen, especially when places are busy, but the way management handled the situation was professional. Because of that, we would be willing to come back and give it another try. read more

Stopped in for lunch a couple of weeks ago when my wife and I were visiting family for a lifecycle event. I have been to this restaurant several years before and had forgotten how comfortable it was, although upscale, and how great the food and menu was - - that appealed to all of us, children included. We came to The Millburn Standard genuinely excited for lunch--the menu looked inventive, and we were expecting an elevated dining experience. What we got instead was a frustrating exercise in patience and disappointment. It took over 15 minutes to receive two beers. When they finally arrived, one came in a visibly filthy glass. After flagging this, it took an additional 10 minutes just to get a clean one. A simple starter Caesar salad took over 30 minutes to arrive and was laughably small. The roasted corn guacamole sounded promising but tasted like something thrown together as an afterthought--bland and completely forgettable. The one saving grace? The burger, which was genuinely well-executed. But a single decent item doesn't justify the mess surrounding it. The lobster frites were subpar; the claw meat had a rubbery, undercooked texture that made it borderline inedible. We were told the kitchen was backed up--but somehow, a table seated after us managed to receive craft cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and steaming hot towels before we had barely touched a plate. We had to ask for hot towels ourselves, which felt like pulling teeth, and when they finally arrived, they were scalding to the point of unusable. Management did comp the salad and beers--but only after we pointed out the issues. Clean plates weren't provided without asking. Attention to detail was nowhere to be found. Food: 6/10 (thanks only to the burger). Service: 2/10--and that's generous. There's nothing "standard" about a place that treats customers like an afterthought. If you're looking for a long wait, dirty glassware, inconsistent service, and mediocre food at elevated prices, this might be your place. Otherwise, look else read more

Stopped in here for dinner after going to Paper Mill Playhouse. It's a quick 5 minute walk. The food and atmosphere was great. Our party of 6 fit comfortably in the booth and it was nice to be able to see and hear everyone. The drinks were made well, and the food was incredibly tasty. I had the French dip and opted for bok choy as a side instead of fries. The meat was cooked to a nice brown, the horseradish spread was delicious, the cheese was plentiful and nicely melted, and the roll was toasted well and held up crispy even after the au jus dip. The au jus was tasty and fresh not the least bit salty. The baby bok choy was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the creamy sweet chili light sauce over it was subtle and didn't compete at all. They don't take reservations, but if you give them a call ahead of time, they're more than happy to tell you if there are open tables or what the estimated wait time is. If you're looking to eat inside, you can be seated pretty quickly, as the place is huge. If you want to eat outside, that's a little trickier. I've had to wait longer than I would have liked to eat outside, but that's just because of the demand and limited seating. On a nice day, they open up the garage-style doors to let outside air in the entire establishment. The restaurant is trying to be a lot of things, and I think they're succeeding. They're an upscale sports bar as well as an elevated gastropub. They're also extremely family friendly and casual with their kids menu, high chairs, and noisy environment. My cocktail was strong, tasty, and artfully presented. My husband and I shared the hot honey chicken sandwich - I believe it was a special- and the tuna poke salad. We mentioned we'd be sharing, and the waitress told us the kitchen would split it up for us, which was a really nice touch. They really took the time and care to split our food and make it look aesthetic. The tuna in the tuna poke was fresh. The chicken in the sandwich was crispy. This is probably a new favorite for me. Beautiful restaurant inside. I would say a perfect place for anything really because we saw families with small kids in there as well but it has a very intimate and sexy vibe if you're looking for a date spot. The food was def a hit. Wasn't a big fan of the fries but everything else was amazing. Love me a good order of wings and I would totally go back for just the wings and not share. While they were small (or normal, steroid free looking wings haha!) they were delish. I also got the Cobb salad which I'm usually not a fan of but this was delicious! It came with a honey mustard dressing and tempura fried chicken. Just get it and share if you're not sure but promise you that you'll love it. Our server was super attentive and sweet. Even brought over hot hand towels to clean off after the wings. Love that! We finished off with their skillet cookie which was part of their specials so sorry if they don't have it anymore but when I say everything was amazing I am not kidding. Came here for some evening drinks with a friend day after Christmas. It got progressively busier here likely because not many places similar to Standard seemed to be open. Sat at the counter with a decent bartender crew doing pours. Started out with a couple glasses of red sangria before slowing it up with some beers. The bartender crew were young but engaging and kept the pours going without having to wave them down and despite it being busy which was nice. For bites I got a half rack of ribs which interestingly is listed on the "starters", which I'd think would be like appetizer but nope. Not too saucy but good with a decent char flavor. The slaw it came with was surprisingly good as I usually skip the slaw. Not this time though. I also had a Philly cheesesteak slider my friend let me try. Also, pretty good.
