Milburn Standard is one of the only places open late night in the area so my friends and I decided to stop in after a local show for drinks and bites. Note that they stop serving the full menu at 10 (I think, but I could be wrong!) but the bites are more than enough for a group to share. We got the chicken tenders and truffle fries which were crisp and delicious. I also got a winter mule off of the holdiay menu that was very refreshing but nothing to write home about. My friend's espresso martini was better and I'll probably get that next time. Service was great, our waitress was kind and attentive and the place was still busy even on a Thursday night. Having dined here many times has always been a good experience except for our recent. Lunch time was busy as usual, we ordered drinks, appetizers. 30 minutes go by, no appetizers yet tables who came in after us get their food before our table. We then spoke to the floor manager who apologized, went to check our orders, then gave us a new server. New server was very apologetic, made sure we got our appetizers, entrees as qordered. If you like overpriced bar food, this is your place. It's has a cool vibe and in warmer weather they have outside dining that expands into the closed off street. Drinks are well made and expensive compared to other local choices. Service is also very good. Our party had salads, stuffed potato skins, burgerand fish tacos . While everything was good, nothing stood out. One person in our party did order a medium burger and complained when it came out rare. The service at the Millburn Standard is the best we've had in the area and while the indoor seating is nice with a great ambience, their outdoor seating with heat lamps is unparalleled. This is our favorite place to sit outside at anytime of year and while we wish they took reservations, we either plan for a wait or come at off time. We never feel rushed in spite of the always crowd there. Service is very good, the mixed drinks are always really fun (and sometimes themed! like around Halloween). They have a robust kids menu, and the adult menu is full of vegetarian and vegan options. Their veggie burger is the best around. read more

Everything was super delicious, slicers needed a little more cheese, the wings were so saucy. For my entree I had the half roasted chicken, it was crispy and had the most amazing jus on top. I was craving good tacos so searched for places near and saw not only did they have tacos the tacos came with brussel sprouts so decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did everything was amazing. Let's start with service, my waiter name is Wes. He was very nice and attentive. He gave his personal recommendations and ensured I enjoyed my time there. I was looking for a restaurant before a show at Paper Mill. When I checked the menu, it seemed to to have so many items that are featured at Houston's in Riverside Square Mall. Sure enough the pictures of the food seem look similar to how the foods are plated at Houston's. We tried stuff that's not available at Houston's like the fish taco and the grilled corn on shrimp cakes so couldn't make direct taste comparison. The fish taco was pretty good. The corn cakes were bit heavy. I think if they were half the size, it would be better. The portions were quite large. We also started with burrata as an app which I thought was quite good. For direct comparison, we also ordered tomato soup because we love Houston's tomato soup, but it's not as good as Houston's. More cream and a drizzle of honey would improve it, but their version is not bad either. The atmosphere was kinda loud and the interior decor is also reminiscent of Houston's but more casual. The food quality isn't as high as Houston's but price is not as high, so that's good. Would definitely try again when I'm in the area. read more

I really like the ambience of this place. Cute for date night although I also saw several families with small children. I chose my steak thai salad based on Yelp reviews and I really enjoyed it. My dinner partner had the half rack of ribs, which from what I heard, were tender and delicious. I've gone here several times. I've had the fish tacos, black bean burger and fries. Their fries are good. The food is usually consistently good to me (only issue I have is the temp isn't as hot as I like it). That however is often remedied quickly. The bartenders and wait staff are often helpful and attentive. It's the spot to be in Millburn for a drink and food that's open to late. This was a spacious place with dim lighting and an extended bar with a number of televisions throughout the establishment. There was also outdoor seating with heat lamps present too. The menu had a lot of appealing options to choose from. The service was alright, a little slow at times, but nothing crazy. I went with the French dip ($23). It was made up of prime rib meat, sharp cheddar cheese with a side of horseradish cream and au jus. It also came with a side of fries, which were very good. The sandwich was great. The meat was extremely tender while the horseradish cream and au jus really brought everything together. The key, however, was the baguette. It was fresh and flaky, which made all the difference. The rosemary focaccia was amazing. The only thing is that the tomatoes that came with them dish made the bread a little soggy. Autumn Mule (5)- just the right amount of sweetness. Definite must try. Belgium Cherry (4.5) - my boyfriend's drink, he loved it. I actually tried it and I'm not much of a beer person but that was delicious. For our main we ordered: Ribeye medium rare (3.5) - my boyfriend's meal. It was cooked to perfection. It was served with the most delicious mashed potatoes and asparagus. The presentation was a little boring but again it was good. The meat could've used a little more seasoning. Shrimp with corn cakes (2.5) - so this was my dish. And while the shrimp was cooked to perfection and the flavor was amazing, I was not aware that the corn cakes would be so sweet. I'm the type that doesn't like to mix sweet and savory so I ate the shrimp. The staff and owner were so nice and asked if I would like something else, but I was fine. Kale coleslaw (3). - it was fresh and good. Not sweet which I could appreciate. Desert: Apple turnover a la mode (3.5) - this would've been a 5 star, but the puff pastry was a tad bit over cooked. Otherwise, it he apples were cooked to perfection and it was not overly sweet. I'm definitely going to go again and try different dishes. Was told it was a 35 minute wait when we arrived this afternoon at 5:15... we were seated an hour later at 6:15 but thank goodness at the most wonderful server's table. Xavier was so understanding of our two grandchildren and their hangry attitude. He couldn't have been kinder. Our granddaughter's filet came out very well done and she was refusing to eat it. Xavier very kindly removed it to get her a properly prepared filet. She saw it being taken away and then flipped out even more. Xavier kept coming back to tell her it will be out asap... his sweet and caring manner helped calm me down as I was getting very frazzled by her crying. I am grateful that we were seated at Xavier's station and wanted to make sure kudos were given to him. Came here on a Saturday afternoon Street is blocked off for dining/tables ... you have to find 2 hr street parking or park in one of the metered lots .... Outside dining tends to be for 4 or more ... inside is also very comfortable - modern masculine kinda feel. Lots of room at the bar ... good to watch sports on TV... front walls are garage doors - open to the outside for warmer weather I sat at the bar since I was solo. Bar ladies very attentive and nice Wanted to try the fortune GIN cocktail that I saw online but found out it was seasonal and no more I ended up trying the Peach for the Stars and the I love Lucy - both gin drinks - Peach is like a gin and tonic and strong but so pretty! Stopped at the Millburn Standard while visiting my sister. We went on a Friday night - wait at around 6pm was ~40 minutes. Not bad at all. It's a little loud inside, but not so loud that we couldn't have conversation. Once seated, our server came over just a few minutes later to take our order. We tried some of the specialty cocktails - highly recommend the Winter Mule. Entrees we ordered - shrimp and grits, mushroom Swiss burger, steak tacos. We all cleaned our plates. The general consensus is that the food was DELICIOUS. I've never had a better steak taco. The portion sizes are generous. Wish we had room for desert, but we'll have to return for that another time. No water service, unlike the patrons sitting next to me, so I ended up grabbing the bottled water in my bag. Inside looked very spacious. However, we were lucky that there was one more outdoor table with amazing weather. Our server was very patient and answered any questions we had. The salad was so delicious and the tempura chicken was flavorful. I loved the combo! A friend of mine and I came here to get some food and drinks. When we arrived we lucked out and found parking around the corner. The parking isn't great fyi. When we walked in we were greeted by the hostess and sat where we prefered at the bar area. Nicole was our server and she did a pretty good job. We started out with drinks and I got the Titos and tonic and he got a Corona. My drink was pretty good. For dinner I got the black bean burger and he got something off the Valentine's menu of filet mignon and lobster tail. When the food came out it looked pretty good. Good options for seating outdoors (heaters) and indoors. It seems like they start getting busy for dinner on the weekend around 6:30, so if you're trying to avoid crowds best to come earlier. Surprisingly, our kids were not fans of the Mac and Cheese off their kids menu. Mac and Cheese is their favorite food but they said the cheese didn't taste great on this version. They did however devour the french fries the dish came with. My husband got the veggie burger which he said was quite filling. Unfortunately, he didn't love the smoky flavor. I got the fish tacos (red snapper) and the portion was very big. There are 3 tacos that are very filled and a small side of brussel sprouts. I really liked the pineapple slaw, it was refreshing. However the red snapper was very bland. I was hoping for snapper that was cooked perfectly crispy, but these fell short. The loaded potatoes were a bit bland too, we omitted the bacon so maybe all the flavor was in that bacon. Service started out fine, our waitress was very nice. But when we asked one of our servers for 2 spoons he forgot and never came by with them. Our waitress eventually came by like 20 min later.
