Salade de Chèvre Chaud...the salad had spring mix, walnuts, pine nuts, buche de chèvre on toasted baguettes...the healthiest thing we ate . On the other end of the spectrum was the Jambon-Beurre, which was a generous slab of butter, ham, on a baguette...the anti-salad of the day! Also had a buckwheat Crepe, or Galette Bretonne. Everything was excellent, including a Monte Cristo sandwich which was my fav. The food speaks volumes...perfect! Service from the counter was good. The restaurant was clean and well organized. This place is fabulous and I'm only sorry to have found it our last day in Santa Fe. On the other hand, I may have gained too much had I been able to eat breakfast there every day. We were a group of five for brunch on a weekday. Dress is casual and there is both inside and open air covered seating. Everyone was delighted with their food. The orders included crepes, salads, quiche and sandwiches. One of our group treated us to macarons for dessert - also delicious! The cafe has some lovely breakfast and dessert pastries also. Orders are placed at the counter and the food and beverages are brought to your table. There is no table service, which actually made it easier for us, as we placed separate orders. One major plus is that there is ample parking behind the restaurant in a separate lot across the street. The only minus is that it is noisy. We would definitely go back. read more

On our way to Taos from Albuquerque we decided to stop in Santa Fe for lunch. When I looked at options, Mille stood out for having delicious looking French bistro food. There's a small parking lot out front but street parking nearby. You order up at the counter and are given a number for your table. Once you find a space to sit, someone will bring you your meal. Our first visit, I ordered a fig and chèvre crepe. The figs were on top and the crepe was filled chèvre. The crepe was drizzled with honey and pecans. My husband got the quiche Lorraine and salad. I had a bite and it was also really good. We liked this place so much that on the way back to Albuquerque we stopped here again! This time we went the sandwich route. I loved the jambon beurre sandwich, which is ham on a fresh baguette with a good amount of butter (like a French take on a ham and cheese sandwich). Master Baker Alert! Every time I am in SF I will stop here to pick up almond croissants ( and macarons, croissants, maybe a nutella eclair...) - The almond croissants, they are special: not too sweet, crispy, buttery, filled with a custard-like almond paste- that makes it sound like marzipan, mais non! Feels like it's a lot more butter, less processed...in any event , they are heaven, and they sell out, so get there early (sorry, people behind me, I can't come home with just one of them). Also not to be missed is the quiche. This is a fluffy, light, souffle-ish dish served as a generous portion with a delicate side salad and dijon dressing. It's the perfect meal on a sturdy crust, best with a white wine or coffee. Speaking of, even if you have water and wine, coffee is also a must here, black, because it's balanced well and requires no modifications. Their butter croissants are the best I've had, period. The only close contender to their croissants are our dear friends in Manhattan at Angelina Bakery. They use these to make the almond croissants- it should be illegal to make food that tastes this good. These croissants are made at high altitude, home of dryness, so really showcase the baking skills at Mille. re ambiance: cute and cosy booths inside- neat during winter, feels snug and welcoming. In the summer the outdoor picnic tables are friendly and encourage community. Dogs are welcome, like any good cafe, everyone knows you're not hanging out at a cafe without your puppy! The last time I was there I heard 5 different languages being spoken - so cool!! the staff is patient and friendly (challenging to make decisions when everything looks awesome) , and I always see familiar faces. A casual vibe; tasty, fresh food; and attentive service made Mille a nice place to gear up for a morning of exploring downtown Santa Fe. The pastries here looked fairly good - I could actually see the lamination on the croissants, and the tarts looked downright inviting. I went with the quiche florentine and was pleasantly surprised by the crisp crust, which set off the softness of the egg and the ricotta. I also wasn't expecting it to come with a side salad. Hospitality-wise, I did find it a bit weird to have the cashier tell me to take a menu and to come back once I was ready to order. I would've rather lingered by the front, where the menu is also hanging on the wall, and where I could have better appreciated the pastries (and who knows, I might then have bought one). read more

Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere! Mille is hands down on of the best places to eat in SF and the best French restaurant in NM. The employees are friendly and kind always going above and beyond. The food: Mille has some of my favorite crepes ever! The salmon crepe is my personal favorite but spinach artichoke (with green Chile for a NM twist) is a close second. I can't stop by without an espresso and a chocolate or almond croissant. Not to mention the almond pear cake is a yummy (and gf) personal favorite dessert of mine! I love that I can stop by for a weekend brunch and have a bottle of wine or mimosa as well! The place: Small and intimate inside, with a larger (warm) back patio area. Great place to get work done, have a work lunch, or come with family. Incredible croissants, good bread, good pastries (tarts, etc.), and reasonably good French sandwiches. A little off the beaten path, the front of the restaurant has limited parking -- but there is more across the street (which we didn't notice until we were leaving). Think of this as both a bakery and a restaurant. Many folks were eating at the restaurant, but we were there for the bakery. The service was prompt and efficient (though there was a wait for folks wanting to sit for brunch). The regular croissants were really good (plain croissant, pain au chocolat). The savory croissants sounded promising, but in the end were disappointing. The baguette was good (perhaps the wrong name for this thinner version of a French bread?). We had a lemon tart with blueberries - scrumptious! We also got some of the small jams they have for the croissant (so many varieties, in portions just right for a couple of croissants). It is clear that the brunch options are good (quiche, croque monsieur, french toast, salads, duck, cassoulet, etc.), but we decided to get a couple of sandwiches "to-go" and have a picnic. Cute, Cozy, warm and inviting establishment! Mille, being close to my hotel, was selected for breakfast. The staff is kind and genuine, they will ask if its your first time and gladly answer any questions. We opted for a Monte Cristo sandwich (also avaiable as a crepe), Quiche Lorraine, and coffee. Regular drip coffee is available and decaf as an Americano. They also offer other espresso based drinks. The Monte Cristo sandwhich was exceptional! It contained ham, turkey, swiss cheese, brie and topped with powdered sugar and a raspberry jam! The quiche was well-cooked and had great flavor. Both dishes came with a small side salad, it was basic. The coffee was good and refills were offered by the friendly staff. Mille also offers a variety of pastries such as croissants, coffee cakes, and macaroons. We loved this breakfast place so much, we had it two days in a row! read more

Been here so many times because i always try to give them another chance but have never left happy. Here's what i think on their food items: Croissant; the only reason i would come back to mille, it's just okay. Galette; just horrible, inedible. Its not a galette, its a salty crepe. Wish i would have taken a picture but it was so grey looking and so sad ! Also the egg its supposed to be fried inside and cover the whole galette, not just placed on top. Crepes: they're good i guess, but who cant make a good crepe? Coffee; good Desserts; so disappointing. I'm pretty sure they're stored there for days because i had a tiramisu, a very simple desert to make, and it tasted old. and they definitely do not make it with mascarpone. I also had a pear/ almond dessert and the only almond it had was almond extract instead of like almond flour or real almonds so even though they didnt lie, it's a complete different taste from what i was expecting. Quiche: good i guess Pain perdu: i guess they make an americanized version of it? But getting it that way from a "french" restaurant seemed weird to me. It's like one you would get at like ihop, definitely not a real pain perdu . Service just okay, no one ever comes and asks how was everything. Not my first option when looking for a brunch/ breakfast place. Just an option that is very close to home and given all the good reviews i keep giving it a chance. Also, this is coming from someone who lives in Paris and visits their parents in Santa fe once or twice a year. Almost definitely some of their other items as well, but as someone who's ordered for bakeries and chains, I know without a doubt on those. Was excited to try Mille for breakfast this week but left disappointed. First, the positive - lots of parking. Cozy atmosphere with several rooms and types of seating. Excellent French pastries. Welcoming and helpful staff. The negative- the quality of the food and coffee. The quiche crust was thin, dry and burnt, while the crepe was stodgy and heavy. The coffee drink was weak and diluted. This is a popular spot with first come first serve seating, cafe style, so expect a short wait and keep your eyes open for tables opening up. There's a nice patio in the back where you can bring your furbaby. Don't skip dessert, you'll want to try something from their bakery! We dropped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and had a tremendous meal and experience. We ordered a Monte Cristo, a ham and Gruyère crepe and a Cordon Blue sandwich. All were delightfully fresh, delicious and tasted very much like our visits to France. We also had a mocha, a really fresh herbal iced tea and a glass of white wine with no complaints despite the wide range of drinks (most places don't do all 3 things equally well) and our service was fast and friendly. The place was small with counter ordering and a selection of small booths and tables to pick from. We were lucky enough to get a booth and the ambiance was brisk but friendly... very much like a French cafe. We enjoyed the food so much we ordered a tarte and some macarons to finish the meal. The peach and almond tarte wasn't especially good but the macarons were incredible. Chewy and sweet with great depth of flavor. All in all, a great choice for a weekend brunch. read more

Mille is one of the few restaurants (if not only) in the US where I felt like I was eating authentic French food that matched the quality and taste of eating in France. My party tried food off the brunch menu, a savory crepe, croissants, and pastries. Everything was absolutely delicious, and very reasonably priced for the quality. The croque Madame was the best I've ever had, and the croissants are truly on par with Europe. I haven't tried anything off the lunch menu. Mille is counter service, so it's a bit more on the casual side in that respect. If you're looking for a fancy full service sit-down restaurant, you'd probably be best off going elsewhere. But if you want amazing French food at reasonable prices, Mille is phenomenal. read more

Went to Mille while visiting family in Los Alamos, packed up and made the drive to Santa Fe. Walked into Mille and was greater by a friendly but busy employee. First thing I noticed was the impressive dessert counter, loaded with pastries and cookies. Looked over the menu full of crepes and other brunch type foods. I decided on the Quiche Lorain which comes with a small side salad. I also ordered a quad latte over ice which was served as a hot latte. The rest of the group ordered a variety of other offering ranging from crepes to salads. After waiting in a line that reached the Mack of the building we places our order and my wife picked their pastry counter bare. The food arrived surprisingly quickly and tasted really good.
