I brought in my car to diagnose a problem I was having with my battery draining over the course of the night. This place is really good. They're very honest and upfront with their fees. I got an inspection for a car that i was thinking of buying. That was the best money i ever spent. They alerted me to problems with the car that would've cost me tons. I know there are places that do so called "free" inspections but they aren't as thorough and would have never caught the problems. Miller Automotive is not an honest shop in my opinion (contrary to Jim. M's review). My most recent dealing was in regards to the check engine light being on. We took the car in to MA to have the source fo the light being on checked out. They came back with a rediculous estimate to fix the problem. We decided to take the car for a second diagnostic and estimate. MA was not happy we were doing this and when we recently took the car in for the second estimate, the technician immediately noticed that the compressor was never refastened and A/C hoses were never reattached. Basically, when we told MA were taking the car for a second opinion, they just threw it back together. Those parts moving around could have caused major damage. Besides the rediculously high estimate they gave us (the second shop gave us an estimate that was considerably lower), they told us we needed new tires (our tires were replaced within the year prior to the above vist). Finally, I had my car in there a few months prior to the incident above for brake repair. The reason I tried MA to begin with was I was told they give 5% of the cost back to your school if you complete the necessary paperwork. I also liked that it was a woman owned shop with a history in the city. I had a $1000+ brake job completed (cost high because I was told brakes and routers had to be changed together...now wondering if that was an accurate statement) and filled out the paperwork to have funds donated to a school. When I went back in, they had no record of my donation request. Overall a very dissapointing experience. However, in the end, I found a new, great shop that I trust and will use in the futuer and their 5 star rating will be the next one I complete. read more

I have been to Miller's Automotive a number of times. The service is always friendly, the work is top quality and the prices are within reason. I took my car there yesterday for axle work at 8:00 AM. They said the work would be done by noon. They called me at 11:00 AM to tell me it was done, about an hour early. While I was there I asked if they had a battery to sell me for my Honda car key. They said we don't sell them, we give them free. It took a while to get the battery out of the key because the screw was stuck. Eventually they got the battery out but did not have my battery since it was less popular than others. They went to a local store and purchased a battery and installed it at no charge and with a smile. When was the last time anybody gave you something free? I recommend this place, friendly and honest service, excellent work and they gave me a free battery installed. read more

I will always take my Toyota Corolla to miller's automotive. I used to think you can only take your car to a dealer ship for maintenance while under warranty. Dealer ships are way more expensive. I came in to replace a hose for the air conditioner. They said I needed a starter and other things. I was told they were reasonable and honest. I just had my car inspected from another shop. The other shop just took too long. The mechanic on the phone kept insisting I needed this work. I called the other shop.. They said no I didn't need that. They (Miller's) then charged $150 for inspection, I just needed a hose. Very dishonest Shop. Going back to the other shop. I'd rather wait then be ripped off again read more

Once again Millers has provided me with great service. I have an older car, so problems arise from time to time. I have taken my car there for everything and never had to come back for the same problem. This time it was the starter. They had an estimate and diagnosis quickly and finished in the same day as promised, final cost less than the estimate. I have always been a "take it to the dealer" person while my husband likes to patronize a local mechanic. I agreed to go to a local mechanic and went to Miller's automotive. Several of my colleagues at work take their brand new and older cars to Miller's. All of them had raving reviews... and I have to agree. They provided great service at a great price. The cost of my oil change, lube and filters was way below the dealer and competitive with large chain oil change places. What really sold me was the diagnostic on my car (2002 Chrysler that is new to us) and the replacement of the purge control solenoid valve. This was much cheaper than I ever imagined. I will NEVER go back to the dealer. Miller's will service both of our cars from now on. I have even passed out their business card to my family members. read more

I live in Aliso Viejo and work in Irvine, so bringing my car all the way to Fullerton is not particularly convenient. However, I've been doing it for years and will continue to do so. Why? Because I know that my car will be fixed right, and I won't be charged for things I don't need. Between the car that I have now and the one I had previously, I've had break pads replaced, tires replaced, the alignment adjusted, fuel sensors (or some kind of sensors) replaced, regularly scheduled maintenance, a suspension repair after an unfortunate incident with a median, and probably other things that I'm not remembering at the moment. I took my Scion xB in yesterday for an oil change and safety check. Just bought it and wanted to be sure everything was AOK. It was about 95 degrees and I wanted to go get a cool drink while I waited so Wendy offered me use of a loaner vehicle. And I though only Crevier Mini offered loaners! Miller's Auto can surely compete with Crevier! Wendy called me a short time later, told me my car was done. She reviewed the condition of my car with me and told me that I should service the transmission next time in. I used a coupon that gave me a super deal on this service. My car is burning oil, I have to add a quart every couple of thousand miles. I have a CarMax warranty with 3000 miles still left on it. I had good service from Millers in the past but now they no longer have the service I was expecting. I brought in my car for the oil burning issue and they said they would take a look at it and let me know. They called me back a couple of hours later to let me know that they suspect this is an issue common to many Hondas and my Acura. But to fix it they would have to do an oil consumption test. The oil consumption test requires that the drain the oil and put in a measured amount and then drive the car for 3000 miles and then drain the oil and measure the results. The catch was that they would need to have a mechanic drive the 3000 miles, I could not get the car back to drive the 3000 miles. They said that Toyota and other makers just seal the oil intake and give you the car back. I verified this several times with Eric at Millers automotive and he confirmed that Cerritos Acura said that is what they would have to do. Millers automotive started a claim with CarMax warranty and told Millers that they would have to follow Acuras standard for an oil consumption test. So they let me have the car back and did not charge me for the diagnostics they did perform which is nice, but my car is still broken and Millers won't fix it for me. I decided to make some phone calls and do some google searches and to my surprise the information provided to me by Eric was not accurate. I called CarMax MaxCare warranty and they said they had a record of Millers starting the claim. But they did not tell Eric that they had to follow Acura's procedure, there is no recall for this issue like Eric said, only a TSB. TSB are not public documents so warranty companies cannot require a third party to follow them in order to get coverage. While a google search indicates that all of these TBS's do leak out despite not being public information. But that does not change the fact that it is not required to follow them in order for the repair to be covered. CarMax warranty told me they just expected Millers automotive to do a normal oil consumption test, seal the oil intake and let me have the car for a thousand miles or so. My next call was to Cerritos Acura and I talked to a service advisor who told me that they have never required a customer to have a mechanic drive a car for 3000 miles to do an oil consumption test. So i don't know who to believe anymore. Eric said that Acura would deny my claim because burning a quart every 2000 miles is acceptable, a claim the Acura Service advisor denies. I decided to google the answer and while it appears true that many auto manufacturer claim this, consumer advocates and the EPA say this is not true, it is never acceptable to burn any amount of oil nowadays. My cars from the 70's and 80's burned a little oil, but no car I have owned since 1992 has ever burned a drop. I don't think it is reasonable to expect to always be checking my oil level on a modern car. I just wish I could take my car to an honest mechanic and they just simply fix my car and not make me go through a million hoops in hope I will simply give up and not get my car fixed. I only get one or two opportunities a year to be without my car for a week or so and now I know my warranty will expire before I get another chance. Which I am sure was the intent of all of the finger pointing. read more

I recently had my 2009 Honda Civic Professionally Dino Tuned and the "Professional" did not properly connect my clutch wiring which was causing my battery to be drained almost every morning. After 3 drained batteries and 5 new relys, I dropped my car off to Miller Automotive and Rich called me after a few hours and explained it was bad connection from the clutch. We have five vehicles. Our first month with Wendy, we spent approximately $2,000 on two cars. The second car had an electrical issue that required resetting all electric components in the vehicle after the repair. We had an issue of the vehicle locking the doors with the keys in ignition and motor running after the repair. A door handle was damaged during the process of opening the vehicle. Millers decline all responsibility. Our new automotive repair fixed the handle in less that 15 minutes at no cost to us. I found Miller's on this website and decided to give them a go. Needless to say I've been very happy with the service. Eric, the shop manager is upfront and honest about repairs and costs(no baiting and switching). Additionally, they don't try to upsell you like the dealers, you tell them you need something they'll do just that. They'll make recommendations about what you should get done relatively soon, but won't cram it down your esophagus. Also, they're pretty fast, depending on what needs to be done of course. But most times I've had my truck back the same day I'd bring it in. There was only one time I had to leave it over the weekend because of a failed fuel pump(not a good weekend *lol*). Wendy, the owner is a gem, definitely doesn't fit the banshee description. Honest business men/women are few and very far in between. So are good mechanics. So if your having car trouble and dont know where to look, start here. read more

In November I purchased a used car from a dealership for my 16 year old. Now buying a used car can be a risky business especially when the car has 150,000 miles on it so I made sure that I got the dealer to write in to the contract that they would allow me to take the car to an independent mechanic for a thorough inspection and return the car if there were any issues. So of course I contacted Wendy Carter of Miller's Automotive. It was a tight timeframe to get the car inspected but Miller's did it in one day and produced a detailed report of some maintenance issues with the car. I took that report to the dealership and with some back and forth and additional help from Miller's the dealership fixed everything. I've been taking various vehicles to this shop for years after finding them well reviewed on Angie's List. They've always done good work at reasonable prices. When I inherited a Volkswagen Eurovan it was not in very good condition as it had sat for a while. We requested a full inspection to find the trouble and they did that and had it running quickly. Their office was very understanding about estate issues with payment and decisions about those services being handled by a D.C. attorney. Millers' paperwork was perfect and everything went smoothly. Since then I've discovered that the Volkswagen dealership the van was purchased new from knows nothing about this model -Millers is closed weekends and I was hoping to be able to use the dealer for a Saturday repair but no..... Eurovans are apparently rather difficult in general and there are only three places I've found that can work on it - the original owner was once marooned at Jiffy Lube 6 hours after which the oil remained unchanged and all involved admitted defeat. The other two places are specialists 3-4 hours drive away, so I am happy that Millers is right here in Fullerton. Millers is always able to deal with the parts issue with the van and communicates the situation and options thoroughly and honestly. Eric in the office is always very friendly and knowledgable, and if anything requires the input of either the owner or the mechanics they are also very helpful and friendly. First "great experience" I've had with a mechanic in a very very long time. I took my car in twice over the last few weeks for two separate issues. The owner was always present and very polite. Eric, the service manager, was extremely competent and honest. He gave me an idea of what he thought the problem was and was right on the money once he got under the hood and had it diagnosed. Pricing was very fair and the entire transaction was up front and honest. These guys did exactly what they said they were going to with no b.s. I always dread the second call from the mechanic where they state that once they got into it, there was additional work required. That was NOT the case with Millers. My vehicle was fixed right the first time and returned within a few hours. I highly recommend this shop to any one in need of professional mechanic services. I just happened to see this because I was looking for the Miller's site to see if they did alignments. I couldn't believe the poor reviews! We discovered Miller's this year and had them do some work, including our AC. We felt the price was more than fair, the work was done in a timely manner, and the service was excellent. We've had them do other repairs, and they have never suggested other problems. As a matter of fact, we went in for an oil leak, and he showed us that we had several areas leaking, one of which would be the most expensive, but he suggested that there was no hurry on that one because it was very small. So we had the large leak done, which was very reasonable. We were impressed with the 2-year warrantee. You rarely see that at automotive centers. We had called our mechanic, who is also our longtime friend, and he said it was a great deal. We definitely plan on going back...we consider them our place to go and call them for everything. Unfortunately, they don't do everything...if they did, we would have them do it. As for the charge to inspect being applied to the cost of the work, that is very common. There is a lot of fraud in the auto industry, so we're glad we found Miller's. read more
