Went there for lunch today based on the bf deciding on a place to eat brunch at. He somehow decided to pick this place even though he never ate there before. We got in and sat at the counter. We both ordered omelettes which the menu (and the special) was written was a three egg omelette but we instead got a TWO egg omelette. I got the ham & cheese one and he got the meatball one. My biscuits and gravy were decent yet it was the gravy that saved the mega dry biscuits. Our hash browns were greasy and not cooked well done despite both of us asking for crispy. Service was okay at the beginning but she pretty much rather yap with her co-workers than to check up on her tables and us. Bf tipped her too well and thankfully she was very thankful so I'm glad she appreciated it. All in all we wouldn't be eating here again. read more

Blue hair paradise. I was wanting some good ol' American food yesterday so I thought what a better place to go to than Millie's American Kitchen. It's a typical American diner. The decor is vintage but you can tell they put some thought into it and they also keep the place very nice and clean on the inside. A couple great things about the place. They give you a lot of food and they give you free refills. I ordered the BLT with Turkey monster sandwich with cole slaw and for appetizer we ordered the potato wedges with bacon and sour cream with chopped green onions. The appetizer was very tasty and almost made me too full for my main course. The sandwich was very tasty. I couldn't finish it all! The cole slaw on the other had was terrible, seems like it was sitting in a large container for a day or so cause it was wilted and just didn't have any taste. I told the waitress and she apologized and brought me out a plate of fresh fruit. I that that was a great gesture. I was quite pleased with it. Now the only thing I regret is not having one of their pies. They have personal and large sized pies of different flavors and varieties. I think I'll just stop by sometime to get a pie to complete the experience. All in all this place is good. ....OHH and they service Adult beverages too! read more

We consistently come here to treat ourselves to a standard diner meal, even if we know it's not fantastic for us. My husband loves the sausage gravy and biscuits, and I usually get the whole grain pancakes, which are nutty and delicious. We sometimes get omelets there, and I'm always happy with them. Service is what you would expect from a diner. Not glowing, but not unfriendly. We always are made to feel very comfortable when we go, and enjoy the attentive treatment. I go there probably once a month and am a fan of the following. BBQ Salad...perfect Fried Chicken...tastes like honey fried Spaghetti & Meatballs...tastes great I've had some other items and they were not. Not 5 stars, no 2 or less. I was beyond happy with this place. Definitely a new dinner or lunch spot. I came last night for some 'breakfast for dinner' with my friend who was taking me along. He had eyed the restaurant many times and came on his own. He convinced me I had to go and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the steak and eggs with some pancakes on the side with a hot chocolate and my friend had a cheese omelette. I was sooo happy with the pancakes. They tasted great and were light fluffy and absorbent! My steak was cooked just right and my eggs were fluffy. I definitely enjoyed the house potatoes. They were sliced instead of shredded and spiced just right. I'm so happy to have come and I know I'll be a regular here. read more

Was in the area after paddling the LA river. Stumbled upon this spot when I was actually going to go to jack in the box. I'm glad we came here instead! The service is amazing. DISGUSTING!!!!!! I was served an omelette and the avocado was ancient history. The fruits and veggies were old, dark and mushie. The butter on my toast smelled weird. Super hungry after a 3-mile run and then a round of 9 holes of golf so I was ready to eat. We opted for Millie's on someone's suggestion and it was close. Ordered the eggs and corned beef hash with home potatoes and side of toast. Everything was delicious and I ate almost every bite. I would have probably eaten the plate if it wasn't porcelain because I was so hungry. Service was excellent. We got everything quickly and coffees were refilled fast. It's got a vibe like a Coco's or Carrow's but it's actually a bit more special and there are few locations. I love classic American diners! I support them so they stay around. The food is good but sometimes it's not hot. So now when I order I say I like my food really hot and then it is. Should I have to say that, no. You do what you Gotta do. The prices are VERY reasonable the portions are large. The eggs Benedict amazing. Their cheesecake comes right from New York City and it's amazing as well probably some of the best I've ever had. And the servers be friendlier, yes. My father wanted to invite me to dinner since I have been in Seattle, WA one weekend and then Vancouver, B.C., Canada, the next weekend. Better to have a good Father-Son meal at Millie's Restaurant. Millie's is located on the southeast corner of Balboa and Vanowen. Just next to the Jack in the Box. Millie's is an old fashioned restaurant. If you remember Carrow's Restaurant, this is one of the old timers still in existence. Unless, Denny's and/or Norm's puts them out of business. A lot of senior citizens come to the restaurant to, of course, use their discounts...lol. There is only one thing I get a Millie's, the Southwestern Chicken Salad. Here is a brief description of the Southwestern Chicken Salad: A hearty combination of Millie's hickory BBQ chicken, green chilies, bacon, red onions, avocado, Monterey jack & cheddar cheeses, roasted corn, tortilla strips, tomatoes and scallions piled high on romaine and iceberg lettuce, then tossed in our zesty Sonoran Lime Ranch dressing. I know by heart the price is $10.49. I love this salad. Unfortunately, I did not order this time...lol...Fooled ya. I got the All American Cobb Salad. I did not like it too much. It was a bit salty especially when the olives cover most of the plate. For $10.49, I would have asked for a refund. I think sticking with one good thing is a guaranteed safe item. I'm going to go back with the Southwester Chicken Salad. I ordered Cranberry juice, but I, now, found out that they charge for refills. Eeeeks...Really?! That sucks. While I was eating, my eye caught view of a one of a cute female employee behind the counter wrapping the utensils. I would have given two stars, but she saved Millie's and keeping its three star rating. I would have paid for my meal, but my father did. Dang it.....lol. Shaky. Came here for dinner last night. Ordered a Millie's salad that was sort of a taco salad but drenched in French dressing, and Fish-and-chips that was ordinary. Brought home a cheeseburger that teen pronounced "ordinary." No great shakes on prices either -- these three things took us to about thirty-five dollars. Best thing was the Arnold Plamer iced tea. I have been to Millies periodically for 12 years or so, and my opinion for them is this. I compare Millies to a good ole' fashion Booty Call (yeah, i just compared sex to a good meal) You know when you have that urge? You just want your stomach filled but can't decide what you want? You really dont care, as long as its gets you full....thats Millies!! They have a pretty extensive menu, the staff is nice, the prices are somewhat decent, and the food is good. Your not gonna leave the price amazed and your not gonna leave the place talking in the car saying "oh my god....that was amazing...lets come back tomorrow", your just gonna leave pleasantly full...thats it. I wanted to try something different here. Millie's actually has wi-fi and am writing at the counter on a Friday evening. This is an odd way to Yelp, but figure it was "man on the street" type of reporting. Decor: It's like a midwestern diner with the comforts of grandma's house. It's got such homespun feel to the place. Much more so than a place like Norm's. The lighting is dim and a bit depressing. Not so much a terrible depressing, but is VERY similar to something you'd see in the Midwest diners like a Friendly's or Perkins. I can imagine this place being a smoker's paradise when you use to be able to smoke indoors with a bottomless cup of coffee. It's very homey. The menu follows suit. Fried chicken. Chicken pot pie, steaks....oh wait my steak came by....waitaminute. Okay, I'm back. I got the tri-tip and it's not bad. For $10.99 I got a 6oz steak, some steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes and gravy. Potatoes are lumpy. That means they made it fresh. The gravy is from a mix though. I've made this type before and can taste the difference. The steak is surprisingly good. Tender as I ordered medium rare. The service is good. It's hard to be completely ignored sitting at the counter. So, if you're a family, it may be different. It's really quiet. A mish mash of characters from the valley. I'm sure later tonight it may yield weirder folk, but for now, it seems like regulars. Which is always a good sign. The place is quaint and quiet. It's good to hide out from the hectic Hollywood b.s. every once in a while. Millie's does have a nice feel. Nothing extraordinary, but it does it's job. It'd be interesting to return during the day. I always passed by this place around work, until a friend of mine wanted to come here for lunch. We both decided here and it was a great choice he made. The lady who took our order, though it took a little time due to being the only server there; was very friendly, helpful and good at what she does. I ordered a Denver omelette with a side of pancake and my friend also got a omelette also. The portions were huge and very filling. Needs some updating but very nice staff. It's not too crowded although on a Sunday afternoon it can get packed. The food is really good I like the fajita tacos, onion rings, fries, and ultimate burger. Their eggs come anyway you want in I usually like over easy but it comes back to mushy so I get it over medium here. I like the coffee too it not a Starbucks but it's good 'ol joe. Way better than a Denny's in price and good. And less expensive than an overcrowded IHOP.
