This place is carved right out of a local NJ history book! We love coming here. It's a rustic little cafe where you seat yourself, all the tables and chairs are antique and all different. We love to sit by the window looking down at the quick moving stream below. Friendly service, always the same women here. There's art for sale through out the eatery and I enjoy looking around at them. It's decorated just as an old county farm house would be. Everything about this place is peaceful and relaxing. You can see hints that at one time this place must have been a busy local store. The food is good, never had a complaint. We usually come here for breakfast, I love the fresh orange slices they add with my order of eggs. They sell fresh pies by the cashier too. CASH ONLY our first time here we had to leave and find an ATM On warm days, there's 3 tables out front and if you're lucky you can sit outside for breakfast or lunch. And you're surrounded by antique dealers that you can just walk to in any direction. My go-to breakfast joint. Cash only, do hit up the Atm before hand. They are open every Wednesday-Monday (closed only on Tuesday) 6am-5pm. They serve the freshest breakfast around from 6am-11:30am, they then switch to lunch which is also super fresh and just amazing overall. If you aren't the patient type I would not suggest you come here, they are a family owned and operated small café. Note, not a RESTAURANT where there are 30+ tables to choose from, but a Cafe quant, warm, and cozy atmosphere. Nice atmosphere which is important because you are going to be waiting for a very, very, long time. We went for breakfast on a Sunday, not every table was taken but the place was mostly full. The waitstaff was friendly, the food was good but pricey. With tip $50 for breakfast for 3. What I can't excuse was the incredibly long time it took to get our food. One hour and fifteen minutes. For Breakfast! The staff should have told us that they were behind and it would be a while. By the time the food was served, I just wanted to get out of there. I will not be back. 3 stars because I've been here many times over the years- it's a regular stop for us en route from Hoboken, NJ to Lake Ariel, PA- and the breakfast/lunch offerings are great, the ambience charming (antique/country cottage) and the people generally friendly. The big negative of this place is that they consistently close early and are not accommodating. If you are going to close your kitchen at 2:30 so YOU can be out the door by 3, well then you shouldn't list your hours 8-3. With limited food options in the area, it pretty much sucks that we miss out on lunch because we arrive at 2:40. You should be more clear about the hours you are actually open for business. Four of us went for lunch. Food was fine. Service was OK until the end. Waited and waited for the bill. Finally had to get back to work and went up to the counter to pay. Waitress asked what table number we were sitting at? As if I am expected to know their internal table numbering system. The bill was $59.81. The amount seemed beyond what it should have been. When we questioned the waitress about the amount she was outright rude. In a very snippy tone, she said "the chicken salads were $10.95 each, the chicken clubs were $9. The food is farm fresh to table. How cheap do you want it to be?" I was very displeased with the tone of her response and decided not to pursue the matter further with her. I was fine with the menu pricing. Her math was wrong. Food total should have been $39.90. We had 2 iced teas and 2 waters. Maybe an additional $5?? How do they get $59.81 from that? When I returned to the office, attempted to get the issue resolved. Called them via telephone, phone number was no good. Sent and email, was immediately returned undeliverable. Will not be returning. Highly recommend AGAINST this place. read more

We ate here on a Saturday morning. The place was half full. A young lady quickly brought us a high chair, menus and coffee while we awaited the rest of our party to arrive. That was the end of the good service. A server finally appeared and briskly asked us what we wanted. About five minutes later she brought food to the table, but it wasn't ours, so she quickly snatched it away and served the proper table. When our food did arrive she had no idea who got what. We ordered a short stack of pancakes to be shared by my two toddler grandsons. She forgot the empty second plate. She brought the wrong dish to my daughter-in-law, had to it to the kitchen. In a few minutes she brought the correct food, but still forgot the extra plate. My wife ordered a short stack with crispy bacon. She got dried out pancakes and limp bacon. I order the omelet of the day, which was very good. We were never offered refills for our coffee until we were almost ready to leave. I had toast but was not offered jam or jelly to go with it. My grandsons hardly touched their pancakes, probably because they were so dry. My wife said they tasted they were made with a boxed mix using water. All in all not a real enjoyable experience. Very cute lunch spot in Lafayette, NJ. Their fresh turkey BLT was tasty as well as their grilled chicken mozzarella sandwich. Their pie was decent but not fresh. A little disappointing since its summer and their is an abundance of farmers markets nearby. The staff were friendly but the service was very average. We asked for a slice of pie after finishing our sandwiches and the response was less than pleasant. Not sure why you would want to scare away customers when they are looking to give you more business. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE..... My fiancee and I have eaten here about 4 times in the past 2 years. Each time I must say the food is pretty darn good. This past weekend, we had the chicken cordon bleu sandwich and the Roast beef dip or whatever it is called. I would give the food about a 7-7.5/10. The problem hear is service. All four times we have been there, we have waited significant amounts of time for pretty well everything. This past Sunday, there were 3 tables inside and us and we waited close to 10 minutes for someone to even take a drink order and they had 3 waitresses on. Service is also disjointed and none of the waitress know what the other ones are doing. We had multiple waitresses come up and ask us to take our orders, etc when someone had already done it, albeit 10 minutes longer than it should have taken. I give the service about a 3-3.5/10. For two sandwiches, it took us nearly an hr to eat. read more

They failed to tell us the refills are also $3.75. We paid almost $30 for iced teas. They forgot our soups. When we reminded them, they brought out one and forgot the other again, so we never got it. The decor is cozy with antiqued tables and mismatching place settings. My lemonade was served in a Mason jar which was a nice touch. While I enjoyed my food there was nothing special about it in terms of seasonings. In other words, it was good but could have used a burst of flavor to take it beyond bland. The service was attentive and friendly and we would have left without a complaint until it came time to pay our bill. To my shock and chagrin, the restaurant does not accept credit card and doesn't consider it important to let customers know until they reach the cash register. When I recovered from the surprise and feeling very awkward and uncomfortable asked where the notification was, the server and cashier pointed to the stickie attached to the top of the register. I suggested they let people know beforehand and received a sarcastic response. I was told how to get to a local gas station down the road that has an ATM. I got cash, returned and paid my bill but will not return. The experience left a sour taste as it was unpleasant and unexpected. Stopped here after driving back from a two day stay at a friends house on Delaware River and were hungry. We had our little dog with us so were looking for a place with outdoor seating. When we saw this charming little village and the restaurant we decided to give it a try. It was about 2 pm, place was empty and the weather was beautiful so porch was perfect. I will say I was a bit puzzled by the aloof nature of the wait staff. Went inside to read a menu and after reading spoke to the counter person about ordering, but she quickly snapped "You're at the table outside right?, we will bring menus to the table". I thought OK, but no-one came out to greet us so assumed it was order at the counter. Anyway, it still took an additional 5 minutes for our waitress to come out, set our table and take orders. This all went smooth and she was very friendly, items on menu were a bit unique and progressive for the look of this place, so I was a bit skeptical. To my surprise, food arrived timely and all was great! My sons cajun beef wrap was awesome and my daughter loved her Chicken Mozz panini! My wife and I ordered conventional burgers to be safe and they were terrific as well! The waitress came outside asked how everything was and then left the bill. Daughter wanted Ice cream so went back in to select a flavor, waitress was helpful and let us sample which we did and purchased two cones that were more than satisfactory. Then the same thing happened again were no-one came out to collect the bill, so I went inside and stood at the counter where our waitress was cleaning up for the day (Thats when I realized the place closes at 3 and we were the last patrons ) and another was talking to her while not doing much at all. Finally after about 2 minutes watching this, I interrupted them saying "do I pay here?" Then our waitress asked the other to ring me up, but I don't know, it felt like I didn't know the custom there. Anyway, 4 stars for location (which is part of the Lafayette Mill Antique Village), charming ambience, and food.
