I have been on the hunt for some good fried chicken. I think I've found a great place to get some. I've only been here a couple of times and this is the first time since new ownership. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and my husband had the chicken fried steak with rice. The fried chicken was very good, in fact I cleaned my plate. It was hot, juicy and tender inside and crispy on the outside. The service was very good as well. Friendly staff, decent prices, and good food. It's bright and cheery with a family diner feel. Well was hoping for more :(. We came in around 10am for breakfast. We haven't been back since they changed the name back to Milts. Service was ok in the beginning but after our order our server was moved to a different station and the person he introduced us to pretty much forgot us. I ordered the chili verde omelette and my wife ordered the ground sirloin patty and eggs. It took a long time for our food to arrive. The chili-verde was lukewarm warm and super salty. My wife's plate was also lukewarm and the patty had zero seasoning. We were hoping for the Old Milts which had great service and food. read more

I have been a customer at Milts for quite some time. It has always been my go to place for breakfast and dinner on occasion. I am sad to say it has become what I would call cafeteria food. Yes the place is clean and the service is great but the food sucks. I had a dish of what was supposed to be Pasta with meat sauce and it was horrible. They used to make the best home made desserts well no longer. I had what was supposed to be an apple cobbler Bad , Bad, Bad.The apples were crunchy and I could not cut the cut through the baked flour part. Sorry Milt you lost me forever read more

We just returned yesterday to Milts after they switched back to the old menu and recipes. First of all cudos to Milts for their employee Avery. He gave us great service. He was quick efficient and super friendly. We ordered the ground sirloin and eggs and an omelet with sausage and two drinks. The omelet was good although I thought it was smaller. My husband enjoyed his breakfast. I did think $7.00 for four small link sausage was too high. We would go back. I hope Milts works out as it was one if my favorite diners. Thanks Avery. read more

Good service. Tried the chicken fried steak and eggs for dinner. Had the biscuits and gravy. Steak was a little too tender for me, not much chew to it. Hash browns were excellent. We found this gem on the way back home to Fresno from Six Flags yesterday! We love this place so much because of the ambiance, the customer service and the food! Bad that really home-y old school diner feel, they even have their own peanut butter maker. Which is pretty much a peanut grinder, so their peanut butter was fresh. They also make their own salsas and sauces, which were all very good! Margaux our server was amazing, very friendly and was very attentive. The service is really impeccable ! I have came here several times when visiting. My parents .I've had lunch and breakfast here ,both are outstanding ! I travel from Fresno to LA for business every month. Used to go to Milts for breakfast on the way back. I stopped going after the sale and new ownership. Saw on the way down awhile ago that the name changed back to Milts. Decided to give it a try this morning. Glad I did. Excellent ham and eggs with biscuits and gravy. The service was also excellent. The look and feel of Milt's was classic. I love the Norman Rockwell adorning the walls. Very cozy and warm diner. Our food was great. I had a mixed berry cake with an awesome glaze on top. My picky 7 year old son gobbled up his chocolate pancakes. We were both in love of the chili fries. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Our server, Avery was awesome, warm, and friendly. Last week my Niece and I were meeting at a halfway point, she from San Diego and I from Modesto. We decided to meet at Milts Diner in Bakersfield. What a find!!! The food was delicious and came out hot,they start you off with some fluffy beignets that were great.Having been to the other locations I knew what to expect as far as food quality and service. I would have given them 5 stars but I believe they're a bit understaffed the service was okay I had to ask for my coffee after ordering it and waiting about 10 mins or so,it also took over 30 mins to get our food after ordering. Seeing as it just opened and it was a Sunday morning I'm not gonna ago to hard on them they just definitely need to work out the bugs. As for the food it was delicious if not better than the other locations. The pancakes were fluffy and moist , the hash browns cooked to perfection and the biscuit and gravy was delicious. The chicken fried steak lacked a bit of seasoning but it was nothing a little salt couldn't fix. Overall it was a nice experience and look forward to returning in the near future. read more

My mom and I had a delightful Friday night dinner! First and foremost, you can't beat the staff and customer service--we instantly loved everyone we met. Freshly brewed iced tea with good ice. THE BEST DINER IN ALL OF BAKERSFIELD, HANDS DOWN!!! Everything was absolutely perfect and beyond our expectations. The deep pit is sooooooo good I couldn't believe how tender it was, not dry or unflavorful at all, it was like literal butter, SO GOOD. My husband got the chicken and waffles, it blew my mind... the waffles are straight from heaven, they're airy and almost taste/smell like birthday cake it was sooo good, served with their cinnamon butter was delicious!!the fried chicken was also so crispy and perfect on the outside and so juicy (literally dripping it was so moist) on the inside. We got cherry cobbler and ice cream for dessert and it was just as fantastic, my super picky 3 year old tried it and was licking the plate when she was done it was so good, I couldn't believe it! Our waitress Margot went above and beyond for us, let us sample the deep pit even before ordering and made the experience dining there 100x better. She was so kind and so on top of everything and just makes you feel at home, she was truly an angel! Took my brother and niece here to redeem his free birthday meal (the coupon said it covered any meal on the menu). We both ended up ordering the cinnamon roll french toast... It was both massive and delicious. We both couldn't help comparing the french toast battered fried cinnamon rolls to funnel cakes; we definitely couldn't finish our meals. Our waitress was super friendly, and the whole staff checked in when they passed our table. The restaurant still has the same family diner atmosphere of Milt's, but the food is much better in my opinion. I was kind of iffy about the idea of ORG taking over the Milt's location, but they have done a great job. We will definitely be going back! read more
