As the waitress took our four breakfast orders, she asked if we wanted bell peppers and onions with our potato's. We all said yes until someone asked if their was an upcharge for them. Ew. I ordered the crab cake benedict. The crab was grossly mushy and tasted like canned tuna fish. No crab texture or flavor. I asked for the eggs over medium so none of the egg white was raw. Well, the eggs were fried instead of poached, with hard egg yolks. The english muffin was not toasted, and the hollandaise had zero lemon. The potatoes were not crispy. I sent it back. To replace the eggs bennie, I ordered ham and swiss crepes. I had to send that back too. The ham was inedible because it was absurdly salty. The swiss cheese was not melted enough on the top, yet the ends of the crepes were crunchy. Wrong. Again with a side of underwhelming potatoes. I'm glad I didn't order the mimosa flight. It was three champagne flutes, each filled with high fructose corn syrupy slurry that you add your own sparkling wine into...from ONE tiny bottle. The waiter was nice and apologetic. We tipped for two meals even though my guest was the only one that ate. The hostess was cold when we finally saw her. We should have walked out. We waited along with other patrons to be seated for 15 minutes.-No hostess in sight. By the way, if you are going to decorate the place completely Cajun, New Orleans, Dixieland, alligator decor this and that, you better have at least one menu item that reflects the theme. Zero. My friend and I ended up here on Mother's Day with no reservation. Luckily we arrived early and were seated right away. Food was good and the specialty coffee was nice as well. Wow, I online ordered and I have no clue where to start. Once home after picking up, the order was not completed. I was missing my food, two entrees were not given. To correct the issue, we called the restaurant and were told that the kitchen staff were confused because I ordered trio appetizer and quesadilla, but was only given the trio, no quesadilla. A fabulous restaurant to go to. It was my first with my Grammy. Our server Benjamin was very polite, came by the table often to make sure all was good and could he do any more for us. Grammy had Grilled Salmon she said it moist and seasoned well. It came with a salad, dressing was Balsamic vinegar etc. I had the Sandwich Trio, choice of soup, your sandwich with fries. Jason's incredible level of service set the tone for a lovely brunch experience here. Came here per a Reddit recommendation that their pancakes were some of the best in town. The cakes were tasty, a nice crisp finish from the griddle, but what really drew me in was their smoked salmon omelette, which was like a salmon lox bagel but on an omelette. The service was very good. My luncheon companion was happy with her generous spinach and strawberries salad, half of which she took home. I had the sandwich trio, turkey "royale" on wheat. The half sandwich was tasty, but small. The corn chowder was okay, but an extremely small serving not much larger than a small juice glass. Definitely not worth $17.95!! I also ordered the jambalaya to go, which was a very small serving with only THREE shrimp and some bits of sausage, a total ripoff at $23.79. We used to eat at Mimi's fairly often pre-pandemic, but the service and food quality declined. Had the turkey dinner---the turkey was ok, but the stuffing was mush, gravy was very salty. The meatloaf, it was like a salsbury steak with a gross glaze, mashed potatoes were instant & tasteless. Pot pie was half filled & mostly liquid what was in there. Strawberry lemonade was over $4. Waitress never came back once our food was served. Never got water or lemonade refills after that. I need to preface this review by stating that, even though it is a little on the pricey side, I have always enjoyed Mimi's Cafe. We have been coming here for at least 20 years and have always been pleasantly satisfied. We even had our favorite waiter (we miss you Jeff!) wait on us for several of those years. The food has always been high quality and the service team top notch. We have also been to several Thanksgiving dinners at Mimi's over the years and have especially enjoyed this since our daughter does not prefer turkey and has always been able to order off the regular menu. Well all of this ended today and, sadly, we will no longer be returning and will tell everyone we know to avoid this place. It is truly sad that since COVID, service has gone dramatically downhill, but what we experienced today is beyond any sort of excuse. We decided to eat Thanksgiving at Mimi's, since it has traditionally been satisfactory to above satisfactory. We made our reservations and showed up this morning ready to enjoy. We were greeted by a rather rude hostess who told us since our reservation was at 10:45, we had to order breakfast and even if we waited until 11, we would not be allowed to order off the dinner menu....WHAT?!? I couldn't believe the rigidity of this and asked to speak to a manager, who was equally, it not more rude than the hostess. She stated we would have to order breakfast and would not be allowed to order off the lunch or dinner menu. Are you kidding me? What if someone wants a burger, sandwich, or just simply does not like turkey? Sorry Mimi's, we ended up at another establishment that offered a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, along with all regular menu items. This complaint will not stop here, I am posting this to all restaurant review outlets, including the Mimi's corporate office. Your ideocratic rules have lost lifetime customers for life. read more

My wife and I have been dining out less, with the pandemic in full swing, but from time to time we still like to get out for lunch and dinner. We we had business in the area, so we decided to stop at Mimi's Cafe for dinner, a reliable favorite of ours, which was nearby. Seating was spaced which was good and everyone there (customers included) were acting like humans, wearing masks, which is comforting to a degree, and we were greeted and seated promptly. One of our favorites is the corm chowder, which is imitated but never duplicated. We decided on that for an appetizer, and it was delicious (as always) We ordered New York Steak and the Sweet Grilled Salmon. Both meals were fabulously outstanding, the steak was cooked to ultimate perfection as was the salmon, the sides also get high marks. Prices have been going up for food and the help situation is also costing more, so the meal ended up being $65 for both us us, and we added a $10 tip, so the whole dinner ended up costing $75, which is the highest price we ever paid there for dinner. We did have attentive service, however, and that's something that's in short supply at some places, and that has to be recognized. All in all, though, our dinners were so good that they make us want to come back soon. We've been going there for years and expect to continue the tradition. I love the chicken pot pie! It is absolutely the best thing I have ever tasted. The crust is light and very very flakey. The inside is rich and creamy. The service is excellent. The decor reminds me strongly of a European open air market. I have seen many places in France, parts of Spain, and parts of Belgium that have that sort of look. The awning, the window flowers and a chairs where you can sit outside and watch the world go by. In this restaurant everything is indoors and the steel cafe chairs are replaced with comfy booths. There is a full bar that also serves elaborate specialty coffees. This place is a delight! read more

Bottom Line: Good food. Excessively expensive. Slamdance their staff. Top Line: I had lunch at Mimi's as part of a group of about 25 seniors. I wanted a very light lunch, so ordered 2 eggs scrambled $4 and a cup of black coffee $3. Sorry Mimi's, but $7 + tax for two eggs & a cuppa joe is exorbitant. So one star lost for poor value, i.e. too much $$ for the quantity of food. However, to give the kitchen crew their due, the eggs that came to table were very light & fluffy. Extremely well executed cooking. The accompanying salsa was quite flavorful, though not particularly hot on that old Scoville scale. Another star deducted for using very flavorless margarine instead of real butter. The "spread" that came with the complimentary bread was like barely solidified vegetable oil. Pretty vile stuff. Another star lost for assigning only one waitress to handle all 25'ish of our group for lunch. That's bad staff management. Seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. Our waitress was nonetheless a trooper, soldiering on and hustling her buns off getting everyone menu'ed, bringing waters & drinks to table, getting orders taken, promptly delivering requested extra napkins etc, running food to the tables, delivering checks, and handling payments from the mob of us. Sorry I didn't get her name because she deserves huge kudos for her proficiency and friendly professionalism in the face of a daunting task. So I probably won't be back to Mimi's due to the high priced poor value and my inclination to not encourage businesses that are willing to mistreat (overload) their staff. What a sad experience this was. First thing I did was go to the restroom (because I visited after a long movie) and the toilet seat was barely hanging on by one very loose screw. There was also no toilet paper, it was disgustingly dirty and the trash can lid wouldn't open when I pressed the foot peddle. Then when I got to a table it was also dirty, with some kind of sticky splotches everywhere. The food was also a mess, I got the blandest potatoes au gratin you could imagine, I don't even think there was cheese in them, my fried fish was oily and rubbery and when our dessert came, the tiramisu, it was STILL FROZEN. I mean it literally had ice crystals on top of it and was hard to cut into with my fork. I will say that at least our waiter was super nice and accommodating so he definitely deserved the tip I left but the $80 we spent there for 2 people was such a waste otherwise. I can't see how I would ever be motivated to go back again or tell anyone else to visit. read more

WORST experience with delivery ever. I ordered the Mediterranean salad and the chicken was canned. It was so gross that I had to throw it out. There was barely any quinoa and the olives also came from a can And there was no feta cheese. My friend ordered the croque monsieur sandwich..... first off, there was no bread, no cheese, they legit gave us scrambled eggs and ham. Lastly, my friend ordered a burger- the only thing that was edible, however he asked for a side of bacon that also never came. But it's impossible for them to provide good service, considering the level of understaffing. 2. Lattes: I enjoy a latte with breakfast, but their machine has been broken for last few visits. Had a nice,slow Sunday morning breakfast today, parking lot around the restaurant was pretty full and we expected a bit of a wait....definitely accustomed to the busy breakfast scene in Albuquerque. But we were seated quickly to our surprise Great service, didn't catch our servers name(shame on me). But a change in my life schedule had be a bit foggy lately Good coffee arrived quickly and a big foamy cappuccino for my wife soon after Ordered the obligatory homemade muffin and croissant . But whoops ! Microwaved for warmth...darn Ham and cheese crepes with swiss cheese and home fries was my order. Potatoes were microwaved...strike two Wife's meal hit with the dreaded microwave as well so from here on out, nobody cares what it was because nobody spends their restaurant money on microwaved meals Eaten at many Mimi's many times here and in other states This is not what we expect from them.
