Best service ever and a great cup of coffee too! I stopped with friends after a hike in Kankakee. The cafe had small town charm and big time flavor. The decor was really cute too!!

Good clean place. Had breakfast with my son. No delays, food started fresh. Will return.

Came here on a Friday during Lent so I didn't get to take the pic of the menu like I normally would. I had to go for a non-meat option. I chose the French onion soup. This was really good, rich and very flavorful. It would have been nice if it came with a slice of French bread on the side as well, but it was still very tasty. My dad got the three pancake trio and that looked really good. I was envious. Had a cinnamon bun pancake, a cookie butter pancake, and a strawberry pancake.

Mimi's is a spot that I have been going to since I was in high school. I was happy that their breakfast menu is more vegetarian friendly than their lunch menu. Our server was very kind and attentive. We tried a muffin that was delightful. I was disappointed in the avocado toast simply because the amount of avocado was small. I ended up taking the slices from someone else's meal to get close to a full serving. I was also sad that they didn't offer oat milk, but almond is okay. This is just a casual family friendly spot that offers a fine breakfast.

I was very disappointed from the minute I walked in the door. The decor for Christmas was minimal and the restaurant looked like an old Tuscan Grandmothers house. The service was fair. He had no personality and spoke barely above a whisper. The food was mediocre at best. Not hot, not flavorful

The server was very kind, but service was very slow. The restaurant has an older Cajun vibe but the seat I was on was so old I was sitting half in a hole in the bench seat. I tried the strawberry basil margarita, but it was not drinkable as it was too much mix. My husband got the jambalaya, which was okay but underwhelming. The bacon, crab, and shrimp pasta was okay for a few bites but very oily to the point it wasn't edible as it cooled. We were supposed to get toast with each dish, but didn't get it with either. The appetizer sampler was the saving grace for this meal and was the only reason it received more than one star. Overall, it was very overpriced for very subpar quality. Our meal was right at 100 dollars and more than half wasn't consumable.

Nice spot! The entire restaurant is huge, so there's a ton of seating. There was no wait for breakfast, we were seated promptly and our server greeted us pretty quickly once we were seated. The menu is extensive with so many different choices, not only for breakfast, but lunch and dinner as well. I've passed this place too many times not realizing what it had to offer. A great location in the Valley! Food was great! Another unexpected option was the huge beverage selection, including boozy breakfast options! Can't wait to try another meal here!

Never been to a Mimi's, tried it for lunch service. Pretty uninspiring menu, typical sandwich/burger fare so I went with a burger. Service was space, the place was not bustling by any means but looks like only 2 servers. My burger arrived and it is clearly not fresh. It's a frozen, out of a box hockey puck burger on a brioche bun. First bite, flavorless.and not hot. Not impressed with this restaurant. My server visited my table once, and ignored me until I requested my check. My booth was dirty looking, in disrepair and neglected. The pleather was flaking and the cloth seemed filthy. Ugh. My first and likely my only meal at Mimi's Cafe. Do better.

I was looking for a diner and decided to check out Mimi's. The atmosphere was cozy like and definitely had a cafe vibe in the air. It took several minutes to be greeted and seated, then several more minutes to get drink orders. The wait staff was polite. I ordered spinach artichoke, a cajun shakshuka and the grand breakfast with bacon, eggs, and pain perdu mixed with berries. The spinach artichoke was solid and parmesan forward, the cajun shakshuka was underwhelming in flavor and spices, no real cajun flavor to speak of and honestly a less than hearty shakshuka, a nice effort that fell flat, the eggs and bacon were what you would want from any diner, the star of the show was the pain perdu, soft, moist, and yet fluffy and airy at the same time. If I recommend anything here it's the typical diner fare.

    Delicious food and great service

Service was impeccable from the moment we stepped in. We were brought some warm bread while we looked at the menu. I ordered the N/A West Wnd Botanical spritz and my partner got a dirty martini. Both were very excellent. We started off with the steak tartare, which was SPECTACULAR. One of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend got the braised beef and I got the bistro steak. Both plates were a 10/10. The meats were super tender, fries were perfect, and the mashed potatos were really creamy. At the end, our waitress brought us their chocolate mousse with a candle to celebrate. Truly the best mousse we've ever tried. We were both very impressed with the food and service. I'd highly recommend this place for a nice date night or girls night.

My crab cakes (croquettes) tasted fine but the texture was mushy and wet. My husband had scallops served in a light Gruyère sauce--an interesting choice mixing cheese and fish. I had a spoonful of the sauce; it was lovely. The server said in winter they serve it over pasta which totally makes sense. We both tried the French onion soup having heard it was a must try. For both of us it was a miss. I love salty foods but even for me it was too much. Plus the soggy bread (croutons?) beneath the melted cheese was just unnecessary. Who wants pieces of bread that just falls apart floating in their soup? Is that a thing? My saumon à la moutarde was scrumptious! It had a nice crust and the mustard flavor was perfection! The side veggies of carrot, beans, and a piece of aubergine (zucchini) were fine, heavily buttered as expected. A side of gratin dauphinois was acceptable, but again, so heavily buttered and baked until the potatoes were between tender and mushy. The top layer had a chew, but not a satisfying contrast. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert and found it just okay, a great sugar coat on top, but the custard unremarkable. At the bottom of the ramekin, the custard had scalded. The server was polite, but he didn't ask if it was our first time there (it was) or offer to explain anything on the menu. He had great rapport with the tables adjacent to us, laughing and joking with them. I guess maybe they were regulars. Later, I joked to my husband that we failed to entertain our server. It was weird. Finally, they didn't acknowledge my birthday, which I'd noted on our reservation. The restaurant we went to for my husband's birthday made a point of celebrating discreetly and nicely.

We've been here several times for their wine pairing dinners, and I am always completely blown away; and that's putting it mildly. The space is just gorgeous. Their wine pairing dinners sell out quickly, so keep your eyes on their website and social media. I'd also recommend waiting for a dinner when you know you're going to love every single course, only because the dinners are quite expensive. We recently went to their white truffle dinner and had, hands down, the best dining experience of our lives. Show up early--I believe you can get to your table an hour before the dinner begins--and let their talented team craft you a cocktail. From there, you can definitely expect top-tier plates and expertly-paired wines. Truly, it's just a delightful experience from beginning to end. Our meal started with a complimentary offering of their bleu cheese soufflé with crisps and bread service--both delicious. I enjoyed a glass of their current "by the glass" Chardonnay, and my boyfriend got a Yeungling (poured table-side). I got my scallops, as planned, which certainly did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly, fresh and delicious. The wilted romaine seemed odd at first but totally rounded out the potato mash at the base, with the absolute flavor-bomb of the shiitakes. Highly recommend this dish any day! My boyfriend opted for the NY Strip; we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we'd ever had; seasoned perfectly and cooked masterfully. There was a slight mishap whereby a food runner gave him a tasting portion of the strip (likely meant for another table); we first didn't realize and were very disappointed with the size. However, without a word from us, the chef came out and personally explained, apologized, and corrected--I didn't snap a photo of the full portion when it came out, but it was perfect and much more what we expected. That brings me to the service, which was spectacular. Several staff members gave us a personal touch and they all seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The space is beautiful and intimate. It was moderately busy and still quiet. The atmosphere feels upscale, but not pretentious or unapproachable. This place was on my radar for a long time, and I sure wish I'd gone long ago.
