This has been one of my favorites but over pst year between the screaming children and yelling parents and the burnt food that takes 30-40 min to get to your table and the other 20 min to get the wait staff attention for anything including check -we've had to start trying new places. I would love to share the many photos of wait staff hanging out talking with backs turned to restaurant for 10 + min at a time and the many burnt crepe dishes delivered after 20 min or more wait and then they are also cold. I hope management returns it back to the way it was-good and enjoyable. I waited until 4 back to back disappointing visits before commenting or stopping going. OK let's get straight to the point, everything has really gone down hill. How do you mess up breakfast; I don't know, but this place does a great job of doing that. The atmosphere of Mimi's café no longer exists and neither does the service or quality of food. You would think with La Madeleines owning the operation that their quiche Lorraine would be phenomenal but it is not. In January 2016, my friend and I were in Fort Worth to attend something and was in a hurry to find a restaurant to eat for lunch. So I googled and I saw Mimis Cafe. So we decided to go try it. I don't remember what I ordered, but I know we ordered the huge muffins. I had the carrot one I think and my friend ordered the blueberry. They were so delicious that I could still remember today the time I took my first bite. I only gave it 4 stars because they don't have any locations close or around Dallas. Staff horrible, I normally don't complain on this but beware of slow service. Only got one refill on drink and waited forever on food.

Sorry to say this place is declining fast. We have been eating here for many years and really liked the food, but in the last year or so it has gone downhill. The new menu yesterday looked appealing, but I ended up sending the food back for something edible. (It was the chicken crepes in orange syrup, er...sauce). HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I can't remember the last time a hostess/server was this rude. There was one person eating in the entire restaurant, and we stood at the hostess station for several minutes, not seeing a soul. We got menus to look at while we waited. The lone worker finally came out, looked at the menus in our hands, rolled her eyes, and got more menus for us. As she did, we said we already had them and she ignored us. We then put our menus back and followed her to seats. It's a large restaurant, but she sat us right next to the other person there. We said we were ready to order, but she just scoffed and said it would be awhile before we could and she walked away. I love the French atmosphere of this restaurant. The food is consistently great, especially breakfast. Coffee and tea are fantastic and include lattes and cappuccinos. Ask for Jesse. He's the most amazing server and has been there for years. He treats you as though you are in a five star upscale restaurant and his attention to detail is superb! We did a private party here and the service was awful. First they messed up the reservation causing us to push back our event by one hour and don't take responsibility. Second they would not allow us to put our cake in the private room despite it being empty. The room was freezing cold. The waitress was so rude, I've never been treated so poorly in all my life. She was pouring drinks and spilling them all over the table and our phones. The hostess of the party tried to help her and she rudely told her that she had it and to let her do it. They ran out of what I was wanting to eat and were reluctant to be accommodating on substituting the side for a salad. Luckily the person the party was for had a great time, but we will never have a party here again, nor will I recommend this establishment to anyone in the future. Especially when you can get better food other places such as La Madeline. I don't recommend having a large party here or even tea by yourself. The manager and staff are horrible. read more

We have ordered for the holidays from Mimi's before and it was good but it's been a couple of years so we decided to try again. I would not recommend ordering their take out turkey dinner. The turkey was dry, we couldn't even eat the mashed potatoes (giant chunks) or the green bean casserole (no taste). I'll give it one star for the mediocre sweet potatoes. I cannot tell you how the food tasted since I never got it. I came with my husband and three year old son. The server seemed friendly and recommended the chicken tillamook, which I went for. He brought us our drinks (which I ordered water and my husband ordered tea and we both got water) and some bread was dropped off. After that, 2 tables were sat and received their food before us. We figured something happened and continued to wait. The server came by to bring more bread and water and told us our food was on its way twice! But after an hour of no food, and getting looks because my 3 yr old wanted his food, we left. Probably would not have been so bad if someone had told us what the hold up was, we are very understanding that things happen, but to continue to be told that our food was on the way and not be was very disappointing. read more

I personally would never go back to Mimi's Cafe after today. I will admit I was hoping they had kept most of the original menu after they got bought out. But I was disappointed. My husband and I still decided to forward and try them out after the remodel. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, but the friendliness pretty much ended there. I am sure the waiter we had is a generally nice guy and we could sense he was trying. But his mind was elsewhere. It took him forever to fill our drink order, and never asked us if we wanted a refill. He got our food order wrong, my husband asked for no avocado on his omelette but still got avocado. Our waiter never checked on us to see how the food was, so he decided it wasn't worth the trouble of pointing it out, scrapped it off from the top and picked it out from the omelette. I, on the other hand could not fully enjoy the egg sandwich I ordered. The waiter asked if mayo was okay on the sandwich when ordering, I agreed but asked to make it very little mayo. Well I got more mayo than sandwich. I couldn't even taste the sandwich there was so much mayo. I ordered a cappuccino, my husband called it a crapuccino. When the waiter finally came by, after we were done eating, he dropped off the check, left and then picked it back up and that was it. As much as I wanted to keep going to them, I think we will have to put Mimi's Cafe behind us forever to be apart of our past. read more

The service was outstanding ( even tho it was the servers 1st week ) the manager came by to see how everything was. This is 2016! It is sad that we were still discriminated against. At the South Fort Worth Location. We came for a family breakfast and sat for over 15mins while three other parties were seated and we still was never served. Once we asked the waitress did we have a server she was rude and replied she would get back to us. After serving two other parties. When the manager was asked to come to the table she was very rude and when told that her white waitresses would not serve her black customers she stated ok thank you. Worst restaurant experience oh my entire life. Waitress 1 kept saying how "retarded" some of the menu was (weird) 2nd waitress forgot to turn in our order (seriously??? At a restaurant? That's the sole purpose of your job) so we waited an hour before we figured that out. So order got turned in and got out quickly after that. Manager said he would comp our meals and then changed it to 1/2 off after most of the party left leaving the few left to pay for all of it. I will never go there again. read more

My husband and I had breakfast here over the weekend. Nice place inside, service was ok. However, while we were trying to enjoy our breakfast there was a couple seated behind us in the next booth. They were arguing not loud but enough to be heard by myself, who had my back towards them. We weren't even half into eating our breakfast when one of Mimi's famous muffins came from behind me all over my hair, our food, table and the floor! At first I thought there was a child that was playing food fight with his/her food (which wouldn't have been so bad) after all they're just kids. But, it was the man behind me that was apparently, mad enough at his wife or girlfriend, doesn't matter which, to throw his muffin at her. Well, he missed her and hit me! It took the waiter 5 minutes to clean it up. The man who threw it didn't even acknowledge that he threw it, much less apologize for it! We stopped our breakfast there, since there was muffin in our plates! The waiter, I think the supervisor, apologized but never once said anything to the man that threw it! If it was my place of business I would have asked that couple to leave. Especially, since they continued to argue and acted like nothing happened! Oh, I almost forgot. Mimi's way of making up for it was to give us 4 free muffins!!! We will not be going back to Mimi's. I was very disappointed in the way they handled the whole situation. Used to be a fan of Mimi's and often frequented both this location and the one in Grapevine (which has since closed). Both locations used to be packed, with a usual wait for table. Now, it's like a ghost town. We went during regular weekend brunch hours and there were five tables in the entire restaurant. The menu and food is unrecognizable. The cappuccino tasted like it came out of a convenience store machine. The French onion soup tasted like it was out of a can. The "crouton" wasn't toasted, just a soggy piece of bread, and there was just a scant amount of tasteless cheese on top that was barely melted, much less browned. The quiche was a much smaller portion that in the past, but considering the underdone crust and lack of seasoning, we didn't even finish that. The accompanying salad was not fresh and we had to pick out the well past wilted lettuce from the mesclun mix. The service was almost non-existent. They have redecorated and the charm is gone. It now looks unfinished with whitewashed walls and is completely uninviting. Their great menu is gone, their great service is gone, the food barely edible, and there is no atmosphere. In all fairness, this review is in regards to the grapevine location. I took my friend there for breakfast only to find a completely new menu and that the mimi's cafe chain had been sold to another company or owner. My food was horrible in comparison to the previous company standard. Since I no longer had the option of the crabcake florentine benedict, I chose a safe two egg breakfast with corned beef hash. The hash tasted like dried beef that had been reconstituted in lard and the scrambled eggs seemed to had been made by a six year old first time cook. The new owners/company ought to know that not only will they never get another one of my dollars but they should be shamed and embarrassed to present what they are calling a culinary experience. The former Mimi's Cafe was truly the greatest place to go for breakfast besides the Omni Hotel, downtown Fort Worth.
