The food was really good. There were 4 of us, & we were all very pleased. The service was top-notch & the surroundings was pleasant.

I've been to Mim's a bunch of times after originally coming to a YEE, but apparently I keep forgetting to now write a review on their main page! I've tried many different menu items and have always enjoyed what I have had. Service has always been cordial and welcoming and there is such a nice cozy vibe to the place. This review will be for the Winter 2017 Restaurant Week menu as it is fresh in my memory (and in my stomach!) We went on a Wednesday which they also happen to run a Wine Down Wednesday event which is half off bottles of white. We ordered the Matua from New Zealand to go with out meals. For starters, I had the Iron Skillet meatball parmesan with crotsini. It was delicious through and through and I loved how it is served on your own personal sized skillet. The cheese had a great layer of crisp on top of it, the sauce was well-seasoned and the meatballs slid right down. For entree, I had the duck with polenta and cranberry glaze. The skin was perfectly crisp, the meat juicy and tender and it definitely hit my hankering for the meat as I don't usually order it. I'm over the moon about their take on polenta For dessert I stuck to what I knew and had the oreo mousse cake, which I've had before, and a cappucino. I know, I know, no cappucinos after 11am... but... I hadn't had one in months and was going to have a coniption if I didn't have it. Always love Mim's and their unique spin on things! read more

I really haven't don't a review in a while. But I think this place deserves a review. I have been going to this restaurant every year. It is so good. The food is outstanding. I ordered a cheeseburger and had a warm apple crisp for my birthday! It was incredible. The service was awesome and very accommodating they even put a candle on my apple crisp. So let me lay it down for you.. Every interaction I had with Mim's and the owner Rich has always been about overwhelming generosity, hospitality and kindness. We recently came in for dinner with my Mother-in-law and her friend where, to our surprise, it was Restaurant Week with a fantastic menu. For apps, since my family is Greek, they each had to try the grilled mediterranean octopus app. It was plated with garbanzo beans, red onions, capers, lemon, parsley, arugula and evoo - they enjoyed the app, but could always use more octopus (never enough haha). I had the Burrata Fritti and it was delicious! I liked what they did since it is no longer summer they lightly fried it with a pomodoro and fresh basil reduction. All that gooey cheese mixed with the tomatoey sauce and basil perfect for dipping with all of Mim's fresh bread. The mains are where Mim's truly shined - we each had something different and all were truly special. The herb crusted rack of lamb has some of the most tender, flavorful melt in your mouth lamb I ever tried and a generous half dozen rack of chops. The crab crusted salmon was a thick piece and topping akin to a crabcake on a bed of tender, buttery barley risotto - so good. The Roasted Duck A L'Orange was juicy, tender with an beautiful kumquat orange glaze to cut the richness - I can't remember having duck this good before. The brussel sprouts with this were caramelized and full flavored. The surf and turf made my Mother-in-law's friend declare it was the best Filet Mignon he ever had when the owner Rich stopped by our table. Rich remembered my face from last year's elite event and other times we have met. He is the nicest guy filled with hospitality. I loved how he handled my MIL's friend when he said the duck could use more glaze (even though he devoured it before he could ask for more - it was that good). Rich immediately agreed and wished he brought out some on the side. It was an impressive move - "the customer is always right" and shows why, along with some of the best food, drinks and service, Mim's has been a LI institution all these years. read more

We went here to see my in-laws who had just returned from Florida. The wait was a little longer than we expected. The service had some dents and dings and it probably was not our servers finest hour. The kids got the mac and cheese and did not care for it. That might have more with it being a three cheese formulation and not some fake pasta:fake cheese in the box Kraft gruel. One of the kids got the chicken parm with pasta and he liked it. He said the cheese was good; the chicken well crisped and the pasta cooked perfectly. The missed got some Chideckel dish with vegetables that was ok. If they pounded it for three minutes it might have been better. My FIL got a burger with a tomato and some fries. He said it was very good. I got the chicken oriental salad. No. If you come here, suggest maybe not trying this. The lettuce was dry-ish, the peanuts likely from the snack dish by the bar, and the tangerine pieces from a can. The chicken was less like fowl and more like cardboard. Order something else. Maybe the chicken pot pie that my MIL said was really good. The desserts......the raspberry sorbet was uninspiring but the brown sundae....from what I was told, was excellent. The apple crisp was finished so I reckon the FIL liked it. Would I come back--maybe. read more

I know this place is loved by so many. Ive eaten here couple of times before for lunch and the food was not bad... just this Saturday dinner the kitchen must be so busy.... But thats not an excuse to serve shitty food if youre paying 27$ for a grilled steak sandwich with a small ceasar salad? Thats also another thing you oay 3$ extra if you want salad instead and you dont get the fries? It doesnt make sense. Its too bad that the quality of the food doesnt justify how much they charge for it. read more

Explains why they tasted like the ones out of the bag at Costco's don't think I will return to this place when there are so many excellent restaurants within 5 minutes if here. Idk can't quite decide , the place has a charm about it , it's comfortable and kind of classy but not In a stuffy way , it's clean and staff was really nice and accommodating, unfortunately the food was kinda so so. But maybe we picked the wrong dish ? I will try it again because I have faith in it , came here with a friend, we had a lot of chatting to catch up on , so we had our cocktails (which were good) and our waitress was great and didn't rush us. We both had entrees with no apps and no dessert sssoooo we didn't try a whole lot, which I am sorry about , saw other dishes pass by when we were finished and they looked fabulous, so we will come back. We had an excellent dinner experience at Mim's. Glad we made a reservation, as the valet would not take your car if you didn't ! Even with a reservation we had to wait a few minutes, but that was fine because it was well worth it. There were three of us and we were seated in a booth in the bar area which had a festive atmosphere, although not too loud which was a concern. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. My husband had a cheeseburger and fries which was juicy and delicious. My son had fish which he enjoyed very much. I had a bowl of tomato soup which was very good - creamy but not too thick. I really enjoyed. We did not feel rushed at all, although we didn't linger long knowing there was a line. We will be back to this terrific restaurant. read more

What happened to Mim's? This use to be my go to place for comfort food. But when I recently went for dinner, i was so dissapointed. I was looking forward to the chef's special Shrimp with Lobster Ravioli. Instead i got 4 small shrimp and Lobster Ravioli without the Lobster. I don't mind spending the money for quality food, but I don't want to go home and open up a can of Chef Boy-a-dee, which tasted better than the recommended Chef's Choice. Every time I come here I'm pleasantly surprised! They have complimentary valet which is nice. Loving The deliciousness of the food on their menus, specials are a must try, the plating, the service and love the ambiance as well. This last time my father was leaving the hospital from a heart attack days before. After looking at the menu my dad started to not feel good. That's his description! So the owner came over and suggested soup and suddenly my dad said ok he will try it. The staff was so kind! After my dad ate he felt better that man needs to learn how he feels and understand hunger! Lol ‍ I know I get all sorts of nauseous n dizzy and hangry if I don't eat. We made a reservation before arriving. We pulled up to the restaurant and was happy to see there was a valet. We were seated right away. Loved the atmosphere but felt we were a little off to the side. Our waiter rarely ever came to check up on us and after dropping the check, we had to ask the manager and another waiter chatting behind us to finally take the check and to give us the discount. It really was off putting despite the fact that the food was so good. The butternut squash bisque they had was soooo good. It's my husbands favorite. read more

We've been to Mims numerous times for dinner and have never been disappointed. Based on our positive experiences, we decided to try their catering for our daughter's bridal shower. We booked the place for yesterday March 19. As the father of the bride I want everything to go wonderfully for my little girl. We met several times with Barbara, before the event, to go over the details. Her experienced, professional, assuring and friendly approach put as at ease. Well, I can say that my hopes were beyond fulfilled. The actual delivery was remarkable. The table setups, coffee, buffet and omelet stations were all done to perfection. Virtually all of the guests raved about the food and the ambiance. Barbara, Jimmy and Deb were always around and busy making sure everything was moving according to plan. When visiting my daughter and her (then) fiance' a couple of months ago, we came here on a very busy Saturday night, and even though we had a reservation, we ended up having to wait a good hour to get seated. Apparently, nobody was willing to leave, so naturally, we had to wait !! The host was very apologetic about it and offered us free drinks. Once we were seated, we ordered some spinach and artichoke dip because we were pretty hungry. That was really good. For dinner, I ordered chicken parmesan. It was pretty good, but it's not the best I've had. It had good cheese to chicken to sauce ratio, but the sauce was a tiny bit lacking in flavor..... it had flavor, just not as much as I would have liked. Still, I did enjoy it. Huge portion, I recall. We booked a private party here during the week and could not have been happier with our experience from start to finish. The pricing was perfect for us as we were looking for more of a cocktail reception instead of a sit down dinner and boy did Mim's deliver. We were able to choose 5 passed hors d'oeuvres which included: the Brie baked pretzel with fig jam, the burrata and pesto crostini, the hamburger sliders, the pulled pork sliders and the fire cracker shrimp. The Brie, burrata and shrimp were clear favorites but the sliders were absolutely delicious too. Our servers were courteous and made sure everyone in the party had a drink in their hand and food by their side. They really went above and beyond to make sure the night went smoothly. My sister first introduced me to Mim's. Now, I've been coming back, almost weekly, with my sister-in-law & best friends! The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing, and the food and drinks are always perfect. We each have our favorite items. Mine are the Burger with cheese and crispy bacon or their Meatloaf with potatoes and vegetables. My favorite appetizer is the pretzel with melted Brie cheese in it. Very enjoyable! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by mim's. I hadn't been in years and I always remembered liking it but it never was on my list of places to go. The menu has a little bit for everyone and the space was big enough to give each table space but not to miss out on the warmth of the restaurant. My favorite part was the place was packed but not loud. We were able to sit and have a conversation. Food was good. We had one issue and the manager came over, apologized and removed the item from our bill. It was very nice and unnecessary. I had the burger and it was great. Tried this place out during Restaurant Week. Overall experience was ok. Upon arrival, they valet parked our car which was an indication of how busy they are. Service: We were sat at a table which was super unstable so we asked the host if we could move and he quickly put us at a better table. Our waitress was constantly coming around and making sure we didn't need anything despite the restaurant being a super busy. In regards to food, I ordered the stuffed artichoke (app), chicken cordon bleu (entree), and coconut flan (dessert). The flan was my absolute favorite part of the meal.
