I loved my experience here! I was really craving the ube churros, but I also really wanted the chicken calamansi, so choosing the Kamayan Sampler was an easy decision. It comes with three ube churros, rice, lechon fries, and fried chicken calamansi. I believe it was around $30 something, which honestly wasn't a bad price at all considering some of the individual items are $20 or more. You get to try several different things, and there's definitely enough food to share, so I thought it was a very affordable option. This was my second visit, and I absolutely loved it! During my first visit, the chef even treated my family and me to a dessert on the house after finding out they were visiting from Texas. That was such a kind gesture and made the experience even more memorable. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again!

I've been hearing all the hype about Mimasa for a while now and it's on my my list to try and finally got around to it on my recent trip. Minasa offers classic and comforting Filipino dishes with an elevated modern twist. It's very cozy with minimal decor but chill homey vibes. The service is great, warm and efficient. The Kare Kare was nostalgic, and tasted authentic like home made. The Calamansi Chicken was topnotch but I wish it had more kick to it. Everything tasted great but still missing the twist. Looking forward to going back and trying other dishes.

I'll never stop raving about this place. Minasa is a restaurant serving a variety of comforting and nostalgic Filipino food -- appetizers, entree, desserts and drinks. The space is cozy and welcoming, with limited amount of seating but ok for holding intimate events. Service is always great, food always comes out fresh and hot, and they always get our orders right. My personal favorites would be: * Kare-Kare (Beef Peanut Stew), which reminds me of my mom's cooking; and * Calamansi fried chicken + noodles, the noodles are very nostalgic for me as it reminds me of my "merienda" (afternoon snack) when I was growing up (in the Philippines). They usually change up their monthly specials (which I always look forward too) so make sure to check out their Instagram page @minasahawaii. Plenty of shared parking space in the shopping complex where it's located (Tropicana Square).

We first heard of Minasa while we were with friends who says it was a modern twist on filipino food we know and love. They talked it up and hyped it up so my wife and I decided to try it out last October for our anniversary. We showed up and they were closed for an event. Since then we've tried to eat here multiple times with it being booked or not open. It's been elusive. Last weekend was the weekend we finally were able to eat here being in Waipahu and the wait finally ended! We ordered the chef's special, salted egg fried rice, ube churros, and banana lumpia sundae. The dishes were colorful and vibrant. Everything tasted good but we were looking for that twist that was hyped up to us and there was nothing unfamiliar to our taste buds. Though we left full and enjoyed our meal, the "new" flavors didn't stand out. Overall we were quite underwhelmed especially with all the hype that was given to us over their food. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Not sure but we'll likely give this a second shot when we're in Waipahu again at the right time.

Always coming hungry and leaving happily full and satisfied. We come back time and time again to try something else on their menu. Every bite is pure bliss You can't go wrong with any order on their menu. We always try their specials. The calamansi refresher is always a craving. Gotta order one while eating and one more for the road. Service is always friendly and so quick. The place is pretty small but we always seem to go at the right time; right after the lunch rush.

My wife and I were on an adventure out to Waikele and decided to stop by Waipahu for lunch. How I found this place, I'm not sure. It might've been the search for fried chicken to which Minasa didn't disappoint. We arrived just after opening and happened to get the last open table - after ordering, of course. The restaurant is clean and well put together with darker accents. Our food came out relatively quick - having the chef's special and ube churros. The kalbi sauce soaking into the rice was the perfect balance of flavors. Same for the calamansi fried chicken. Lechon, I must say was also a fine example of how seriously the chefs take their selection of ingredients - as I looked closer, it had the classic 5 layers (shown in my photo). Usually, this is the prime factor in the perfect roast pork - providing juicy layers of pork meat. Overall, this has been the best (new) meal we've had in a LONG time. It was so delicious, I could only wish there was a way to share this place with a larger collection of diners because frankly, if you haven't tried this place, I honestly think you're missing out on the definition of culinary art. Each dish carefully crafted with the goal of providing the best experience to all the patrons. I seriously seriously hope you all have a chance to visit. If we're ever back on this side of the island, we won't hesitate to stop by.

I picked Minasa for my Birthday Lunch with my Co workers. Im so happy I did. We all waited till Wed. Since that's when they would be open. Tina went to Minasa to order instead of ordering online. Anyway when she got back we finally got to try our lunch. Yum!! Omg its so good we all ordered the Calamansi garlic chicken and the Lechon rice bowl. No one said a word we just kept eating. It was so good. We are planning to go back again!

Located at the end of a strip mall in Waipahu (conveniently near a rail station stop), Minasa is this cute lil unassuming restaurant taking Filipino classics and putting a fun twist on them. Went with a few friends and in true Filipino fashion, ordered a good amount to share. The prices are a bit on the pricier side, but the portions are generous. My favorite was the lechon kawali fries--cubed tender fried pork belly over a bed of crispy fries. Dare I ask for more? The calamansi fried chicken was tender but I wish there was a stronger calamansi flavor. Stole bites of my friend's kalbi and it was reminiscent of tocino, but just a tad too sweet for me. Overall, the food was good and I'd go back to try more dishes. Although it's a cozy spot, they've got a good amount of seating inside if you wanted to dine in. The decor is nice, vibes are chill, and service is quick!

One of my favs! Service is always friendly and efficient! Love the cozy ambience of the place and the food! Creative twist on your fav Filipino foods! If you're in Waipahu stop by. Desserts are pretty awesome too! Place employs culinary students from Waipahu HS. How freakin awesome is that?

This Filipino spot is an absolute must have in Hawaii! I found out about them from a YouTube vlog and so glad we made sure to stop by during our trip. It was one of my favorite meals of the week! I wanted to try everything but we narrowed it down to the lechon fries and the pork sisig bowl. The sisig was cooked perfectly and chopped just to the right size. The calamansi was strong and added so much flavor! I loved the sauce on the lechon fries and the meat was tender. The portions were huge too so we had plenty for leftovers between the two of us - but it's great for family style if you come with a group! The calamansi refresher was just what we needed after a hot afternoon in the sun. We finished off our meal with an ube churro sundae, with the softest chewiest churros ever! So tasty!! Service was great, and they made a point to thank us for coming in while we were eating. The food was on our table in minutes which is awesome when you're dining with kids! The interior is small but we were the only ones there in the afternoon so it was nice and comfortable. The location is a bit hidden so I hope they get the traffic they need to thrive. Would really hate to see this delicious food and talent go to waste! I'll definitely be recommending it to everybody that asks for Oahu recommendations!

    Inside Minasa - modern vibe

My favorite place for a modern fusion on Filipino food. By far the most flavorful Sisig with the calamansi flavor and on point. For the Bao buns, I was able to order one of each (chicken and longanisa) and enjoyed the flavors and textures. The ambiance inside was clean, modern and refreshing. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Service was friendly and quick as I normally do takeout. There is parking but it can be a little tight depending on the time of day. Highly recommend Minasa.

Came in right after work so we could get some Ono grinds and before they close at 4pm. We had the Ube churro sundae. Pretty good and we'll be back to try their other yummy goodness on their menu. Service was fast and friendly. It was cool and love the bench seating and tables. Clean and slick too.

We enjoyed the appetizers, particularly the fried maitake mushrooms that came with aioli. The calamari was crispy on the outside, not too rubbery on the inside, and it came with a delightful lemongrass sauce. The soft shell crab pasta was super rich and creamy, and apparently I was lucky enough to be able to try it (they only had two more orders available for the night)! Portions were extremely generous. The desserts really stood out to me. We had a coconut flan, which was super refreshing. The chicken wings are delicious! Caramelized fish sauce is unique and so good. Their chicken pho is delicious. They use a wider noodle, which I really like. Lots of flavor, lots of dark and white meat too. The wellness mocktail delivered the taste we expected. Gingery and refreshing with just enough bitterness to keep the wellness factor. *Mid-level Delights* include the calamari. It's like a beer batter and served not very crispy. But the pieces were flavorful. The bahn mi was pretty good. The bread was lovely, the sandwich was packed with pate, pork, pickled daikon & carrots. *Missed the Mark*. The roast pork used in the rice plate and bahn mi was dry and a touch salty. They both came with chicharrons that were under seasoned. The mayo and pate on the bahn mi saved the pork. On the rice plate, there was no hiding the dryness. The chicken fat rice was pretty good. The spicy beef noodle soup was not spicy. The broth also lacked depth of flavor. The $10 beef rib was cold and not seasoned. It sure had the appearance of a spicy broth though. No nuoc cham was served with anything. They did a great job remodeling the place. It's nice and clean. The bartender delivered our 1 zero mocktail. Our server was attentive and friendly. Nice, clean unisex restrooms. Maybe today the execution was just a little off. Make a reservation and try something.

The menu has changed to a more tapa style. We went with our two young children & they were very accommodating. We ordered a bunch of stuff but most notable was the Ensalada Salad, Croquette Cordero, Taco Raisu, Karaage Pollo, and for dessert, the Piña Borracha. We ordered some pork and steak skewers. These were ok, I would skip these next time. A little burnt. My favorite was the Ensalada Salad. The crab was sweet and the salsa opaca was so refreshing with the apple foam. Was told to smash the crisp on top and combine it with everything and that took it to another level! So good that we ordered another one. The price of this was so affordable too! The Croquette Cordero was like a mini curry ball with chimuchirri sauce. A little heavy but if you love curry, this is for you! The Taco Raisu surprised us. The taco meat was so flavorful!! Even though we were stuffed, we kept going back for more. It's like a deconstructed taco & you use the lettuce as a wrap. The Karaage Pollo came with a Cucumber Escabeche. It was so tangy and refreshing, which perfectly cuts through the rich, savory oiliness of the fried chicken. We got the Piña Borracha for dessert and that had a coconut cake, coconut lime mousse, banana lilikoi curd, and pasted pineapple on top. Amazing!! Great way to end the night. Even though over half the tables were empty. She said we close in 1 hour and do not have any more openings. No worries , we ended up going to Lei Lei's which was as also on property but a short walk. Super friendly staff and great food. The next morning we decided to try Alaia again for breakfast and asked to sit outside but the same female hostess said it's very difficult to seat 5 outdoors. Note we were the 4th family in line when it opened . We opted for indoors as we thought we would get a round table , but she crammed us in a 4 top anyway. Food was hit or miss. The fresh made omelettes were fantastic. The rice in banana leaf also very good. The bacon was very crispy. The oatmeal dish for $17 came with 7 piece of small berries on top. Also over cooked as it was dry and needed some milk. The Greek yogurt was a bit on the sour side. Breakfast for 5 at over $225 is a bit pricey for the quality IMO. Expected more from the Ritz restaurant. Based on this experience, we ended up going to local food trucks for morning breakfast during our stay.

I used to go here all the time to get my filipino food fix. Unfortunately they closed the Kalihi…read morerestaurant and now have to make the drive out to Waipahu. If you have never been here I highly recommend you trying their filipino food. Portion size is good and worth the money but the main reason you're buying their food is cause it's winnahs. I did take out a few of their menu items. Their special for July is lechon Kawali, pancit, pork gisantes and pork adobo fried rice. It's good to get this or mixed plate with 3 choices. It allows to try more of their menu selections. While one is good 3 or 4 is much better especially if coming here for the very first time. You won't be disappointed. I called in to place my order and it would be twenty minutes which is fine cause that's how long it took me to get there. The food was hot and ready to go. I made sure my ac was off so I can enjoy a nice hot lunch. The place was crowded even at 1pm. People know good food when they eat it. Lots of parking. The lechon Kawali was good. It's nice and meaty with some nice soft fat pieces. Oh so good. Yeah if you are worried about cholesterol then this might not be for you. If not you gonna enjoy it. The pancit is good. The pork gisantes which is more commonly known as pork and peas is really good. It's like stew and you wanna mix your rice with it. If you like eggs over easy then you should have that over your gisantes. It's sooooooo good. Kinda like Loco moco except it's stew. When that yolk breaks and blends in with the gisantes hoo boy. Just really good stuff there. Then the main attraction is their pork adobo fried rice omelet. I believe they were the original restaurant that brought it out. I might be wrong but they make it just right. Every bite is so good especially when you bite into one that has fat in it. Yummy. Yeah not a good choice if you're staying away from cholesterol but if not you're gonna enjoy it. The pork adobo fried rice is not dry like some other places I've tried. Ok I admit i love filipino food. I had to get dinuguan. Chocolate meat. Another winner with rice and really good with over eggs on top of it. Nice tender succulent pieces of pork. Oh my God, it's so good. I also got Shanghai lumpia. This is da bomb. You gotta eat this one hot and fresh. If not it gets stale and soggy so I ate this first. You dip it into vinegar. I like a little heat so I add Tabasco to it. Great with beer. It's so good. I'm missing it already. Then the final dish i got was their sari sari. It's soup with mixed veggies, baby shrimp and lechon. The soup is delicious and comforting. It's great on a cold night or maybe when you're feeling sick. Better than your chicken noodle soup for sure. It's also great remedy for that hangover you got last night. Lol All in all you just gotta try it. Let me know what you got and how good it tasted. Enjoy and thank me later.

Everybody please check your food carefully!! Today 7/16/26 I ordered lechon and was shock ,…read moredisappointed and furious to find pieces of GLASS in our dish!!! I called and made a complaint and all the lady said was , sorry! I asked to speak to the manager or supervisor and she said that they don't have one. WTF! I'm calling the owners tomorrow! My daughter took a bite and started chewing and felt something hard . I'm soo upset!! Update: 7/16/26 Called Melissa the owner to address this issue. She seemed very concerned and worried about my daughter who found it in her mouth. Thank God my 1-1/2 year old grandson didn't swallow it because he was eating it with my daughter!! Sooo dangerous ! Melissa will investigate this. Thanks Melissa. This taught me a lesson , as well as having a phobia . ALWAYS check your food when buying from restaurants or fast food. I Love eating and ordering pans of food at Elena's but I'll be very careful from now on.
