Don't we all have a restaurant or two that never disappoint(s) us no matter when we go? Over the past weekend, I revisited this place, and I have decided that this place has become one of them on my favorite restaurants list. First off, I live in the DTC area so going to a restaurant located in this far west just (in the Denver Metro area) to have a quick bite to eat might not happen very often. If I am not mistaken, my first visit to this place was about a year or so ago when my good friend and I had a chance to visit the nearby quilt museum. We had decided on doing an mid-afternoon cocktail and lunch after the exhibit and I accidentally found this place on Yelp when we were wondering where to go. Both of us really enjoyed this restaurant to say the least. The past weekend (Saturday) was a little outing to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a late morning exercise with my date. After challenging our legs and hearts by climbing up the stairs there, by 12:30pm, we were ready to eat a good lunch!! After driving through the town of Morrison and did not see anything appealing to our eyes, I suggested we go to Golden and find a place to eat. That is when the prior good dining experience at Miners hit me so I told him "I know a good place" so we went there right away. I have to say that this is a hidden place not known by many people as if by the owner's intention or it had to be built this way, the entrance to the restaurant is facing the private alley that connects 11th and 12th so unless you are using am app to locate places to eat in that area, you might easily miss it. The moment we stepped in the restaurant, my date was quite impressed with the interior of the place. "Sit wherever you like" sign at the entrance drew us to a table right by the covered patio area which can be opened up whenever the weather permits. Oh, one thing I shall not forget to mention about this place: this is a dog friendly restaurant where hungry people with their furry friends can dine by sitting at the very patio area. Since the weather was gorgeous outside by mid-afternoon that day , the server opened up the patio area, And of course, this drew several people with their dogs in. I had to order the "build your own bruschetta" as this was absolutely tasty the last time. He wanted the wild game chili; we ordered one entrée to split which was Roast Beef French Dip. Since I wanted my meal experience to be perfect with some light wine (I am usually a red wine drinker though), I had a glass of Mohua (Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand) to accompany it which turned out to be a great choice. His beer (Left Hand Brewery Nitro "Milk Stout") was a great choice as well; if you are into a beer like Guinness, and are looking for something similar/new, I highly recommend this one. Our waitress, who was actually the only waitress during our meal, was busting her bottom serving everyone dining there; there appeared to be a shortage in wait staff during that time. She, however, was so efficient and kept checking up on us to see if we were doing alright. Well, we walked out of the restaurant with extremely full belly and smile as our dining experience was nothing but great. We showed up on July 4th evening around 6pm looking for a couple drinks and some appetizers before the fireworks. Turned out to be an awful experience. Drinks were incredibly slow and half of our food never showed up. Server (Emily Haney) said she didn't hear us order the bruschetta even though she acknowledged the order. Then server proceeds to tell us we can't find anyone to work and are short staffed because "your" president is paying people not to work. I totally understand and agree things are difficult right now, but at least tell us you're short staffed before we sit down and expect our normal dining experience. Instead we got 1 drink each in a matter of an hour and a half. To be honest, I would easily forgive all of the above. One thing I will not forgive is you reaching out to my family via Facebook messenger to complain about the 6$ tip we gave you on a 55$ bill. Finding his name through his credit card receipt. Extremely unprofessional shows you clearly don't deserve a better tip. Walked here after visiting the Coors brewery. Had an old fashion and my girlfriend had a margarita. Both were very good, old fashioned was almost too sweet but still very good and still had a strong bourbon taste. We tried the elk and bison sausage along with a grilled cheese. Everything was very good. Especially the sausages. That being said I honestly could barely taste the difference between bison and elk, they just tasted like very good sausage. I would love to give this place 5 stars because the people seem honest and friendly. All the servers are very friendly and accommodating when you ask for something. I ordered house made ricotta, pretzel bites and grilled cheese (without bacon - does not taste as pleasant). The main thing that gives this review a 3 star is the bathroom. The toilet was atrocious. There were stains in places that seemed like months old and it was probably the worst bathroom I have used. What saved it was the friendlyness of my waitress. As they say, the cleanliness of the bathroom is a reflection of the cleanliness behind the scenes in kitchen and food prep area- tho I am hoping it's not the case. And everyone was pretty nice but every single time there was just something missing from the total package of service. When taking leftovers to go, I had to ask for containers for soup, and dips and ricotta, a bag to carry the items, for cup of water. And utensils, napkins were completely forgotten - given this is a tourist area, we re most likely going back to our hotels so these should be provided or atleast asked about. The bourbon drink I got was also kind of mediocre, I asked for either bartenders choice for bourbon apple and cinnamon and they said they have a drink they can twist to my likes. But it was not great either, the drink had apple bitters, and they removed the orange liqour upon my request since they said they'll just do the drink. But I thought as a bartender you'd know to compensate that with something else since you're using a specific mix that results in a balanced drink. read more

I actually had low expectations before entering the restaurant. In fact, my expectations were in the negative numbers because of how teeny their menu seemed to be and how the exterior seems to be. So imagine my happiness when I found out that their paninis tasted like heaven in every bite. I regret not trying out their cheeseboard since I had a bad experience with one recently. I assume it's good since we ordered a sausage charcuterie board and it was almost as romantically delightful as a cheeseboard. I definitely will come back in the future. read more

First of all the town of Golden CO is the cutest town ever!! We grabbed a seat off the main strip at the Miners Saloon. There wasn't a ton of seating and the food menu was smaller but don't be put off by that. The food was delicious! We had the turkey melt and chips and the bison beer brat. Both were great! No fries or fried sides but the coleslaw was good and the pickled veggies were amazing! Give this little place a try you will love it! read more

We came here after hiking on a very hot day. The temperature control isn't great but the staff are very friendly! If you like a more relaxed vibe, this is your place. Great place for dinner in Golden. We went on a Sunday night when an art festival was going on. Traffic and parking was crazy. But when we found our way down the alley with the saloon it was far more laid back. We were a little anxious about taking the kids but it was early enough and they have a nice kids menu too. They serve mostly easy food and snacks. Stuff like hot dogs and french dip sandwiches. We had both those and bratwurst and a kids grilled cheese. All were really well made and affordable. They have nice upscale touches like house made mustard. But really it was just a good easy meal. Drinks were great too and thats really the focus of the saloon, surprise. I had the miners old fashioned. Im an old fashioned guy so it was good. They serve it with a piece of bacon as the garnish. We also had the candied bacon starter. That was crazy good. Great drinks and attentive waitstaff. Went here on a date, and it didn't disappoint. The vegetable plate was loaded with yummy fresh veggies and very good hummus and pesto. The bruschetta was also delightful! Nice balance of pesto and ricotta along with those fresh veggies! Yummm! The grilled cheese was a bit lacking, however. The toast was absolutely perfect, but it was supposed to have cheddar, Wisconsin cheese curds, and pimento cheese and bacon. That sounded incredible to my date from Wisconsin. The cheese was very lacking, though. We opened it up, and we had mostly bread and bacon with a super thin layer of cheddar and maybe some pimento, didn't see and cheese curds. We both live a good grilled cheese and expected to have it stretching out after every bite, but alas, no such luck. I'll definitely be back, but no grilled cheese. We absolutely loved this place! We just ate a bunch of appetizers and had a cocktail for lunch. The sausages elk & bison sausages were on point. The accoutrements were excellent. The jalepeno pretzel was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the I side. Pickled strawberries? Who knew they were so tasty! We stumbled upon this place about a month ago and I have been meaning to review it. The atmosphere is very western, which really fits nicely with the Golden theme. My husband and I had just finished a couple of hikes and were thirsty for a beer. They have a wide array of choices to choose from so we really happy. They also had a fun menu. We ordered their charcuterie board and a vegetable plate. Their charcuterie board had all of the bells and whistles on it that made us very satisfied. My favorite was the vegetable plate that came with several dips. They present large fresh vegetables in a bowl, which was so unexpected and perfect after a long day in the woods. We went here for a dinner date, and had a great time. I love how it opens up in back and you can sit inside but look out on the mountain. The food was really good: I had the au jus roast beef sandwich and my partner had the turkey melt with added bacon. Everything tasted great, including the pear cider. The roast beef sandwich had toasted bread and tasted great with the au jus, which arrived hot. Great ambiance, awesome service, and good food and drink. I could not stop eating! Everything here is homemade. They are known for their sausages so we had to try them, wild boar and elk with their pickled fruits and vegetables. I never order sausages (seem fatty, not these), these were exceptional. Pure flavor, made and cooked to perfection. The lime and salt pig rinds, NEVER order those, but we did and OH MY GOSH. I got some to go. Could not stop eating them. The French dip was perfect. Tomato soup, pure tomato and flavor. The slaw and lentil salad, best ever and again, normally don't do slaw. They made every single dish beyond good. They make everything here from scratch, even the crackers!! So good. I want to try their whole menu. If yelp had 6 stars, this place would get it! As a lady who appreciates mountain towns but ALSO appreciates a cheeseboard and a glass of rosé, Miners Saloon seemed like the perfect combo on a recent afternoon in Golden. This spot is in a bright and sunny alleyway right off of the main drag and seems like one of THE places to go on a weekend. We arrived and claimed the last two spots at the bar--a very Colorado-looking bar, I might add. The bar itself looks to be made of petrified wood and is complemented by miner's lamps, televisions for watching the game, and lots and lots of whiskey. The menu here is fancier than I would've expected for this mountain joint--expect top notch charcuterie boards, kale and lentil salads, warm peach tarts, and the like. I ordered a glass of rosé (surprise, surprise) that turned out a little sweeter than I like, but okay nonetheless. I also ordered the house made sausage board with the boar sausage. The presentation was interesting--it came out on a chipped plate and it was basically a sausage covered in a giant flatbread cracker. They forgot the mustards that come along with it and our server left our water glasses empty for about ten minutes until we asked for them to be refilled. I think this place has potential for me to love it as a weeknight date spot. The weekend crowd and distracted staff made this an a-okay experience for me, but I think Miners Saloon could be great on the right night with the right order. read more

I have been coming to miners for over 4 years. It has gone down hill ever win the 1st time I have came. My beer was flat, my wife's drink had dead fruit flys in it. The cheese and meat plater had 1 meat on it that was clearly bad and smelt awful, it was brown. I can not believe it was served to us. The dog was good, the French dip was not that great. It use to be the service sucked here but the food was great. Now the food is matching the service. Both awful, employees are to busy drinking and eating behind the bar to care about its customers.
