Honestly, in the Midwest, it is always so difficult to find soups that either don't have meat or don't have milk/cream. And you want flavor with whatever soup you end up finding? Forget about it! Miner's was the answer to my prayers, and everything I'd hoped Colorado would bestow upon my taste buds. I love the space! The ambiance is really cool! Miners Saloon looks just like a saloon. It was a super cute find in Golden! I came here in a group of 6 and we were seated right away on a Sunday afternoon. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet. I was not overly hungry so I got the Caprese salad with chicken. It was very good! The candied peaches made for a really yummy/tangy taste. The food at the rest of the table looked very good though (I wish I had been more hungry). Two people got the grilled cheese and that looked REALLY good - lots of cheese and bacon - YUM! My dad got the Chicago hotdog and that looked really great too! read more

After a couple flops while exploring downtown Golden, we finally came across Miners Saloon (thank you Yelp!) and my faith in my new city was restored. The best description I can give of the Miners Saloon is that I soon as I walked in, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of "this is my new spot." Beginning with the dog friendly patio, I was continually impressed with the great service, extensive drink and cocktail menu (neither the marg nor the mule will disappoint), and the refreshingly brief food menu (clearly they have their priorities straight ). We ordered the bison beer brat to have with our drinks and it was delicious and a surprisingly generous amount of food for $8, including a house made sausage, a bread/cracker thing (??) and a variety of pickled sides. I cannot recommend this place enough! First of all, we sat at the bar today and it was extremely busy! Our server, Casey was above and beyond with service and friendliness. What a score! Looking for some regional food while traveling and this place stood out. Had the chopped salad which was both huge and delicious. Crunchy, savory, and sweet. The spicy pork green chili stew was by far the star. The pork was tender, freshly roasted green chilies, and perfectly spiced. If you don't like spicy, don't get it. It was a great place to try, but I think it's a little expensive for what you get. We started out with charcuterie and cheese board. My fave was the burrata. Very soft and creamy. I had the grilled cheese and it was good, but I'm not sure that it was $11 good. And, I thought maybe it would come with homemade chips for the cost, but no I got a bag of chips. Hubby got the french dip and it was good, but not sure it was worth the $14 we paid. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and the staff is great, but you seem to pay for the ambiance. Praise and accolades seem to be exactly the opposite of what this establishment is looking for in regards to the service performed by their team. From the latent laziness lurking behind the temperament of the bartender wearing what seems to be a tactical military vest, to the unadulterated "perhaps I'll get to you" attitude of those that work under the same stocky blonde bartender (from his utter intolerance for customer service I can only assume he's an owner willing to fail in order to prove to everyone that he's in charge and he will do it his way), this place will continue to be vacant on Tuesday nights at 6pm because the faces of those that work there scream "seriously, we're about to close". If it weren't for the Kale Salad, I don't think I would go back...but for the love of all that is good in this world, that salad is good. Seriously though, the customer service is horrific at best, but, the food is amazing. Its a shame they cant pair a smile with the food they boast. read more

Wish I could tell you how good this place was, but wasn't given the chance. This place came as a recommendation from a friend so we thought we'd give it a shot. Walked in at 8:15pm on Sunday night. We were brought a drink menu & then I asked for a food menu. As if we had had killed their puppy, he sighs, looks us up & down, looks at the clock, looks at the kitchen, then replies with "we just took the last order." I asked what time they closed, to confirm what the door said, which was 9pm. If the kitchen closes unreasonably early, post it on the door, change your website, do something. Disappointing. So I'm sitting here at the bar listening to my friend Paul Frost sing and the barista Laura gave someone their to go order. They asked if napkins were inside he bag and Laura told them that their saloon doesn't carry paper napkins. OMG the spoiled entitled young "man " and I use that term loosely blew a gasket stating that they really needed them. So Laura's quick thinking went next door to a neighbor saloon and brought some over. I told Laura, girl you went way over with that guy. I would have handed him a cloth napkin and call it a day. Just goes to show people like Laura loves her job and wants the customers leaving happy. Point in case I told her a wrong drink order thinking that it included bacon but it didn't so she gave me one. The green chili I ordered was excellent. Sadly the old fashioned I got wasn't what I'm used to getting at the state saloon which is now defunct.
