Ate at Minerva's last Saturday night with some friends. Got seated right away as we had reservations. Have been here before and thought it was good, not excellent, not bad but good, hearty and wholesome. I wanted the chicken schnitzel which isn't on the menu anymore but the chef was able to make it for me and it was delicious. The thing that turned me off right away was the tomato boccochini which we ordered for an appetizer. The $13.50 appetizer was very small. 4 slices of tomato and 3 of cheese. My husband and I shared it but it was definitely overpriced for the serving. We have done that in many other restaurants and EACH gotten at least three large and thick slices of tomato and three large pieces of cheese. Would definitely not order it again. However the rest of theme was good. read more

Such a wonderful family owned and run business! Consistently great food and friendly staff. Fresh ingredients, ice cold beer (ver important) and a great selection of wine. Whenever we are in town we make a point of having dinner at least once or twice at Minerva's. I'm glad I made reservations for a party of 6. It was quite busy there on a Friday evening. As others reviewed, the service was great and the food was full of flavour. One thing I would have thought they could have done was bring out the pita bread and tzaziki sauce prior to waiting for the meals to come out. Understandable that it was really busy so we had to wait quite a bit for it to come. It was worth the wait. The calamari was fresh and crispy, not greasy at all. And the roast lamb just fell off the bone. Mmm... Will definite go back and try other dishes! read more

By FAR the BEST Greek in Vancouver. It's interesting what reviews do, much of it is based on geography or proximity and also marketing by the restaurant. If there is one thing I know, it is Greek food and Greece, and this place is absolutely the best. The lamb shoulder is what you should try. It is marinated, brined, so flavourful. The saltiness of the lamb accents so well with the plain rice and sour lemon potatoes. The BBQ is great. It is very much what the Greeks would in fact do - get a BBQ going if they can. Great value and they don't rip you off if you do take out. I ordered here by accident! So glad I did. read more

This place is always great. Classic homemade Greek style food. The one dish that is just incredibly delicious that I've been getting here for years is the spaghetti with meat sauce! It looks like your average meat sauce but it had this incredible depth, there may even be a hint of cinnamon in it? Also their souvlaki is great. read more

I have been coming to this FABULOUS , YUMMY restaurant for years. Honestly, I have never had a bad meal. The service is fantastic and I love that this is family run restaurant rather than the other repetitive crap thats rests itself all over Vancouver. Cactus...Milestones and so on. Disappointing meal. Greek salad was tasteless and mindlessly over-oiled. Chicken souvlaki was dry, rice had nice flavour but was chewy. Potatoes a little overdone. Calamari was mushy. Their New York steak and spaghetti are the best. For the spaghetti, I personally prefer meat sauce and steam. Do not order baked spaghetti; it is too salty, at least for my taste. Another choice would be the baby rib. It is delicious as well. read more

I ordered the fettucini alfredo and added shrimp for $5. The fettucini alfredo was quite good however the tiny shrimp were very salty. I had expected the shrimp to be much larger so that was my first disappointment but the saltiness pretty much ruined the dish and I was unable to finish. Lived in or near Kerrisdale my entire life and this restaurant was always a go to. The food and the service remained consistent and always appreciated having a quaint neighborhood joint with revolving door of regulars and neighbors alike. This 3 star review is purely based on value. I believe they recently raised their prices and Souvlaki cost $20+. Albeit the food was good, but can meat in a stick and some starch justify the cost of $20?! It's a shame that dinner for 2 can reach $60 at a neighborhood place. read more

We have ordered delivery from here for years. The food is good: home-cooked Greek, and tasty pizza. However, tonight we ate in, and the waitress clearly was not a happy soul. She was cold, rarely came to our table, and certainly didn't smile or anything when we tried to engage. When we paid the bill, I tried to tip $20.00 via the debit machine. Unfortunately the zeroes did not go through, so it accidentally tipped her 20 cents. She looked right at me and said, "Did you actually MEAN to tip only 20 cents???"...clearly angry. I was flustered and embarrassed and said "No! Can we delete the transaction and let me re-do it?". Her response was a sarcastic "No. Just leave it." She walked away and never returned to our table. I was so embarrassed! We scrambled (as a group) to get cash together for a tip to leave on the table, but she wouldn't even say good night to us as we left. Had been looking forward to this delivery, a special gift from a relative. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed, having remembered how good this place used to be. Lamb Souvlaki was dry and tough, Ceasar Salad was awful, and the Lasagna had some undefined sauce that made it impossible to eat. Rice Pilaf was dry and unappetizing. I went here tonight with my fiancé and we both got the Fettuccine Alfredo. It was not good at all. I ate maybe a quarter of mine. It had no flavor whatsoever, it was just really rich, salty, white cream sauce and mushy noodles, and with added chicken cost $20. I do not recommend getting their pasta. They didn't even have real parmesan cheese, just that preheated stuff in a shaker, which always tastes terrible. However, I will go back and try their salads, since my fiancé was very excited about finding this place for some reason. read more

Been here a few times, usually pretty good, though the last outing wasn't up to their generally good standards. Got a $60 steak that had a lot more gristle in it than there should have been at this price, plus the Rare that I asked for was pretty much Blue when served.Still good but a bit too raw for my liking. Majority of the staff nice, but the guy who first answers the phone when calling could brush up on his people skills, second guy who took reservation quite personable. It can also get pretty noisy in there. Don't know if I'll be back, there are lots of restaraunts in this town a lot closer to me then this one in Kerrisdale. Time will tell I guess... read more

This restaurant caters to the 60+ crowd, so is packed between the hours of 5:30 and 7:30, but dead by 8. The food is consistently great and the service is good. I highly recommend the BBQ ribs or the Moussaka. The pizza is fantastic. The wine list is quite good as well. Prices range from around $15-$25 for an entree (which comes with a soup or salad starter), something like $7 for dessert. Perfect place to take your grandma for dinner, but not the type of place you'd visit to impress a date! read more

I have been coming here for years and years. I hate to say it but I think it's going slightly downhill. Everything has gone up in price so much since the last time I visited, like the lasagna and souvlaki. The serving sizes however are getting smaller, perfect example is the garlic bread. I ordered delivery on New Years Eve. I ordered a large Minerva' special. The pizza was so soggy I couldn't even pick it up. I had to eat the pizza with a fork and knife with my girlfriend. We ordered from here to have a nice, supposed to be high quality, pizza. Won't be ordering pizza from here again. We only love blocks away and the pizza was still hot. I don't get it! read more

Tasty food with a variety of things on their menu. This is a good place to go if your party can't agree among themselves on what to eat. This menu has something for everyone -- Greek, Italian, steaks/ribs, pizza, and good salads. We were staying in the Dunbar area and wanted someplace close. I had the ribs and they were delish. Second time visiting here and brought my man for the first time: both of us had a great experience! Delicious food in a casual, comfortable, cozy environment. Our server was great and the food was delicious, with good portion sizes. Many other options in Vancouver available for cheaper comparable dishes, along with alternatives throughout the city for more elegant, high-end similar styles, but we were very happy and would recommend this to anyone. This is a great little neighbourhood place to eat. However, being in Kerrisdale, the wealthiest area of Vancouver, the prices for this little eatery are not cheap. You'll have to park at a meter on the street. $2.00 per 45 minutes. The place was full with lots of blue hairs and some families. They put 9 of us at a table that should have sat 8, although they did get us in right away at 6 on a Saturday evening, and the resteraunt was packed. Run by Greeks serving lots of Italian and some Greek-ish food. There were lots of pasta dishes, pizza's, steaks and of coarse some lamb dishes. The asparagas soup was pretty good. 3 of the kids in our group loved it. The ceasar salad was loaded with garlic, as it should be! The lamb was out of this world. The spaghatti with meat sauce was good, although my husband thought it wasn't meaty enough. I had 2 crantinis. The first one was great, the second one, well it really wasn't the same drink and I didn't finish it. Too much cran. The wait staff were friendly and professional. read more

Got take out for dinner here tonight. I had the mushroom ravioli and my husband had the baked spaghetti. My husbands order was huge and was nice in flavor. Mine was a much smaller portion but tasty. I was expecting pieces of pancetta in the meal as it says it was a Gorgonzola and pancetta cream sauce but got none. We also ordered a carrot cake and cheese cake. We thoroughly enjoyed the carrot cake and would go back for it again. The cheese cake was also good but nothing to write home about. All in all it was a good first experience. The prices were a bit steep for what it was in my opinion, seeing as there are other places with the same prices that come with larger portions with no loss in quality or flavor. That being said I'm curious on how the Greek portion of their menu will compare to others in the city, so we will be returning for that. read more

Great greek food! The pizza is on the heavy/greasy side though, and the pasta is nothing special.

Overall it's a great place. The calamari was on point and the lamb was delicious. Went in a large group and everyone left very satisfied.

Great family resaurant, I try to stop by everytime I am in town, my parents would take me as a kid probably some 30 years ago when it was this narrow little hallway, before it expanded. Good food and nice serving staff. pleasant place the whole family can enjoy a good meal. read more

Over the years we have either gone to Minerva's for a dine-in meal or ordered for delivery. Recently our daughter got us a gift certificate so we ordered prawn and lamb souvlaki and chicken strips. Everything was very delicious and fresh (seafood should not be smelly and it wasn't!) I felt they gave a very generous portion for the price we paid and for the quality of the meal--excellent. We are grateful to have a family owned and run business in our community and really hope it will stay for another 40 years! The variety of food options is fantastic--our daughter loves the lasagna, grandson the chicken strips, all the souvlakis are great, the ribs are tasty and the list goes on. Thank you to the Minerva owners and the staff for consistently good food and service and creating such an inviting space in our community to gather, to wine and dine, and to laugh and share with each other!
