My partner and I stopped by Ming's BBQ at 9:10 PM, about 50 minutes before closing, and still had a really pleasant experience. There were only 3 other tables enjoying their dinner besides us. We ordered two waters and a plate with roasted pork and honey BBQ pork over rice with bok choy. The menu didn't list a price for the combo, so we asked the server/cashier beforehand, and he let us know it would be $14.95 after tax, which we appreciated. The food came out in about 10-15 minutes, fresh and hot. The roasted pork and honey BBQ pork were both tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced -- not overly salty, not too fatty, just really well-prepared. The honey BBQ pork had a slightly caramelized glaze with a smoky sweetness, while the roasted pork had a nice savory depth and crispy edges. The bok choy was fresh and cooked just right, adding a nice crunch and balance to the plate. The rice soaked up all the juices really well and tied everything together. Even coming in later at night, the service was straightforward and efficient, and the quality of the food definitely stood out. Solid portion size, comforting meal, and definitely worth coming back for if you're craving classic Cantonese-style BBQ. I've visited here twice and both times were great. Dine-in service is really fast, their menu is extensive and the food is very flavorful and filling. We've left with leftovers both times as a family of 3. Their sesame chicken is crunchy and sweet and what I love most about it is how small they chop the chicken. The menu is a bit overwhelming to look at but I like the fact that they have pictures on the menu of what the dishes look like. When I come here, I usually order a dish with duck so I ordered the crispy pork and duck over rice and my friend ordered the duck with tofu over rice. My dish was good but my friend's dish was even better! I would definitely recommend the duck and tofu over rice. They stir fried the duck and tofu in a flavorful sauce. I didn't mind the duck skin not being crispy but if you want crispy duck skin, then I would order something else. This restaurant used to be my go to spot for Cantonese food (especially for the roasted duck and crispy pork) but after the last few visits, I've been quite disappointed. The service has went down. The food was ok, but still not the same as before. I'm not sure if owner and/or chef has changed ? Also, they used to not charge for rice if you ordered a meat dish but now they do BUT the servers insisted that they never did that and we were just making that up..... which made us upset. Having lived in Seattle for nearly two decades, I've been looking for a Chinese restaurant that could deliver like the restaurants in Seattles Chinatown. Ming's BBQ is that spot! I've been coming to Mings bbq with my family ever since they first opened. Today I got their roast duck noodles and it was perfect. I love the huge portion and how much duck they give you. My favorite part of the dish actually was the noodles. They were perfectly chewy and not too soft at all. Al dente so to speak :) The broth was delicious as well and it was so much food that I ended up taking some home. This location is better than the one in Asian Square in my opinion. Not only is the decors and upgrades nicer, service is way better and they accept credit cards! For this I wanted to give 4 stars but keep reading... I got the char siu and duck with rice and veggies (bak Choy) for $10.95 plus tax. It's just a little bit higher than what I'm used to paying for 2 meats and rice but only by $1 or $2. The food got 3 stars for me. I got mostly bone and gristle with my duck and it was also not packed full of flavor. The char siu was good but a little bit dry or seemed to be older than freshly made. I got a ton of rice in the bottom, it looked like it was a filler just to make the plate look big and the bak choy was fine. Service was nice and you sit where you like and they take your order and give you a cup of complimentary hot tea. I noticed the Asian customers got hot tea however the Americans did not and I didn't like that as everyone should have been treated equal. This kept me at a 3 star for this place. I have been dining here for years and would have previously have given a 5-star review, but my experience here on 10/28/22 has changed everything. I brought my extended family, including my 87 yr old mother, and we ordered many dishes to share. The first thing I always order is the crispy pork as an appetizer to share and when it arrived it was anything but crispy, but a soggy, chewy mess. I should have stopped there, but we did not. Our party of 8 continued to eat and everything seemed off. From small portions of protein in the dishes to ruder than normal service. However, the main reason for this poor review is because 5 of the 8 of us ate the Beef Chow Fun and all 5 came down with salmonella, as diagnosed by a doctor. We were all sick for a week. Posting this review is not something I want to do, but people need to know eating here is dangerous. I took my concerns to the manager yesterday and refused to reimburse us for the $300 we spent. When I got in, I could tell they were a bit understaffed bc almost all the tables were not bussed and full of dishes. They definitely give you a great portion. I did the 3 meat combo with rice and Chinese greens. For me I like a good portion of fat and skin on my crispy pork but I got a lot of super lean pieces and they were a bit dry. The soy chicken was really flavorful but a lot of small bones that I bit into, and the roasted duck was also quite tasty. I didn't enjoy the chili oil they had as much as other places but overall I did enjoy the food and I had some leftover to eat for lunch the next day. The inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious. No frills in terms of decor. I've seen customers dine in by themselves for lunch while watching a show on their cell phone, which made me comfortable enough to start doing the same without feeling awkward lol. As soon as you walk in the sign says you can seat yourself. This place is pretty chill. They have a picture menu with their popular food items and a more extensive menu with all their food items. Prices are super affordable. You can get fried rice, rice dishes, noodle dishes, noodle soups, congee, and more easily for $7-$11. Their family styled entrees tend to be the more pricier items and even those are $13-$14, unless you opt for items like a whole fish which will be more expensive. They offer rice plates (perfect for lunch or takeout) which include bbq, rice, and green vegetables for $8. That's an awesome deal. You can get a rice plate with two types of bbq for $10. I haven't had much here, but so far I've tried: - Salt & Pepper Tofu - Chicken Congee - Soy Sauce Chicken BBQ Rice Plate - Fish Fillet w/ Black Bean Sauce Salt & Pepper Tofu - Delicious, crispy, salty, and fried-to-perfection. The sauce gets absorbed into the rice which makes the rice that much tastier. I generally try not to eat too much rice but the sauce coating the rice just makes it so addicting. The green vegetables are a nice addition to the dish. Overall this rice plate is very filling. Fish Fillet w/ Black Bean Sauce: Yummy. Can't go wrong with black bean sauce. I've enjoyed all the food I've had so far and would like to try more dishes. The portions here are good. Service was great, the servers were so kind and nice.
