I am very disappointed with the service I received at Mini of Rochester (New York). I brought my 2003 Mini S JCW in to the shop because I was concerned that the engine might have overheated for a minute or so and I wanted them to check the radiator thermostat to see if it was working correctly. I also needed them to address a problem with the power door locks. They indicated that there was nothing wrong with the thermostat, but that the radiator fluid might have been compromised. Close to 2 months later, and over $4,500 poorer, I got my car back from the service station. They upsold me on a need to replace the oil pan gasket, which was the bulk of the charge. I didn't see any issue with oil leakage or loss to justify this, but went with their recommendations since they were the experts. They also damaged the oil pressure sensor during the repair and couldn't figure out how to fix it (we compromised on them installing an external oil pressure gauge, which I had to purchase). I now found out that they also damaged the wheel speed sensor (which per a repudiable outside shop showed signs of being removed and reinstalled with a pliers). This has resulted in the classic "Mini Trifecta", and has cost me an additional $400 to get repaired. I was afraid to bring my car back to the Mini Dealership for repair after the last mess they made. Now I know why my brother in law (who also drives a Mini) drives an additional 100 miles one way to get to Buffalo to have them work on his. As my Mini is starting to get old I was considering getting a new one. With this kind of local support I certainly can't justify that. read more

The most unprofessional dealership my partner and I have ever worked with. We have purchased and leased vehicles from a dozen or more dealerships over the years and MINI of Rochester is the only one we'd never return to. After several years with the our first Mini, we looked to acquire another Clubman, but the sales tactics used against us were overtly predatory, especially for someone that was already a customer. This included withholding information from us, like equity in our vehicle, until we signed an agreement and gave them a down payment for a new vehicle. They told us that they could inform us of the equity only when we came to pick up the vehicle in several weeks to several months. We asked several times for them to at least provide a range, and they refused. This pushed us to look elsewhere for a vehicle, and no other local dealers put us through that during the process. BMW of Rochester, Audi of Rochester, Ide Volkswagon, and others, were all wonderful to deal with and were very transparent about the entire process and the costs involved. We decided to not pursue another transaction with Mini of Rochester due to this experience. We did however turn the vehicle in to them, and when we did this, they agreed to cover the disposition cost, as a courtesy, as we were 15k miles under the lease agreement. It was our fault for not getting this in writing, as we've now received a bill from Mini Financial for the cost of the disposition, as the dealership never paid it. The dealership has now admitted that there was a miscommunication on their end and that they would no longer be covering the disposition costs. So we are left footing the bill due to their mix-up, which is inappropriate at best. Our experience with multiple salespersons, managers, and customer service representatives at Mini of Rochester have all exhibited a complete lack of care for their customers. If you're looking for a Mini in the WNY area, you'd do yourself a favor by heading to Mini of Buffalo instead. read more

We live full-time in our motor home and our Minis clutch went out. We were staying near Watkins Glenn at the time. After calling Michael at Mini of Rochester he got us an appointment and we got the Mini to him the week before Labor Day. They were able to get the clutch replaced by that Friday even though the parts distribution center was having problems with Covid. They went over and above to make this happen. If you own a Mini near Rochester definitely have your work done here, they were outstanding. read more

The last few times I've had my car serviced my car was not detailed. It was customary that when you brought your car in it would be vacuumed and washed. Unfortunately some times it's washed only and the inside still is untouched. I can understand if occasionally they are short on time but when the car is there 24 hours its unacceptable. And sometimes I'm even unsure it's been washed. Also the run flat tires on the Mini have been more of a nuisance than help. I have had this lease 20 months. In that time frame I have had the run flat tire replaced three times. The most recently was Monday 7/16/18. And the rim needed to be replaced as well. Pretty expensive upkeep at over a $700 bill. The service manager is going to see if the tire manufacturer will give a partial credit. I know we have accidentally had issues because of pot holes but three times? I feel these are inferior because of the run flat feature even though It's been explained they are actually a thicker tire. This is our second Mini and with that said I never had an issue with the non run flat tires that were on that vehicle and both were low profile tires. Thirdly the towing service they use for Roadside Assistance is horrible. The woman who answered was short and felt she was annoyed, they never gave updates except a text that was incorrectly stating they were on time when they already missed the first expected pick up time by over an hour. Action Automotive and Towings only saving grace was the young man who picked up and towed our vehicle. In closing we love our Mini but not those tires. After dreaming about owning a MINI, I came in to MINI of Rochester and was immediately impressed with the customer service. Anyone who offers coffee before talking $ gets 5 stars from me! Ashley listened to what I was looking for, showed me a few cars and took a few test drives. She was very patient as I made the big decision and was super helpful getting me set up with my new car and on the road. She sends me lovely birthday cards each year too! I always bring Kermit in for service to the MINI service dept and everyone is so friendly and helpful whenever I need anything. And are very, very accommodating when my run flats go flat - Kermit is always back on the road within a few hours of my desperate call for help. Not only do they have snacks and drinks in the waiting room, there's also a co-pilot water bowl for when Snowball joins me, and they offer her treats too. read more

brought my mini country man in for timing belt problem. After 4 weeks and a bill now at $6000 (six thousand plus dollars) they still cant fix it. But they will offer me 5k for the car that was worth 15k before i brought it to them. At no point in this process am I called with updates. I have to call them over and over to get info on what is going on. I asked for appraisal early on since I was looking to trade in anyway and NO one got back to me for appraisal until the told me that they couldn't fix it and didn't know why or what was wrong. THEN they say they will give me 5k for what had been a 15k value. so essentially I have to pay them 1k to take my car from me. and I am now out 16 thousand dollars. 23 hours of labor they say , at 150 per hour. 23 HOURS of labor and no answers just 6 thousand dollars of bills and a worthless vehicle. Perhaps our expectations have been set too high. We have called 5 times as we live quite a distance from dealership as we will be in town.Simple request to have factory service performed. They Never answer phones and never return calls. Have even left a message with Manager of dealership. NO RESPONSE!! And dealerships wonder why the Mini brand is struggling!! Mini Cooper drivers beware, this dealership is not the place for an inspection. They were nice people but the service was awful, a 15 minute car inspection took 3 hours. We waited in the dealership for the car for an hour and a half, we kept asking about they car and how much longer we would have to wait and they were saying 15 more minutes, which led into an hour and then a half an hour more. We are not happy that we waisted a good amount of the day sitting in a dealership when we could have been in and out then on with the day. We had just bought the car a year back and they said our breaks were 60% gone! We bought the car BRAND NEW, plus we have barely driven the car because we put it away in the winter or on rainy days to preserve the car to the best of our ability's. And you come to tell me that the brakes are 60% gone?! I will not recommend this place to you or any of my fellow Mini Cooper owners. Nice people but the service is quite awful. read more

The salesperson (Ed Cain) and manager were both extremely helpful and went out of there way to make it as easy as possible without trying to pressure me in any way. Two stars only because I love my car. Didn't feel like they wanted to sell me my car and short of actually telling me "no" did the bare minimum to get the sale done. I came in with my own financing set up and extended warranty through my own bank and that may have been the reason they didn't want the sale. I purchased my first MINI in April 2015. Always wanted a MINI. What a unique and fun experience working with Allan Lesser at MINI of Rochester. I had no idea buying a car could be fun, upbeat and exciting. I am a car guy and the crew at MINI sales all seem to love cars but especially MINIs. I noticed that they all drive MINIs for their personal use and some have multiple MINIs in one household. The personal attention and no haggle pricing was a pleasure. We ordered our own unique combination of options and colors and waited anxiously for the delivery. Allan helped us with every step in determining the best features and options for our personal desires and needs and offered a great finance plan. We did multiple test drives with different family members and it felt like an outing to a friends playground of MINIs to try out. Who does that in the car business today? No pressure here. Just get into the MINI thing and motor as they say at MINI because it is a "Thing". We even got emails from Allan with updates about every step of the journey from the order to the car to being on the assembly line today, now in the paint room and then on the ship to the terminal in NJ and finally arriving in Rochester. It was the most unique customer experience I have had and I am into that differential when I am considering a big investment like a car. We love our new MINI S 5 door. We get lots of looks since all MINIs are unique. Hard to find two exactly the same on the road.
