Good food, good service but kinda pricey in comparison to other local thai restaurants

We arrived relatively early for lunch on a Saturday. The Thai female owner, Toi, greeted us. My wife ordered the chicken larb, which she ordered "very hot", and it was quite nice. I had the spicy duck, which also was delicious. Singha Beer is available. Very pleasant experience! Parking behind the restaurant is accessed through a driveway from the street. Toi is a delightful, hard-working lady who has put her children through college on her own. This was our first visit, but we hope to return soon. read more

I love the food here. It tastes fresh and my favorite is the coconut pineapple shrimp soup. But on many occasions we've gotten a very rude waiter. My father won't come here anymore because of how rude they were to him. I've caught them on a good day and it's fine. Food is excellent! Service and courtesy really needs to be improved. read more

I don't remember exactly what I ordered because this visit was about 3 weeks ago but it was on the specials menu... Name had the words "3 Kings" in it. It was fried squares of pork belly, some very well prepared duck, and i forget what the 3rd king was. Came with small bit of white rice. Overall, good dish to order but I felt the pork belly was not the best I have ever had. Very dry actually; perhaps cooked too long. read more

Came here for lunch and it seemed like all the waitresses where on some strong coffee or another caffeinated beverage. They seemed to be literally screening at me as they took my order. I am sure they were not intending to be mean to me because they we talking to all costumers the same way. It just made for a very uncomfortable lunch and caused some serious acid indigestion. They need to work on their interpersonal skills and learn how to speak more pleasantly. There is a way to say "Have a nice day" and actually make someone feel like you really mean it. read more

Do not eat here if sensitive to msg. We ate here and had tom yum, egg rolls, larb salad and pad Thai. All things I normally order at any Thai restaurant. First off the service was terrible. Didn't get asked what we wanted to drink until after we had to flag our waitress down. Food flavor was nothing spectacular, but the hours after I was in pain. Had the worst stomach pain I've ever had after eating Thai. I'm very sensitive to MSG and this food killed my stomach. Being balled up on the floor crying holding my stomach all night is not a way I would spend my night ever again.. So with that being said it was my first time here and definitely my last ever. I don't ever want to have that guy wrenching feeling ever again. The food was not worth it, not to mention over priced for quality. read more

I ordered take out chicken Tom yum with a side of steamed thin noodles, when i got there- they showed me the noodles and they were thick- I asked for it to be changed and was told they never had thin (ok, not that big a deal). When I got home I realized I received shrimp. I believe I was overcharged (17.50) and the soup taste-wise did not compare to most other thai restaurants that I frequent. I hate to write about how much I loved Min's because I'm afraid it will get too crowded, but it really was wonderful. I'd never been here before and the wait staff was great, and very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. The Pad Thai was wonderful, creamy and full of good sized shrimp, the Tom Kha Gai was also very good, and the sizzling beef was fantastic! And they ask you what level spice you want, which is really helpful for people who can't take much spice. Min's has a really lovely atmosphere also, it was like sitting in someone's dining room. It reminded me of home, great food served by lovely people. read more

I have been going to Min's since I was a child. So for me, this IS Thai food at its finest! True, it's not cheap take-out, but the delicate flavors are just amazing. We usually order 1 dish per person and eat family style. Their spicy Tom Yum soup is the best cure for a cold I've found. They have great vegetarian/vegan options - you can get almost any dish made with tofu or seitan instead. And let me tell you, their seitan is out of this world! My stand by dishes there are the Pad Kee Mow (spicy noodles) with seitan, the Tom Sum (green papaya salad), and the coconut rice and mango for dessert. read more

Nice lady working there. Food is decent but a little overpriced. 2 noodle dishes (one without meat) and a cup of soup costs $30. Must be the decor and rent they have to pay for. But maybe I'm just used to Thai food in LA being a little cheaper and a little better. read more

Lunch at Min's, nice specials but limited. Had the beef over spinach with peanut sauce, comes with rice, small salad and egg rolls the size of a small boned gal's pinkie. All good except had to add some salty seasoning. Good value for the price, and great service. Nice for a quick lunch!!!!!! read more

The food was admittedly delicious and if I was looking for something in a bind might go here because it is super close. But it's expensive for what you get (ie: portions are small). I compare this though to places like President Thai and Saladang (my favs). Staff is very friendly and they are relatively quick. read more

Beautiful atmosphere! Great servers, so kind!! Food is fast and the prices are great! The lunch specials are very affordable and the food is DELICIOUS! The presentation of the food is great also. Exceptional food! Staff was friendly and jamming around to make sure everyone was happy and attended to. The owner tells us they've been making Thai in La Canada for more than 40 years and it's no wonder they've around so long. The sizzling beef with spinach and peanut sauce was outstanding - the peanut sauce was subtle and added the perfect amount of creaminess. The Green Curry wasn't the perfect compliment to the beef (that was our fault we just wanted to try both) but it was equally fantastic! We opted for the shrimp which was washed in a sweet and spicy coconut curry - Total Yum. The basic fried rice was just as described basic but is was perfect when topped with both dishes. All and in all it was a perfect meal and we'll be back ... A LOT! read more

The food is good and the service is excellent. I've had better Thai food but this is the only Thai restaurant in the area that I know of.

This place is amazing. We had a rude experience at Penelope's across the street and were so warmly welcomed at Mins we were relieved and happy to be received by her. The decor is authentic, warm and comfortable and the food is outstanding! If I lived nearby I would frequent this place often!!! read more

We love Thai food, and we've been to several places here in LA, and around the country. We definitely think Min's Kitchen is the BEST. Two reasons: 1) Best tasting food ever. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Try the spicy green beans with gluten, or the special tamarind fish. Amazing! 2) The owners are SO sweet. Went here after a visit to Descanso Gardens. We came in around 2pm for lunch. Kind of late but the lady (who we think is the owner) was very gracious and delivered a great meal. We had Curry, salads, grilled pork - lots of Saki & beer. Really had a lovely time. We will be back. Thanks for such yummy food. read more

Good spot for Thai food. I often get to-go from here, and the food quality has always been good and tastes great! Small spot, but a good one to have around in a nice little community. The only thing I found weird about this place was the little chocolates they have at the hostess desk they sell for a quarter. Just give it away and don't look cheap is all I would suggest. read more

The food was good. The portions were on the smaller side which is fine with my husband and I but big eaters may be disappointed. The salad was fresh and had a sweet and sour sauce on it which was different but very good. The entrées were good but different. We missed the peanut sauce with the pork skewers. This is some of the best Thai food in LA. A little pricier than some, but well worth the extra dollars spent. I find the curry in other restaurants can be thin and runny. This is definitely not the case at Min's. The hard part is deciding whether to go with curry or noodles when I dine here. The garlic string beans are the best, and not to be missed! read more

Overall the food was good but the service was slow. I think there was just one person serving and the owner seating people. The papaya salad was good but super spicy. Our lips on fire! The satay chicken and beef were average. The sizzling chicken was good, pineapple fried rice was average, and padseeew was good. I didn't care for the Talay (seafood) dish. I have tried several items on their menu but the two stand outs are the Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup and the Spicy Beef Salad. The soup is so flavorful and filled with fresh ingredients. And I swear if you have a cold and order it extra hot your cold is gone the next day. I first went to Min's in 1989 and I have never been disappointed in the food nor the service. The staff is always friendly and they usually know their customers by their first name.
