I thought the food was pretty decent (its a chain so don't expect the best sushi ever) and the atmosphere was nice. Pretty good sushi one of my top favorite places the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think its over rated for the price. yes the food is good but I have found other sushi places that are just as good for less money. But I also do like mio because the restaurant isn't that crowded so I have space to enjoy myself. I don't know if money isn't an issue I would go here. the coco roll is the best but its $13.50 for 1 roll. Every time my family and I go there we spend at least $100. read more

Didn't remember this place last time I was in Bend, so my friends and I decided to try it out. I wish I had looked at the Yelp review before I went but it wasn't as bad as some of the others experiences. Took a while to be seated even if there were enough waitresses and two big empty tables that our party could fit in. We were told we were being taken care of but I watched as the waitress never once touched the table she said she would clean. Another waitress helped us when she realized we were forgotten about too. Took a while to get our food too... But I tend to expect that at sushi places. I got a tempura roll for $5 and it was small but okay tasting. None of my friends were blown away. The bathrooms were gross. We didn't get straws with water. I saw someone carry the tempura in their hand from the back into the main sushi assembling area. So I guess these aren't fresh if she could just hold them. Glad she was wearing gloves but I was obviously not supposed to see that. Wouldn't come again... None of my friends would. If you're looking for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner try Red Robin near the movie theater. :)! read more

Terrible service! Tried to take out of town guests for dinner. It took the server 10 minutes just to come take our drink order. After we ordered...5 bento boxes...we never had contact again. We watched everybody around us that sat down after us get food...at one point i got up to ask another waitress about our miso...she said they were making more and it would be a few minutes. After 45 minutes of being ignored we walked out. We will never go back. Bend has two other really great Japanese restaurants...no need to give my money to a place that doesn't want it! Very disappointing. Food was average. Prices were average. Service was dismal. The server acted like we were burdens. We had to ask for chopsticks and didn't get an itemized receipt. We would totally understand if it had been busy but there were two other small groups in the restaurant. In the past month I have visited Mio Sushi numerous times, each time better than the last. The sushi has been delectable and the service has been very quick and friendly. My personal favorites are the Mt. Rainier roll that has baked salmon on the top that is phenomenal. Another favorite is the Salmon Nigiri - the salmon has been so fresh and tasty. A year ago sushi was not a top of the list choice of mine but thanks to Mio Sushi and their great team, I am now a bona fide sushi fanatic! read more

I really enjoy mio sushi. I have been going there for a couple years and always get their ahi tataki roll or their spicy chicken entree. The heart attack appetizer is soooo good as well! I have always had great experience with the service. Obviously when it's really busy in the summer you have to wait to be seated a little longer, but I find that to be true for most restaurants I go to in Bend's busy summers. read more

Had a wonderful dinner here this evening. Was in Bend on my own and had been to the Mio Sushi in NW Portland so I thought I would give it a try. Food was as good as Pdx and the waitresses were really nice. I was the only one there and they took really good care of me. Tried several types of Sake and settled on the house Sake. The menu is large, and the ambience is nice and clean. My kids (2 and 4) love the edamame (just $3). Some rolls are okay, I don't care for the deep fried ones. My favorite roll so far has been the Mt. Rainier roll. Some rolls are huge and need two bites to finish. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Wish I could give Mio Sushi in the mill zero stars. Absolutely ridiculous experience. A table of seven of us came in for sushi one night. The service was extremely lousy. Between seven different dishes, each was delivered with a margin of 10 minutes between each. From the time the first customer was done eating, the fifth roll was just being dropped. After complaining to the manager about the experience, he felt sorry and granted us three free sushi rolls our next visit. I came back to visit and was astonished by the rudeness of the same manager and the decency to not even grant my wish for one Philadelphia roll and one Banzai roll but instead, to have a waiter drop two California rolls without telling me what type of sushi it was nor placing any trays for soy sauce or chopsticks down. I asked to speak with the manager again and he literally laughed and showed no kindness or respect towards me, the customer. I pulled out his menu and showed him his mission statement (in case he forgot) and made it clear how astonishing the service was. I do not recommend you go to Mio Sushi. instead, go local to Kanpai Sushi off of Newport with EXCELLENT sushi and FABULOUS service. Ok so here's the deal. I came into this restaurant and glanced around the dining hall. Nice paint job. I loved the faux-leather booths. BUT THEN!! I sat down. Mistake #1. They brought me a menu and what do I see? FISH! FISH FISH FISH!!!!!! THEN THEY BROUGHT IT TO ME AND IT WAS RAW I COULD'VE DIED DON'T THEY KNOW THAT!? WHAT ABOUT MY RAW FISH ALLERGY? Huh, HUH???? I mean seriously, shouldn't they know my medical history? I think they should. I even brought my medical records to the table. Then they told me to 'knock it off' when I attempted to perform a dissection of a pot sticker! I only had three scalpels out and they were already yelling! I was yet to even unearth my anesthetic mask from my medical satchel. Overall I would NOT recommend it for dissections or the raw fish. If, however, you are wanting nice, cold, fresh water... We had lunch at Mio Sushi, and wished we hadn't. The fried calamari was extremely salty, with the pieces so glued together that we gave up on chopsticks and pulled them apart with our fingers. I had to get up and track our waitress down to ask for the sauce that went with it, as well as a bottle of soy sauce. We were half-way through before she returned. The sushi rolls we ordered were some of the most "interesting" and forgettable sushi we've ever had (and we've eaten sushi all around the world). The hamachi tasted old and fishy, the spicy salmon rolls weren't spicy and fell apart with a gloppy sauce that oozed out of each piece; the unagi was overcooked, soft, and mushy; and the spider roll was - well, just mushy. None of the rolls had any flavor. The kitchen seems to be staffed by amateurs who haven't a clue about what they are doing. The waitresses were friendly but seemed rather distracted. Our drinks were comped because of the wait time for our order, and I overheard another table getting comped for part of their order due to their very long wait time for food. This is so sad. Olivia, our server and her her busboy were good BUT WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND TELL OUR FRIENDS TO BEWARE !! We were looking forward to a nice dinner after a 3 hour drive. They were all in street clothes, nothing covering their hair, no aprons, running their fingers through their hair, scratching their faces, no gloves and kept 'taste testing' our food as they prepared it !! All but one guy grazed happily through the food, a nibble here and a big bite there the entire prep time while basically tossing the food on the plates. The messy plate presentation was enough for us to walk out, but we watched, too stunned to believe what was happening the entire time then got up and left. We couldn't even touch the food, much less eat it. We waited to talk to someone, but Olivia and the busboy were not in sight. We moved from San Francisco to Bend. While living in the Bay Area we had access to some great Japanese food, including Japantown in SF. We were a bit concerned about finding good Japanese food in Bend but after discovering Mio Sushi, we were delighted. We find the service great, and the food top notch. We can satisfy our sushi craving whenever we like now. The atmosphere may not be quite as intimate as it could be, but the food is great. Not sure why the negative comments here. I have always been impressed with the price and the quailty of the sushi, especially compared to other sushi bars. They do tend to be a little slow at times at getting the food out but that is understandable because sushi is a little more time consuming and its always worth the wait! Service is always good. The only complaint I have is that they close for a few hours in the middle of the day, maybe because they dont have enough business, but I have gone there several times and been disappointed that they were closed. So definitely recommend this place even to people who arent crazy about sushi, they have other really good menu items also. Lets keep this place in business! read more

Mio was the first sushi place I had ever been too, and while it may be the cheapest place in town for sushi there is a reason, after going there for a year I went just recently and got my favorite roll as always the MT.St.Helens roll and I got a sever burn on my lip! I almost wanted to go to urgent care to have it tend to. I have eaten this roll many times and never experienced this. also this is a cold roll and it felt like a chemical burn on my lip. Had a concert to attend in Old Mill. We were in the mood for sushi. We had seen mixed reviews about Mio sushi, but we are optimists. We started with an Udon noodle soup. Not bad. Sushi stuffed jalapenos... Oh god no. Flavorless. Even the jalapenos themselves had nothing to them. Boy did we regret it. The sushi...Imagine a flavorless mushy meatloaf. Now imagine adding a bit of soy sauce to it then putting in in your mouth. We had two completely different rolls. Both had the same terrible qualities. Technically they were "edible" (if you are homeless and in desperate need of something in your stomach) and we didn't get sick afterwards (always a plus). That's the only positive thing i can say about it. No flavor. Texture was extremely disappointing. Even the rice - how does one mess up rice so badly? - flavorless and slightly overcooked. It had the makings of unsalted rice-maker rice sloppily made. This was our date night. Ugh. Yes, it was cheap (inexpensive). The waitresses smiled plenty and seemed nice enough. Food? You get what you pay for? Not even close. Inexpensive is not meant to mean garbage. There was no value had here. I'd like to think I'm a fair person, positive too. I can say with 100% certainty that there was nothing redeeming about this place. Horrible experience and a ruined date night. Don't do it. read more
