Went for brunch on a Sunday, packed house, very noisy, sat outside in enclosed porch. Food was good, they put out carafe of water with mint leaves in it, had felafel plate with hummus and Israeli salad, lamb schwarma with rice and chickpeas, pita with both, kanifeh (sugar syrup on the side, great for diabetics) and almond custard for dessert, coffee and cappuccino. Good value for the egg and felafel platters. I did not like that they served the tahini and the harissa in the same bowl so the two mixed together. The service was a slight bit short, I had to ask twice for sweetener for my coffee, no spoons were served with sauces, I had to ask to have the table wiped down after the entrees, and the server seemed so busy it was hard to track him down. I also noticed they charge $10 more for some of the exact same dishes at dinner. I would go back for dinner for some of the more unique choices on the menu which are not served at brunch. REALLY BAD SERVICE!! My wife and I seated at the bar, we ordered 3 meals: winter salad to start, and the following 2 entries. The bartender didn't take any note at all. After 2 minutes, he came back to us and said we couldn't order eggs the way we wanted. Then, we showed to him the menu, that was very clear eggs "ANY STYLE". After some waiting, we got 2 entries. Therefore we decided to sit outside since it was closed off for winter and would be warm. Hostess put us at a small table for two. I waited a few days to post this review because I really wanted to reflect on my meal at Miriam. I'll start with the good. The Lamb Shawarma was absolutely delicious, topped with some fluffy pita and graced with warm cinnamon. The hummus was light and packed with flavor and umami. The branzino was cooked perfectly. The ambiance was lovely, and the location of the restaurant is very close to a Subway stop. Unfortunately, I had to give my experience at Miriam 4 stars for a couple of glaring food issues. I am not somebody who likes their food very salty; at a restaurant where salt shakers are not put on the table, I feel very awkward asking for one--considering chef's tasting choice. Most of my food was heavily undersalted, namely the Brisket and the disappointing asparagus appetizer (and man, I love white asparagus). My brisket was flavorful but also unfortunately very chewy, rather than tender. However, I am excited to return to Miriam and hope to be able to honestly give my next experience a 5 star rating. read more

Will preface this by saying I really enjoy the food at Miriam and have been to both the Brooklyn and UWS locations. At 4pm on a Monday evening my husband and I walked in for an early dinner. There was one other table seated in the entire restaurant. I am visibly 9 months pregnant and the hostess offered us either of the two worst tables of the restaurant (middle of the aisle, small two tops). I could understand if this were peak time on a busy evening but not for a Monday at 4pm. We left before 6pm at which point there were four other tables who had been seated, including a solo diner and two other parties of two who were sat at nicer banquette tables with more seating and less in the way. We noticed the other tables were given water carafes with mint stems to infuse the water whereas ours was plain, nor were we offered any other options. So while the food is good, albeit a bit pricey, the service at this location could use some improvement. Would it have killed them to offer a little more space to a very pregnant lady? read more

We ordered the 3 meze for $30 (shrimp, brussel sprouts and cauliflower), zaatar flat bread and lamb shawarma. All the mezes were good and quite filling. We were pleasantly surprised the shrimp came with 4 pieces and they were plump and crunchy from the Kadaif wrap. The flat bread was good too but of the 4 pieces, only 1 had zaatar on it. The lamb shawarma had a nice presentation where they open the pastry top at the table. Tasty dish but a little dry so the accompanying sauces and pickled onions commented the dish. For dessert we had the kanafe with pistachio ice cream. The ice cream was creamy but I found the kanafe to be different (softer?) than what I've had. Overall a good meal but service seemed inconsistent. Someone tables were asked how they're meals were going and wiped clean before dessert while we had to flag our server down to clear our plates and order dessert. This was my first time coming here, and even though there were no vegan options on the menu without alterations, I would definitely recommend this place! The Mediterranean salad is vegan without the feta, and it was delicious. It looked small at first, but was actually decently filling and left me satisfied. It was a classic Mediterranean flavor profile, a little vinegary, black peppery, good quality olive oil, and just super refreshing. The lamb shawarma and the crispy fried dough were thoroughly enjoyed by both non-vegan friends. The pita was super soft and fresh and warm, and all in all both friends said they would come back again. The servers were super nice and let me sit in almost an hour before my reservation (it wasn't super busy), and I just ordered a tea for the morning. The main contributor to my rating is the food. I ordered the Green Shakshuka and it was really not good. It was watery, unseasoned bell peppers with overcooked eggs. All the waitresses were really sweet but not the most attentive. They forgot stuff sometimes/or long waits. I recommend the Mediterranean salad (skip the meat). Our chicken was super dry. Ask for the harissa sauce on the side. The hummus and jeresulam bagel were great. The shrimp were good but taste like a basic fried shrimp. I wish the sauce it came with had more flavor. The split pea soup was good and the server kindly brought a sample for us to try ahead of time. Reverse HH started at 9:30 but they closed at 10. We ordered a cocktail and wine at 9:30 ish and they took forever to bring it to us. Then another girl came to check on us and we told her and the cocktails came out shortly after. The issue was that because they took so long, we basically had 5 minutes to drink them because it was like 5 minutes till 10 when they brought them out. At 10:10 they turned the lights and heater out and we were outdoors so it got super dark and we felt that was rude and rushing us so we took my cocktail to go. A really poor meal here at Miriam's. The lamb cigars had very little meat or flavor. The lamb shawarma terracotta was just terrible. No flavor inside and really burnt bread on top. It looked nothing like the photo on their website. When I asked the server about it, she said that was the way it was supposed to be, regardless of how it looked in the photo I showed her. The Halloumi and artichoke salad had very few artichokes in it. The cocktails were also really bad; we were going to try dessert, but the service was so slow (despite not being busy), that we finally just grabbed the check and left. Went for dinner on a Saturday night, pretty early. The restaurant was packed and quite loud. Seems like there's nothing to absorb sound so with loud music and lots of people talking, it's difficult to have a conversation at your table. Service: They kindly seated us early for our reservation. Our waitperson was very nice but overall the service was very bad. Only our appetizer and drink orders were taken. Our appetizers came out, and we had no plates (but we did have to pile up the menus to make space for the food). By the time they brought plates, we had already finished he appetizers. They took our entree orders later. The food came out relatively quickly, possibly because the dishes are pre-made. When our entrees came out they didn't clear the appetizer plates. When we ordered coffee and dessert, they said they had to give us soup spoons, they couldn't find any teaspoons. Food: meh. The prices are pretty high but the portions are not large (especially for the appetizers). The dipping platter had nice labneh but everything else just tasted right out of a jar or can. They brought us one kind of bread and then much later, another. The falafel appetizer was good but difficult to eat. No one liked their entrees but me. I got the sea bass in paper and it was alright. Others got the branzino and stuffed peppers and they did not enjoy them and didn't finish them. Desserts were also kind of disappointing (although the largest portions of the night). The food is not awful, but I've had much better much cheaper, and it's the most disorganized service I've experienced in awhile (especially at this price point). My wife and I felt cheated. The fish dinner said it came with couscous, Brussel sprouts, and a roll; but we did not get Brussel sprouts. The waiter said there were shaved Brussels sprouts in the couscous, and there was a minute amount. We ordered this dinner because we thought it came with a vegetable. The waiter agreed that the menu was misleading and told us other customers had complained.
