Really well-priced sushi in Anchorage. We came at 5 pm on a Tuesday and didn't have to wait. The staff were very friendly. We tried a bunch of rolls, but the salmon roll was probably our favorite. The miso soup and hot tea was a great way to start!

After a long day we want to go out for dinner. I looked up on Yelp and we decided to go have sushi. I didn't take a photos of the sushi rolls or appetizers but the food was pretty good. It's had for me to give 5 stars for sushi in the states since I've lived in Japan but it was pretty good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I'm almost at a four stars because the food was good, but just couldn't get there. First and foremost, we did like the food with the exception of the miso soup, which was nothing special. The meal and sushi were well prepared. The problem was the service and ambiance. No longer do they play cool music, instead it's cringe music coming from the kitchen area. We had to ask for water (and a water refill) several times. The key issue is cleanliness - YIKES - they need to shut down for at least a day and deep clean (especially the floors) and new paint is over due. They need to look at the entire space with fresh eyes and clean up. With these improvements, I could see it being five stars again.

My server and gyoza were the only good things about this place. I ordered the Hawaiian roll which is supposed to be spicy tuna, cucumber, tuna and jalapeño. I added all the wasabi on my plate and mixed it with soy sauce. But the after taste was old tuna after my first bite. I tried one more piece and same thing. Awkward but I sent it back while all the workers audibly laughed out loud about what I said. I'll happily take my money elsewhere. If it was good, I would have ate it, and tipped well. DAMI SUSHI is the only consistent sushi place in town. That has never used old tuna.

This is small place in a strip mall. The staff was very welcoming and we were sat promptly. Our server quickly brought us iced water, miso soup and a salad while we looked at the menu. The unagi sushi was very good. I love soft shell crabs so we ordered that as an appetiser. The dish was bigger than expected and I really enjoyed the salad it came with. We ordered Sapporo on tap which was cold and good. I don't recall the name of the roll we got, but it was delicious! I enjoyed the different types of eggs and fish on it. Th spicy tuna roll was also really good. The only reason it's a 4 star vs a 5 star is because of the fried rice. We shouldn't have ordered it. My bf loves fried rice, but this is just not their strength. The chicken was cold cold in it and the beef was 50/50 chance of cold vs warm. I don't eat cold food that's meant to be warm, so he had to it. If hi come, just stick to the sushi.

4.5 Stars Cute spot on strip mall. Yummy sushi and very welcoming, sweet staff. The Chirashi ($28) was sizeable and delicious (9 different items - 6 fish, imitation crab, fish eggs, and Tamago). Had the Unagi Don ($24) to go as well and it was awesome - the eel was tender and grilled perfectly. Miso soup served to start. Mom and sister also got the Miso Roll special and Halibut Tempura ($17), both well made and awesome. The halibut is local!

I'm done with this place. What used to be a solid dining experience is now nothing more than an overpriced sushi restaurant with loud (for no reason) music.

Pleasantly surprised!!! Walked in with 3 others around 630 on a Thursday night and was seated right away. Menu had alot of options from starters, sashimi, sushi, and bento boxes. Pricing was great for the portions. So many sushi places here in Anchorage are overpriced so this was a welcome change. Service was good as busy as it was! Cute interior with ample seating. Would def go back.

2 tiny packets of ginger for a $120+ order of take out sushi.

Honestly I don't ever leave reviews but this was one of the worst sushi take out orders i've ever gotten. I spent $120+ dollars and what I received was basically inedible. Also, why would you give me two tiny servings of ginger?? I would have given 1 star but at least the bento box was okay. Ordered a Fantastic roll, Golden Lady roll, Rock n roll, FBI roll, 12 piece sashimi, sesame chicken bento box, and a miso soup. The fantastic roll and Golden lady were fishy. Fantastic roll lacked any flavor other than jalapeño and gross fish. Salmon in the sashimi was absolutely awful. Slimy and gross. I will not be ordering from here again.

I know this place is well loved by many - and to be upfront I have not been to the resturant, only having delivery. But I found nothing "amazing" about this. And the rice has that .. lacking taste of most sushi places. It is always quick though and is good, but doesn't stand out. I would order again, but I don't see myself stopping by the actual location. read more

We Frequent Miso almost monthly. We love their lunch specials. Priced right and Very generous portions. good choice of fish with the lunch sashimi bento box. The interior is always clean and service is friendly. Family friendly as well! they always offer/give us a small bowl of miso soup with rice for our kid every time we come in. Compared to other sushi spots this one is reasonably priced, clean, and service has always been great! read more

February '19 My husband and I were quite excited to eat here yesterday. we ordered a pink shrimp (it was ok but pretty expensive for only 6pcs.), chicken teriyaki lunch box (chicken was so dry and there's only a little bit of teriyaki sauce) and combination yakisoba (it was so salty). And combination fried rice to go (it was good). They are more expensive than other restaurants. We'll be back sometime to try again maybe because they just open. Our server was nice though. read more

Miso Sushi is the best sushi in town! I love there baked rolls, they are so unique and tasty my favourite is Snow White, instead of sushi they have also great food special the yakisoba (buy honestly everything is so good) the dishes are pretty big too which is nice if you hungry. I also did a lot of delivery orders with them and they always pack it great and make the same awesome food for Togo and dining at the place, don't miss there dip fried Oreo if you dine in the restaurant. read more

I was impressed! The food was fantastic, the service was great! I ordered the fried California roll and added cream cheese to my roll. I was there with a few other people and each one of us ordered something different. The California roll serving was huge for one person but so delicious I enjoyed every bite. One of the people at our table ordered us all deep fried Oreo cookies. For those that has a sweet tooth, Its good and sweet!. read more

Love it! Absolutely love it! Portions on point! One problem we have here in anchorage with sushi is fish proportions. A lot of places in town seem to be skimping on their cuts, some that I have given the benefit of the doubt to a new chef only to realize it may just be the new norm. Definitely not the case here, inventive rolls, nice cuts, and wonderful atmosphere! I will be returning for sure, as a wise man once said; I like it, I love it, I want some more of it! read more

Probably rated a little high if this restaurant was located in San Fran or Hawaii but this is the best and freshest you'll get it Anchorage. The uni was Pretty fresh and oysters were clean tasting, is usually get Hamachi and ikura but Hawaii rarely has Ono sashimi so I wanted something different. The Ono was good not as fatty as I like it but still good. read more

Service was great, the food was excellent and the prices were agreeable. We had a great time enjoying our lunch with a few glasses of wine and sake and our host was so accommodating. I loved the portions, the ambiance, and it's overall a great neighborhood sushi restaurant. Hits the spot. The presentation of all the food was a nice touch as well, shown in the photos. Our first time here. The staff is warm and inviting. The dining area is small, cozy, and clean. The decor is fun. Now the food We had 4 rolls - The Alaskan, Snow White, Vegas, and Crystal. Each roll was incredible and fresh. You can sit at the bar and watch them prepare the food if you like. Of course miso soup and salad was served as a complimentary appetizer. I would recommend this place to anyone like enjoys sushi and rolls. read more

The food is wonderful. Service is shockingly slow. This has nothing to do with how fast the chefs made our sushi: that was shockingly fast. Every other aspect of the dining experience was so slow, unprofessional, and disorganized that I'm sitting here, waiting for the check, and fuming while I write this review. We even asked the waitress at the start of our visit if they were running behind and she assured us it would be fast service. Not true! read more

Best addition to the area! We had an absolutely amazing lunch here. Customer service was impeccable and the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. I ordered the sashimi bento box combo and was pleasantly surprised with the quantity and quality of everything they gave us. We had our one year old with us and they even gave her soup of her own free of charge. Definitely added to our short list of favorite spots. read more

This is a perfectly good Korean fish themed store masquerading as a restaurant. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The drinks are reasonably priced. Two stars for that. The food is another matter ... I had tempura, miso soup and spicy tuna roll. The tempura has very thick and not crispy batter. The dipping sauce was pretty much just diluted soy sauce. The tempura was freshly made but beyond that quite awful. The miso soup was boiling hot. The tofu almost non existent and the flavor pretty much just stock miso (ok, no surprises here, after all, the name of the restaurant is 'miso', so you'd expect that ...). Not much trace of dashi (seaweed stock). The spicy tuna roll must have been made with gochujang, judging by the taste. The nori was ok (a bit tough but ok). Not sure if this is the best Anchorage can offer but it definitely isn't on par with any random sushi restaurant in a major city. Avoid unless desperate! You're much better off going to one of the local brew houses and eating local salmon. read more

Very nice, friendly little sushi restaurant close to home. We only ordered 3 things during our visit: California roll, hamachi nigiri, and tempura. The California roll tasted good, was a larger roll than I expected. The hamachi was delicious and fresh and a good slice, not to thick or thin, not too much rice, although the rice was sweet than I'm used to. The tempura was perfect, beautiful and lightly coated. We'll have to come back and try more items, definitely worth another visit. read more

Really fresh sushi, clean and updated atmosphere. I ordered the volcano roll and the scallops were perfectly cooked. Not over cooked and chewy like other places I've been. The uni was so fresh and creamy and the ikura was really fresh and not dried out. So far this is my favorite place to get fresh sushi in Anchorage! read more

Lovely new Japanese restaurant replacing a local favorite, Sushi Ya. I have to say I came in hungry, with no expectations. Decorated lovely, service right on it and relaxing ambiance. The lunch chicken teriyaki bento box was the best I've had. Nice mixture of locals and Japanese business men, which I consider a solid sign this is an excellent sushi joint. . I can honestly say, I've stumbled on a new favorite. read more

By far the best sushi I've had in awhile. We ordered the Spicy Orange & Dragon, AMAZING! They give a nice portion, the sauce was not over powering, so you can definitely taste the meat and whatever garnishment or sauce compliments it. Lot of sushi places hide their poor meat quality with loads of sauce, but clearly not the cause at Miso Sushi, and BOY! The eel meat on the Dragon roll was CHUNKY, I've never had such healthy bites of eel. Overall great service, food and calming environment. Would definitely come again. read more

I have always heard this was a good place to go eat a good meal. Absolutely correct, the table of eight next to us had a giant sushi boat,,, more like a ship! My wife and I had two sushi rolls and some sashimi- they were very good and filling. The service was excellent and fast. We can't wait to go back with some friends and order a sushi boat. read more

Ordered to-go yesterday. Order was perfect, which is better than I can say for some establishments. Sushi portions were very nice, and well made. Quality seemed good, but I am accustomed to eating raw sushi very cold. The salmon sashimi and the Philly roll were both room temp...not sure if that's intentional, and I've been eating sushi incorrectly all my life, or if that's an issue, but in my mind, you want raw fish very cool. I ordered three things, and when I picked it up, asked if soy sauce was in the bag. They said it was, but they only gave me one packet. Turns out I didn't even use it all, but I don't like a lot of soy sauce on my sushi....if you do, make sure you request extra. Would definitely go back. read more

The sesame chicken was not on the menu but we were still able to order it. Even though it was coated in a honey sauce, the breaded chicken was still crunchy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very juicy and tender. The server was very nice and efficient.

Service 4 Stars - I believe the restaurant is family owned and operated. Limited staff but the friendly, fast and efficient. Our server recommended several dishes which we ordered on a cold night. Only "ding" to our server was she didn't ask about our drinks. We were served water but she didn't take our drink order which was fine because of the yummy noodle broth we ordered. This place specializes in Japanese noodles, so don't expect a Hibachi show or variety of different sushi options. The star of the show are Japanese inspired noodle dishes and Katsu (deep fried Pork or Chicken). Food SOLID 4 Stars - We ordered Four dishes 1. 3 Stars - Pork Katsu - deep fried panko coated Pork with a tiny accompaniment of sliced cabbage. The Tonkatsu sauce (made of ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, and garlic), was liberally squeezed on the top of the dish. It was good but parts of the meat was slightly dry and the panko had a slight burnt taste to it. Possibly it was left in the fryer a little bit longer than it should. 2. 4 Stars - Kimchi Pork Tonkutso Miso Ramen Kimchi inspired w Chasu (pork belly), bean sprouts, green onions, one halved hard boiled egg, garlic flakes and ramen noodles. The ramen were al dente, had a slight chewy texture and it was a great way to soaked up the Miso broth. The miso broth was light and clear. Not as fatty or heavy as some other broths can be but had a wonderful flavor due to the other ingredients in it. This dish is loaded with Kimchi, so it might get a spicy. The Pork Katsu was a great palate cleanser to the kimchi heat. 2. 4 Stars Shoyu Ramen - same ingredients as above without the Kimchi. Also, is it chicken broth with soy sauce. The broth is light, slightly salty, and darker due to the added soy sauce. 3. 4 Stars Naruto Udon - chicken broth, shiitake mushrooms, freshly ground ginger and garlic, seaweed paper, green onions and bean sprouts. The rice based Udon noodles were thick and slippery. At times, they are hard to use with the chopsticks. The chicken broth has a wonderful Umami taste due to the earthy shiitake mushrooms. If you want more a vegetarian meal, this dish is the one. Even though they serve noodle soup dishes, don't forget to try their Japanese / Korean Curry dishes too. I will definitely be back to taste their curry dishes or appetizers like Gyoza and possibly get the Pork Katsu again just to try one more time. Also, there is a Combo Option for additional cost. I combine the Pork Katsu with the Kimchi Tonkutso for an additional $7. Check with your server or look on the menu. The prices and dish items may change later on. Enjoy!
