We split the garlic edamame. My wife had a vegetarian roll. All best quality, great chef, great restaurant. If you want a mellow little Japanese food spot in Anchorage, this is it.

Love the garlic edamame. I can't say much about the rolls because I usually just order nigiri and sashimi. Some restaurants give huge chunks of sashimi to where it's overwhelming. Miso to me gave a perfect portion.

Definitely try the salmon carpaccio, the salmon belly (sake) and the Spicy Orange roll. So fresh! The salmon literally melted in my mouth.

Haven't tried many sushi places in the Anchorage area because when I find a place I like l tend to stick with it. While I'm pretty adventurous in terms of trying different restaurants, and new cuisines when it comes to sushi I do not like being dissatisfied. Nasty raw fish does not sound like a fun time to me so I tend to stick with a favorite sushi place. That being said I am pleased to report that I was just as impressed with Miso Sushi, and happy that we gave it a try! The space was very clean, and well decorated with Japanese Sakura blossoms. When we dined it was fairly empty as it was early evening during a holiday weekend. The service was very attentive, and our food came out quickly after we ordered. The sushi was very good! The fish was fresh, everything was well prepared, and good portion sizes. The sashimi pieces were a good size for the price, and the maki had decent sized pieces of fish in them. All the rolls we tried were very tasty!

My favorites were the fantastic roll and the spicy orange. Our meal also came with complementary miso soup, and a tasty cold noodle salad. The prices were fair for what we received. The menu has a wide selection of different Makis,...

This is small place in a strip mall. The staff was very welcoming and we were sat promptly. Our server quickly brought us iced water, miso soup and a salad while we looked at the menu. The unagi sushi was very good. I love soft shell crabs so we ordered that as an appetiser. The dish was bigger than expected and I really enjoyed the salad it came with. We ordered Sapporo on tap which was cold and good. I don't recall the name of the roll we got, but it was delicious! I enjoyed the different types of eggs and fish on it. Th spicy tuna roll was also really good. The only reason it's a 4 star vs a 5 star is because of the fried rice. We shouldn't have ordered it. My bf loves fried rice, but this is just not their strength. The chicken was cold cold in it and the beef was 50/50 chance of cold vs warm. I don't eat cold food that's meant to be warm, so he had to it. If hi come, just stick to the sushi.

I'm done with this place. What used to be a solid dining experience is now nothing more than an overpriced sushi restaurant with loud (for no reason) music.

4.5 Stars Cute spot on strip mall. Yummy sushi and very welcoming, sweet staff. The Chirashi ($28) was sizeable and delicious (9 different items - 6 fish, imitation crab, fish eggs, and Tamago). Had the Unagi Don ($24) to go as well and it was awesome - the eel was tender and grilled perfectly. Miso soup served to start. Mom and sister also got the Miso Roll special and Halibut Tempura ($17), both well made and awesome. The halibut is local!

Pleasantly surprised!!! Walked in with 3 others around 630 on a Thursday night and was seated right away. Menu had alot of options from starters, sashimi, sushi, and bento boxes. Pricing was great for the portions. So many sushi places here in Anchorage are overpriced so this was a welcome change. Service was good as busy as it was! Cute interior with ample seating. Would def go back.

2 tiny packets of ginger for a $120+ order of take out sushi.

Honestly I don't ever leave reviews but this was one of the worst sushi take out orders i've ever gotten. I spent $120+ dollars and what I received was basically inedible. Also, why would you give me two tiny servings of ginger?? I would have given 1 star but at least the bento box was okay. Ordered a Fantastic roll, Golden Lady roll, Rock n roll, FBI roll, 12 piece sashimi, sesame chicken bento box, and a miso soup. The fantastic roll and Golden lady were fishy. Fantastic roll lacked any flavor other than jalapeño and gross fish. Salmon in the sashimi was absolutely awful. Slimy and gross. I will not be ordering from here again.

This place! Don't let the outside fool you. I thought I was going for a massage and I was ready to drive away but I remembered the reviews so I said "let's go in!" Best decision! I was greeted by Jobe and she was very pleasant. I sat at the bar while I saw how the chef ‍ made the sushis. I ordered the volcano sushi and I asked for their suggestion and they said the midnight dream . Both rolls were amazing and they both had a kick. I loved them and I don't even like that very spicy foods. The restaurant has nice music in the background and very mellow. The lights are dimmed so if you want to go on a date and you don't know where to go? Now you know. If you are in town and looking for some good sushi, stop by this place.

Service was quick and waitress was friendly. The sushi was alright. The Temaki were small and The spicy tuna was bland and didn't have a lot of pow, flavor. The Ikura didn't taste amazing, didn't taste real fresh. I enjoyed the salmon sashimi bowl (sorry forgot name). The rolls were alright. 3-stars due to good staff and quick service. Otherwise food was a 2-star.

Been coming to Miso since first moving to Alaska a year ago and come at least 2-3 times a month. Always consistent with the food. Great service and friendly atmosphere. The food is ALWAYS fresh and high quality. They are always busy but very attentive. read more

Nothing fancy about this restaurant, but the miso soup was very good and the food had great flavor. I had the sesame chicken bento box and my husband had a sushi roll along with an udon. If we didn't live so far away, like in Central California, we would go back. read more

Our second time here in the 72 hours we've been in Alaska. We had dinner here our first night here and were blown away by the excellent service, friendly staff, and amazing food. The sushi was fresh, plated beautifully, and HUGE (Alaska sized portions, and that's saying something since we're from Texas, haha). The bulgogi don and unagi don were excellent, too (not pictured). We're trying to stop by here each time we're in Anchorage on this trip, and hopefully future trips as well! read more

I think the local come here. The place wasn't that big. But they made up for it in the food. The rolls were great. I don't remember what we got but we listened to our server who recommended what we should get. We downed about 9 rolls pretty quickly. The service was fast!!! We left full, fat, and happy. I like that they give you miso soup as well. Fresh as well. read more

When we saw a new restaurant was opening up, Neon and I got super excited for it. We always like to try new Asian restaurants, and we were so happy one opened up close by! They renovated the place really nice compared to the dark, cold, and cramped design it had from the previous restaurant. I could barely recognize the place with it's bright, cozy and chic new layout. It's still during its soft opening so there was only one other table with us so everything was super quick, the waitress was also super attentive too. We ordered the tempura udon, the Snow White roll, and got a deep fried cheesecake for dessert. We even got a complimentary starter! (Maybe because it was their soft opening?) I wasn't sure what it was exactly but it tasted really good! It came with little chips too. The udon came in a bit small of a bowl, but it was /filled/. The roll was nice and creamy, I like the little slice of baked fish on top too. Neon especially liked all the fried goods, perfectly fried and crisp. The cheesecake was super cute and not too sweet. Ours was a tiny bit still frozen in the middle but we actually liked the difference in texture. With all that food our total was only 37.00 (including a juice). Basic Alaskan prices for sushi restaurants but it was really good! There wasn't anything I didn't like here and I definitely will recommend for a quick eat. We'll come back! read more

Stopped by on a whim since I was craving sushi and this was close. No one inside seated when I came in (covid) so I was seated quickly. Staff was super friendly and fast. Food took a minute due to the to go order rush but was not a real issue. The chefs at the counter were cheerful and pleasant to interact with. The sushi had a lovely simple yet elegant presentation of the fish. I went with the sushi dinner which was enjoyable and filling. My only gripe is the crab on the rainbow roll not my favorite. (To be fair I am super picky about my crab, the filling was likey Krab not crab. Nothing wrong with it just not my favorite) But all the other fish, the rice, and Wasabi were smooth, buttery, and delicious. I would recommend this place to try. And when I am back in town I would totally eat here again. Keep up the good work Miso I love your nigri. read more

This place became my favorite for takeout during quarantine. The food is really good. My usual is the miso soup and sesame chicken, but the chicken katsu is good too. The portions are pretty big and I think reasonably priced. I haven't dined in yet, but the staff is really friendly when I pick up an order. Next time I order (which will probably be soon) I'm going to try some sushi! read more

I'm currently traveling in Anchorage with my daughter and we were hungry and stop by at Miso sushi for dinner without any expectations. Then wow.. it was amazing! I'm originally from LA which is hundreds of famous sushi places our there. But this Miso sushi restaurant was the best! We couldn't stop thinking about this place and here we are. I know this place is well loved by many - and to be upfront I have not been to the resturant, only having delivery. But I found nothing "amazing" about this. And the rice has that .. lacking taste of most sushi places. It is always quick though and is good, but doesn't stand out. I would order again, but I don't see myself stopping by the actual location. read more

We Frequent Miso almost monthly. We love their lunch specials. Priced right and Very generous portions. good choice of fish with the lunch sashimi bento box. The interior is always clean and service is friendly. Family friendly as well! they always offer/give us a small bowl of miso soup with rice for our kid every time we come in. Compared to other sushi spots this one is reasonably priced, clean, and service has always been great! read more

February '19 My husband and I were quite excited to eat here yesterday. we ordered a pink shrimp (it was ok but pretty expensive for only 6pcs.), chicken teriyaki lunch box (chicken was so dry and there's only a little bit of teriyaki sauce) and combination yakisoba (it was so salty). And combination fried rice to go (it was good). They are more expensive than other restaurants. We'll be back sometime to try again maybe because they just open. Our server was nice though. read more

I was impressed! The food was fantastic, the service was great! I ordered the fried California roll and added cream cheese to my roll. I was there with a few other people and each one of us ordered something different. The California roll serving was huge for one person but so delicious I enjoyed every bite. Miso Sushi is the best sushi in town! I love there baked rolls, they are so unique and tasty my favourite is Snow White, instead of sushi they have also great food special the yakisoba (buy honestly everything is so good) the dishes are pretty big too which is nice if you hungry. I also did a lot of delivery orders with them and they always pack it great and make the same awesome food for Togo and dining at the place, don't miss there dip fried Oreo if you dine in the restaurant. read more

I had the dragon roll. It's basically a California roll with eel on top. I enjoyed the crunch of the cucumber and the glaze was perfect and not too sweet. The sesame chicken was not on the menu but we were still able to order it. Even though it was coated in a honey sauce, the breaded chicken was still crunchy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very juicy and tender. The server was very nice and efficient.

The hot plates are spotlessly clean, I did notice, and there were instructions on the wall on how to cook shabu shabu. We used to come for the Tempura Udon which was spectacular. We were seated very quickly, and water was brought out. I decided to go with my benchmark dish, which always gives me some idea of whether I will return or not, and ordered chicken fried rice, husband got the tempura udon, so he could compare with the previous Udon we used to get here. I noticed that their soft drinks are only $2 which is an excellent price in my opinion. I got a Canada Dry as I love ginger ale. His Udon came out quite quickly, and we could instantly tell that the broth did not have the same depth of flavour, as when we used to come here, (it was quite smoky and very umami) and this one has a distinctly seaweed tang. Thats not to say that it's bad, it's just different. The noodles are also not quite so dense, chewy or toothsome. Additionally the tempura was somewhat of a letdown. The shrimps were very slimline compared to the display on the tv. There was an onion ring, that was also quite thin. Just not a good representation of tempura. Also, comparing with the Udon that used to be here, you also got a cup of miso soup, and a small salad with a carrot orange dressing. Those are gone. As for my chicken fried rice, well the presentation was excellent, it came on a beautiful plate, and looked very appetizing. The first couple of bites were really nice, plenty of carrots, broccoli, chicken, however I soon started encountering tender crisp onions. Which I cannot eat. They give me violent stomach pains. I can only eat onions that have been cooked down to almost mush. Anything raw or that has any element of crunch to it is a no-go, as it will make me ill. I found it somewhat unusual, as I get fried rice all over town and have never encountered chunky onions before. I'm sure I could have asked them to leave them out had I known they were going to be in there. It tasted good, for sure, but having to continually move the onions aside (and there was a lot of onions) was offputting. Normally when i get fried rice, I eat some, and take the rest in a to go box. I did not take the rest home this time which is very telling. Anyway, service was excellent, and they were very attentive - for instance our server saw that my husband was giving me a spoonful of his udon, and without being asked he came over with an extra spoon, small bowl, and a ladle, which I thought was very thoughtful. I cannot fault the staff.
