Gyoza
Taylor N.

My server and gyoza were the only good things about this place. I ordered the Hawaiian roll which is supposed to be spicy tuna, cucumber, tuna and jalapeño. I added all the wasabi on my plate and mixed it with soy sauce. But the after taste was old tuna after my first bite. I tried one more piece and same thing. Awkward but I sent it back while all the workers audibly laughed out loud about what I said. I'll happily take my money elsewhere. If it was good, I would have ate it, and tipped well. DAMI SUSHI is the only consistent sushi place in town. That has never used old tuna.

This is small place in a strip mall. The staff was very welcoming and we were sat promptly. Our server quickly brought us iced water, miso soup and a salad while we looked at the menu. The unagi sushi was very good. I love soft shell crabs so we ordered that as an appetiser. The dish was bigger than expected and I really enjoyed the salad it came with. We ordered Sapporo on tap which was cold and good. I don't recall the name of the roll we got, but it was delicious! I enjoyed the different types of eggs and fish on it. Th spicy tuna roll was also really good. The only reason it's a 4 star vs a 5 star is because of the fried rice. We shouldn't have ordered it. My bf loves fried rice, but this is just not their strength. The chicken was cold cold in it and the beef was 50/50 chance of cold vs warm. I don't eat cold food that's meant to be warm, so he had to it. If hi come, just stick to the sushi.

I'm done with this place. What used to be a solid dining experience is now nothing more than an overpriced sushi restaurant with loud (for no reason) music.

Unagi Don ($24) to go

4.5 Stars Cute spot on strip mall. Yummy sushi and very welcoming, sweet staff. The Chirashi ($28) was sizeable and delicious (9 different items - 6 fish, imitation crab, fish eggs, and Tamago). Had the Unagi Don ($24) to go as well and it was awesome - the eel was tender and grilled perfectly. Miso soup served to start. Mom and sister also got the Miso Roll special and Halibut Tempura ($17), both well made and awesome. The halibut is local!

Pleasantly surprised!!! Walked in with 3 others around 630 on a Thursday night and was seated right away. Menu had alot of options from starters, sashimi, sushi, and bento boxes. Pricing was great for the portions. So many sushi places here in Anchorage are overpriced so this was a welcome change. Service was good as busy as it was! Cute interior with ample seating. Would def go back.

2 tiny packets of ginger for a $120+ order of take out sushi.

Honestly I don't ever leave reviews but this was one of the worst sushi take out orders i've ever gotten. I spent $120+ dollars and what I received was basically inedible. Also, why would you give me two tiny servings of ginger?? I would have given 1 star but at least the bento box was okay. Ordered a Fantastic roll, Golden Lady roll, Rock n roll, FBI roll, 12 piece sashimi, sesame chicken bento box, and a miso soup. The fantastic roll and Golden lady were fishy. Fantastic roll lacked any flavor other than jalapeño and gross fish. Salmon in the sashimi was absolutely awful. Slimy and gross. I will not be ordering from here again.

Everything was good but the rolls are a little big to eat each piece as one bite as sushi was intended on being eaten.

This place! Don't let the outside fool you. I thought I was going for a massage and I was ready to drive away but I remembered the reviews so I said "let's go in!" Best decision! I was greeted by Jobe and she was very pleasant. I sat at the bar while I saw how the chef ‍ made the sushis. I ordered the volcano sushi and I asked for their suggestion and they said the midnight dream . Both rolls were amazing and they both had a kick. I loved them and I don't even like that very spicy foods. The restaurant has nice music in the background and very mellow. The lights are dimmed so if you want to go on a date and you don't know where to go? Now you know. If you are in town and looking for some good sushi, stop by this place.

Take, Ikura, Temaki Spicy Tuna Hand rolls, variety.

Top-notch friendly service! Went here for an "I" restaurant (doing a monthly alphabet dinner out)…read morewith friends and what a local hidden gem! I had the delicious Beef/Chicken/Shrimp Tempura dinner and had lots of leftovers. We loved the edamame appetizer- served hot and fresh. Very generous portion. My hubby loved the Rainbow Roll - friends loved the pork katsu don and their tofu appetizer too. Clean with fun umbrellas decor and a semi-private large party room. We all recommend for the quality food; it's a great value. Highly recommend - easy to get to off - at Lake Otis and Tudor intersection area.

Compared to what the old photos on here reflect, the face lift they underwent this past year have made a huge difference. Since I don't generally eat fish and hadn't been here before , I needed an enormous amount of time to review the menu. The waiter was very patient and kind with me. I order some tea and radish norimaki while I was deciding what to get in the interim... it wasnt terrible, but I've had much better. It fell apart very easily which I have never had happen to me before, so that lost them a star. The presentation was very nice though- the ginger was beautiful and the wasabi was Wooo! The most authentic ever. I wasnt expecting the rush I got, I almost died!!! Their sushi menu is ENORMOUS. I decided to take my sushi loving kids back with me soon and try theirs and ultimately I chickened out and bought the only ramen offering they had. I suspect that was a mistake because it wasnt very good... it was very... Random tasting? Im searching for a word because it seemed unprofessional and like an attempt like I would do at home rather than what you would get at a Japanese restaurant. That said, I'm not discouraged, I knew I was taking a chance ordering outside their specialty. I will be back for follow up.

We hadn't been in a while, so we were invited by our daughter and her new husband out for dinner…read moreand a movie. I really liked the way they had the inside decor, it was really set up nicely. I was looking at the beverage menu saw, Sapporo, okay great beer for a Sushi experience. I guess after looking over the Sushi offerings, it was hard to find a clean roll. Clean roll, to me means, no imitation crab in their roll. The one clean roll was the Spider Roll which we got 2 of. Of the 5 rolls we got the Spider was the favorite to me, I got the Hot Lava Roll not my favorite, but my wife ordered the Crazy Devil Roll it was good, and another clean roll was what my daughter got the 911 Roll. We all shared amongst the 3 of us. Something else missing was, miso soup or a ginger salad staples at Japanese Sushi places. Daughter's husband got Teriyaki Chicken, not a sushi guy Lol! I did get him to eat 1/2 a Spider Roll piece. Overall a 3.5 for Sushi, but ambiance 4.5. What I'd like more is clean sushi offerings, Naruto style, and a must have Unagi (Eel), Sweet Shrimp w/deep fried heads, Toro (Yellow Fin Tuna), and maybe some Alaskan Crab! Imitation crab is for newbie/beginners. Also too many offerings of cooked Tempura Shrimp added to many raw rolls. Elevate your Sushi Game!

I had the dragon roll. It's basically a California roll with eel on top. I enjoyed the crunch of the cucumber and the glaze was perfect and not too sweet. The sesame chicken was not on the menu but we were still able to order it. Even though it was coated in a honey sauce, the breaded chicken was still crunchy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very juicy and tender. The server was very nice and efficient.
