I was excited to try this place and went prior to the Olivia Dean concert for walk in. The host was not very warm and didn't really greet us when me and my two girlfriends walked in. She said that we can grab any open seating downstairs and order upstairs for drinks/food to bring down. I've seen this place while walking to Chase Center for a Warriors game or on my route of a 5k. Hokkaido Scallop Crudo (5/5): drenched in ponzu and has apple and peppers in it. I thought the pieces amount was great with enough the share. The scallop was packed with flavor although I think I would like a milder sauce. Clam chowder (5/5): Got a bowl to share and it was comforting. Nothing too crazy. Frito Misto (5/5): Perfect appetizers with a variety to share like calamari, shrimp, zucchini, lemon, and jalapeño. Although I do recommend staying away from the lemon. Short rib French dip (4/5): I should've probably gotten seafood at a seafood restaurant, but this wasn't too bad. The meat was just a bit dry. We recently had dinner at Mission Rock before a Valkyries game. Luckily I had made a 5 pm reservation as it was packed! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They started by sitting us on the outside deck but close to the wall without a view. It's a covered patio with heaters, so even on a foggy night, not too cold.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When a guest left one minute later on the balcony close to the water, we changed seats. No one got seated in our previous bad seats the whole time we were there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Strike one. We began our meal with a $16 margarita, which was tasty but fairly small. Husband had two martinis and I had an Aperol spritz later. These four drinks accounted for about $70 of our bill, even though it was happy hour. Strike two. We asked about the $1.50 oyster HH special. Were they small and from Washington state? Our waiter Alex answered yes to both. When our dozen oysters arrived, they were huge, gritty, slimy and inedible. The waiter even said they were "bigger than usual" and he liked them smaller. When we only ate one and said we didn't like them, he didn't take them away nor comp it. Strike three. One the positive side, we split a New England clam chowder soup ($12) and he brought an extra little bowl. The soup included bacon, parsley, oyster crackers and was creamy and very good. I had the ahi tuna ($22), with seasame, soy, avocado, ginger, scallion, and a good amount of wonton chips. Generous portion and fresh fish, but the ahi could have been sliced smaller. Husband had the cerviche ($24) which had a nice serving of seafood, with local rockfish, gulf prawns, avocado, lime, cilantro, and corn tortilla chips. He enjoyed it. Service was pretty slow but they were busy. If I was to go again, I'd stay for the views and not the food. read more

A lovely spot! My friends and I tried Mission Rock Resort on a Saturday at noon and had a pretty good experience. When we arrived, there was no wait and we were immediately sat upstairs, even with no reservation. The entire downstairs area of the restaurant was empty. Upstairs, the patio area was full but only a few people were seated inside. It looked like the side room was reserved for a large party as well. It was quite lively for this quieter area of SF. The view and ambiance was very nice. This restaurant sits right on the water with a beautiful sunny bay view of boaters and kayakers. The view paired well with the delicious food. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict with a Paloma off the Brunch menu. The food came quickly and was lovely. The smoked salmon tasted very fresh. The English muffin was super soft. The eggs were cooked perfectly with a delicious hollandaise sauce over the top. The greens were also a nice touch. The potatoes were great too. They were loaded with paprika for a salty yet smoky flavor. The Paloma was very refreshing. It tasted like they used fresh grapefruit juice! The only issue was that two people at our table ordered cups of clam chowder with their meals but they never arrived. We tried to tell our server but the one time he stopped by our table, he left too quickly to get the message out. When it came time to bring the check, we just asked that the clam chowders be removed from the bill. Regardless, I would love to come back and try more of what Mission Rock has to offer! read more

Frito Misto- super crispy mix of seafood that was wonderful with the two typical sauces. The zucchini and jalapeño was nice as well. I was surprised with the fried lemon too but that was really good surprisingly Blackened Salmon- nice crispy and soft salmon. The rainbow chard and jambalaya were nice pairings with the salmon Ahi Tuna- very flavorful and the chips helped bring that extra texture. Wish there were more chips Burrata- crispy bread with the soft Burrata was a match made well. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for drinks around 3:30pm. The downstairs bar was not open so we went to the bar upstairs. It took the bartender a while to acknowledge us. There were some empty tables on the outdoor balcony but it seems you can only sit there if you order food. So we brought our drinks downstairs and sat on the outdoor back patio. It's covered which was nice because it was a very sunny. There's also heat lamps if it gets cold. We ordered a glass of the Resort Spritz $14 which I think will be my go to drink from now on and a glass of La Crema Chardonnay $13 which was nice too. I work nearby and had been wanting to try this place out for a while, so my friend and I decided dinner by the water on a warm day sounded perfect. If you're heading to Chase Center for a concert/game, or looking for something fun by the water to enjoy seafood, sips, and just enjoy SF, give Mission Rock Resort a try. This was the first time we tried lunch at Mission Rock and it was poppin'. There was a fundraising event happening and the Mayor of SF was actually in attendance, so it was an incredibly fun moment to be present in. People were really loving the space (there's two levels), with views and brews flowing. We ordered a cup of the clam chowder, garlic fries for the table, and split the lobster roll. First time sitting outside and it was so lovely. We're used to SF seafood fun at the Pier, so this is a nice alternative in what's normally a sleepy part of SF on non-game/event days. Everything was so flavorful and fresh ~ they asked if we were splitting the sandwich and went ahead and plated the halves for us with a side salad/fries. I haven't had garlic fries in years ~ these were crisp and packed the punch. The lobster was delicious, the actual bread itself was soft and pillowy. Would love to come back on a Saturday game day to enjoy a few more items from the menu ~ the burger looked juicy! To note, the menu is extensive with a little bit of something for everyone (and non-seafood lovers too!) Brunch on weekends, lunch/dinner (starting on Tuesday), and there's a more casual cafe downstairs with no reservations needed or table side service (order at the counter/first come, first served). Service was very attentive, parking can be found outside or if needed, Chase Center has an indoor lot (a bit pricey). We stopped by after lunch, so we were not super hungry, but wanted to catch up, sip on some bubbly, and enjoy the perfect sunny SF weather. We were greeted right away by the host and directed upstairs. We wanted to sit outdoors, but since there weren't any open tables, we asked if we could stay downstairs instead. They said yes, but here's the odd part, we had to order our drinks upstairs and bring them down ourselves. But also had to close out the bill prior but also had the option to tip, without even getting service. We ordered a bottle of bubbly, and it was a little awkward having to carry the bottle, glasses, and ice bucket down the stairs on our own. Not a huge deal, but definitely unexpected considering we just got a bottle. Still, we were set on staying downstairs (and already paid for parking), so we rolled with it. To snack on, we ordered six oysters and garlic fries, which were surprisingly good! Later, someone had reserved the downstairs area for a private event, so when we went to order a second bottle, they asked us to head back upstairs. Luckily, this time we snagged a table outside and got wings to go with our next bottle. The evening staff seemed a bit friendlier than the earlier crew, but it could've just been timing. Was looking for a place to grab some food before an event at the Chase Center and stumbled across Mission Rock Resort. We got there around 3:00 PM without a reservation and were seated upstairs. The upstairs area has a great nautical vibe with tons of natural light and views of the water. There's outdoor seating on the balcony, but we opted for a table inside with an ocean view -- still very scenic and relaxing. There seemed to be several servers around, but we had to flag someone down to place our order. It felt like there was some miscommunication among the staff, but once our server arrived, the service was solid. We started with a round of cocktails and shared the Petite Shellfish Platter, which came with oysters, prawns, Ahi tuna, and ceviche. Everything was super fresh -- the oysters were delicious (can't remember the origin, but they were quality), the prawns were huge, the tuna was clean and not fishy at all, and the ceviche was flavorful and refreshing. Mission Rock Resort clearly knows how to handle seafood. If you're heading to an event at the Chase Center, it's definitely worth stopping here first for a good meal and great views. read more

We watched two tables that were seated AFTER us receive service BEFORE we did. When our server finally came to our table, there was no greeting, no introduction, and no explanation of the oysters of the day. We overheard other servers providing this basic level of hospitality to neighboring tables, so it was disappointing that we didn't receive the same experience. To make matters worse, our server gave us what felt like a condescending smirk when we ordered non-alcoholic beverages. We ordered the Hokkaido scallop crudo and the petite shellfish plateau. Our drinks arrived first, followed by the shellfish plateau. After waiting quite a while, we had to ask about the scallop crudo. Our server responded that he had placed the order "a while ago" and thought we had already eaten it "really quickly." That response only highlighted how little attention was being paid to our table. We've dined at many seafood restaurants where the entire service team works together to ensure every guest has a great experience. Even if one server is busy, another checks in, clears plates, refills drinks, or follows up on outstanding items. Unfortunately, that level of teamwork was completely absent during our visit. We also waited an unusually long time just to receive our check. The petite seafood plateau itself was enjoyable (I would skip the scallop crudo, it was more ceviche-like as it was drenched in the sauce which overpowered the delicate flavors of the scallops, and not what I expected) but the service significantly detracted from the experience. Given the amount we spent--especially in today's economy--we weren't expecting anything extraordinary. We simply expected the basic hospitality that every guest deserves: attentiveness, professionalism, and courtesy. Unfortunately, that standard wasn't met. read more

There is seating downstairs, seating upstairs, and seating outside on an upstairs balcony. The restaurant overlooks the water, which makes for a beautiful meal! We were there during sunset and very much enjoyed the views. Although the restaurant is large, the person who took our orders was very attentive and came by the table multiple times to check on us. We ordered an assortment of dishes, and they were all excellent! The Mac & cheese was really filling, and the vongole tasted delicious. I came to Mission Rock Resort for a happy hour with my coworkers early on a Friday evening. It's a cute restaurant next to a shipping yard. The view of the bay is pretty although not as aesthetic as some might imagine due to the aforementioned shipyard. I was greeted when I walked in and led upstairs to the group reservation. My table of twelve was seated on the balcony where we had a view of the bay and some seagulls that were hanging around nearby waiting for patrons to toss them scraps. The waiters were attentive and came by to give us menus and take our drink orders. I had a garden party (mint, basil, cucumber, lime) which was refreshing but the basil was a bit strong and I would have liked a little more of the mint flavor. My coworker gave me a sip of her pineapple express (lime, agave, pineapple, jalapeño, tajin) which had a sweet and tart flavor but with a spicy kick from the jalapeño and tajin. We ordered some finger food for the table: garlic fries, Thai fried chicken, oysters, sourdough, and street corn. The garlic fries were alright: nice and crispy exterior with fluffy interior, but nothing to write home about. The street corn was good: sweet corn kernels with slight spicy crema. I especially liked the Thai fried chicken, which had such a crispy skin coated with sweet sauce and sprinkled with nutty sesame seeds and fresh scallions. Perfect spot right across from Chase Center! We came in before a concert after a long drive, a little parched and in need of a quick pick-me-up. Parking was easy, which was a huge plus. They were a bit busy when we arrived, but the front greeter was fantastic, she gave us helpful tips about the area and found us great outdoor seating. The views are so pretty! Juan took our order and made our drinks, and honestly, they were the best Palomas I've had in SF. We kept it light with clam chowder and fries, but everything was delicious. We went back to Mission Rock for dinner again last night. My husband and I both love their clam chowder and both our meals - roasted beet salad and Petrale Sole - were fantastic. Forgot to take pictures of them but took a pic of the delicious chocolate cake for dessert. It is right on SF bay, although no bridges or special scenery other than seagulls, boats and the bay are easily seen from your table if you choose outside seating- there are heaters! We drove up at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening and found parking directly in front on the street. It is free after 6 PM, important to know there was no Valkyries game at Chase that night. We didn't make reservations---so we didn't get seats next to the waterfront---but we could see those seats and appreciate why people love those seats. We ordered two salads. We all ordered appetizers and entrees at the same time. The appetizers came out quickly, but things became pretty spotty once the entrees started arriving. About a third of the table received their food well before everyone else. Most of us tried to wait until the whole table had their meals before eating, but the delays between dishes coming out were so long that some people's food started getting cold. Then more confusion started happening when the staff realized some of the plates being brought to us were actually meant for other tables. It seemed like there was quite a bit of confusion happening in the kitchen. They assured us our actual orders were still coming, but by that point food just kept appearing at the table. We ended up with dishes we never ordered, which honestly felt wasteful because nobody wanted to eat food intended for another table. Of course, once it had touched our table, it made sense they couldn't reserve it elsewhere. By the time everyone finally got their correct meals, some people were no longer hungry, especially after appetizers, drinks, and the long wait in between courses. A lot of food ended up getting packed up because the timing was just so off. It turned into a bit of a debacle for such a special occasion. Had a very wonderful birthday brunch out on the patio deck here. They were kind enough to store a birthday cake I brought and cutting it with no extra fee. Staff overall was kind and accommodating until one of us slipped on something wet on the floor at which point one staff member promptly came up to us immediately denying fault saying she didn't see anything wet on the floor- not a great way to handle the situation; manager came over later to apologize but that was it. Food a drinks were pretty good - the nicoise definitely wasn't a traditional approach and the salmon was overcooked but it was still well seasoned. The garlic fries were what you should write home about! Great fry. I enjoyed my cocktails and the waitress was happy to accommodate my preference on sweetness. This place reminds me of our clubbing days, iykyk, lol. 3.5/5 (strictly for Happy Hour) The HH menu is pretty limited, but the $1.50 oysters make it worthwhile. The $7 house wine is decent, too. I ordered apps outside the HH menu like the rosemary fries, which came out hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned with a subtle rosemary touch. The Ceviche Verde, on the other hand, lacked acidity. Great place for a pre game dinner. We were seated right away on the top floor and the food came out quickly. Mission Rock has a great selection of cocktails; I ended up with this spiced orange cocktail that was literally the epitome of fall. I would come back for the oysters alone. I can't believe I've never been here before. What an awesome location with gorgeous views and lots of seating. What put this place at 5 stars for me was the service. I called ahead of time because I knew they were dog friendly and we had some questions. My pup is still in training and we wanted to come here to see how she did at an outdoor dining experience. The person on the phone said that this was a great time to come by as it wasn't super busy yet, pretty quiet, and that we could have a table in the back. Once we got there, the host said to go to the upstairs deck and pick a table we thought would work for us. We chose the one towards the back away from other people. Our server came by with a bowl of water and a plate of bacon. Amazing!!! I started us off with scallop crudo and I ordered fish tacos. I loved my food. The server said they use rockfish for their tacos and could tell the seafood was super fresh. My company ordered a burger and the lox. I didn't ask but their food was demolished. We had a beautiful view of the water. What an awesome place to grab a drink and a bite to eat to soak in the city. I really also appreciate how they were with my dog. read more

Very busy on a Friday evening especially if there is a game / event playing at chase. We were able to do walk ins at the bar. It's dirty... the bar was all sticky and the menus stuck to it.
