I came here with my girlfriend before a Valkyries game. The location is nice. Right off the bay water. We ate outside because the inside was booked for an event. The service was good. While the line was long, food did come out quick. My girls ordered a cheeseburger and fries, while I did the black bean burger and fries. We got the burgers in half to share them. The fries were perfect. Just the right mixture of crispy on the outside, soft texture on the inside, and the right amount of seasoning. Same with the burgers. Okay YELP you say there is EV charging there? Really? There is NO parking there anymore, so that pretty much means there is NO EV charging there either. This used to be a place I frequented regularly but not anymore because it's impossible to park there now. If you can walk/take public transportation or ride share, this is still a lovely low key venue and a nice place to meet friends after work. If you need your car it's pretty complicated, which is not all on The Ramp. The neighborhood has exploded and there are now so so many parking restrictions due to Chase Center and UCSF....and a cadre of parking enforcers to make sure you abide by their rules. read more

Their dragon fruit cocktail drink was solid. Perfectly sweet, sparkling and a good amount of freshness from the mint. My company rented the whole place for a going away. The workers were friendly and the food was solid. Got a variety of different types of food for the vegetarian lovers or meat lovers. This is a historic restaurant that has been there for 30 years. They have made improvements since I was there last ,20 years ago. The food is average. We had a burger and a bowl of clam chowder. Plenty of clams but slightly runny. The views of the bay are incredible interrupted by a few rusty hulls of old boats a remnant of the past. The Ramp Restaurant is a "go to" neighborhood gem. Causal, rustic setting, umbrellas, views on the San Francisco Bay waterfront, sailboats, ship yard and paddle boarders. The service is prompt, efficient and friendly. We arrived today on a glorious Sunday afternoon on a "Spring Forward" March 2026. Our hostess was very accommodating and seated me under the huge tent since it was going to require a 20 minutes wait to sit outside. They use to have on site parking when we 1st started eating at The Ramp 25 years ago. Now there is street parking only. Our hostess was very kind and offered to more our sitting outside on the deck. I quickly accepted her offer and was seated overlooking the boat dock and order our drinks before my wife had joined me from parking. I order a Blood Mary and my wife a Dragon Fruit My wife ordered the Fried Chicken Sando which looked delicious. I ordered very amble huge shrimp cocktail and oysters of the half shell along with Old Bay fries. I didn't order an alcoholic drink myself, but my colleagues did, and after tasting theirs I can see why they kept ordering more rounds. Delicious and clearly well-made. Food: I went with the clam chowder bread bowl. It was decent. Warm and comforting on a cold night but nothing particularly memorable. Service: Fantastic service all around. Our bartender/server was incredibly kind, attentive, and patient. Another staff member even offered to take a group photo when he saw us step outside to admire the view. My sister-in law and I met my brother-in law here for lunch. It was spot that my recently departed came to with his brother. We are still reeling with the sudden departure, and trying to get together regularly. Brother-in-law warned us this is a different place than when they would go as the owner died and it was bought out and changed a bit. I've not been to the part of the City in ages. There is no parking and the street parking you can forget about that, but we found a place. Then you have to walk through the parking lot, which is reserved for rented storage and what looks like it used to be park of the restaurant lot has picnic table seating and umbrellas. However we got a table near the water and sat down. Service is a bit slow. Menu is not overwhelming and apparently they no longer have happy hours where oysters are a$1 and are MP. The MP apparently that day was $4 a oyster. Ordered calamari for the table, which was ok. I ordered steamed mussels which had and a curry twist to it. (the new owner is Indian). They both ordered fish and chips which looked actually better than what I had eaten at the Spinnaker a few weeks prior. Will come again for the ambiance. All three dishes came with fries which like a cajun spice on it. Over all the food was decent. It's very dog friendly and I appreciate that the GM made this woman leash her little dog which was met with a glare. If you're looking for a spot to grab a quick bite and drink before a Warriors game, this is a great spot! Came about a couple hours before the Warriors game and were able to get seated right away. We got a round of drinks, and shared the roasted vegetables and the house chips. The roasted vegetables were simple, but super delicious. After a long day of drinking, it was definitely a good palette cleanser. The house chips were also super good, but were not vinegary as advertised, which was a bit disappointing. I've been coming here for more than 25 years. I can't beat the location for a dive bar and restaurant. The food has never been high end but it used to be plentiful and great friendly staff. There were a few years where it tried to go up-market, and had a bunch of fancy appetizers and cocktails. Then it settled back into its regular good pub grub. Now, however, the menu is similar but nothing is quite as good. The veggie burger is wet, the lump crab in the crab roll or Louis is I'm-not-sure-what-but-not-good. The poke bowl lacks poke, and the crab chowder lacks crab. At least the fries are still good, I guess? The Ramp used to my go to place for good food while sitting by the bay. Today, I went there, hoping to sit by the bay for lunch. There was a table under an umbrella that was completely in the shade. That's exactly what I was looking for. The person who wanted to seat me said he could not let me have that table since they might have a need for a table for four people. The lunch rush was over since it was about 2 PM Instead, he offered me a very small table that was mostly in the sun. He also offered me to sit and what might be called a new "room" surrounded by plastic. I said no thank you I would be further the table I wanted. Since he was unyielding, I left. About six months ago, we had another unpleasant experience trying to get a preferred table. We were offered to sit in what used to be the parking lot on artificial turf. We said no thanks, in spite of that, I thought I would try again today. By the way, there is no more customer parking. There is a sign entering the lot saying it is for employee parking only now. read more

The service was pretty quick but the real star was the fish and chips! The batter on the fish was amazing, it had a super light crisp and did not feel heavy when you bite into it. They say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." I guess because a basic lemon is just sour. And that, my friends, was partially my experience at The Ramp--a wee bit sour. Here's the skinny: Imagine RSVP'ing online, taking BART/Uber over, and then standing in the frigid cold to watch the NBA Dunk Contest. And that was the sour part of my experience here. This was supposed to be one of the biggest weekends in sports history, and the failure to provide basic heating to their outdoor space shows, IMO, a lack of concern for the general welfare of the public. Yes, they had patio heaters in the back of the venue, but there weren't any TVs out there to watch the main event. Indoor seating was a COVID-fest waiting to happen, as people were cramming into the bar area. No bueno. The indoor bar was packed out--couldn't get a drink to save my life. The TV at the bar was like a 30-inch computer monitor from 2002. SMH! Yet, as I mentioned above, there was some good (lemonade) to report: *The DJ was lit--literally and figuratively--as he was safe and warm indoors. *They had a food vendor that provided pretty decent bites. Her communication was horrible, but that deserves a separate review. *A mini-bar with a shorter line was set up outside. Drink options were very limited, though. All in all, I'm definitely not scratching this venue off my list of places to hit up, particularly on a game night, as it is within walking distance to Chase Center. On a sunny/warm day, I'm sure this spot garners a better review. It sits on the ocean's edge, with a nice deck to soak in views of downtown SF and the East Bay mountains. Can't beat that with a bat. If I had to do it all over again, I'd bring a flask and layer up with a puffer coat. Then, my wrath would be diminished, and all would be well. Or just get those darn space heaters already! Sheesh! Is this really how you make (and keep) customers? It had been a few years since my last visit to The Ramp, so a friend and I thought we'd return for happy hour. Clearly, we misunderstood the concept of "happy." First challenge: parking. The Ramp no longer has any, and the surrounding area is now a sea of meters. After circling for nearly 30 minutes I finally gave up and paid--just so we could make it in time for happy hour. Spoiler: that effort was wasted. We sat down at 4:54. The server came by at 4:57--not to take our order, but to ask if my dog wanted water. Don't get me wrong, I love that my dog was treated like royalty. I just wish the paying customers got the same urgency. By the time she came back, we were ready to order--only to be told it was 5:01 and happy hour was over. Apparently, the dog made the cutoff. We did not. Let's be real: when customers are seated before 5:00 and ready to order, maybe--just maybe--you take their order first and hydrate the dog second? Thinking this might be a one-off lapse in judgment, I called the manager the next day. Instead of any understanding, I got an explanation about their "strict 5:00 PM cutoff." Point completely missed. I explained that the issue wasn't the policy--it was the priority. The server had time to get dog water but not take a simple drink order before the deadline. His response? "Lady, what do you want me to do?" That pretty much said it all. For the record: an apology, a little accountability, and maybe a small gesture--a partial refund, a discounted drink, or appetizer for next time--would have gone a long way. But no need to worry about that anymore--there won't be a next time. Bloody Marys and burgers be damned. At least my dog had a great experience. read more

I ate here since I was coming from a conference and wanted to avoid traffic coming home. The Service ‍‍‍ They wouldn't even let me sit outside to eat at the bar and ran out of seats on one side, so confusing since there's apparently two different places to pay between bar and restaurant. I think they ran out of food or something at some point and stopped taking food orders at around 7PM. They weren't the most helpful with the menu about giving other options and recommendations and really seemed neglectful in customer service since there was such a huge crowd, they didn't give me a number and I had to ask for one just to make sure I was served. I was a little disappointed but understand the end of the week dinner rush, but still expected to be treated like the other customers. I was pretty hungry wirh allergies so tolerated what felt like an extremely tortuous and long wait. Food Taste The meat was ridiculously overpriced. It was cooked ok but I wasn't impressed. It also had black beans melted everywhere but they didn't have it separated (it was in a giant melting pot), and hard to pack and take home as they didn't have plastic sauce boxes for all their sauces and sides. Guac and chips were good. The meat apparently had peppers that appeared to be cactus. I asked them to remove the shrimp which they did and I ended up having chicken, steak, with some cheese (seemed like giant blocks of something kinda like mozzarella). Ambiance I'd come here again for the ambience and order something cheaper like fish and chips and be very specific about where I sit and come way earlier because this place tends to be popular with crowds of people. The indoor area also had TVs. So it was a nice touch. But hardly enough to compensate. Verdict ‍ I'd give these folks another shot, it was probably just a busy day. read more

My finance and I came on a Friday during happy hour and got fast service from our amazing server. The prices in the happy hour menu were awesome and the food tasted amazing! I recommend sitting on the dock if the weather permits. It was windy the day we went, and we were unable to use the umbrella to block the sun because the wind would blow the umbrella away. Other than that, it was an amazing experience. We ordered a margarita and beer from the happy hour menu along with Ahi tuna, tacos, seasoned "new bay" fries. Loved it!!!! read more

I came here for a weekday lunch and there was no wait. They have indoor seating under a tent canopy with water views and outdoor seating by the water. We had chips and guacamole and calamari to start. The guacamole had a bit too much lime but was fresh. The calamari was tasty but was on the spicy side with the jalapeños mixed in. There was also fried lemon slices in the calamari which were edible and interesting. I'd advise not eating the lemon peel as it was bitter. They were out of seafood risotto and seafood linguine. But I was very impressed with my entree of grilled salmon in capers sauce. It was delicious and perfectly cooked and came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I'm still thinking about it. No parking on site so you'll either need to find street parking (mostly metered) or go to one of the nearby UCSF parking lots. The biggest issue was the service; I'm guessing they were severely understaffed because it took forever for someone to take our order, bring out our food, bring our check, etc. The food ranged from average to above average. I tried the onion rings which were a bit too heavy on the batter (eventually tasted like I was just eating fried dough) and quite overpriced at $12. I also ordered the ceviche, which was solid, although nothing to write home about. It also came with nacho chips which were under-salted. I'd had a late lunch so my plan was just to have a drink and maybe nosh on an appetizer. The service on the patio was great and my friends ended up ordering a few shared plates for us to dine on. Of what I tasted, everything was good but nothing was memorable. I might sing a different tune when visiting on an empty stomach. My cocktail was good and the vibe is great for people watching and catching up, especially when the weather is nice. Let's see. Arrived at 10:20, Waited 10 mins to be seated with at least a dozen tables open. The host/manager was cleaning menus instead of talking to the people in the line to let them know it would be a while. Finally seated and ordered food at 10:45. Drink (just one), came at 11. Other tables were finally seated. 11:15 host/manager again disappeared. Line is now out the door. He was at the bat helping with drinks, because people who got tired of waiting were know lined up at the bar. So he is swamped. 11:30 asked for our food, and came right out. Not a good thing! We ordered avocado toast and truffle fries. Apps, 30 mins for apps. Over salted fries and under salted Avo toast. Which was made with guacamole. Did I mention that he refused to seat anyone unless they had The exact number of people to the exact count of chairs at the tables. I have never experienced this ever. I was a restaurant manager, never would I have refused a requested for a specific section. Gina, our server. Amazing, she was patient and sweet and was the ONLY one communication with the tables and lines as they were all mostly frustrated with the unnecessary self created chaos.
