I would give zero stars if I could. I never received the delivery of my order. The shipper shows a signature that was NOT mine. The shipper said "sorry, nothing we can do...contact the seller". I sent several emails to you. No response. So, I did a "charge back". You responded to my credit card company that it was "delivered" I wouldn't know how the gin tasted because I never received the package. GLS said it was "delivered" (it wasn't) and "signed" (it wasn't my signature). I doubt you will read this because you didn't read my previous emails. read more

This store runs an online business called Sip Whiskey. They do not fulfill orders completely and will not refund money for unfulfilled orders. They have online bots and you cannot talk to a human. This is a scam. read more

Another one of those retailers that for whatever reason thinks it's acceptable not to contact the customer at all, after failing to ship an order out due to items being out of stock. And no surprise that things wind up out of stock. After attempting to order an out-of-stock item, I went back to the store website and that same item still showed up as in-stock and I was able to add it to cart again. After playing around a bit I found out just how much of a joke this store's website interface and inventory management is. The website literally allowed me to add up to ONE MILLION of that item to the cart. In fact this seems to be the best way to tell if this store actually has something is in stock. For some items, if you try to add a huge number of them to the cart, it'll automatically reduce the number to a certain amount. I'm guessing this is because that item is actually in stock and that number is how much of that thing they have, so it won't allow you to order more. But if it's not in-stock, then apparently you can just add 1,000,000 of it. ROFL. So yeah, you can either do the work their website/inventory management should be doing by trying out my "1,000,000 bottle method", or you could just choose not to deal with incompetent time-wasters. read more

I have used these fine people for their online whisky service. And they have come through for me every time. I've been in the industry for over 40yrs and I know that things don't always go smoothly but in the end MissionTrails has always gotten me the items that I couldn't get anywhere else and if you are patient it will happen for you too. I'd give them 0 stars if it were an option. I ordered 3 nice bottles with delivery for my Mom on her 95th birthday. Nothing was delivered and when I got off work I checked back with them. I was told that 2 of the bottles were not available. No mention of that when I placed my order and no communication all day until I called. When I asked them to deliver the one bottle that they did have, they said they could not deliver it until tomorrow. The salesman couldn't care less about what had happened. Mission Trails CANCELED my order with a false reason. Reason being "at my request". I assumed the scotch sold out like last time, and maybe the reason was an error... I purchased a bottle of tequila that was bottle in a limited edition clay bottle. The clay cap arrived broken. The shipping box was in perfect condition and it was packed in peanuts. When I spoke to them regarding the broken cap they refused to refund or exchange the bottle.Don't buy from them! They refuse to refund or replace damaged bottles! So I've been patiently waiting on my two bottles of Quita Penas tequila. A bottle I've been searching for three years and finally found it on this site. Low and behold I order it from their website by the same name above. I ordered this on the 11th of December one week goes by two weeks so I finally email them some guy named Sam Moshe said they didn't have it in stock so we're refunding you your money. OH! Ok! Good to know "I" had to call and ask about "MY" bottles to get "MY" refunded. well a few more days roll by I spoke to a woman at their store I forget her name. Well she said it'll take 3-5 business days to get my money back that was last week. So at this point I'm now pissed and disappointed on this Monday morning because I still haven't gotten my refund. I'm happy that a friend of mine went to TJ and actually found the bottles so I was able to have them for Christmas but shame on this company for bad salesmanship and not providing the consumer their product or refund on time. I am a 100% disables Marine and tried parking in the handicap spot but couldn't because the owners car was in the spot. I politely asked him if he was handicap and he said no, if I had a problem with it I can "fuck off" I started recording him and he tried knocking my phone out of my hand and said "do you know how much I'm worth"? Wow I will NEVER go back and suggest no one else does. What owner parks in handicap, then tell a disabled veteran to fuck off because I wanted to park there. First off, the name has changed with the new ownership and it's now Mission Trails Wine and Spirits. So don't show up expecting sandwiches or a lot of food options anymore. The new owner has nice new signage out front and a completely revamped interior. A HUGE craft beer selection and more wine and liquors than before as well. The prices are very competitive and I will for sure be popping in to grab beer or wine on the regular now. Really happy to have this selection so close by. read more

I went into Mission Trails Market looking for a snack but unless I was going to snack on a whole bunch of booze... it was not really a good place to look. The back wall has a very nicely arranged selection of alcohol. But there is only one tiny fridge with a slim selection of drinks and not very many snacks to go with it. There's a lot of empty space in the store that could be filled with tasty morsels if you ask me. Location was convenient which was right off of Mission Gorge Road on my way to hike the trails nearby. I picked one of the two flavors of vitamin water that they had and went to go make my purchase. "$1.74 please" said the clerk. I handed him two dollars and he handed me a quarterback. I may be blind and bad at math but I do know that they kept my penny!! If any of you have ever watched Office Space you will know that this is a great way to make millions and millions of dollars one penny at a time. This place is probably the best liquor store in San Diego for rare bourbon! Amongst the unique rare bourbon they have an online special going, if you sign up for the online account you get $10 off your first purchase. So I signed up, selected what I want, since I live two miles away I drove there, and scored a bottle of Colonel EH Taylor small Batch Bourbon out the door for $53 ! I was very excited by an order that I placed on line and paid for it. Even more excited when I got a text from them saying that the order was in process. I waited, waited, waited, etc.(they guarantee one hour delivery) and finally called them. First they said they had no order, then they said maybe they did, and then they said they were out of what I ordered. I told them that I would wait to get it but they tried to sell me something else. I am/was very disappointed with the site and would recommend calling them and ordering rather than the on-line gimmick. Then keep your fingers crossed. read more

This is my go to shop when looking for a great beverage. I almost hate given Don a 5 star rating as I would hate for my hidden gem of a bottleshop to become too public. Don has a great selection of beer, wine, and spirits. He is always willing to make a few suggestions when you are looking for that perfect drink. He is honest in his opinion of a beverage and has had me put beers back as he has beers available that he knows I would like better. I live in the housing division behind this shop, and was in the mood for a walk. I remembered seeing some of the good review for this place, so I ended up here. I am SO glad I did! The guy working the register was very friendly, and hit it off with everyone that walked into the store. After wondering around for like, forever, I decided to get a sandwich. I ended up getting the T4 (Turkey, Barbecue, Veggies, and Provalone) which was literally the best sub I've ever had in my life. This would have been a 5 star visit, but I'm not completely sure the cashier washed his hands before making my sandwich, which was super concerning. Then again, he could have slipped over to the sink or rubbed on some hand sanitizer without me noticing. As long as people make sure the food handler is wearing gloves or has washed their hands, this is bound to be a positive visit! read more

Can't go wrong with this place. Their beer selection is amazing. And their customer service is deff worthy of a 5 star rating. The store was recently taken over by new owners and they've improved the shop by a lot. Floors are new, all the cooler doors are new, more inventory, and I'm sure they have more in store. overall a very great location. So these folks also run the website, sipwhiskey.com. I was really excited when I found they carried Traverse City Whiskey Co. whiskey. I placed an order on Nov 17 for 3 different bottles. They advertise 3-5 days shipping, so when around 9 days rolled around I reached out. No response. A few days later reached out again and asked for an explanation. They responded with "We apologize for the delay.  Your order is set to ship out early next week." Sure enough, I got a tracking number right away. That was Nov 29. That said, no explanation of why it was taking so long. On December 4 I asked for a real explanation. While I had a tracking number, it was only that a label had been created, it had not shipped. Well, it has finally shipped, should be here on December 13, nearly a month after ordering. No explanation though from sipwhiskey.com or Mission Trails. I'm bummed...they had some great stuff, but they didn't earn any repeat business from me. Buyer beware. read more

Makes me sad...if you are from the neighborhood 10 years ago...this was a great store...I use to walk to the store and pick up a sandwich...some wine...or whatever friends wanted to drink...we did not have to drive...or Uber for another bottle... Amazing store with a friendly atmosphere. They have a very wide variety of beers and a large selection of liquor as well. It's owned by an amazing family. The owners are awesome peeps and incredibly knowledgeable in both spirits and craft beer. The allocated beer selection is as good as it gets here. Also, not many places in San Diego have barrel picks of both Elijah Craig and Knob Creek! I'm expecting big things from these guys once the tasting room opens next year. read more

Don, the owner, puts a great amount of effort to get the hard to find products and always suggests something fantastic whenever I have questions. I had some issues with stock for a specific whiskey that I ordered. They tried EVERYTHING in to try and get it to me (this is during the COVID-19 pandemic mind you) but were still unable to. I ended up getting a phone call (a guy named Sam, I think) that apologized for me not getting my order, recommended a different scotch, and had it hand-delivered to my house within 20 minutes of the phone call. This used to be my favorite party store. The manager was great and they had a wide variety of craft beers and wine. The new management has ruined this place. The new manager is rude. The dates on most of the craft beers are over a year old. This is an excellent example of how a new manager and/or owner can ruin a hidden gem. I now avoid this place at all costs. read more

Can't say anything about whatever this place used to be. However, I have been in twice this week and happy both times. I originally went in to pick up some Founder's Breakfast Stout, and ended up striking up a good discussion about stouts in general, received some excellent recommendations, then got tipped off to some limited release items coming in which I returned to purchase.
