The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the music was at a perfect volume, quiet enough to have a conversation and catch up. We visited to celebrate a birthday, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. For drinks, I ordered the Crime of Passion, which was delicious with just the right amount of kick. To start, we shared the beets and burrata along with the crudo. Both appetizers were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For mains, I tried the truffle scarpinoc pasta and the Texas Wagyu short rib Wellington, which is carved tableside. The pasta had good flavor, but I could barely taste any truffle, and the portion was on the smaller side. The Wellington, on the other hand, was huge, definitely shareable between 2-3 people, and very satisfying. They also brought out the charred broccolini for the table, which I thought was tasty. Omg.. Mister Charles!! We had such a great evening here over the holidays!! We made a trip to Dallas to visit fam, but also made an evening out of the 12 Days of Christmas at the arboretum and Mister Charles! This place came highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint. We had reservations but our table was not yet ready when we arrived. We stood around for maybe 10 minutes before they seated us! Service was on point after that and they took our orders and checked in frequently. Food came at a very good pace! Ambiance was very different on the two sides of the restaurant.. one side was dark and gave off old steak house vibes while the other was bright with the black and white tiles, chandelier and greenery! I believe there was an upstairs dining area as well! 1. Caesar salad - was pretty large and can be shared between 2-3 people! It was fresh crispy greens and nicely dressed! 2. The frickin Corn and Truffle Beignets! These didn't look like much but they were frickin good! Get them and thank me later! That chive creme fraiche made the dish!! 3. Truffle Pasta - it was the special of the night and because I have a love for truffles and all things carbs, this is what I got! It was good but the truffle flavor was very light, even with the tableside shaving of fresh truffles.. 4. The Texas Waygu Short Rib Wellington was the dish of the night! Served and cut tableside, it was a gigantic portion! I'm not sure a single person could finish it. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly on the inside, which is hard to do when you need to cook the flakey pastry to perfection as well! After trying to get a reservation for a while, we finally got a reservation at Mister Charles. This restaurant has received a lot of praise and recognition online and from the Michelin Guide. The atmosphere in here is one of my favorites I've ever been to. Our servers were also kind and helpful, but did not intrude on the dinner. We started off with the beef carpaccio and the corn and truffle beignets which were incredible. We then got the Spicy Lumache Arrabbiata and Truffle Scarpinocc pastas. I thoroughly enjoyed both but enjoyed the spicy pasta a little bit more. For a drink, I got the Highland Park pharmacy penicillin, which was amazing and I would 100% recommend. For dessert we got the baked Alaska which had a great presentation and was executed well. In the future, I think I would prefer the chocolate cake for dessert, but did not regret the decision. read more

Wonderfully thinly sliced beef with capers, and I have no idea what else was on it that makes this has a little kick and nice balance of crunchy texture and delicious meat! It's so good! Beef wellington- 9.5/10. Short ribs were nicely cooked with perfect fat to meet ratio. Pastry crust was flaky and delicious! Gravy sauce was a little salty but still delicious. I think this was the star the show! The Dover sole with lobster sauce is chef's kiss -9/ 10 I just wish they didn't take away the sauce. I should have asked them to leave the sauce in the table. It was wonderful!! Although they removed most of the bones, I still found some in my plate but not a big deal. If it was removed perfectly, I think I would give it a solid 10. Pomme alligot - 8/10! Beautiful cheesy malty mash potatoes!! Great side dish Mushrooms- 7/10 a wonderful addition to my already full plate! The service was phenomenal: our waiter noticed our table was a bit shaky and promptly moved us to another table to fix it and brought an appetizer on the house for the "trouble". We were there celebrating and all the employees seemed to know which was lovely. The food was outstanding. I called about an hour before our reservation to request a booth on the light side of the restaurant and a custom menu wishing her a HBD ... they were so kind and accommodating. Met a girlfriend for lunch here a few weeks ago. The interior of this place is really impressive; there's two sides and two moods to the restaurant. The area by the bar is very bright and airy, the area by the kitchen is very moody and intimate. I really thought that was neat. We ended up sitting on the moody side. Our server was excellent, gave great recommendations. We basically tried all the canapés. The striploin and egg salad were my favorites. For my entree I ordered the scallops. Surprisingly it was a really nice portion and the flavor profile was really good. Presentation was great, taste was great, portion to price... just depends on what you order. One of the most beautiful restaurants I've visited. Arguably the best looking restaurant in Dallas, Mister Charles oozes elegance and class without succumbing to the trap of seeming stuffy or old fashioned. The food was masterfully well made, with my steak stealing the show. I was not expecting a 22 oz ribeye to be so well made and was expecting to enjoy a delicious but unremarkable piece of meat. I was delighted to find a dish with cascading and with interesting flavors that far surpassed your typical steakhouse. The potatoes that came with it were excellent, as was the beef wellington. However, despite the beef wellington being their signature dish, I found the steak to be much more impressive. We also enjoyed the octopus, which was flavorful and tender. The beignets were good but nothing special. I had the foie gras canape and found the single bite to be worth every penny of the $8 price tag. We tried each of the desserts and the culinary skills shined in each dish. The baked Alaska is Instagram worthy and oh so delicious with that great banana flavor. Although I personally loved the chocolate cake the most. The wine list is high quality and not too outrageous. The availability to half bottles was much appreciated, especially considering the quality of the offerings. Wine lovers won't be disappointed. The service was professional, attentive, and above par. However, it was slow, which resulted in the only blemish for the evening. We had reservations at 7:15 and were not seated until after 7:45. The restaurant made up for it by serving 4 truffle cheddar and prosciutto grilled cheese canapes (which were amazing). Nor were we the only ones waiting. However, it seems that the restaurant may be waiting too long to take orders and moving slower than it should. But who cares? As long as you get a seat, it's worth the wait. 9/10 read more

We had a 9:45pm reservation Friday night and they were sweet enough to seat us earlier when we came at 8:30. Ty was our waiter and he was the BEST! All the food that he recommended to us were so delicious. We were celebrating our 33 years anniversary so he offered us champagne, extra hor d'oevres, extra side and a surprised dessert. The service there was impeccable. They changed our plates after each course and offered to clean my cell phone when I dropped it to the floor. Everything was perfect. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday, and I really liked how for larger parties they had round tables instead of rectangular tables for a more "together" feeling. We shared the beignet appetizer which tasted good, especially the sauce that was used. I ordered the spicy arriabiatta pasta dish which I think had just the right amount of kick and was also very filling despite looking small. Service was super great and attentive - I don't think anyone's water cup ever got less than half full. They also brought out little stools for us to put our bags on which was a thoughtful touch. If anyone at our table during the visits expressed any hesitation on whether they liked a drink, it was swiftly replaced. If someone has been between two types of wine, they have brought out a taste of each. Truly remarkable service. The food is excellent. I have repeated my order a number of times but have had a number of the pastas, the Wellington, Dover sole, many appetizers and all were great. The host was incredible--truly one of the nicest, sweetest, and friendliest people I've encountered at a hostess stand. I chose to sit at the bar, and the bartenders reminding me of the kind you'd find abroad, their knowledge of the menu and drinks was outstanding. To start, I tried the bite-sized "Bites" (I can't recall or pronounce their official name, so I'll stick with "Bites" ). Each was delightful: grilled cheese, caviar egg salad, and whipped foie gras. Just note, they're single bites--ideal for one person each. For an appetizer, I went with the beef carpaccio. While it was decent, I wouldn't order it again. The toppings--cream, capers, black pepper, and fried onions--overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the carpaccio itself. If you're considering the lamb Wellington, be aware it's a dish for two and is the size of a football! For my entrée, I opted for the truffled scarpinocc, a pasta similar to ravioli but with a firmer, more al dente texture. Unfortunately, the truffle flavor didn't come through for me, as it was overshadowed by a strong lemon note--perhaps from zest. I think the dish would be elevated with some shaved truffle on top, even if it increased the $28 price. Having the option to add shaved truffle would have truly made my day. I give a solid 4 stars and the comment that is pricey for what you get or shall I say the value of each dish is for the benefit of the owner vs the person eating. read more

Sometimes it is difficult to find parking, especially during prime dinner time, but there is usually either street parking or garage parking in the Knox Henderson area. The restaurant feels very upscale when you walk in, and the staff have always been super kind and helpful. Also the service is above and beyond. We started with the Prime Rib Carpaccio. The beef was rich, tender and sliced paper thin. One of our servers brought over thick pieces of buttery focaccia-delicious! I had the Uni Shells Carbonara with pancetta as my entree. The first few bites were nice-pasta cooked al dente, creamy and peppery sauce, perfectly chewy pancetta. The next couple of bites, sadly, were oily and buttery. I brought the leftovers home, and although I LOVE leftovers, I couldn't eat this because it twas overly rich. Husband had the special-swordfish with tandoori spices. No, there was not any heat. No, the flavor was bland. Yes, he was disappointed. So the last reason for this glamorous restaurant with outstanding service to receive 4 instead of 5 stars is this: upon making reservations, my hub was asked if we were celebrating. We took my family of 6 for a special Christmas dinner and everything was delicious. We had high expectations and I'm happy to say they delivered. We had an 8pm reservation on a Friday night. We arrived a few minutes after 8 and our table wasn't ready so we found a great spot at the heaven side bar (there are 2 sides - one with white decor, called heaven and one with dark decor called hell). Both were super cool. We had a couple of cocktails at the bar (the root beer old fashioned and the air mail). Both were delicious. Upon being seated we were greeted by our server and she was great. We got the A5 canapés, the crab cake, and the tuna crudo as apps. All were super tasty and delicious. We then had the mashed potatoes, the surf & turf, the swordfish, and the spicy pasta. The only small hiccup was that all our food came out but the pasta didn't. We were expecting the pasta to come out right after the apps but it never did. We reminded our server and she brought it out pretty quick. She also didn't ask how I wanted the steak cook but I told her medium rare anyways. Everything was amazing. All the food was perfectly prepared and we enjoyed every bite. We also got the table side sundae, the chocolate dessert, and they compd us a cookie type dessert too. I see why it is so hard to get into this place! I usually make reservations way in advance, but I only had 3 weeks until my Dallas trip and there were no reservations for a party of 2 on a Saturday to be had. I kept checking everyday the week of and luckily I have Global Access on Resy so I setup a notification. On the morning of, I was notified of availability! My persistence paid off and it was well worth the effort. When you enter you are immediately taken in by the beautiful renaissance decor, the flowers , the vibe and the music! What I also did not know is that they have a dark side and a white side. After taking our tour with one of the hostesses, she explained to us that it's a play on the two owners as one is quiet and reserved while the other is light, fun and bubbly. The sides have been dubbed the devil and the angel. If you are on a date, I think the devil (dark) side is appropriate. Due to the fact that I was with a girlfriend, we requested the angel (light) side and were accommodated thanks to Tammy. Speaking of the staff, they were wonderful and it is obvious that management takes a lot of pride in making sure that they were trained well. Yann was our waiter and was very attentive throughout our dining experience. We started with Airmail drinks which is a nice rendition of the French 75. For apps, we had the tuna crudo and corn beignets that were both excellent. If I had to choose between the two, the tuna crudo would be my pick. For our main meal, we split the carbonara with added shaved truffles as well as a side of the pommes aligote. Our main meal was incredible but sadly, we were too stuffed to order dessert. It's definitely a really beautiful restaurant, and I love that there's a "dark" and "light" vibe in the restaurant. If you wanted a brighter atmosphere, you can ask to be seated where we were sat. If you prefer a cozier and intimate vibe, the left side of the restaurant is shrouded in almost complete darkness. The food is a hit or a miss, and for the prices...perhaps it shouldn't be? My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the little caviar and egg salad toasted brioches. They were great tiny bites, and I wish I could've eaten about 10 of these. The carbonara was extremely salty, and even splitting one... I couldn't done without this. The restaurant interior was homey and welcoming; the half circle booth seating was really neat. The staff was super friendly, took time to introduce the various menu items to us. However, the entrees definitely surprised us. The one thing we all noticed was that it was way too salty. I had to drink lots of water throughout the meal. My favorite part of this restaurant is probably the atmosphere and the interior of the restaurant. Love the front bar area section, it's beautiful! It's definitely a great and intimate date night spot! All the food was very flavorful and delicious! I loved the canapés! The caviar one was so good. All of their pasta dishes were cooked perfectly but the uni carbonara a little salty and I wish there was more uni taste! But that's probably just my own personal preference. The only thing is I do think it's pretty overpriced for some of the dishes. For example the lamb Wellington was delicious and it's a good size but for almost $100 for one dish, I'll probably try some of the other things on the menu. Also the baked Alaska dessert was so cool! They pour fire over it which was exciting to watch~ I am okay with spending money on good food so I do think it was worth it!
