My friend and I were taking a leisurely walk on the beach to get fresh air and unwind. She immediately heard the ice cream truck music and was giddy. She jumped up and said "Oh, I hope it's Mr. Softee!!" I'm like "what's that?!" (only moving here 1.5 years ago and never seeing an ice cream truck). We've used mister Softee for events at school, and they're so easy to work with. I highly recommend asking them to come to your fundraiser. But book a year in advance, we learned the hard way. Plus, it was definitely not thoroughly chilled and melted immediately even though it was a brisk and breezy South SF day. It was frankly disgusting and I threw the two chocolate dipped cones away. Others in my family also found the taste revolting. My grandkids ate the sprinkled cones and didn't get sick so I guess they were at least safe to eat even though they don't have refined tastebuds like us adults. That's one of the very few (if only) memorable experiences in my life where I couldn't finish a frozen desert. Plus, the cones are exceedingly expensive compared to Coldstone, for example. Avoid this truck's softees if you can. If only I had known.... The server and softee preparer was very nice, though, bumping this review up to two stars from none. They play a tune when they drive by that is hard to miss. They have a nice selection of options such as cones, floats, shakes, and sundaes. I do believe they only have two flavors of soft serve though, being vanilla and chocolate. I opted for their pineapple sundae which came with a generous amount of both pineapple and soft serve. It certainly isn't a light dessert with the amount that they give, but it can certainly be a delight on occasion especially on a hot summer day. The quality of the soft serve and fruit is nothing extraordinary by any means, but I still found it fun, enjoyable, and refreshing. I did really enjoy the mix of the sweet and sour pineapple taste with the creamy vanilla taste and texture of the soft serve.
