First time trying this and it was delicious. I asked for a milkshake with Oreos and they asked if I wanted vanilla or chocolate. I have been hearing great things about Mister Softee and was excited I was finally able to try it!

Chocolate Sundae with Nuts
Renee B.

Caught the Mister Softee truck outside Palo Alto Medical and decided to treat myself after a lab appointment. Great decision. The Chocolate Nut Sundae was everything you want from classic soft serve -- smooth texture, generous chocolate syrup, and a satisfying crunch from the nuts. Simple, nostalgic, and perfectly executed. Quick service, friendly vibe, and honestly a bright spot in the middle of a medical day. Would absolutely grab it again.

There are two sounds that trigger immediate action: a fire alarm... and the unmistakable jingle of Mr. Softee. The second one? We sprint. It starts faintly--like a distant childhood memory--and suddenly it's a full neighborhood-wide treasure hunt. Shoes half on, wallet optional, dignity abandoned. You just run toward the music. And every time, it delivers. The soft serve is ridiculously creamy--no pretense, just pure nostalgic perfection. My go-to is the classic swirl (chocolate + vanilla), but the real crowd-pleaser in our house is the cherry hard candy shell--that glossy, crackly coating that shatters just right and instantly transports you back to being 10 years old with zero responsibilities. There's something for every mood too--cones, cups, over-the-top sundaes if you're feeling ambitious--but honestly, it's the experience that hits hardest. That spontaneous joy. That neighborhood-wide excitement. That tiny adrenaline rush when you think you might miss it. Mr. Softee isn't just ice cream--it's a full-on happiness delivery system with a soundtrack. 5 stars. Always worth the sprint.

Excuse the half eaten picture of the cherry sundae - but it looked so good I had to dig in immediately. I was visiting Don Biddle park when I heard the ice cream truck playing. I thought I was a regular truck at first, but was pleasantly surprised to see soft serve! My kids loved seeing the cones being dipped. The cashier/service was super nice and patient with my order (I had 4 children with me). Cups/cones are about $5/each. And they were delicious. I'm following them on IG so I can be sure to catch them again!

Mister Softee is such a neighborhood staple nowadays. The moment you hear that familiar jingle, you know you're in for a classic soft-serve treat done right. Whether it's a sundae or a perfectly blended milkshake, the quality is consistently spot-on. The app is a surprisingly great tool for tracking down the truck, and it almost feels like they know when you're following them because they're quick to stop and serve. The service is friendly, the favorites are dependable, and that unmistakable music makes every visit a simple, joyful experience. Mister Softee also offers private event bookings. I booked them for a birthday party, and all the kids were happy. Booking was easy and conveniently handled by submitting an online form, with clear confirmation and follow-up via email. A great experience for kids and adults alike!

Oh what a yummy ice cream this truck had and it was perfectly located outside the Pacifica Taco Bell Catina right by the shore. It was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the ice cream after the gloomy and rainy Bay Area weather. Service was fast and prompt. It was like a cherry on top of our perfect Saturday adventure

Gotta be 5 stars - love their vanilla and chocolate and swirl - lately love their fluorescent red cherry coating - very time we come across them, it's fun! This time I was grumpy and said to hubby, hey let's see if Mister Softee is anywhere nearby - used the app! It lags a little, so when I asked for it to research it would update the location but still lagged from where they really were lol - we drove in a few neighborhood circles until we heard the music - and got the usual - always good for a smile - and the woman driving and making the cones was very nice and seemed happy to have made me happy - LOVE MISTER SOFTEE! Be sure to grab some napkins!

My brother and I were on a mission to get mister softee. The first spot closed up before we arrived, and the second stopped serving ice cream even though it was only 8:30. We decided to try one last time and the third time was a charm. Using the app, we tracked a truck to a gas station. Kelsey was pumping gas and it was obvious she was done for the night. However, she went out of her way to help us and happily served us ice cream when I asked. She truly made our night--amazing customer service, and the ice cream was just as good!

Crunchie/menu

The truck stopped in front of my place so I rushed out the door to get some soft serve! I got the Crunchie ($5), which is vanilla soft serve dipped in cookie/graham cracker crumbs. It was sweet, delicious, and a large portion. It's hard to track where the trucks are on the Mister Softee app - I have to rely on hearing the ice cream truck music. Maybe this particular truck isn't registered? Not sure how it works, but if you hear it nearby, do not miss your chance for a fun treat!

Ice cream truck in SF? They go around to different neighborhoods in the city. It brings back an old school type feeling. Staff is always friendly. Portions are generous that can be shared between 2 people. Order: Vanilla ice cream: classic, basic flavor that hits the spot.

Julie L.

Not gonna lie, this was my first time trying it--usually when I see their truck pass by, I pass, because I'm too full or already have ice cream waiting at home. But I'm so glad I ignored all logic and went for it! It was a sunny day at the Great Highway, and the truck was parked, and the line was long. Total FOMO moment, so we hopped in line--and wow, it was worth it. The swirl was light, creamy, and not overly sweet. Exactly what I needed. We played it safe with the classic swirl in a Dixie cup, but next time I've got my eye on the banana split. Pro tip: download their app--you can track where the truck is parked so you can chase it down when the cravings hit!

Spotted them today dropping my son off for tutoring. We were early and he saw them and talked me into getting an ice cream. I didn't think they were open as we got closer, but they opened the window and totally made his day. He opted for a vanilla chocolate swirl with Oreo crumbs. I feel like the portion and being able to customize it makes it well worth the price.

Love when the Mr. Softy truck rolls through the neighborhood -- that circle of kids and neighbors chasing cones is a great day maker. I always get the chocolate‑and‑vanilla swirl with sprinkles; it's ridiculously milky and soft, melts in a way that makes you forget calories for a minute. Prices are fair, portions generous, and the chocolate dip hits like a little ceremony. Perfect pick‑me‑up and low‑key community hub -- I've made more casual neighborhood friendships waiting in that line than at any bar. Highly recommend for a nostalgic sugar rush and easy, friendly vibes.

I ordered the Apple Pie and Strawberry Fresca, and both were excellent in their own way. The Strawberry Fresca was super refreshing -- fruity and almost like it's mixed with soda, and still creamy at the same time. A really nice balance that makes it perfect for a warm day. The Apple Pie leans more on the creamy and sweet side. The graham cracker pieces add a unique texture and soak up the gelato's richness really well, making each bite more satisfying and honestly kind of addictive. Service (5 / 5): Service was quick and smooth. Shoutout to the employee Lucial (hopefully I got the name right!) -- super friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. They also have fan wafers, which are really good and pair perfectly with the gelato. Everything always tastes fresh and high quality, and the shop itself is always clean. The owner who works there is consistently polite, helpful, and informative. She's very sweet and always friendly to my daughter, which I really appreciate. My daughter especially loves the ube flavor, though honestly she enjoys just about everything there too. I've heard some people complain about the prices, but in my opinion it's absolutely worth it. This is quality gelato, made well, and you can taste the difference. They also have reserved parking right outside and a little bench where you can sit and enjoy your gelato, whether you eat it inside or outside.
