Was intrigued by this place because they made sushi rolls without rice, but with cucumber instead. So, popped in for a nice late afternoon snack of appetizers and I was quite pleased and impressed. The atmosphere is chic and relaxing - something out of a magazine. Beautiful lighting pieces, decor was authentic and also trendy, and the seating was comfortable. The drink menu was reasonable priced and had a nice variety of wines, beer and traditional beverages. I ordered a bunch of my favorites: shumai, gyoza (veg & pork for my meat eating friend), edamame, spring rolls, pork ribs and the spicy tuna roll made with the cucumber ... ALL of it was fantastic. Outrageous! I love this place. Can't wait to come back and try some meals from their dinner menu. So I have ate at this place a few times before dining in all times. The food was normally good each time. Last night I decided to order take out. I got two orders of Indian pancakes; short ribs; and house special fried rice. I can not express the amount of grease on the pancakes and the house special fried rice. Both containers had grease swimming in the containers after the food was taken out of them. My stomach hurt all night after eating this meal. Heartburn and spitting up stomach acid all night which continues into being my current situation. Don't order take out. read more

I tried their takeout at two different occasions-- once before the dinner rush and the other, just after 9 pm. Both times their food was fresh and well prepared-- I always find it a good sign that the sushi is done well at all times of the day and night! I been meaning to write about the neighborhood gem for awhile and wanted to give 4 stars review until today... First of all - I like the food here. In fact, I order it quite frequently for lunch as I work at home. The food quality is higher than my usual choice in the neighborhood, so definitely compliment to the Chef and the kitchen staff. The delivery service is fantastic too, as they are very speedy and polite. Today, as usual, I order my lunch for myself and my colleague. We've ordered broccoli chicken and opt out the miso soup and salad, mainly because we can never finish it and often think it's a waste of food. Like every order, we said no soup or salad and if possible substitute with extra broccoli. We never expected a full extra order of broccoli, bust maybe 1 or two more would be perfectly fine. Which I think the restaurant often complies. However, today I got a phone call from the staff asking $3 extra for the broccoli, which I think that's quite costly for extra (unless they give me a whole head of it). While I understand where they are coming from, but at the same time, I feel that it would be an even wash by opting out the salad and soup for getting few more broccoli. So I then asked would I get a discount for opting out salad and soup, the staff replied that's my choice. She is absolutely correct! But I did not appreciate her response, and I hope she understands why I asked for the extra broccoli in the first place if that ever happens. In a nutshell - I REALLY LIKE BROCCOLI just substitute my soup and salad with broccoli. Is that too much to ask? read more

My impression of Mito is: you'd better off getting sushi else where. The fish quality was average, and there was very little of it in the rolls. The ell roll hardly had any eel. The worst part of the meal was the soft shell crab roll. As I was finishing half of the roll, I got a mushy, smelly and aweful tasting bit. Had to stop my meal mid way. I told the server. He apologized which was appreciated, but he did not offer to take it of the bill. The decor was great. But I will be back to Umi Sushi on Union turnpike. read more

They said they didn't ask for the bill they are not done yet, the bald waiter said I know and walked away. One of the waitress was talking mandarin to the bald waiter apparently about the table of customers next to us who understood the conversation was very pissed and did not tip. Food: Apps Duck roll $8 - 3.5 stars ..pretty good, not too greasy...would order again Sushi pizza $12 - 2.5 stars..It was ok, only 1/3 of my friends liked it. Some found it a very strange texture (too doughy). I felt lack of flavor, sauce & seasoning was bland. Tofu tempura aka age tofu- 3 stars..very crunchy, different from many other jap restaurants but still good. Spicy Tuna Avocado Ball $9 - 4 stars...4 mini avocado wrapped spicy tuna - it taste pretty good, but stingy on the sauce only a few drips on each one. Definitely would not get again. Neighboring table only ate 1 bite out of 4 pieces & returned the order Golden state roll: $15...3.5 stars The sauce was good, and roll was soft. Mango on top was super sweet for some reason, especially since mango is not really in season. But sweet is better than sour. Would reorder again. Fire Island: $13 ...2 stars...oddly tasted very watery & mushy. Only thing that was good was the shrimp tempura inside, well fried and nicely seasoned. Would not order again. Joker: $14 ...2 stars... The fish did not taste fresh & was being masked by the sauce & jalapeño. If the fish was fresh could be a decent roll. Would not order again. Sashimi for 2: $40 - 1 star....only the salmon was fresh, very fresh. The white tuna & 3 other type of fish was still partially frozen. My friend bit into a sliced of tuna and I can hear something crunching in her mouth. And no it was not from the ice tray. We took a piece of sashimi (looks like red snapper) & put it on a plate & poked it, it was frozen hard close to the center. Dessert: $8 each Tiramisu: 0 star...Looks like a Hostess Devil Dog but taste worst. Taste nothing like tiramisu except the cocoa powder. A few people said it taste like a week old cake. No one liked it. Green Tea Tiramisu: 2.5 stars... Very small in size. It's creamy but barely can taste any green tea flavor except the matcha powder they sifted on top. It taste ok if it was advertised as sponge cake. But not a tiramisu nor any green tea product except matcha powder topping. Amazing place. I can't wait to return. Went in last night for dinner. Not a large crowd, no waitx was seated right away. The waitress Kasina was amazing. She was funny, very helpful and even offered to take pictures of us. The decor is awesome. There is a boat inside that adds so much to the place. The drinks are really strong. I went back to Mito again last night and was more disappointed than the 1st time I went. Again the food lacked flavor and being that they charge $9 for a Negimaki appetizers--something I can get in Manhattan for $6--I was hoping it would have flavor. I knew something was suspect when the lo mein came out 5 minutes after we placed our orders. They messed up the birthday surprise for one of teens--light the candle before you reach the table please! What really made me upset is that we ordered a lot of food because we had five teen/ya with us, so we spent $$ but to bring us the check when we didn't ask for it, is offensive and REALLY POOR RESTAURANT STANDARDS. There were plenty of other people there before us who weren't pushed out with the check. I wouldn't suggest going here unless you want dine on bland food and be kicked out before you're ready to leave. read more

I was skeptical to try yet another "fusion-type" restaurant but am I glad I did! The food is excellent (some must-try dishes are the duck roll, grilled garlic shrimp, Mongolian beef), as is the service. I came here on a Saturday night right before it got packed. The restaurant is still fairly new (just a few months old) I loved the ambiance and the decor of the restaurant. I think it's great for dates and has a very intimate, upscale vibe but the restaurant was pretty noisy at times being that there were big parties seated near us. Moving on to the food- we ordered the sushi pizza and 3 sushi rolls to share. Everything was so fresh and the service was pretty good. No complaints. Price point was also very reasonable. Just ordered in from this place. Vegetable pad Thai, vegetable lo main and a California roll. The entrees lacked major flavor and only had a few pieces of broccoli as the vegetable. Usually when ordering vegetable version there should be at least 3 different types of vegetables. The noodles were over cooked to a mush. The California roll was also very mushy and just not good altogether. This is the 2nd time we gave this place a chance since end of December 2016. It wasn't good then and I can confidently say it's worse this time around. They need to get a new chef. Definitely not giving this place another chance. Will take my money elsewhere. read more

I am absolutely in love with this place. First let's talk about their sushi, I'm a sushi lover and this place makes even those who have never liked sushi love it. Such good low prices for amazing food. We have tried their mango chicken and pineapple fried rice. The hibachi steak and lychee martinis, ALL AMAZING! I order take out at least once a week from here.
