This place was HORRIBLE!! The customer service was OUTRAGEOUS!! I was on a special diet per doctor's orders and so all I could eat from there was sushi. While I was putting sushi on my plate, the chef looks at me and says sarcastically, "Go ahead, keep scooping. It's not like it took me an hour to make; what the f***..." YEAH! This is mine and my best friends favorite place to eat at. I learned to love Sushi here. I had tried Suishi at other places and thought it was nasty. Mitsui's has a great selection of Suishi and the men who prepare it are very helpful when you ask them about the Suishi. There is always something new for me to try each time I go! read more

Standard food, was just OK .. went on a Friday just before 3 was looking for Mongolian bbq but got soup instead. I Guess the grill was not on or I didn't make myself clear..LOL. service was OK she made sure we had plenty of napkins and drinks were always full, but I don't think I will make any special trips to Clovis to eat here again. read more

The food is nasty. Employees are rude. You have to ask for refill on drinks. Food was old, it was hard and dry. One of the employees making sushi was wiping his nose and they do not wear gloves. Went to lunch on Labor Day---BIG mistake! Most of the food I had must have been reheated, very dry and overcooked tasting.When asking the person behind the food counter about it, he just said "no English". My wife and I have gone to Mitsui Buffet occasionally for over a year and it has been pretty good. We even went on a Saturday night for the "lobster"---what a joke. There are NO tails and the other parts are drenched in a slippery sauce making it nearly impossible to crack apart. All I got during the whole meal was just a taste of claw--absolutely not worth it. Back to Labor Day lunch, After eating dried up pot stickers, dried up on the inside breaded chicken dishes (orange, honey walnut), the toughest beef short ribs EVER, very shriveled green beans, very dry spicy chicken, we'd had enough. It seemed like there was no chef there. When we got to the checkout counter(we had not gotten our bill yet), the cashier said it was going to be $34, WTF! I said, "I thought lunch was less than $10, and the food today was horrible in comparison to other times we had been there". The cashier just shrugged and said "holiday dinner all day, $16.99 each". She pointed to a sign off to the side on the floor which did say holiday dinner all day and the price was at the very bottom and smudged. Very misleading as we came in, no one gave us any clue as to the different price, and they didn't even point to the obscure sign on the floor.There was no sign about price or "Holiday dinner all Day" on the outside either. Mitsui Buffet has become the best asian all you can eat buffet in the fresno-clovis area. My friends and I go to what we consider the better buffets, one on Blackstone and one on Shaw (those two in Fresno) relatively often. We tried Mitsui when it opened and thought it was good, not great except for being impressed with the number of entrees and dishes. Well, return visits have impressed our group alot, and we recommend Mitsui as a really good buffet at a rather unbelievable low price for what you get. Great arrangement of the buffet, except for the dessert-it's all kind of gross. But they try. First, I would have to say, half rude staff. Lost a week's advance reservation Took them 45 mins to get a take ready; promising us a long family table but did ending splitting half the family into 3 different tables-one being across the room. This was the last experience there, and it was NOT great at all-horrible! I was service with an OILY cup drink. Asked the waitress to change out the cup and drink because it was oily and all she did was pour out the ice tea and refilled it. I had to walk myself there to tell the manger (at the time i didn't know it was the manger) to switch out the cup and refill the drink. But the same girl handed me the new drink. Don't if she didn't any to it or not. Maybe I shouldn't have accepted it, since it took her very long to get it to me. Watch out for that. We witnessed the same girl throwing a chair back, it almost hit one of my family members. Also, saw her throwing plates 'cause she was so upset at Lord knows who. It started to die down and all she had to do was clear the plates and refill drinks. No serving food needed, 'cause it's a buffet. She was very attentive to a family that spoke the same language as her. But blow everyone else in the room off. No TIP! I don't recommend this place at all. Never going back. read more

Went here once and will never be back again. The sushi chef was a bad experience for me. Never got to try the salmon sushi because the chef say he was busy and later. Return back after 15 or 30 min. Afterward and still the same. Wife got the same saying too by the the sushi chef. So I took it on my own and told the sushi chef out loud in front of customer inside. Sushi chef got so embarrassed and started to filled it up right away and give e a dirty look with attitude. I came here and pay my dinner and expect to get what is purpose to serve. I had been told that this restaurant was real good. So i decided to take my god daughter and family members out for my god daughter's bday there. i was very disappointed the food had no flavor at all. For the priced we paid we could have gone to tokyo steak house or Japanese kitchen. the only good thing about the restaurant is that they pick up the plates right away once you are done with the plate. but they had bad manner's and gave you the bill while you are still eating and ask if you are done. the point of going to a buffet is to eat and pig out until you can't any more not for them to kick you out when they think you had enough. the good thing was that the food was so bad that i couldn't have another bite. the bad part was it was not wroth $150. read more

I recently ate at Mitsui Buffet with my friends and I was really enjoying my experience here. The food was great and I was with my friends. Then my experience was ruined when everyone at my table were offered more water but I who order raspberry ice tea was not. I waited for the waitress to come back to our table and 20 minutes later she did. She came back to pick up our plates and I simply asked her if I could have more tea because I was thirsty and she replied with "yeah! I'll get it right now I don't have three hands". When she returned with my iced tea it was only filled half ways and the cup was extremely dirty with what it looked like lipstick stain and dried up food on the cup. I couldn't believe what happened and she has made my experience awful. I do not recommend anyone to eat here because the staff is really unprofessional and its standards on cleanness is extremely low, they serve customers with dirty plates and cups. read more

I was just there yesterday with my family and I was so mad with the waitress, I don't mind giving a tip if they derserve it but I don't like it they start asking for a tip. I tought my husband left tips at the table and when we were in the hallway the waitress stopped us and wanting for tips, I told the waitress you don't ask for the tip and the tip is voluntarily and not forcing your customer. Acutally I should file a complaint because she won't let us go she was holding my wrist and I have to told her to let go my wrist 3 or more times. I even told her I would file the complain to BBB if she would not let go of me. Finding out when my husband paid the bill at the front did'nt check the receipt we we're over charge too. I went and look for the terms of tip, actually the fast food buffett is "no tip needed" . Very disappointed in this place. Came here Sunday afternoon it was busy but still places to sit. Wait let me back up. Got here went to bathroom to wash hands. This should have been my stop sign. I was always told you judge a restaurant by how clean they keep their bathrooms well this place here was enough to gag a maggot the smell of urine and it stench in there was unruly. They do have a large selection of food but unable to keep up with it at all the waitress at us at the back of the bus in my opinion the furthest away from the buffet which is fine but I meant we had to walk past everybody's food and workstations there was food all over the floors and the workstations The waitresses were just picking it up and throwing it in the dirty dish Kurt they could not keep up with the plates forks knives or better yet they could not even keep up with food will not ever come back in this place and I highly discourage people in the Fresno area to come here and waste her money read more

Me and my friends went there yesterday 8/6/16 and my friend is very polite. She had asked the waiter behind us if she could get something to drink since she just got there a little later. He rudely asked what you mean? And she told him they were with us but they were just late. Then he angrily put down the plates and trash on the table. He slammed it down, dropped it and said what you want? My friend was in shock. That was so rude and unnecessary. The other waitress whom we tried making eye contact with was also rude. We made eye contact with her but she pretended she didn't see us. We just wanted a refill on our drinks. When she finally came over, she took one cup and hurried off to refill it but we weren't finished yet and when she came back she was upset she had to make a second trip back because when she set our drinks on the table, she slammed it on the table. Too many one star reviews which is not entirely true. Everytime I come here they have great service. Not ballroom service but above average typical Chinese service. This place has to be the cleanest Chinese buffet in town. I cannot believe people complain so much about the food. It is warm, fresh, and a bit salty but that is how Chinese food is. Sushi is made that day, which I think is wonders better than other places. Is it the best Chinese cuisine in town? No, because it is a buffet. I did realize they changed a lot since they opened. I remembered them putting a no MSG sign in the buffet. The last visit, they went back to using MSG. I don't think any Chinese restaurant or buffet that does not use them. Even my last visit to China, you cannot find salt anywhere but MSG. It is in the culture, Chinese food will be salty. I think their food quality have gotten better over the years. For people who want a Chinese cuisine, go to a cuisine not a buffet. read more

Overall bad experience eating here at 8 pm on a Saturday. I'll go over a few areas that really struck me. I'm a fat guy. I like to eat great food. This place must have had a very off night because each section underwhelmed or literally left a bad taste in my mouth. The sushi was old and didn't really represent anything tasty outside or inside. The sushi rice was old and hard, fish was either fake or trying to be passed as sashimi quality. The make your own noodle stir fry meats and area looked clean and fresh enough. When I picked up my order with BBQ sauce seasoning the noodles and everything on the plate had burnt smell and taste. First time I couldn't finish a plate made that way. They have grilled lamb sitting on a hot dog warmer/spinner, very old and very dry. They're seafood was almost non existent. Blue crab was starting to smell even after fried, long snow crab legs were hot but not appetising, the lobster was the oldest with left over shells sitting in the hot plate from when I entered to when I left no new dish came out. The worst came to dessert. They have two types of ice cream. Pre made gallons in a freezer and soft serve. They gallons made by another company were solid in taste and texture. The soft serve was the only thing that I can remember that made me physically regret trying the first spoon. Its a feeling of unease that would make me beg none of you to ever try yourself. The ice cream didn't taste sour or spoiled but a vomit inducing ammonia or cleaning product after taste is immediate. This place has a lot to offer but failed in almost all areas. My wife and I used to go there for lunch at least once a week. That was until today. We have always complained about the sushi bar. They do not keep it well stocked and the chef refuses to put out fresh sushi until the sushi on the bar is almost completely gone. Of course, this means that the fresh sushi is put on the back table and is rapidly becoming unfresh, the fish is almost hard. Today, they had a very limited selection of sushi out, and none with fish on it. I noticed a full tray of fresh sushi on the back counter and asked if I could get some. The chef told me no. How's that for customer service? The waiters stand around, hovering over your table waiting to take dirty dishes away. I would call that good service but I hate being stared at the whole time I am eating. I complained to the management but they did not seem to care that we were dissatisfied. I guess I'll have to find another buffet and I would suggest that if you are considering going, that you skip this one. read more

Do not come here. This place used to be nice and they used to have nice service but the last two visits have been nightmarish. Currently here right now and night started by getting a fork with some old food and part of a napkin still stuck to it. The waiter took our drink order promptly but did not return with the drinks for close to 30 minutes. When we asked for more napkins, we were told we only get the black cloths that they wrap the napkins in and that should be sufficient which makes me wonder how the piece of napkin got stuck on our fork in the first place. The sushi area was empty and when my wife asked for some salmon sashimi the guy behind the counter replied rudely "later". 1 hr later there was still no new sashimi set out and request for any other sushi pieces were rudely ignored. Request for drink refill were slow even after being asked several times. After we got fed up with the horrible service, we ask to leave and requested the check, we paid with our debit card and placed a $0 on the tip section because we had left a cash tip yet the waiter stood rudely looking at the merchant receipt constantly stating that the tips not included in the bill even though we kept telling him we already left a cash tip. This is by far the last time my family will visit this place which is a shame because it used to be such a nice place. read more
