Mixt has become my favorite go-to during the work week. I appreciate being able to order ahead and pick up without having to wait in line when I don't have much time to spare! Personally, I am a big fan of the "Be Well" salad; it is always so fresh and flavorful. I also really love that Mixt is so considerate about the produce they source - they don't use pesticides/all ingredients are organic. Not worth it. Just got my last $14 salad from here. I'm assuming due to trying to recover from long lines, the salad makers rush through making your salad, practically missing certain ingredients and tossing in random amounts. Also, it really doesn't matter whether you ask for light, medium, or heavy dressing, they seem to just mix in whatever they have time to mix in. Portions are huge, which is a plus if you're a giant, but I'm assuming this place is targeting people who are health conscious/weight conscious. In that sense, why are you giving me an enormous salad that I'm going to end up over-eating or throwing away? read more

Mixt salads are generally good, but this location is not great at all. The person helping me clearly had not been trained whatsoever so it took a while to get my salad, but I can be patient and that wasn't a big deal. What upset me was how when the person preparing my salad was having trouble closing the lid, one of the workers who I had just seen carrying and cleaning the floor mats as well as doing some garbage removal put his hands on top of my salad box to close it! I know that my greens were protected by the plastic (except for the bits hanging out) but I was really disgusted that this happened and I wonder if that goes on in front of customers, what goes on behind closed doors? Workers who were just cleaning and touching floor mats should NOT be putting their hands (they were gloved but the same gloves on) anywhere near a customer's food, period. I was so uncomfortable after this I ended up eating a little and just tossing it due to health concerns about this place. I feel like I wasted $12 and didn't get an enjoyable lunch. read more

I was introduced to this fancy salad restaurant by some co-workers, and am now definitely a fan. This location is in FiDi and the lines get pretty long during lunch, so either come early or order ahead of time (next day pick-up). Although their salads may be pricey, they come in huge portions so you are definitely getting your money's worth. FOOD -My favorite is the Hatch Salad ($9.95) Kale, Mixed Greens, Avocado, Red Onions, Egg, and grilled chicken with their greek goddess dressing. So good and fresh! I could eat this for days - perfect if you like kale + avocados :) -Custom salads ($8.95) You can also build a custom salad! The first 5 ingredient/toppings you choose with your greens is already included in the price. Then it is about $1 more for each additional item. I'm not a huge fan of healthy stuff. Give me deep-fried over fresh, organic any day, except while I'm harboring this parasite, I mean, gestating this baby. Since I am slightly anemic, doc orders me to eat more red meat. So being a good patient, I get The Bachelor with the steak and tangy, delicious balsamic vinaigrette. When I remember, I ask them to skip the blue cheese, since I'm not sure it's "safe." It's decent for what it is. 10-18 dollars for a salad depending if you want meat . I get chicken so about 13 and change. Line moves fairly quick in case you go during lunch time. Whenever I'm in town for a business trip, I can never go wrong with Mixt. I usually go in for a build your own salad but today I wanted to try something off the menu. Noel, who I believe was the manager attended me and recommended me his favorite salad off the menu which was an Orchard salad. First time trying this salad and I'd give it a 10/10! I got the cobb salad here last week, the butter lettuce which should be soft and tender was brown and wilted, and had a lot of hard stems. The avocado was bad, brown and tasted disgusting. Compare my pictures to the way Mixt greens advertise their Cobb Salad on their website...That should say it all. Won't be getting another salad here again. The San Francisco Soup Co on California Street has never disappointed. I get the cabo chicken and it is always incredibly fresh, and also costs less. read more

You're going to snake through all the standing room in this prime take-out place to throw down $10-15 for a made-to-order salad and small piece of bread that comes in a compostable plastic tub. It's going to be so satisfying and gratifying you'll want to do it tomorrow. Or everyday. Howeva, me being Miss Frugal, I think that with more effort and planning, you could easily recreate any of their salads for a fraction of the price. You're paying for convenience and location here. My go to lunch spot in the financial district. Great salads that really fill you up along with friendly, quick service.

I don't know why I ever bother with this place. It's a very busy location so the employees are understandably running around. However, the level of service for a $13 salad is atrocious. I ordered a simple chicken caesar salad with no croutons. First, they ran out of chicken. Don't ask me how, but they did. Instead of informing me, the guy runs back to the kitchen for 5 minutes without saying a word. He comes back and tells me he's going to cut me some chicken and to just wait a few more minutes. Cool, no problem. The caesar without chicken is not much of a salad in my mind. I wait a few more minutes and out comes my salad or should I say my croutons with a side of caesar salad. At this point, I've been there too long to argue and if I ask for another salad, they'll either have to pull the chicken out of the current salad or I'll be waiting another 10 mins for more chicken to be made. So fine. I'll eat around the croutons. I go to pay and the cashier asks if I have anchovies on it. I have no clue, but didn't tell the guy who made my salad to necessarily exclude them so I say yes, there are anchovies, giving him the benefit of the doubt. I ask her "why do you ask about the anchovies? do you charge more if I get them?" Seemingly annoyed that I would ask such a ridiculous question, she replies, "no, we charge less if you don't get them." Brilliant!!! It came as absolutely no surprise that there were no anchovies on my salad. I think what bothers me most about this place is that they print money, yet feel no need to surpass the level of service you'd get at say, Lee's Deli. So please keep your overpriced salad. I really like this place but I just can't afford it more than once per week. Based on the quality of the good, I give it 4 stars but the price is 3 stars. One thing I really like about this place is that if order one of their signature salads but remove one item, you can substitute for something else. Love this place. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, and the salads are really creative and are updated every 3 months so you don't get bored. When I first came here, I thought--who would pay that much for a salad? Now I get it--I'm a regular. Eating healthy and large portions that you can save for later--it's worth it. I've been now at least 10x and 8 out of those 10 they got something about my salad wrong. Today I ordered the Cobb (my usual), they were out of eggs (what do I expect it was 1:30 in the afternoon and they were closing up the bar) but when I got back to my office to eat my salad it was missing the chicken and the bacon too! Too many times now after being asked how much dressing I would like (light, medium, or heavy) and responding clearly "light", I find my salads from this particular location swimming in dressing. Several times too, now, have requests for a simple substitution of lettuce type on a standard salad been forgotten. I like the salads and their quality generally, and I appreciate that the staff is trying to hurry to meet the lunch-hour rush, but this has happened in non-peak hours, too, and I feel as if some of the staff don't bother to listen to my response to their own question. There's always a line here. I've had many of their salads and sandwiches for lunch. My favorites are the cowboy and maui salads. The cowboy salad contains greens (you can ask for different greens of your choice), red bell peppers, black beans, corn, tortilla chips, chicken topped with light to medium chipotle honey dressing. It also comes with a slice of bread. The maui salad comes with ahi tuna with light mango dressing. It's fresh and makes me full. Come early if you want to avoid the lines or grab one of their pre-packed salads if you already know what you want to try. read more

I've gone to this location twice and the first time I vowed never to come back because I paid $11 for a meatless salad and I was hungry again in an hour and had to go get a second lunch. The second time, I knew better, but I was late for a meeting and it's right next to my building. Same thing. $11 salad, hungry in an hour and had to go buy something else for lunch. Great, fresh, locally sourced food. It is a little pricey but I am willing to pay a little more for locally sourced food. I ordered the "park" which is an unusual and delicious fall salad. While Mixt Greens has great and creative salads I often find that the lettuce still has quite a bit of dirt on it. Also quite often the butt end of the head of lettuce is mixt into your salad too, and that should go in the trash. I really like their salads but not sure how much more I can order from them based on the amount of dirt. read more

SLOW DOWN!!! Every time I come here, the employees act like they are competing in a race to see who can make a salad the fastest. As a result, I have received a salad with a piece of glove in it, one with wax paper in it and some with ingredients missing. Last time I checked, salad making was not an Olympic sport so there is no need for all the theatrics. I would rather wait a few extra minutes to have a well made salad than one that is a mess with miscellaneous items in it. It's really nice to find a healthy eating spot in the FiDi, and Mixt Greens has a great selection of plant-based items to put on your salad (including unusual toppings like farro and asparagus), but there is not a lot of value there. I'm grossed out from what I found the last time I was here. I've always used their black plastic forks because I never had a doubt in my mind they would be dirty. This is because they wrap a plastic fork in a napkin, so I would expect the plastic fork to be clean! Anyhow, I took a closer look at their fork while eating the purchased salad and saw that it was really dirty. White / gray-ish dust was on it and I knew I ate all of the dust on the prong area!! (See pictures below) It made me want to barf. I went to speak to their Service Manager and he wasn't apologetic or anything. What happened to customer service?? He was pretty much clueless and said, "Oh, they're all like that. They come from the vendor like that." And I said, "So, you guys knew they were dirty but gave them out to your customers anyway??" He said he would call the vendor to check why the forks have dust on them. I went to the Mixt Greens on Sansome and the forks there also had white / gray-ish dust on them!! I spoke to the cashier and he said that it's safe to use the forks, the forks are compostable and they're made with organic oil. I told him I've never seen forks looking dirty and definitely are not sanitary. Why can't they or their vendor wash the forks if the manufacturing process leaves dust on the forks (this is only if it's from the manufacturing error)? Does anyone know if this white /gray-ish dust is safe to eat??? Please let me know. I've never been anywhere that gives out forks with matters on them! If you like Mixt Greens, be wary and use your own forks or use theirs but wash the forks first! Their salads are not cheap, so a clean fork to go with my salad is not too much to ask. read more
