We were in Jacksonville for my husband to have knee surgery and he felt well enough after his procedure to go out for dinner (with the okay from his surgeon). From the minute we walked in, they completely took care of his needs and gave us a place to sit where he would be the most comfortable. The staff was AMAZING! We ordered A LOT of food off of the menu and there was not a bad bite in the entire meal. Their sashimi would give any Sushi restaurant a run for their money. It was fresh, delicious, melt in your mouth little pieces of heaven. Their slices were nice and thick; NOT the kind you would get in other AYCE restaurants. WE live in Savannah, GA and we have a place here that is more expensive and the food is just acceptable compared to Miya Sushi. I HIGHLY recommend that you check this place out when in the Jacksonville, FL area. We are 2 and a half hours from Jacksonville, yet I would go back there just for the food. I honestly don't know why there are good reviews.. this was the worst sushi food and place I've ever experienced. To start, the soup tasted like chlorine-like drinking straight from a pool. Our whole tables sushi's rice was so mushy and it has barely tolerable to eat. The sushi my friends ordered tasted like it had gone bad and tasted like cardboard with no flavor even with random things in/on it. Asked a couple of employees what to do if our food was actually bad: they didn't care at all-they just wanted money. Worst customer service and they disregarded that the food was actually terrible and stood there counted every single piece to charge us with afterward. After leaving all of our stomachs were upset and felt like puking. Overall a terrible experience and wonder if the bad reviews are deleted because every single review is good. Not a bad place to have a decent meal. $17 for all out can eat sushi, tempura, katzu and hibachi. It's sort of like Japanese tapas! The tempura, and katzu were fried perfectly and not greasy. Their ginger dressing is a little on the sweet side, but very flavorful. The sushi rolls are not heavily padded with rice, but are full sized. Love everything about Miya Sushi. The atmosphere, the food, the service, the price, and the people. While you can order off the menu, you really cannot beat the all you can eat options for just over $10 for lunch and $15 for dinner. Great sushi choices plus appetizers, hibachi, and even dessert. The only thing that could have been easier for me personally would be an indicator on the ayce menu which sushi was raw or cooked. The descriptions helped with making selections and I know I am not authentic but I prefer the cooked sushi unlike my lunch guests who were happy with everything on the menu. Service was so top notch that as soon as we started filling out the handy forms on the table our server took a peak and had out salads on the table before we even got through the appetizer selection. We tried quite the assortment and would highly recommend the Gyoza, the pork and vegetable dumplings; the Shumai a steamed Japanese shrimp dumpling; and the lumpia, which is actually a vegetable spring roll. All of delightful starters come with their own dipping sauces which makes the dishes irresistible. We also tried the vegetable tempera appetizer which was a sweet potato slice breaded and fried with a nice dipping sauce and while it was good, it just didn't top our list. From the kitchen we ordered the shrimp hibachi and Japanese fried rice. Both were delicious. For dinner you can get a red snapper hibachi, which is crispy outside but tender and juicy fish on the inside. On the all your can eat menu the individual portions are small, which we appreciate because you can order a big variety and as much as you want but be responsible and not waste good food. My guests really loved the tuna, which is chopped perfectly fine. For sushi I tried the shrimp tempera roll which crispy fresh shrimp inside a large roll beautifully presented. I also tried the mango avocado roll which was unique and flavorful. Since I cannot personally speak to the raw rolls, all I can share is that my guests were very pleased with their lunches, with the eel earning exceptionally high praise. Several servers stopped by during our lunch and kept our drinks filled and reminding up that we could order more. I managed to save room for ice cream, but isn't there always room for ice cream? Could not decide between the green tea ice cream and the red bean ice cream so tried both. Fortunately they were small scoops and both were amazing and worth every last calorie. The red bean won out for my favorite just slightly because it is creamier and bit more decadent. I would recommend the green tea also though because it is not super sweet, but deliciously refreshing. read more

Greeted by a waitress she sat us down and our actual waiter came by. Not the friendliest character but who knows what's going on in his life. The large party in the room gets the attention while the other tables seem to be of secondary concern. The service would also be improved if the servers would focus on improving their English, at the least enough to understand what the customers would like from the menu or to explain items on the menu to a customer. During my two visits , the gentleman server forgot to deliver some items marked down on my ticket. He also did not drop by to check on our needs. FYI to start, as of 4/25 this restaurant is open currently for pickup or 3rd party delivery. Ordering online from their own website was not terribly complicated and estimated time ready for pickup was 25 minutes. When I arrived to pickup my food 30 min after ordering, I gave my name and sort of deciphered via a head nod that my food wasn't ready yet, yet there were two bags ready to go on the bar counter. We had dinner last night. Two with drinks cost $40. It's worth it. Big portions and few bucks cheaper than Fuji (Beach/Hodges) that we went very often. We've been visiting Fuji at least once a month but honestly Miya has more choices of sashimi especially they have eel that I love the most. The sushi, rolls and hibachi (grilled red snapper, salmon & beef) are all better than Fuji except soft shell crab. The extra bonus is dessert that Fuji took off from the menu long time ago. I love green tea and red bean ice cream. Staff are very nice. I only give 4 out of 5 stars because they are new, like Fuji at first they provided the most delicious sushi and lots of choices, after they got some crowd, the quality went down little bit but prices up. Miya all-you-can-eat dinner is $16.99, it's 5 bucks cheaper than Fuji. Although it's little farther than Fuji, we definitely will go back there now when we feel like some sushi. read more

Not going back anymore there. Food was great, BUT their service leaves a lot to be desired. AYCE, but you have to ask them to bring your order. The waiter was never present, did not top off our drinks, and we had to get his attention so we can order our next food. It felt like he was doing it on purpose to stall us from ordering more food. There were big gaps between our orders and they even missed some of our orders. And we didn't even order a lot! We got tired of looking for our waiter and we just gave up. The other funny thing was, as we were paying our bill, the lady manager/owner, went out and lectured us rudely about our food (that, by the way, we're still working on, because it came late), and she told that there's a rule that we will be charged extra for wasting food. So, while we were eating, they were nowhere to be found. But if they want to bilk you for more money, the waiter and the rude lady manager were there. What a way to run a business!
