Me and my family have been going to Miya fusion for a very long time, we even recommend our family and friends to eat there as well. Through out my whole life, I've never been told by any restaurant staff, yet alone the owner to not order too much food because they don't want the food wasted, at an ALL YOU CAN EAT (AYCE) restaurant. The owner's name is ANNA, she's the Chinese lady that serves/runs the place. I've always had off vibes about her because she would give me and my family (of 6) nasty stares as we would order lots and lots of food. keep in my mind, we don't like wasting. We can definitely eat a bunch. but for this woman to go through our used napkins in used plates to check if there is food "half-eaten" or "wasted" is just PLAIN RIDICULOUS. This woman ANNA's attitude towards my family is just plain rude and disgusting. As someone who also works in the restaurant industry, this horrid woman ANNA is an awful person. I understand she cares about food costs, but for people who are paying an ALL YOU CAN EAT PRICE of $20 per person. for her to tell us we can't order any more food is ridiculous. SHAME ON ANNA. Please don't eat here if you want to enjoy and feel welcomed at her restaurant. she is a horrible woman. DISCLAIMER: WORTHY OF MORE STARS FOR TASTE/FLAVOR AND PRICE! I really like my sushi--okay, I'm lying--I really LOVE sushi! My husband can attest that "sushi" is my go-to answer when I'm asked what I want to eat. Now with that being said, I've had some pretty good sushi experiences, so I can be a little picky or critical. This place is actually pretty good, and we've been here twice now in a relatively short timeframe. "So...why only the three-star rating?" Glad you asked! First of all, I'm really excited that there's a new "all-you-can-eat" sushi place that is closer than the typical location we visit (that one will be another review). It's in a shopping plaza, so parking shouldn't be an issue, although if you're on Old St. Augustine Road (turning left into the plaza), it can get tricky during rush-hour. You'll have to rely on the kindness of drivers who stop and allow you to cross into the apron when it's busy. One giant plus: the price--dinner (and weekend pricing) is $16.99! very affordable for being AYCE! However, here's the trade-off (hence the 3-stars): the menu choices are a little bit limited (compared to other AYCE places I've visited, and I've become spoiled by them). But what they DO offer, they do very well, and I have not been disappointed with their food. When I try a new sushi restaurant, I use the spicy tuna roll as the gauge to see how I might like them overall. Theirs is GREAT! Spicy enough, and they make it with minced tuna, the way I like it (some places will disappoint by having one giant piece of tuna and add siracha sauce for the heat). I'm bummed that tuna and yellowtail are not offered on the sashimi menu (they have other options, just not those), and the albacore sashimi had this unusual "coating" (for lack of a better word). Because I'm more of a purist when it comes to sashimi, I would have liked it better without that. The selection of rolls are also limited, but still very flavorful and enjoyable. I appreciate that the rice is a nice thin layer so it doesn't fill you up too fast and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. For dessert, the green tea & red bean ice creams are a nice, light way to finish (personally I like the green tea better). I'm giving them 3-stars for now, in hopes that perhaps they will eventually expand their menu (but still keep it reasonably priced). I will gladly keep going back, and I hope it's soon! read more

My wife Tahmina and I visited Miya Sushi this last week and were delighted by both the food and the service. It is only 3 months since opening but we were impressed by the variety and freshness of the sushi. My wife ordered the miso soup (we always order it as a barometer when we travel) and it was excellent. The sushi was VERY good. The red bean ice cream is quite good as well. We have visited some of the best sushi restaurants in the USA, including Koi in NYC. At $16.99 per person for AYCE, it is quite reasonable for the quality. Not good. I ordered my poke bowl online. It said it would take 15 min/ ASAP. arrived 20 minutes later and they said I needed to wait. So we did. Now 30 minutes later she says it's ready. When I go up to pay she says it's 19.85. When on the site it was $15.75. I ask why is the price different. She points to the menu with a hand written sticker telling me it's gone up a $1.00. Then tax, then all these other prices. I said ate you going to change it online? She's like 'yeah we forgot!' Anyway ate the very small poke bowl at home. It was ok. But will never go back. We came here for my wife's birthday since she loves sushi and the reviews were good. The price was great, but it definitely matched the quality of their sushi. The waitress was kind of rude when a friend ordered too much sushi, isn't that their problem if they ordered too much? They did finish their order so that whole awkwardness could have been avoided. Not why I am giving them 3 stars, service doesn't matter to me as much. The spicy tuna did not taste fresh, and felt like a chore to eat. Stick to the sashimi/sushi, they were decent. They did have a pretty wide menu so that was cool. We didn't hate it, but we didn't love it. This place is just ok, nothing special. Came in for AYCE lunch today ($10.99) We found a booth in the corner and the staff is very quick to come by and take your drink order and explain the AYCE option. They also have menu as well. They bring the order ticket for the whole table, you will then select your items and they bring them out as they are prepared. We ordered seafood soup (think a light miso soup with seaweed, tofu, crab and shrimp) and seafood udon (same as the other but with thick udon noodles and shredded lettuce I think, squid, crab and shrimp.) The udon soup comes in larger bowl than the seafood soup. We ended up getting the lumpia and shumai starters. Which are both very good, however the lumpia is not accurate. It is more of a vegetable spring roll. Also try the Kani salad. It is imitation crab with julienned cucumber and a sprinkle of sesame seeds and tempura crunch. We added a little siracha for flavor. A total of 6 rolls, Edison, Spicy Girl, Monkey Roll, Tri-Color, Double Tuna and Tiger. All are pretty good. There were only a few tables there, so food came out relatively fast. The ladies helping us were very friendly and came by and struck up a conversation with us after we had finished. The dinner menu has a few more offerings and they sound pretty good. I went here last night for a special Birthday Dinner for someone special. A friend on Facebook recommended it as a fantastic all-you-can-eat for $16.99 spot. We were not disappointed. The quality of the food was fantastic and came out super quick. I'd say there were less than 5 minutes between us putting in our order and having the miso soup and seaweed salad arrive. The sushi itself was fresh and the Salmon Sashimi melted in your mouth. The gyozo dumplings taste home made, the dough has an eggy sweetness to it. Our waiter saw how quickly we ate them and offered to bring us more without us asking. I loved that. Also, please try the red bean ice cream! It's the perfect amount of sweetness. I also want to mention how lovely our waiter was. He smiled the entire meal, making cute side comments asking if I was married to my date, laughing about who should get the last piece, etc. He was so quick and efficient too. I wish I'd gotten his name! If you're reading this Mr. Waiter, you're fantastic at your job and made our experience all the more better. I really don't know why you would want to go anywhere else. Their rolls are fantastic and their other items are great. My daughter and I had a really great experience here this evening. Miya is new to Jacksonville, and we are so glad to have found them! This is a great place to have all-you-can-eat sushi. While the menu is somewhat limited in regard to rolls, everything we had was fresh & yummy, and they had some surprising choices on the kitchen and sashimi menus. I personally would like to see a little more variety in the choice of rolls, but that isn't a deal-breaker when you take the entire experience into account...if you leave hungry, it really is your own fault. We tried the Monkey Roll...you gotta have that. DELISH. I would also ad that the all-you-can eat doesn't take away from the atristry of the sushi chefs...each plate we ordered from the sushi bar was beautifully presented which made the meal that much more enjoyable. The restaurant was extremely clean, which was absolutely wonderful and the service was top-notch. This is going to be a regular lunch stop for us - as cheap as a greasy fast food burger...but far more fun & healthier than any of that stuff. Update 1/13/17: Still absofeakingloutely love this place. We eat here at least once a week. I have mad love for the staff. They are simply great people, and do an outstanding job. Not only do the ladies remember us by name, they all bring us the little extras you usually have to ask for, like exta napkins, or a specific sauce I personally like a little bit extra of. We tried this place for the first time last night based on location and other reviews. Man, we were not let down! For $16.99 ea., we ate so much food! It wasn't even the price alone! The sushi was, by far, some of the best I've had to date. Very fresh, unique, and delicious! I was mad at my stomach for not being able to eat more! The first time we came here, about two weeks ago, we were blown away by 1) how great the service was, and 2) how wonderful the food was. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We even went around telling our friends about it. And then we came back... The food was still good. But with service that was constantly lacking, our entire experience was absolutely awful. No one even seated us. Just a "you can go sit over there". We had to grab our own menus. Our drinks sat empty for far too long, for a restaurant that wasn't even busy. The friendly waiter from our previous visit was anything but. And to top it all off, after waiting over 10 minutes for someone to come take our cc, so we can pay and leave, we had to take it up to the the wait staff ourselves. My friends and I have been coming to this place for the past 2 years and the food is always good! The sashimi portions are cut very generous and the servers are always nice. Awful service every time we go in there even on a weekend there's only one waitress there's constantly a wait and they always try to up charge you for things they never even mention. Very good Sushi! I ordered a take out order and it was the best sushi in my area. I ordered the spicy tuna and it was seasoned very well. The shrimp tempura was excellent! I also ordered a tiger roll, which was also excellent considering the $8 price point. The miso soup I ordered was very flavorful, (which in some restaurants can be bland and tasteless). I have no complaints and I was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was, I was very pleased as well with the prices. The only complaint (which isn't even a complaint really) is that they didn't have shrimp sauce (which if you're like me is a big deal when it comes to sushi). I would love to try the all you can eat lunch, but the lack of shrimp sauce has slightly put a hold on that for me. *** Edit *** Went for the dine in - all you can eat lunch and it was AMAZING. I really wanted to like this place, but it ended up being the worst AYCE sushi buffet I have been to. I had ordered a miso soup and 3 special rolls, thinking I would finish it easily since I had not eaten anything for lunch. I didn't have any complaints about the miso soup-the taste was to my expectation. The sushi was where everything went downhill. The soy sauce they carried was a lot saltier than my roommate and I had expected, and I had even joked that it was because we were so used to using the low-sodium soy sauce, but thinking back it may have been dark soy sauce. So I ate the sushi without the soy sauce and it didn't taste much better... Taste is the keyword-despite ordering 3 different special rolls that had spicy tuna, spicy crab, mango, eel, and/or avocado in it, it was awfully bland. I was questioning the freshness of the sushi because it wasn't savory at all. I had 8 pieces left out of 22 and my roommate mentioned belatedly that it would be $1 for each uneaten piece, but even after hearing that I still couldn't bring myself to eat anymore. I have always enjoyed eating sushi, but this was the first time where it was a struggle because the taste was lacking. I called the waiter over and asked for separate checks, and he told me the same thing that my roommate did. I told him that it just wasn't what I expected (that's the best I could do because I'm not the type of person to complain about bad food to the employees) and he said he understood, but there was still going to be a charge. He said if I could eat 4 more pieces he wouldn't charge me, but I looked at the leftovers real hard and I said, I just can't do it (it was that bad). He was nice enough to only charge me for half the leftovers and offered dessert (green tea ice cream) which I accepted. If I were to ever come back it would not be for the sushi. read more

Dining experience at this establishment is less than desirable....We decided to try their buffet instead of ordering from the menu. Each of us ordered different items, with hopes of being able to taste/try different kinds of sushi and dishes. The serving portions are so "HUGE" and to the point that it is about 2 times the size of a regular sushi roll (which is mostly rice), the slice of sweet potato tempura is as big as a child's sleeper, etc... Needless to say, we were only able to sample very few of their menu items, was charge $1 or $1.50 extra for each slice of the items we were not able to eat and none of them were worth mention or praise. It's all you can eat but of course eat all you order because you'll have an extra charge for the leftovers, at first this scared us and we were hesitant. Upon arrival the place is so cute and nicely lit and the menu has so many great options. Once you order sushi this cute cat robot comes and brings it to you, how cool is that!? The food was phenomenal and so tasty, all the fish tasted fresh and it was so filling. We all definitely had no problems finishing our food. 10/10 would definitely recommend. read more

I'm sorry guys but you need to tighten up your service game. Came here a couple times. Food is an 8 but the service is a 3. No smiles and barely a hello. I used to not think service mattered until I came here. Some servers are good but most are not. I can't tell if the waiters want to kill me or serve because there is no reaction. This is my go to place for all you can eat sushi. The prices are unbeatable and the sushi is always good. I'm pretty sure everyone there knows me and my boyfriend by now! The place is kept clean and the wait staff is always friendly and ready to refill your drinks as needed. A few times they have been slow but that's usually when they are very busy. The sushi is freshly made to order and tastes great. They have a pretty big selection for the all you can eat menu and include plenty of non-sushi items as well. The lunch menu is slightly smaller than the dinner menu but is also cheaper. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
