There was a casual, welcoming, as well as comfortable atmosphere to the place. Bacon Praline. Chef's kiss. This was the best bacon I have ever had! It was satisfyingly crispy, absolutely mouthwatering, expertly candied, topped with a generous dusting of praline, giving it an additional sweet taste and adding another layer of deliciousness to it. For my brunch meal, I ordered the Smothered Smoked Pork Chops with potatoes, eggs, and biscuit. The Pork Chops were tender with great smoky flavor, while the accompanying white, savory sauce was tasty and well seasoned with bits of meat. It was just a bit too fatty for me. Potatoes were also yummy, cooked perfectly, and slightly crispy. I requested the eggs to be fried over hard, and it was a bit weird, because the yolk seemed to be mixed in. It was also a little bland. Biscuit was too dry. Overall, this was a nice place to have brunch. Service was solid. The waitress was super friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. I would consider returning just to get the Bacon Praline again! I was also intrigued by the Waffle and Duck Hash with sweet potato, so want to try that dish.

There was tons of parking all around the park across the street. Inside had something like 6 or 8 tables and a bar to sit at. They also have outdoor seating. You order at the register and they bring it out to you. I ordered the 2 meat 1 side combo. They didn't have burnt ends at the time, which I'm still dying to try. Instead I went with ribs and chicken with Mac and cheese. I've been getting used to bbq places bringing you small wimpy ribs, but this says two ribs on the menu it's more like three and some change they're so big. These ribs were so juicy, perfect amount of char, tons of flavor. Throw some of the table bbq to dip in and wow. Same with the chicken juicy, with a light crispy skin, and also even better with the bbq. Mac and cheese was also great. It was super cheesy and had a nice kick to it.

I ordered the brisket burnt ends and the ribs with a side of baked beans. The food came out pretty fast. The burnt ends were delicious. Tender and seasoned well I also loved the bbq sauce. The ribs were okay. They were Luke warm so they got cold pretty fast and were over cooked. I enjoyed the baked beans and they give you a hearty portion. Overall pretty good I would definitely go back to get another order of burnt ends.

I came in knowing I wanted a beef shawarma, but outside of pitas, hummus, and a basic shawarma plate, I'm still learning this cuisine. I wanted to try something new, so I asked a lot of questions. The two gentlemen behind the counter were patient, kind, and really helpful. The setup is beautiful. All the toppings laid out, fresh, colorful, and inviting. When it was time to build my wrap, I'll be honest... I didn't know what half of the items were and his accent was a little heavy, so instead of playing the "huh?" game, I trusted him to dress it for me. And I'm glad I did. When someone really knows their food and culture, I like to lean into that. I even recorded him making it because I already knew... if this hits, I'm coming back and I need to remember what went on it. I didn't get to eat it right away, but when I finally did... it was GOOD. Not spicy, a slight sweetness, well-balanced flavors, and seasoned without being overpowering. It felt like a full experience, not just something thrown together. Only thing for me, and this is personal, I would've liked my beef cooked a little less. It leaned more well-done, but it was still tender and juicy, so not a dealbreaker at all. If I had one suggestion, I'd say adding a visual menu with pictures and maybe spice levels for the toppings would help people like me who are still learning and want a little more control when ordering. I did notice it looked like shawarmas used to come with a falafel, and I was lowkey excited to try that for the first time, but I might've missed it or it changed. Either way, next time I'm definitely coming back for it. Overall, really solid spot. Clean, welcoming, flavorful, and worth trying something new. I'll be back.

Four delicate leaves of butter lettuce with a creamy dressing embrace tiny succulent squares of perfectly fried tofu smothered in Buffalo sauce. It's divine and you should order these no matter what. The other remarkable attribute of Bar Brine is the service. We had the sweetest waitress and she was totally understanding when my friend sent her frozen drink back because it was more strong than sweet (she's a bit of a wimp oh well). She was also very attentive and helpful with the menu. I love Sneaky Pickle, when during the day there's plenty of vegan lunch options and a bright, sunny dining room. At night, Bar Brine turns sultry, boozy and edgy/romantic. Perfect for a date or group of friends (though admittedly the acoustics reminded me of when it was Maurepas years ago and how loud it was in there). My friend and I couldn't stop going on about the Buffalo tofu and naturally were excited for the main course, grilled trumpet mushrooms over grits. Unfortunately, this is nowhere in the league of the tofu dish and it may be because I don't love rubbery textures, but I found it bland. The grits are coarse and not too flavorful either. Salt helped but I can't recommend this entree. I'll definitely return for doubles on the Buffalo tofu and hopefully will try the tempeh reuben or cauliflower vegan options next time. Also cool because your vegan-dubious friends can order meaty fare here if they don't trust and believe that the Buffalo tofu ranks up there with the best things you'll eat in this town.
