I've always loved the cozy vibes of diners, and as soon as my girlfriend and I discovered Moa Kai on social media, we immediately knew what would be our next foodie stop. Almost immediately after entering we were seated, and within less than 15 minutes, we had both our appetizers and entrees in front of us -- incredibly quick service, all without skimping on the quality, as everyone was super friendly and personable. The first thing we tried was the fried spam musubi, which was absolutely to die for. It's the type of guilty indulgence you can't help but to want more of, so if you've got the appetite for it, don't hesitate to order a second one, you'll thank me later. As for our meals, my girlfriend got the mochiko chicken with the Mac salad and spam fried rice, while I got the kalua pork with shoyu ahi poke, seaweed salad, and spam fried rice. Both of our plates genuinely blew us away. Her chicken was bathed in a decadent spicy-sweet glaze all while staying perfectly crisp, and my pork was so tender it practically shredded itself on my fork. The poke was super fresh with a nice tang from the sweet onions, and the spam fried rice was flavorful without being overly greasy or heavy. Without a doubt, Moa Kai is a permanent fixture in our date night rotation. read more

We split the fried spam musubi and the two protein lunch plate with shoyu and Korean chicken. The shoyu chicken and mac salad from the lunch plate were delicious, and complemented nicely by the included white rice. The Korean chicken had a great texture but we definitely preferred the shoyu chicken. I had definitely been most excited to try the fried spam musubi but it ended up being my least favorite part of the meal - for me it needed a sweet element to balance the salty spam and the heaviness of the white rice. Good ambiance, service was quick and friendly, and we were seated immediately. Be aware if you have younger kids, I don't believe they have high chairs. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to trying the kalua pork and having the shoyu chicken again! read more

Apps, noodle dishes, poke bowls, plates, sides, desserts, and alcohol. I was starving so decided to try the mix 2 platter with pork and spicy ahi. Partner got pork and Korean fried chicken and an order of char sui buns. We got our platters first since the bao buns take about 12 min to steam. This was quite a bit of food for a good price. I'd like to think I'm a rather big eater, and I was full with enough to take home for a snack. The Mac salad is creamy, mayo deliciousness. My pork and ahi were very good. Partner's Korean fried chicken was absolutely delicious. Juicy, crispy, sweet, and umami. Our buns were brought out fresh and warm. These were sadly just okay. The dough itself is good but the filling had an overpowering salty, wine tasting taste. I can't think of the word..bitter, sharp..something. There were four of us and we each ordered something different. The Kaila pork and cabbage, fried fish plate, loco moco and spicy tuna poke bowl were ordered. The Kalua pork and cabbage didn't make it out of the restaurant and the loco moco were raved about. The spicy tuna poke bowl was also enjoyed. The fried fish was a bit too fishy for me but the macaroni salad was delicious. We had all three desserts, the Malasadas were the favorite. read more

It has become a weekly stop for us and I can't decide what dish is my favorite because everything I've had is delicious! Food was excellent. I r got the garlic noodles with the grilled shoyu chicken and then the tritip kabobs. Kimchi was delicious. However, one thing that stood out to me is the service. There was another patron that left her purse behind when she left and the waiter called out to her and ran out into the parking lot to give the purse back. That kind of heart is priceless. Absolutely loved it! Felt like a mini vacation in the middle of colonial. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. I recommend the local style fried saimin if you're undecided as it has a little bit of everything. WOWIE!!! First, the building used to be a Dunkin' Donuts waaaaay back in the day (1980's!!!) hahahaha. I only mention this because one of the desserts are their delicious Portuguese Malasadas!!! :-P Anyhoo....... We walked in, and we were immediately warmly greeted & shown to a table with a cute little bobble hula lady stuck to the table, heeheehee. The lovely young lady immediately got us drinks, Coke fountain products, juices, & some yummy sounding cocktails. Maybe I'll have a cocktail next time :-) We started with the appetizer of the Mahi Fish Dip with crackers. Just the right size for the 2 of us, but maybe 4 folks if you stretch it. For entrees.... I got the Mix Plate with 2 scoops of white rice topped with black & white sesame seeds & macaroni salad, plus I got the house salad added on for myself. I chose Kalua Pork & the Panko-fried Mahi. Both proteins were perfectly cooked. Dare I say delicately. Yes. Yes, I do. It was a very difficult choice to make. D'oh!!! Looks like we will HAVE TO come back!! The hubby chose the Grilled Tri Tip Kabobs & chose a house side salad, and Spam Fried Rice. The Tri Tip was cooked to the wonderful medium rare as requested. The entree portions are very generous. I had leftovers for my lunch the next day. The hubby didn't only cuz he was really hungry. While we didn't have room in our tummies, we got the freshly made Portuguese Malasadas to go. And the incredibly delicious tasting Ube Haupia Pie will be on our next visit for sure!!! We saw someone else getting the pie..... such a pretty color of purple!!!!!
