One of my new favorite places in Orlando. Love how quick and simply delicious it is. Perfect for lunch or dinner, and honestly breakfast if you get their egg and spam platter! Very exciting to have new restaurants coming into our area. We stopped in with high hopes and it definitely delivered. Decor is very nice and clean. We were not starving so we chose to try many smaller things. We got the two meat platter with the Korean chicken and kalua pork with the sides of rice and Mac salad. The Mac salad was wonderfully dressed, the chicken was crispy and very well coated, and the pork was very tender. The garlic noodles were just that, garlicky and little crisp pieces- they reminded me of the pf changs garlic noodles which were my absolute favorite- so happy to have that back in my life. Felt like I was in Hawaii again! The pork hash is huge and the best I've had outside of Hawaii. The amount of chicken you get for the Korean fried chicken at $14 is amazing and it's super flavorful! My friends and I came here one week day, and it was pretty busy! It was my first time stepping into Hawaiian cuisine so I didn't know what to expect. We all enjoyed what we got. I got the musubi that was deep fried and that was perhaps too intense for me, I would like to try it without the deep fried part next time. The proteins were excellent, flavorful and well-prepared. And while Spam may not win any nutritional awards, it's a guilty pleasure I will happily revisit. The fried rice absolutely hit the spot. If I'm being nitpicky, the edamame was a bit underwhelming. I would have liked it slightly warmer and with a touch more seasoning. That said, it wasn't a deal breaker. Aloha to this new restaurant. I don't know what was better the service or the food. I love when you get to experience a perfect dining experience. We started out at the bar and the bartender helped us order the perfect drinks. As a lychee fan, I was in heaven with a lychee martini. I asked to pay our tab as we were only going to have one drink and she said that is ok I will transfer it to your table. So smooth transition to welcome us. Food wise everything was amazing. We had a couple of the two entree meals so we could sample around the menu. The Korean chicken was battered with a good sauce. It was not spicy like I expected, but a lot of flavor. Finally came tonight for the first time for dinner. There was plenty of parking and it was decorated all in theme and even had some Santas for the holiday season. They don't take reservations but there was ample seating when we visited and they have barstools set up like a typical diner as well. Our server was very friendly, made great recommendations, and checked on us often. The portions were large and all the food was tasty. The Mahi fish dip was literally so good but disappointingly small for $14. I expected the malasadas to be bigger, but I did like their fillings and texture. Definitely go with the guava! First visit to Moa Kai Hawaiian Diner and we enjoyed it. Seating is all indoors and we did have about a 20 -30 min wait time to be seated as all tables were full mid afternoon on a Saturday. We experienced several staff members stopping by to take our order, deliver food and to check on us and everyone was really nice. We ordered Masubi's for appetizer ($5 each) which are sticky rice with a slice of spam on top wrapped in a seaweed wrapper. These we found pretty common when we visited Oa'hu but these were a bit larger. For lunch, we ordered a Teri Burger ($14) that is served with a slice of pineapple on it with a side of perfectly prepared thick French fries, Grilled Shoyu Chicken($15) served with two scoops of white sticky rice and macaroni salad and a Mix Plate- Pick Two ($16) with Shoyu Chicken and Kalua Pork with two scoops of white sticky rice and macaroni salad. For dessert we ordered two orders of Masalas ($8 each order of 2) described as Portuguese Donuts and we asked that each be a different flavor filling including Guava, Likikoi, Haupia and Custard. When we visited Oa'hu almost two years ago we experienced similar foods and we were not disappointed with our experience at Moa Kai. We ordered one alcoholic drink called Lilikoi Tini ($13)which is made with Sobieski Vanilla, Chinola, Fresh Lime Juice, Giffard Vanilla and Prosecco. This drink was subtle tasting and the effects were pretty strong....but not strong tasting. Everything tasted great and there isn't anything that we ordered that I wouldn't order again. These foods can be best described as typical Hawaiian comfort foods prepared just right. The Grilled Shoyu Chicken seems to be a mixture of light and dark meat and it had a nice taste in the sweet side. The Kalua Pork was less sweet and served with cabbage. The dining room isn't really small but they could probably use a little more room for more tables. Service was attentive and it did take a little time for the food to be served as they are preparing things fresh and the restaurant was packed. We will be back and we look forward to selecting some of the other items on the menu. We typically do not order appetizers and dessert, however we were excited to taste some of the flavors of Hawaii reminiscent of our time visiting Oa'hu. We will visit this restaurant again and will bring friends. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this diner!!!!! I will be returning numerous times. There was a line to be seated but bar is first come first serve so my boyfriend and I sat at the bar that the bartender was tending to. So there was no wait. The establishment is super cute and on the smaller size. It feels very open and bright. Midcentury modern/tropical diner flare. The bartender, Olivia gave us exceptional service. She gave us great recommendations and was a pleasant person to chat with. I will be coming back just to be served by her again. We ended up getting cocktails because they looked too good to pass up. First two were the Lilikoi Tini and the Lele Lychee. The Lilikoi Tini was a deliciously sour and bubbly concoction. The Lele Lychee was smoothly sweet and went down so nicely. And then we ordered the Koa&Kane which is their version of a tropical rum old fashioned. I am not a fan of old fashions but that had tropical fruit flavors punching through. We also got the Hō'āhi Rita. If you love a spicy margarita then I highly suggest plus you get the bonus of guava. For food, we ordered the pupu platter to get us an assortment of the starters. It included Gau Gee and Pork hash. Both super tasty. The chicken and beef skewers were deliciously seasoned and buttery. And OF COURSE we ordered the fried spam Musubi. Olivia said it will heal your soul.... Well it sure did. It was orgasmic. Do not skip the musubi. For the main dishes, we got the Kalbi ribs with garlic noodles instead of rice and the loco moco. All exceptional. I was especially addicted to the hawaiian mac which i devoured. The garlic noodles were sooooo tasty. The flavor of the ribs was fire. And i was not expecting this cute lil pieces of rib meat on the bone. I had imagined a whole rack. But it didn't disappoint. My boyfriend was in heaven with the loco moco especially because it included mushrooms. It was delectable. And of course, for dessert we got the malasadas! Guava and Lilikoi. We got the last ones. The guava was fire but the lilikoi flavor was lacking and tasted more sugary than fruity. I am a passion fruit/maracuya/lilikoi snob due to it being my favorite fruit. We literally finished everything and did not waste a drop. I will be returning in the near future. This IS AUTHENTIC hawaiian food which Orlando was lacking. The Spirit of Aloha lives in Colonialtown! The staff is warm and welcoming. The restaurant was nearly full, however we were seated very quickly on a Saturday evening (6:30ish). Got the fried spam musubi to start... I have never been much of a musubi guy, but this one knocked my socks off. It was fresh, had a perfect crunch and was so delicious. Next: Plate Lunch. The Korean Chicken was BANGING. It had so much flavor with just the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. The fried fish was really good too and that sauce that was put on top took it to the next level. I had never had spam fried rice before but I'm tempted to go back and ask for the recipe because it was Devine. Mac Salad was pretty good too but I'm picky in that regard. Nonetheless, I still ate that up! I ordered the Ube Pie... (I ate it in like 3 bites and by the time I realized, I had forgotten to take picture.) Wanted to give this place a try since there are not too many Hawaiian restaurants around plus they had malasadas. Super crowded so we sat at the counter. Service was on the slow side but we kind of expected that so Im sure they will figure that out. Ordered the pupu platter, the bao buns and the malasadas. Also ordered the musubi but it never arrived so we will have to go back again...oh well LOL... oh and by the way, they automatically add 3 % to your bill for kitchen appreciation .....whatever that is so you may want to tip accordingly. Anyway all the food was good. The malasadas were excellent. We got the lilikoi and haupai. It's kind of small inside and they have a little bar with some delicious sounding drinks. My husband and I visited Hawaii about a month ago, and the post-Hawaii blues have been real. We've been missing the food and the hospitality so much, and Moa Kai brought us right back. The food was incredible. We ordered the Spicy Ahi Poke, the fried Spam Musubi (honestly better than most of the ones we had in Hawaii!), and the two-meat mix plate with Shoyu Chicken and Kalua Pork. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We didn't get cocktails this visit, but we saw a few being served and wow -- they looked amazing. And they even have fresh POG juice! Maaaaan! Where to start!? I was SUPER excited to try this spot, I'd driven by it last week and was intrigued, then I started seeing TONS of Instagram (because you know you're phone listens to you obviously Hahaha) and my family likes to do Fun Food Fridays. So when today rolled around I had to give it a go.. but I was out voted and we wound up further down Volonial at a place that rhymes with propante and the service was terrible, the food was cold, and I insisted we leave. I'm SO GLAD I DID! Moa Kai is AMAZING!!! Seriously night and day compared to what I'd come from. The server (Ashley) was so attentive and smiling the whole time. Even though it was clearly busy no one was stressed and literally everyone was attentive and polite. I ordered the Fried Spam Masubi, and Char Sui Manapua for appetizers and they came out quick and hot and did NOT disappoint. The steamed buns were beyond divine, so soft and luscious, and the char sui was perfectly seasoned and tender. For our mains we ordered the Kalbi Ribs, Loco Moco, and a Mix Plate with Shoyu Chicken and Kalua Pork. I cannot possibly stress how perfect all of the food was. The Kalbi ribs were tender and perfectly seasoned, the prime beef patty on the loco mock and the gravy brought me right back to home cooked meals when I was a kid, a literal hug on a plate! The shoyu chicken and kalua pork were truly amazing. Dessert was the Ube Haupia Pie, now I'm no stranger to Ube being a massive lover of Filipino cuisine, but good lord this pie was perfect. My daughter is a picky eater but she devoured half the pie and that was only because I fought her for the other half! Hahaha While I love a good meal, I'm a cocktail aficionado and was most hype about trying out some of their customer cocktails. Let me tell you, there are some really good cocktail lounges in town, but there isn't a better Mai Tai around all of Orlando. It was perfectly tart and refreshing. Next up was the Lilikoi Tini which had a perfect blend of passion fruit and vanilla with just enough prosecco to add a delightful mouth feel! Lastly, the Koa and Kane seriously blew my mind with how great it was. It had the deep almost molasses flavor that comes from a dark rum and Demerara syrup, mixed with a fantastic tiki bitters Kola Nut flavor. Hands down my favorite cocktail of the night. Hats off to the entire crew for creating a spectacular menu and cocktail program. Speaking to the staff they made it clear that the entire setup is a family operation and they took inspiration and direction from everyone, which is super refreshing. I cannot possibly recommend Moa Kai enough, for the foodie and the cocktail lover alike, this is a cannot miss spot.
