I first called Mobile Pros (Kirby) when the starter on our van failed and I didn't want to have it towed. We scheduled the repair for the following morning and Kirby called when he was on the way. He completed the repair quickly and at the quoted price. A few days later I noticed that the replacement starter wasn't sounding right so I called Kirby who came out to my workplace the next day. He checked it out and determined that it was a bad remanufactured starter. He worked with his supplier to get it replaced with an OEM starter at no additional cost and didn't charge me for the additional labor. After that experience, I decided to call him when my engine light came on. To make a very long story short, the engine light was not an easy to determine fix. Kirby checked service bulletins, online resources and even spoke with a technician from the local dealer. He ultimately found the problem and got it fixed and didn't charge me for one fix he attempted that didn't work. I really think it would have taken much longer and cost a lot more (due to failed attempted fixes) with 99% of other mechanics. Other things I like: Kirby was always prompt, professional, friendly and explained things thoroughly. Regarding that last point, whenever I was next to the car with him, he'd explain exactly what he was doing and would show me the diagnostics he was running on his handheld computer. I had starting and electrical issues so I called Kirby on a Thursday evening to set up an arrangement on Saturday(5/16). Saturday comes along and I get a call from Kirby and a voicemail because I missed the call, telling me he had a job he was going to be at for a while in Cherry Valley. I get ahold of him moments later because I appreciate the fact that he knows not to rush a job and I would rather him be able to work in a reasonable time frame. He told he would be able to make it to me the next day which was that Sunday. Kirby handled the job well when he arrived, he also brought his son which was cool to see, the kid was very smart. I first called Kirby after hours and expected to receive a call back the next day or so. However, he called back within 5 minutes to listen to me grumble about an issue with my '63 starting. He was extremely helpful on the phone as I described what I had tried already to remedy the situation but determined that there might be an underlying problem. A time was set up for a couple days later to have Kirby look at my ride. He diagnosed the issue in about 20-30 minutes and was thorough in checking other potential issues related to the carburetor not functioning properly. It was determined that the carburetor was the culprit so he and his son took off the carb and spent the week cleaning and rebuilding it as close to factory specs as possible. Above and beyond, he swapped out my air/fuel filters for heavy duty ones up to par with my vehicle. I was very impressed by his knowledge of the classic Pontiac specs and cars in general. My wife was driving from an LA job back to Las Vegas when our Ford Escape suddenly quit on the 15 NB near Glen Helen. I was working in Europe and could be no help.. so she called our towing service. They took her to a chain accessory auto store with a service garage for tires, brakes and the like. They billed us $90 for an hour of labor just to tell us the timing belt broke, the vehicle motor was ruined and would need to be taken elsewhere (this was misdiagnosis and an abuse). It was Saturday afternoon when they told us this - facing Sunday and a 8-hour time difference, I was in a tough spot, trying to find a trustworthy shop fast on Sunday, or Monday, and my wife stranded. Monday as early as possible I began searching for a good option: 10 calls to shops listed as 'good reviews' by various online sources.... only 3 of these called me back (on my US phone) to quote me over $3000 for complete top-end rebuilds, depending on how many valves needed replacement!!! This seemed highly suspect to me, without inspecting the engine... and the 4-cyl Escape engine isn't a high-performance motor, it seemed unlikely to me the valves were damaged. On a (desperate) hunch from my former experience in auto/truck service as a Goodyear sales rep, I decided to try calling some mobile service techs. My thought was, mobile guys fiix all kinds of roadside breakdowns, from their trucks and on the roadside... hot, dirty work. But most of the ones I ever met had nice shops at home and liked doing a real motor job in the cool and shady safety of their shops, between roadcalls ... maybe I'd get lucky. Looking for some good referrals, I happened upon inlandempiremobilemechanic.com, a family man named Kirby with a Mobile Pros business and a lot of good reviews. I called Kirby to feel him out on this: he asked me for the VIN and a little info on my Escape, and promised to call back in 5 minutes after doing a bit of research. I was nonplussed; but happily surprised in 5 minutes when he called me back, stated with certainty that the valves and head should not be damaged by a broken timing belt (a NON-INTERFERENCE motor) and quoted me less than $800 to repair it as well as install new parts where removal of them made it a good idea, e.g. the thermostat, accessory belt and water pump. He promised two-day repair, if I could tow it to his shop. Perfect. Kirby was better than his word. Wednesday evening the car was ready, and for less than 800, including replacing the sparkplugs which were misfiring (they were the OE plugs, haha). His tuneup and work were seamless, the car runs better than ever before. Kirby showed me the old parts to prove his work and was kind, clean, professional and a real gentleman. YOU COULD NOT FIND A BETTER CHOICE. I LISTED HIM FOR TOWING ALSO, NOT BECAUSE HE TOWS VEHICLES BUT BECAUSE YOU CAN SAVE THE COST AND TROUBLE OF TOWING SIMPLY BY CALLING THIS TERRIFIC GUY. YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!!!! I WILL SEE KIRBY AGAIN ANYTIME I NEED ANY REPAIRS. May even bring the car here from Vegas! read more
