A snow storm thwarted my planned visit in March. Saturday April 15 was the day. My dining companion and I stopped in for lunch. Our server Tracy was helpful with the ordering process and bringing over some suds. We both settled on the Good Hope Hefeweizen: Light- to medium-bodied, unfiltered wheat ale, with clove and banana notes from an iconic German Hefeweizen yeast. For food in my mind I was lobbying between a burger or the fish sandwich. Then my eyes spotted a Grilled Pork Loin sandwich. It had Caramelized onions, green garlic mayo, watercress, papo seco. My dining companion ordered the Marinated Chicken Breast Sandwich. It had Cranberry mustard, arugula, mayo. Both were served on bulkie rolls. We both swapped out fries for salad. We thoroughly enjoyed both sandwiches. The pork and chicken were both tender and the salads had light dressings. Tracy came over and asked if we had room for dessert, we figured why not and gave a try of the moist chocolate stout cake with a lil whipped cream on the top. :I'm glad I finally made it to Moby Dick Brewery. They have the best steak tips in the city, I recommend the lobster roll as well. Everyone that works there is so polite. I've never had a bad meal there, even the Beerfest Nachos with pulled pork are great & my mom's vegan so they also offer vegan nachos as well. Love everything on they're menu! read more

Been here twice since my move to the area and I really like this spot - came first for a drink and an app and another time for dinner. COVID protocols are being followed and the staff was friendly - I sat indoors both times and found the space to be warm and comfortable. All 3 cocktails I have had (jalapeño margarita, one of their fishbowl margs, and a Sauv Blanc) were very good and my cheeseburger was excellent if slightly overdone (I always order rare though, so this is not only usually expected but also OK so long as it still qualifies as med rare). Minus one star for a lackluster app (avocado fries) that were recommended by our server. I will definitely be back and can see this becoming a well-loved addition to my repertoire in my new home. read more

We really enjoyed our meal and the beer is great! The portions are on the generous side - so be ready to share with the table. Staff is friendly and working really well given the pandemic rules/protocols and I highly recommend. Wow, what a find!! Can't believe it took this long to finally check it out. First, the people. Great bartenders!! Friendly, helpful and knew their stuff. The place itself is in a revitalized part of New Bedford, which was perfect for parking and walking around. The beers were delicious. Had two terrific IPA's, will be going back for the Stout, which was going to be dessert, but we ate too much of our food. Speaking of food. Chick Parm, Fish N' Chips.....unbelievably great. With the resurgence of New Bedford in full swing, Moby Dick's is one of many mid to upper scale type eatery's around the commercial wharf / downtown area. I'm not a huge fan of the multitude of micro brewery's popping up everywhere, there's just too many and honestly i think they all look and the beers taste the same, usually too floral or too hoppy. MD's is pleasant and modern with an open feel to it, the menu is filled with all the usual seafood and land offerings, my initial dish at any new seafood restaurant i visit is the humble fish n chips, always a good gauge for me which i ordered here on a Thursday afternoon. I prefer the fish to be a whole loin of haddock or cod in a heavy beer type batter and the chips to be in-between steak fries and regular fries, MD's got 1 out of 3 right. The batter was half decent, that was it, i didn't like the 2 small pieces of cod or fish bits as i prefer to call them, and the chips were dreadful, they were sliced way too thin bordering on being like a cape cod potato chip. Prices are mid to upper range, the place was clean and the service was excellent. So far in New Bedford the clear winner for fish and chips is across the street at the Black Whale.....in my humble opinion of course. read more

Great brewpub! Enjoyed the calamari, some of the best we've had! Not chewy, melt in your mouth good with a light tasty breading. The pretzel app with beer cheese was also good. Enjoyed the apple, pecan, goat cheese salad. Light dressing. Fresh. The fried fish sandwich was good. Simple fried fish with seasoned mayo, pickles, bib lettuce on a tasty toasted brioche bun. THE FRIES: Old bay seasoning on perfectly thin cut fries. So good!! Mac & cheese was a rich and tasty treat, too. Got two flights of the beer. Enjoyed the Ishm-ale!! Went here last summer and had a good experience. The food and service were good. This year we had 7 people for lunch and it was a disaster. They had no seating for us so they put us in the tasting room which is basically a big bar in a side room. We waited at least 2 hours for our food- unbelievable. I actually left the restaurant and walked around the area, went to the whaling museum among other things and sent my food back as I lost my appetite. Needless to say I didn't hear an apology for the poor service which is disappointing. There are some other options in the area so I doubt that I would return. read more

Awesome experience today. Stopped by with my wife on 3/22/20 during the Covid 19 curbside only service. From the beginning the online ordering was super simple. Ashley was super helpful in recommendation of the system and how to navigate during this challenging time for restaurants. We were passing through New Bedford and just needed a snack. My wife and I split the Fried Fish Sandwich could not have been any better. The fries were housemade and dusted with old Bay. We also ordered a Growler of the Irish Amber. My wife and I agreed that this was the best beer we ever had. Ashley brought out to our car and we sat with the sun on our face and could have not been more happy. We arrived with approximately 23 hockey playing kids and their families. We were treated absolutely, wonderfully from the moment we walked in. The staff was AMAZING. Our waitress deserves a gold star, she ran our insanely large party with grace and skill. The food was prompt and delicious. Her recommendations did not disappointed. The chicken tenders were delish, the chowder was fab, my chicken sandwich was great- I'm not sure there was food left on a single plate! I ordered kale soup, French onion soup, a quahog, the chicken parm sandwich with fries and a molton lava cake to go. Everything was packaged well and I feel was a good portion for price, staff was friendly on the phone and in person, they also prepared my meal in a timely manner, didn't have to wait too long to get my food brought to my car. Kale soup had a great flavor, a little spicy, with kale, chourico, beans and potatoes, only complaint, it was a little light on the ingredients/ mostly broth. French onion- very good Quoahog- delicious, almost as good as my godmother Chicken parm with fries- sandwich was good, they put a few leaves of fried basil which was tasty but can be overpowering, fries are thin cut but not thin enough to be a chip, they were seasoned well but I found the fry to be chewy due to not being thin enough to get the a chip like crunch nor thick enough to be fries. Morton lava cake- they forgot the raspberry sauce, they package the ice cream separate and gave a decent portion, often when I get a dessert that come with ice cream the scoop is often very small- like enough to fit in a small condiment cup. This had a good scoop of ice cream, molton lava cake was good too. Over all, good food, good portions, friendly staff. I will try them again read more

Went in with some friends to grab coffee drink & desert.At front desk advised this was okay ,but once seated waitress stated " we don't do desert but do have a few things".Since we're already seated we agreed on 3 of the same coffee drinks with same dessert. Coffee drink arrives with no whip cream no spoons or napkins.Could not find waitress so had to go to seek out host for assist.Dessert comes 20 minutes later when our drinks almost done,again no fork..so when waitress finally came around again we declined any other order.Drink & desert were average but not worth the cost or poor service.ur read more

This is a very cool brew pub. We got there just as they opened so got our pick of the seats, we sat at the bar. They had the football (soccer) on, so my experience started off good. They get a star just for that! They have a lot of their beers on tap, and there is a nice variety to choose from. All of the beers I had were solid choices, I don't think you could go wrong with whatever you pick. The two IPAs they had were my favorite though. My wife had a cocktail, Blueberry Spritzer which was also very nice. All of the decor is nice too, and the staff are very friendly! It was our first stop and I didn't want to leave! I have come here several times. The beer is pretty good and the food is okay. They are starting to get creative with the beers now that they have established themselves a bit, which is fun. The kitchen certainly had some growing pains, but it seems like they have largely ironed out those issues (daily closing from 2 to 4 with no access to food). I just tried to go to this establishment for a real quick beer and appetizer and was told that their kitchen was closed at 8:35 when the restaurant doesn't close until 9 pm. I understand not wanting tables to walk in last minute on a slow night, but why push away cash carrying guests when the restraunt is still busy. Don't give this place your business. My boyfriend and I were in the area and this place had such great reviews on yelp that we chose here for lunch. I Well, it definitely did not disappoint. We had the bacon wrapped scallops and they were absolutely fantastic. I got the hangover burger(burger with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg) and my boyfriend got a fish sandwich. Went here for a quick drink and to try some of the local brews! I had a raspberry type beer and my boyfriend had an IPA. Both were very good. The atmosphere at the bar is really relaxing and a great place to have a conversation and drink for a bit. One of the brewers came by and gave us a sample of something new! It was an end of summer beer that had August in the title. I wish I was staying for two because I would have ordered a full pour! Great new establishment down town. We didn't get any food but heard from friends it's good! I will make an updated review once we eat there. This place (in my opinion) is not my favorite, in the heart of downtown New Bedford this restaurant is one of the restaurants that gives downtown it's star studded name... however I would not pick this to represent new Bedford. The service is great the atmosphere is impeccable, but, the menu is too short for my liking, with lots of seafood and only one real burger to select from. Prices are reasonable if you're only looking to get a dish and a drink or something along those lines. 3/5 stars. read more

So moby dick..... I would like to give this a 3.5 star review but you can't do that here....anyway, beer was delish and fresh but I was really disappointed with the menu. Very limited. I wish there were more appetizers/bar snacks. Salad options are abysmal so don't go if you like to eat healthy. It is much smaller inside than I expected but it is very nice. I just feel they should have a more pub friendly menu, more snacks....anyway, we got the salted cod chowder..--pretty freakin good!! And the deviled eggs which were.....just deviled eggs? They were fine but I guess I expected more. Go here for beers....and I guess a snack.
